Professional tennis wouldn't have ever been this good without Nadal. Once retires, there will be a permanent void in this world of tennis for the intensity and heart he brings.
Indeed. What an era... Nadal, Federer and Djokovic, all great in different and complementary ways.
Yeah Nadal takes part in 5 matches that are easily top 10 matches in tennis history by any body's book:
Nadal vs Federer 2008 Wimbledon.
Nadal vs Verdasco 2009 AO
Nadal vs Djokovic 2012 AO
Nadal vs Djokovic 2018 Wimbledon
Nadal vs Djokovic 2013 Roland Garros.
He's easily the best player in bringing intensity and drama to tennis matches, and also doesn't hurt that he's the GOAT now that he equaled the Grand slam record. Nadal is a once in a lifetime sportsman.
@@gherbihicham8506 I disagree w goat statement, imo the only 2 viable goat statements r either there are no goats or there r 3
@@darrenlang1111 EXACTLY. Nadal is CLAY GOAT, but no way is he the all-time GOAT with such a lop-sided clay-dominated career, even if a spectacular one.
@@sidtrip1 If we count only natural surfaces , where tennis was born , Nadal has 13 RG + 2 Wimbledon´s = 15 Slams , Djoko with 2 + 6 = 8 Slams and Fed with 1 + 8 = 9 Slams. Im not saying Nadal is GOAT by any means , but i see nobody talking about this undeniable fact.
Edit : Yes i know Novak has the best numbers and he deserves it , will probably go down as the GOAT for now.
Delpo is such a player even if his opponent is our favourite player we feel sorry if Delpo looses. Such a great and humble person. Miss him in tennis.
These aren't highlights. Its just the condensed set. And thats good.
also happens to be an extraordinarily amazing set of tennis.
I got a ticket to centre court for this match! My first time at Wimbledon. Was hoping to see Federer but he was moved to Court One and I ended up seeing this which ended up being one of the greatest five setters I've ever seen. Definitely preferred it to Rafa's semi with Djokovic. Delpo's running forehands clipping the line were unreal to witness in person...
Eastwood Records I love it at 5-3, Delpo hit that mega forehand. I and most of the arena thought it was way long until the scoreboard was updated and then there was a secondary oooo
I came back from work, I remember seeing Fed 2-0 up against Anderson, was shocked, when it was 2-2, I thought- surely it would be over, with the way Federer was playing! How wrong I was, I didn't expect that shocker choke, then again, I guess this jinx is becoming the norm though, I will never expect victory, until that last ball is hit.
"Definitely preferred it to Rafa's semi with Djokovic". Ahem, ok.
@@ashb001 i know right. Someone having a different opinion. Shocking!
@@samfitzpatrick7891 Of course they can have that right. There are people who don't like the view of a perfect sunset, or the smell of a rose, or a match between two of the three all time greats on Center court at Wimbledon, where the final set "only" went to 10-8. (A more likely explanation for that distaste could be that Djokovic won that match, so it suddenly ain't a classic match any more - but lets not go there).
There are tons of shots in here that are world class and should be shown more often
Two of the most humble and respected tennis players in the history.
Both Rafa and Del Potro forehand is a work of art.
Don't know if any other condensed set can be as intensive as this!! Incredible intensity..
That was sad for Del Potro he gave Nadal everything he had and still couldn't break him and to see Del Potro cry after losing was brutal.
Cry baby delpotro
Yeah, beacuse crying is such a humiliating act after losing a brutal match against one of the best athletes of all time. It isn't like no other top tier sportsman have every broken down in tears after losing.....
Del Potro didn't cry after losing.
@@pauljohnson6019 hater
@@jinduowang3093 Federer was clearly rattled, over that challenge delay, and never recovered mentally, or he would have won that match, whether Delpo played his best or not.
Rafa is also one of the best grass players of all time. The intensity, passion and variety of shots Rafa plays here is incredible! Delpo seems to only pounce on forehands, but Rafa also playing plenty of drop shots and signature banana FH inside out wherever required. Wish he wins one more Wimby before he hangs up the racket. Vamos all the way.
False nadal is also Roland garros
Barely top 10
@@donvito7344 name top 10 players with 2 wimbledon grand slam wins .. or who has played 5 wimbledon finals
@@donvito7344 Buddy Rafa would have at least 4 Wimbledon titles if it weren't for Federer, that's not including his Finals/SF losses to Federer/Djokovic. The same can be said for Roger and Roland Garros, and yes, even though he only has 1 title, Roger is still one of the greatest clay court players of all time.
I can feel Nadal's intensity and power through my tiny little phone screen.. he's friggin' amazing!
Nadal mental toughness in the 4-3 game was incredible.
@Smite Stuff - Spot on. I think he and Nole are so tough mentally in the clutch. More so than Fed.
@@missourimanful Nadal is great when it comes to mentally a lot better than Federer but a lot worse than Novak...(it's just my opinion tho).
Mental Djokovic>Nadal>>Federer
@@yellowhuang5920 Pretty much.
Mental: Nadal > Djokovic > Federer
one of my favourite matches
That backhand from Rafa to get the break for 3-2 ♥️. Rafa's so brave!
I really thought Nadal would win this Wimbledon after seeing his performance in this semi. 2018 was his best performance on grass in long long time
A wonderful sport at it’s finest. What a couple of gladiators.
Delpotro reminds me a bit of Safin. Both injury prone but huge hitters that can beat anyone on their day
Its not the matter of whether they can beat the best or not. They have already beaten the best many times.
Delpo choked- he had one big opportunity to break at 7.23, but hits a massive mishit forehand down the line, that lands 7ft out! He'll be haunted by that shot for a long time- that may have been his only chance to break, and put pressure on Nadal's serve- but he rushed, and played like a fool.
One of the best performance of Nadal on grass court.👌👌
Shame he lost against Djokovic on the semifinals, he had his third Wimbledon right there. It was an extremely close semifinal, and the closed roof (even without rain) probably decided the match. Kevin Andersno spent 6 hours with Federer in the QF and another 6 against Isner in the SF; he was exhausted in the final.
I really don't know what exactly it is about Delpo that makes him so likeable. On court he was a beast and then off court he just seems so nice, like a guy you'd love to share a drink with. I can't say that about a lot of tennis players. Even Federer and Nadal who are known for their ultimate sportsmanship are still very serious guys most of the time, Delpo always just let his emotions flow and it was great to see. he roared in victory and cried in defeat and both made us love him just the same
14:54 the most emotional thing I’ve ever seen so far
Nadal played 2 matches of the decade in 3 days. I wish he had hit that back-hand a bit better on break point in the 5th against Djokovic.
the sound quality of hitting in this video is tremendous.
This is the most beautiful video on RUclips for me. Period.
Didn't realize nadal went back to back 5 setters in QF and SF
He done it many times
Wimbledon 2018 had the best series of finals I think I've ever seen. The Final itself was a bit disappointing, but the lead-up was ridiculously good.
Poor Anderson was exhausted after playing 5 hours in QF and 6 in SF.
the most underrated match of the decade
It's not underrated
Que bueno eres Nadal, que suerte haber disfrutado de tu época dora.
Que grande eres del Potro,un gran deportista y mejor buena persona.
This is a classic match ...
Nadal’s the type of person no matter what until and unless the ball drops he’s running for it! 🐐
Delpotro forehand is crazy
Make one for Djokovic-Nadal semi-final, Djokovic- Federer final and Djokovic-Delpo semi-final as well.
When did Djokovic del potro semifinal take place in this Wimbledon?
@@MKD1101 2013
Remember how people used to sit next to each other. Unthinkable now.
One of the legendary match
It’s weird to see barely nobody mentions the state of the delpo’s backhand which is almost non existing due to injury.
With only forehand and a 50% backhand he managed to take it to fifth set speaks volumes.
Quality of the highest order in this set 🔥
Who is here after Wimbledon 2020 cancellation announcement???
im sure the US open will also be cancelled.
What about French open???
@@acerusher4859 French Open is scheduled to be held in September I guess. Clashing with Laver Cup
@@arkaprotimroychoudhury1152 Federer is playing French Open though, that is bad news for Thiem now, I bet he thought he was favourite in May, after he heard Roger pulled out- now I'll bet he'll choke again, if he reaches another finals.
What an amazing match. And amazing highlights too
This match was 10 times better than the 2023 final.
12:57 that old Del potro backhand is still in there deep down, he started unleashing it.
Sf 2013 wimbledon delpotro play even better there with his old doublehanded backhand shoot
That was a awesome game from delpo.👍👍
11:56 Monster Forehands!!!
Insane final set!!!!
Unreal match. Even as a Rafan I felt so sorry for Delpo. Had he broke back at the epic 4-3 game maybe he wins this match and possibly a 2nd GS (would certainly have his chances against Djoko playing at this level). The dim light reminded me of ‘08 final. This is what happens when 2 amazing competitors and forehands collide. We are lucky to have experienced this 😊
12:40 commentator gasping
10:45 what's with the two watches?
Lol, seems nobody noticed.
Weird flex but ok lol
that's a cartier Santos and a Rolex Daytona. Essentially the guy is wearing an entry level sports car in his wrists.
Two Times The Fun 😉
@@valdencorr2861 who is the men that is wearing them?
just amazing
He may not always win but I'll always root for Del Potro.
Great match for both~~!
Most classic GrandSlam matches involves Nadal✌️ His matches are never boring.
8:58 FH from Hell!!!
Correct me if I m wrong but this was his last great grand slam performance... what a loss .... injuries I curse you
Just incredible ball striking in this match.
Del potro had the most powerful forehand ever!!!! Insane performance from him can’t still believe he lost this match
Such a shame Delpo couldn't win this one - love watching those Thorhand winners and hearing the sound of the ball coming off his strings, unreal power
Very stuff match, unbelievable! No regret at all! 💐💐👏👏
rally at 10:45 is insane, how important it was to nadal too
Man Delpo had so many BPs that he could have converted in that final set. Real shame he had to lose. But in the end, only one man can win that day.
Delpo what a player Holy Mother of God...
WHAT A MATCH
I remember watching this. What a brilliant match from two giants of the sport. 👏 Del Potro is missed and Nadal will be too when he retires.
Del potro has the most realistic grunt of those who do it.
every point from del potro is a higlight itself
1 of All Time Greatest Sets.
Before getting injured of his wrist Delpo had a very efective backhand , people don´t remember it because he fell injured in 2010 and since them his backhand was never the same, this injury made him much more vulnerable against Nadal or Nole, but his forehand was so powerful that it was still pure dinamite
If only Nadal had met someone else.... Maybe he would have won his 1/2 final. Djocko was lucky to play against a tired Nadal in 1/2 and a dead south african in final :)
Exactly delpo played a huge role to help an inform novak to beat nadal physicaly also he helped andy murray in wimbledon 2013 when he made djoko tired in their semis match long 5 sets while djoko played this year in the quarter against nishikori who beacame weak mentally in the recents years against the big players.
Nadal that time was 1st in the world, Djokovic 22nd, how novak was lucky?
@@andreazonin Novak was 22nd but he was already playing on a level of top 2 player on grass.
Same thing can be said for Nadal. At the US Open 2010 he was lucky to play against Youzhny in his 1/2 final while Djokovic was playing Federer in 5 sets. Nadal faced a dead serb in final. :)
@@mickaellandry9726 Exactly! We can quote many such examples..
10:22 Insanity!!!
Amazing how hard and aggressive both hit..just blasting it toe to toe..!
12:42 is 🔥
Yyyessss! We needed this
Injuries robbed us of a would have been tennis great Juan Martin Delpotro
best set ever iconic
the crazy thing is that, nadal after this marathon, played 5 sets againts djokovic, and almost beat him
This two were swept by injuries , who knows what Delpo would have done over his career with healthy wrists and Nadal , foot , Knees , abdominals , wrist..., both unique players and wonderful people , we miss them so much
This is the fifth set, but both, Nadal especially, were still hitting with full power
عالمية❤
Del Potro gets overshadowed; but he gave the big 3 all they could handle!
Two mistakes from the right to break pots in the fifth set were a key moment for delpotro..
Нашим Медведям и рублям до такого уровня тенниса ещё как до Луны пешком. Ощущение, что сегодня уровень тенниса в целом стал ниже, чем был ещё 5 лет назад.
Que jogo! 👏🏼👏🏼
最高の試合ですね。
Incredibile Nadal! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
That dropshot by Nadal at 5:28 was awesome.
PARTIDAZO
If Delpo had not come up against the big three, he would have won many more Slams
Que grande los dos
Imagine if Delpo's body hadn't betrayed him. He'd likely have a few more majors. What could have been with him (and Cilic)
He's a monster
12:40 amazingggg nadal’s classic banana forehand 🔥
Djokovic always got a easy draw. It is unfair.
All timer of a set at Wimbledon this one,. Without injuries, DelPo would have broken the dominance of Rafa/Fed/Novak. He had the power to hit through all of them and the agility of someone half his size.
Only if Nadal was less injury prone. What a player.
del Potro has had a lot of injuries. He has to miss many years due to injuries. He has had 4 knee surgeries. Hope he can play.
Love match
Fantastic.
This is so weird. Why am I crying ?
this was a perfect game at 3-5 Delpo losing! 12:46
Nice match
