  • hey folks, I've been waiting to do this video for 3 days. I wanted to test the new Diamondback sidekick against the Ruger Wrangler and the Heritage Rough Rider. I had some suspicions that the sidekick might be keyholing some of the rounds. so I wanted to make a better Target and compared against other 22 handguns. I think I have proven to myself that the sidekick is a good gun and that I was just overreacting to some cheap paper targets.

That Ruger is all over the place that Heritage is doing a pretty good Group and if that sidekick up just a little bit it would be right in there Good shooting my friend

I have four Rough Rough Riders. Three of them shoot pretty good but my 6 3/4 inch barrel Heritage will hit tin cans all day long at 55 yards. I was glad to see the Heritage out shoot the Ruger.. Great video.

After shooting any firearm at two different targets and you find the groups are consistently grouped but low, you compensate / look down the barrel differently. Not all pistols shoot like YOU shoot. YOU have to adapt to them or you don't hit the target.

I have a sidekick and the rough rider. I prefer the 9 shot capacity, swing out cylinder and DA/SA trigger of the Sidekick. The front sight is supposed to be taller than necessary so you can file your front side down to match the point of impact of the ammo you intend to carry in the gun. Very few people are aware of this or actually do it. I had to file down nearly half of my front sight to bring my point of impact up to my point of aim on my Sidekick.

Based on my experience, I would have to say you have a manufactured bad Wrangler. I have not shot the Sidekick...but I own two Wranglers (Silver & Burnt Bronze), and a Heritage Rough Rider 6.5 inch 9 shot .22LR & .22WMR---and both Wranglers are every bit as accurate (if not more) than the Haritage and they have shorter barrels.

I think the Sidekick is key holing some of the rounds. The Heritage would be the only choice for a cheap 22 caliber single action.

You didn't pull one. Robin Hooded the 🎯 on the Herry.😁

My rough riders are great! Dollars to doughnuts… they win!

The heritage is definitely a shooter the side kick you're gonna have to bring that site down a little-by-little to get your Point of aim better I've seen another video On the side kick that's what the Gun Smith did with that

Very interesting test Rob! I was enjoying watching bullets hit and counting 'em. Glad that Sidekick performed better and eased your mind. The Ruger is what it is and that little Heritage made us proud.😁 Some of those were really good groups!

I don't own a Diamondback Sidekick yet but I do own the Ruger Wrangler and a Heritage Roughrider. My Roughrider will out shoot my Ruger Wrangler in the accuracy(point of aim) and precision(group size) categories(at 7 yards) all day long. But, it's not as wild as your Ruger Wrangler. The Roughrider's trigger is superior to the Ruger Wrangler's trigger. However, the Wrangler after shooting it with about 1000 rounds of .22 LR it has gotten better. Something is wrong with your Wrangler: Trigger pull, Barrel, or Sights. Something is causing very bad groups. My Ruger Wrangler, out of the box, had a loose Torx screw that is in front of the trigger guard that I had to tighten up. Check all of your Wrangler's Torx screws for looseness. Since bad groupings are happening with all four brands of .22 LR ammo, it's the gun. The Sidekick's(single action) and Roughrider's triggers are much cleaner breaks and lighter pulls than the Ruger Wrangler. But the Wrangler shouldn't be that bad of group spread. To shoot the Wrangler accurately with a good group, I have to grip the gun tight and smoothly press the trigger straight to the rear until it breaks and fires. Otherwise, you will jerk the Wrangler.

    VERY disappointing!!!!

My heritage shoots 1" groups off the bench @ 15 yds with Remington golden bullets. They aren't my favorite rounds by any means, but in this particular pistol they work great. Excellent video. Keep them coming and thanks..

Nice job. I wondered how these three would stack up. I like that you tired several different ammo. Gives the test a more real life comparison.

Great video. Funny how I've been looking for the older 9 shot Hi Standard and H&R .22 revolvers...hard to find. People really hang onto theirs. Then suddenly found the Diamond Back Sidekick. I'm looking forward to buying one.

I bought a Sidekick yesterday and haven't shot it yet but it looks and feels really good in the hand and I like the fact that it is double action and a 9 shot revolver. It is also a convertable too shoot 22 magnum.

  • @mpdjr77

Great comparison video. Thanks! I have a 6” Heritage Classic .22LR/WMR that I haven’t shot and was considering trading, but that accuracy is compelling.

I have 2 R.R.'s and bought both on sale for $99.99. They're both 6.5" barrels and I did buy the .22 WMR cylinders as well. I've owned them about 4 years and my son and I have put 1000's of rounds through them with no failures. mine are both accurate and shoot to point of aim. It's not hard to shoot quarter size groups at 25 yards from a rest. The .22LR is a bit more accurateI. I have also used it on squirrels, rabbits, ground hogs and s few musk rats. I've had a lot of fun with them, especially for the price, they're hard to beat. Get one, everyone wants and likes to shoot it.
