I apprieciate you guys taking the time and shooting a variety of ammo and showing the groups. Same as I always do with a new gun. Most gun channels just randomly fire guns into a pile of dirt and say the gun shoots good. I can get the same result with firecrackers.
I like it but I would like to see it with adjustable sights. I have two Heritage rough riders a six shot with fixed sights, and a 9 shot small bore with adjustable sights. I definitely prefer the adjustable sights. but both are super fun to plank with. I hope this gun does well. maybe they will upgrade the sights. the double action and 9 shots draws my attention for sure.
Seemed like it had more ftf than .22 lr and especially .22 wmr "normally" do? I have had that happen, for example with my new Wrangler, but a bit of direct to the pin spray cleaner and a drop of oil it eliminated the problem, whatever it was. Plus a little shooting. Love Oregon. Born in Lincoln City, raised in Prineville, worked in the valley; great outdoor state!! Married an Okie - ooops! All good though.
I usually have nothing but praise for GB he does an excellent job . However, this is a double action and I feel it ought to have been shot in this mode during the test. Just my thoughts.
To bad on the production issues, what will the camera eat? LOL This looks like a fun gun and on my short list to buy. I already have a Ruger Single Six and love it but now adding a swing out cylinder with 9 shoots, boy oh boy now that's going to be fun.
I agree. I think they were on to something wonderful but really messed it up with that zinc frame. That instantly turns me right off. Otherwise that would have been my next gun.
Lol. Same argument I heard about aluminum frames back in the 50’s and 60’s, and polymer frames in the 80’s. If there’s one constant in firearms it’s this: change is bad and new is bad, until it’s not.
Yeah. Usually zinc is associated with garbage crap they call "pot metal" which ends up crystalizing inside becoming brittle until it shatters.I get they want a low entry price point, but come on. I did buy one and I live in Florida. Should be a fun expiriment. XD en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc_pest
Thanks for the review, i noticed several rounds keyholing in the video. For a 22 revolver the accuracy is crap, I wonder if the forcing cone is two big, could be the problem with the keyholing.
It so looks like they use grips just like what's on a ruger single 6 or a wrangler is what I have I am tempted to buy this Diamondback sidekick as well I do have plenty of 22 ammo stocked up and a decent amount of 22 shots and magnum rounds shoot out of it
@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. Still pretty crap. That is, the one I have now. Returned first, got a replacement as it was not repairable. Replacement had same problem right off. Heavy double action, poor accuracy and actually broke through the metal around the firing pin. Returned that one, waiting for replacement or refund. It's a great concept and really nice features, but seems like keeping low cost has its problems.
@@vkowal46 Sorry about laughing, I've actually seen some of your posts on other videos about the troubles you've had with it. I seen this revolver at a gun show this weekend but never had heard of it before, I wanted to pull the trigger on it really bad but decided to go home and research it. I'm so glad I did, evidently it's a great concept and price, but execution of it in manufacturing is junk. I was chatting with a guy who bought one and got it home to only find out the timing was bad. He had not even shot yet and sent it in twice. He sent it back a third time and they sent him a new one only to find out it had a timing issue too. Unbelievable !
Guess I'm crazy, but to my mind virtually every manufacturer should havea similar gun in their catalog as an entry level product for their brand for new shooters.
Everyone is always going on and on about how much fun .22's are. I don't get it. Doesn't matter though. Just thought I'd mention it to get it off my chest. I feel better now. Thanks.
I understand you. They're fun when they feel like a laser beam, but miss that sound and recoil reward of torching a round off. This one was fun in 22Mag
I have this gun. I like the design, capacity, and swing out cylinder with .22 or .22 Mag. options, What I don't like is the extremely heavy trigger, tight to cock hammer, and difficult to operate cylinder release. Would I buy it again? Absolutely not. If you have weak hands this gun is useless.
Just beware of one thing...Diamondback is always out of stock of extra cylinders. I have been on a waiting list for a while now. Some of these are shipped with just one cylinder; either a 22lr or a 22mag. I went into a local gun shop and while I was at the counter, I asked for verification that it came with the two cylinders. The salesman assured me that it did. Even the tag on the gun said 22lr/22mag. I went through all the paperwork and paid for the gun. When I got the box and opened it, it had just the 22mag cylinder. I asked the manager of the store and he said that it would've cost me $60 more if they had one with both cylinders. I said I would be glad to pay the extra. He looked around and couldn't find any with the 22lr cylinder in their stock. I was pissed. I will never go back to that store again. And the wait for the cylinders to be made at the Diamondback factory seems endless. Good luck if you get stuck with one without the extra cylinder.
Expected for Winchester though. 22LR is crapolla. Got a partial refund from Olin on Winchester 333 box of defects. The Aguilla Super Extra, Blazer 22LR, Federal and Norma were good in a semi-auto.
A lot of miss fires. I wonder if the hammer set up is causing the issue. It looks a little off for single action use.that or the firing pin position isn't quite right gor the hammer shape. Just a guess I havnt shot one do i could absolutely be wrong.
Y'all are both pretty good shooters and one of you is pretty, but that thing must be a dog. I grew up shooting a Ruger Single Six. I still have it and it is very accurate with the adjustable sights. That being said I have a Heritage Rough Rider that would put that Diamondback to shame and it is way harder to shoot with the tiny fixed sights but still a ton of fun. If you and Tia have that hard a time with it at that distance that makes that one a hard pass.
If you put LR ammunition in a MAG cylinder the bullet would have unguided flight for a short while. If you put MAG ammo in a LR cylinder it wouldn't fit. There is a small step where the space for the space for the case ends and the true bore diameter begins.
Not true we can buy it in California the safe handgun roster is just for semiautomatic handguns. You can probably preorder one at Turners like lots of people did when the ruger wrangler came out in 2019
Great video! Actually if memory serves, unless I'm having a Biden moment. The first da/sa revolver came out in 1885 in England I believe. I'm building my own belt fed revolver. ( Lol )
Sometimes it swaps out quickly, Katherine times it catches. We do our best not to rehearse things so that we can show true first impressions just like you would have on your first range trip with a gun. Haha, or my favorite, shoot at a wall of steel targets with un-named ammo and call it good. I guess that works for some, it's just not our style

Wow, I'm surprised at how well the 60gr SSS did. Looks like a fun little revolver. Great review, thanks 👍
It's basically a redone Histandard Double Nine like I had in the 1980s. It was a good gun, looked better than the Sidewinder,

My main concern about that revolver is how long will the zinc frame will hold the moving parts . I like it and will wait for the long term wrap up .
I agree. I think they were on to something wonderful but really messed it up with that zinc frame. That instantly turns me right off. Otherwise that would have been my next gun.

Education needed please. What is coneing and keyholding?
Aguila SSS 60 grain bullets keyhole in almost every gun, it needs a faster twist than 16/1. It keyholes in my Heritage, its a special purpose round.

This has got to be the fourth video on this firearm where some of the bullets seem to be key-holing the target.
This will go well with my Henry Frontier model in 22 mag.
A little heavy double action trigger, indeed. Sore trigger finger and hand after 100 rds of .22. Nice video in spite of technical difficulties.
So Vince how is your DiamondBack seven months later ? 😆
