Always liked the SA .22's. I have a Single Six purchased in1973 that has thousands of rounds through it and it still runs just fine. Thanks for the review.
Diamondback did a great job bringing the side kick back to the mainstream. My dad has one from H&R in the 70s Era. Granted, his doesn't have an optional .22 mag cylinder.
I own the wrangler. But when I saw the Diamondback, and found out it was double/single action. 22lr or 22mag, 9rnd and how well it's built I had to have it. It just feels good in your hand. And is great for teaching my grandbabies proper trigger control. Now I just need some custom walnut grips.
The side kick is a better choice u got nine shot and mag as well and Thea's side kick work great and they group good at 20 yards and the dubble action is fine after u shoot about 50 rounds through it and get use to it but that's with any of them
The Sidekick interests me, but the cylinder frame is Zinc which concerns me about longevity. The build quality on the Wrangler is solid. They just came out with a Super Wrangler with a WMR cylinder. The cylinder frame is steel on that one.
Ruger announced yesterday 4/3/23: "The New Ruger Super Wrangler" - with (2) cylinders a 22LR & 22WMR, a 6.5" Barrel and "Adjustable Sights". Although it does not have fiber optic sights... I believe the Fiber Optic Sights made by Williams Fire Sights (that's fits the single 6), will also fit the New Super Wrangler. P.S.: I currently own the same version of the Ruger Wrangler that you show above with the birdshead grips (which I do love); however I will also likely get a new Super Wrangler (with the longer barrel and adjustable sights it should be more accurate).
Sure would be nice if they offered Super Wrangler in birdshead with shorter barrels. Guess we'll have to wait few more years until someone figures that out.
The Ruger Single Six is the iconic premier gun in this catagory, but, seldom is it featured in on-line videos. Price is not the most criteral factor in firearm selection and the quality of the Single Six far exceeds the Wrangler.
We do have a video on the Single Six as well as the Single Nine, they are great revolvers. This particular comparison focused on inexpensive plinkers that were sub $400.
@@HammerStriker My son has the Wrangler and it is a great gun as well. When I bought my Single Six, it was well below $400. But, that was 50 years ago and gas cost $0.23 a gallon. Even less when stations across the street from each other would get in a "gas war".
Have to bang the ejector rod on the range shelf to eject the 22lr casings; cannot do it with your hand and cannot pry them out one at a time. Unbelievable.
Ruger Wrangler all the way, and will be picking up the newly announced Ruger Wrangler convertible with auxiliary 22 Magnum cylinder as well. I usually don’t word things this strongly but…… I played with a Diamondback in my LGS, felt like trash and the finish was terrible. Thanks for the comparison video, as always, well done.

It took me 5 outings to love my sidekick. I did file down the front sight blade down about 1/8”

Well, now that you mention the Wrangler is not available in a 22 magnum I look forward to your review on the new Super Wrangler convertible
It is interesting that they released that between when we filmed and released, I will be looking at it since I do like Ruger revolvers.

The Ruger sells for under $200 in Central California. The birds head is a great shooter
I really like the sidekick but I have heard some concerning rumblings about accuracy and reliability issues.
To shoot these revolvers accurately I don't use the sights, I aim like I'm pointing my finger.

You can paint front sight with orange or white nail polish. I like the one with wood grips.

I saw that note at the end of his video as well.

I think I like the DB better, but if it had that Birdshead Grip I would not even need to look at the Ruger
They just came out with one 😅
U want go rong with the sidekick they are great guns and I can shoot dubble action just fine and it's a magnum and nine shot

What's with Ruger not putting more rounds in their revolvers

C'mon man, the diamondback sidekick is far better than the ruger
Can't really tell about the easy trigger pull as you say by holding the hammer. Need a gauge
