thank you for posting this very easy to follow video. I especially liked that you show how the finished scarf looks different knitted vs non-crochet method and how scarf looks when it's made using every hole. I was hoping you'd show a finished scarf comparing crochet method vs knitted vs non-crochet. It would be nice to see scarves in all 3 methods side by side.
Thank you. This second way of making the scarf looks so much better than the other versions. Thank you for taking the time to explain and show us the instructions in great detail!!!
Thank you for the tutorials. This is my first crochet project after about a 20 year break. Your tutorial helped me greatly! I can't believe all the negative comments. I first tried to make this scarf from written instructions and was totally lost. I had never worked with yarn like this before. Your instruction made it all make sense. Your background was fine, you did not talk to much, and there was not too much detail. It was perfect! Thank you. '
+Garrett Field Hi Dolly :0) You're so very sweet! It makes what I do worth while when there are people that I can help and it makes it even more fun for me! I love hearing from people who benefit from my videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. and I am so glad my video helped you. This was one of my first 2 videos on youtube and I can truly say I learned a lot from it! haha :0) Happy creating! Have a super week!
I'm forwarding this to my aunt who has done very little crochet. I think your slow, detailed info will be perfect for her to learn how to make this scarf. Great job, thanks.
thank you for taking the time to actually explain the differences between working every other hole vs. each hole. I've always wondered why some scarves had a bell shape vs. a ruffle shape.
Thank you so very much for this very easy to follow video and instructions! In looking at the instructions on the back of the label I was totally lost, and I took a 'chance' that someone would have posted a video and I found yours first! I unrolled the skein the way you suggested, and I can't wait to start my scarf tomorrow. My daughter will be so surprised. Again thank you so much!!!
Thank you for your video. I got the jest of working with this yarn. I am very happy I picked it up at a yard sale!!!! Been crocheting for 45 years and now I am challenging myself to learn to use new yarns and get down a new stitch every 4 months!
thank you for your tutorial. It was very helpful. I watched a few others and yours was the clearest. Thank you for posting both ways to crochet it as well.
excellent step by step instructions, great tip on preparing yarn before beginning to crochet, spoke very clearly and very clear picture on videon even when enlarged. Thanks.
I have watched several tutorials on this and was so confused. Your tutorial is clear, concise, and you give step by step instructions. I have finished 2 scarves today! They will be Christmas gifts! Thank you. Love it!!
Thank you Renee :0) I appreciate your compliment! I am adding videos regularly now, so please check back. I am working on some pattern videos! :0) Have a super week!
Thanks so much for your videos, I have watched numerous videos trying to learn how to knit (totally new to me) and croquet Sashay Yarn Ruffle Scarf. My 17 goddaughter (with absolutely no background in yarn) was taught how to knit the scarves, she in turn attempted to teach me.....I started watching teaching videos here on U tube, but most go so fast, videos are too far away from subject, instructions are vague. I came upon your videos this am as I was going to get this project down come heck or high water, lol...I have crocheted for over 20 yrs, stick to basic afghans, it is my stress relief. I tried knitting many yrs ago but just didn' care for it. I can honestly say I am confident that I can know knit (and I know it is just basic, but hey, its a start....) a scarf. Your videos are well put together, you explain and display the technique beautifully. Thank you for your time and putting these are U tube, think it is safe to say the yarn and knitting needles will stay in my hands and not fly across the room again!!! Have a Blessed and prosperous new year ~~
Great tutorial. Thanks for taking time to show us how to be creative as you. This will be my first time using the single stitch for the scarf. Will make great Christmas gifts. Thanks again.
u are my life saver. I been struggling on learning how to knit it now I can crochet it. thanks u so much u save my time on make the scarf. now I can make many of this for Christmas gift for family and friends also sell them too :) thanks u again
Thank you Bev..I am glad it worked out better for you. I have noticed that some people iron their whole skein as they roll it, and then start their work. Although, I don't feel this is necessary, maybe just ironing the first couple feet when you start may help this issue. :0) Have a super day!! Happy Crafting!
Just wanted to tell you- someone gave me sashay yarn and even though I have crocheted all my life I had no clue what to do. YOU are a great teacher- I just made a really cool scarf while surfing your channel! Thank you so much!! Excellent video!
I tried the "No Crochet Crochet" version and the scarf turned out beautifully! Your video is really helpful and I'm glad that you don't fast-forward through any parts. I'm attempting the second version, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I thought myself how to knit ten years ago. I knitted one of these scarf for my son's girlfriend and it turned out great so I wanted to see if I crotchet this as well. You make it look so easy. I know I will make a mistake and have to start over again but this how we learn. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Yvette! Your instructions were so helpful compared to any others I watched. Can't wait to sit down this evening and try this pattern! Thanks again.......from Wisconsin (Packerland)!
This was one of the best videos I've seen for using this yarn, better even than the company's videos. You do an excellent job explaining how and I'm going to try both methods. Thanks again.
Your tutorial is awesome. Best I have seen, ever. You give very succinct directions and explanations that make it easy to follow and learn. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Nancy :0) I am so glad my video helped you!! These are very popular and lots of fun to make and you can wear them quite a bit of the year depending on where you live :0)
Thank you so much, I couldn't get it in my mind just how to start. I think I'll be able to do this myself now with your instructions. I'm saving your youtube just in case I can't get that it right to start with. Again, thank you so much. OJ.
Thank you newmoon56!! I appreciate your compliment!! I love seeing all the people that are getting use of this video! It feels great! :0) Happy crafting!
thank you for the step by step video.. I've wanted to make these and I am going to give it a try today.. I watched the video on red heart but yours is so much fuller !!
I plan on using this video when I attempt to make a Sashay scarf. So far, I've made three on a knitting loom, but I would like an alternative. Thanks for posting this.
You did a great job wit video. I had got some sashay yarn for Christmas I had no idea on how to use it and with your video I am happy to try my out my sashay yarn 😊👏🏾👏🏾 thanks
Thanks for sharing your skills with us. I like that I could see and hear everything you were doing. I would work right along with you. I will be looking for more things you make and show how to. Thank you again Paper Wishes & Crafty Dreams :)
I think this is a great video for my granddaughter to learn from. She gets upset with me but I don't claim to be a teacher. I think she will learn how to do this with this session. Thanks :)
Thank you so much for making this video. I don't do much knitting but my granddaughter picked up two ball of this yard (purple and pink) and asked if I would make her and her sister a scarf for Christmas. Thanks to you I've done one already (It's not perfect). I didn't know where to start when she handed me this yard.
Hi Libby, I think that to get the bell shape you have to do the knit version as it is created by going around and around on the rows. The crochet version just goes back and forth if this makes sense. It is different in the way you turn the work when doing the crochet version compared to the knit version. I hope this was helpful :0)
Love working with this type of wool. I have already made 4 scarves, now working on my 5th. Thanks for sharing, good to know there is another way to make this scarf.
Fantastic video! Thank you for the easy to follow directions. I love how you took your time and showed in detail where the hook goes and how to each detail from start to finish. I just finished my first no crochet crochet ruffle scarf and I might add I started it earlier this afternoon and just now finished it. I was amazed that I even finished the same day I started. Thank you again!
Thank you for the compliments Tammy! I appreciate it! That is one thing people love about this scarf, it is so quick to work! Great for a last minute gift! :0) Have a super day and Happy crafting!
Thank You for this online lesson.. I loved it i went right along with my crochet scarf and it looks lovely.. I'm new the crochet world lol.. right now I'm working on a blanket for my two year old and as of now I have 2 Scarfs done.. :) SO THANK YOU!
Thanks so much for the great videos! I wanted to share what makes making this scarf go so much easier and faster for me. I am not agile with a crochet hook because of arthritis and carpal tunnel. I could not get the hook back through all the loops without it all coming apart. I went out and purchased a latch hook (the kind you use to make the latch hook rugs), and I finished the scarf within a 1/2 hour! So much easier for my old hands!
Thank you for this video. It was easy to understand; in fact, it was a lot easier to follow than the official Red Heart one which doesn't focus on the actual stitches being made. I actually thought that the repetition helped, especially in the second half as I am not used to working with this kind of yarn.
So easy! Thank you. Never crocheted before as too scared but the first instruction was so easy to follow. I did get very lost on the second method, though. Away to start! Thanks again 😄
I am not an "idiot" as the previous person calls some of us. I am very hard of hearing-almost deaf & this is a great video. Hope I can turn out something good. Thank you for all you do & your students are blessed to have you for their teacher/instructor
I wrote to you a few weeks ago because my scraf was short (different directions), happy to say my 2nd one was 56"!! Thanks for your help. still have trouble starting, have to use 2nd row to start, then switch to 1st row! :-)
Thanks Duke Louver. This was actually my first youtube video that I made for my local students, in which I learned a lot about making videos...thanks for the feedback anyways. :0)
I love the video! Very easy to follow! Do you show what the finished product looks like when you do the "real" crochet? I would like to see what the difference is. Thanks!
Thats it? really? oh come on - thats TOO easy!! i bought the yarn, and came home to find out how to make this. i cannot believe its that simple because it is SO pretty ! ! ! Thank u so so so much !
I love this! I have seen the first one before, which is the method I use, and I use the afghan hook, because I had a problem with keeping the stitches on and from bunching over the flat piece on regular hooks. I wanted to try the second version but other videos I found the clarity was not as well as yours... Thank you so much for sharing!!
Hi Shelley, I have not done a sashay scarf into an infinity scarf..I will see if I can figure it out and let you know :0) I feel it would be easy to sew the ends together since even the beginning and end don't show when all the ruffles fall over each other, but I will try this and get back to you soon. Thank you for your question, great idea! :0) Have a super day!
I feel compelled to give you so feedback, especially due to the unnecessarily rude comments of Millers and Utahs. There are multiple tutorials online for the ruffle sashay scarf and each imsturctor has her own presentation style and final finished product. The presentations that turn me off have been appreciated by others, based on their comments. Clearly, there is room for multiple versions of this free exposure. I appreciate the thoroughness of your presentation and the thoughtful manner of your step-by-step approach. It is helpful to see the different style outcomes and it is clear that you are proud of your work and eager to share that knowledge and experience. I come from a family of crafters, but don't get to use my hands in this way as often as I would like. Thank you for your patient presentation. It is excellent reminder and encouragement for me and many others.
Yes RLynne73, if you can start another one, and when you get a few inches away from the end of the skein, you can overlap 3 or 4 inches or so (one in front of the other) and keep working, not bulky at all. You will never see where you overlapped them. Same thing, if you run into a knot in your skein, just work through it, and it never shows once your scarf is complete. Hope this helps, Have a super week! :0)
Hi Kelley, You can use multiple sizes since the "stitches" are already created in the yarn. I use the hook that I recommended as it is most comfortable for me. Some ladies use a little larger or smaller, but this can slow you down as you have to try to stretch the yarns hole over the hook or if the hook is too small, I find the work slips off the hook way to easy. Also, I do try to avoid metal if I can, as it is really slippery yarn for metal hooks especially when using a smaller size :0)
Hooray!!! Now I can use the skeins of Sashay I had bought to knit. (I found it too tedious to knit.) I am a "crocheting idiot," but even I can do your No Crochet Crochet Scarf . Thank you!
thank you for posting this very easy to follow video.

I'm forwarding this to my aunt who has done very little crochet. I think your slow, detailed info will be perfect for her to learn how to make this scarf. Great job, thanks.

This is the best sashay scarf video I have watched. Thank you ...

You are very welcome Alicia! That's one great thing about this project, it is so quick! Great for last minute gifts giving! :0) Have a super day!
Hi Libby, I think that to get the bell shape you have to do the knit version as it is created by going around and around on the rows. The crochet version just goes back and forth if this makes sense. It is different in the way you turn the work when doing the crochet version compared to the knit version. I hope this was helpful :0)
Enjoyed the video. Great instructions.
Love this video. Great technique and clear and concise instruction. Thanks, I will give it a try
You're very welcome Paula! I am glad it helped :0) Have a super weekend!
This is great. I've been trying to figure out a way to crochet a ruffle scarf like the knitted pattern. This does it. Thank you.
Love working with this type of wool. I have already made 4 scarves, now working on my 5th. Thanks for sharing, good to know there is another way to make this scarf.
I love how thorough you are..thanks for a great video..cant wait to try.
Fantastic video! Thank you for the easy to follow directions. I love how you took your time and showed in detail where the hook goes and how to each detail from start to finish. Thank you for this video. It was easy to understand; in fact, it was a lot easier to follow than the official Red Heart one which doesn't focus on the actual stitches being made. Thank you Jessica! I have heard that about their video :0) I appreciate your compliment!! Have a super rest of the week!
Thank you!
So much better than Red Heart's video! I have been crocheting for 31 years, and I couldn't make heads or tails of their video!
