- Опубликовано: 3 мар 2017
- To celebrate Godzilla's 50th anniversary, Toho hired Versus, Azumi, and Skyhigh action director Ryuhei Kitamura to direct the big anniversary film that was meant to encompass the 50 year history of Godzilla. As such, it features monsters pulled right out of the Showa era but with updated designs to match the Millennium series. Watch as Godzilla and his brethren take on a group of soldiers with mutant powers, aliens that look like they came right out of The Matrix, and antics that would please Dragon Ball Z fans. Did Kitamura make a movie worthy of being called a Godzilla film or just another generic action film? Watch this special RUclips Edition to find out.
10:50 “I knew that tuna eating monster is useless” 😂
:-D
What are talking about, Final Wars' Soundtrack was AWESOME!
-Beginning Of The End
-Kazama's Suicide Attack
-Rodan Attacks New York
-Gigan Awakens
-King Of The Monsters
-Manda VS Gotengo
-Highway Battle
-Xiliens Intent
-Keizer Ghidorah Appears
-The Battle Is Over
-End Credits
Those are ALL solid tracks, and honestly, they're a breath of fresh air, especially after decades of Ifukube. Keith Emerson did a great job on those.
I like some of the soundtrack, and not others. Some of the music is just way too cheesy sounding and sounds like it si coming from an NES game.
Kaiju no Kami Sounding cheesy and like something from an NES doesn't neccessarily have to be a bad thing however, I remember more of the soundtrack of this movie than most of the showa series, honestly.
True, but here they did. However, my main point was that some of those tracks just did not fit.
You should watch the early 60s Showa movies over because they put this movie to shame.
Kaiju no Kami Did so, they hardly do.
TBH, I really like this Godzilla suit, I found it pretty awesome and dynamic.
It's cool. There are some aspects I do like, but shape of the head is what really bothers me.
i love this film its SO RIDICULOUS that it goes from stupid to amazing
Yeah, there are things I love about it and things that are just flat out dumb.
Moe Lord I agree
Kaiju no Kami I like as a Godzilla and a action movie
The techno music and the bad dubbing of the New York cop were what bothered me. And the overacting of the young alien commander.
Kaiju no Kami this reminds of a Michael bay movie
So that's how Japan thinks New York is like
Yeah that's pretty much it
I asked my dad if the movie's New York depiction was accurate. Born and raised in the state, he responded, "Pretty much."
1975.
I love it when you see the fire in Godzilla’s eye showing that he is mighty pissed
Yeah, that is a really cool shot.
What was ur favorite fight in this movie. Mine was the four way fight between Godzilla, anguirus, Rodan, and king Ceasar.
Godzilla vs Kaiser Ghidorah.
What do you think about pacific rim 1 and 2 .can you do a review on both movies?
I liked the first one, but thought the second one was dreadful. I might review them some day.
The music as the real mr.robinson had pointed out in his review of the films sounds like something you'll hear at a club.
Yep, and that is something I do enjoy about it.
Tyler Rice I really loved it, honestly.
4:31 what where they thinking
Kaiju no Kami how much screen time do you think Godzilla has in this movie?
Well he shows up an hour into the movie and the second hour is pretty much him just beating the crap out of other monsters, so I would say about 30-35 minutes.
What Godzilla fight do you think is the most brutal.
Godzilla and Gigan.
Oh okay I see but what is your favorite Godzilla design
A toss up between the 64 one and the 2002 one.
2:48 again and with this one HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE TO TO HAVE EVERY SINGLE SENTAI, METAL HERO, AND KAMEN RIDER IN THE UNIVERSE AS GODZILLA?
lol
You said this Godzilla's head looks more like a rat at times, but I don't see that. Although I kind of see something similar to your thoughts to mine with the Kiryu saga version where I think his head looks very wolf like at times.
It's the way the lighting hits the head when we get a shot of him from the front. The ears, nose, and the way the shadows hit the teeth just make me think of a rat.
can you do a your top 10 Godzilla designs
At some point, I might. :-)
What is your least favorite Godzilla fight
Either the one against Space Godzilla or the one against Mothra and Battra.
I’m happy after 65 years Godzilla still going strong
It is interesting when something lasts this long and still has material coming out.
Could you make a top ten Godzilla suit list
Hmmmmmmmmm, that's a cool idea. I'll have to take that one into consideration.
Captain Gordon is one of my favorite human characters along with the pilot of mecha godzilla lll
watching the movie as a little kid was amazing
lol I was 22 when it came out.
How was it that the gotango manged to survive the waves of ships was it on god mode ?
Of course. :-)
Actually Minilla convinced Godzilla to let go of his hatred of humanity.
Either way, it's dumb. :-)
I do have a good idea for a video you could do a old vs new like nostalgia critic with destroy all monsters and Godzilla final wars
Not sure I'll ever do it, but I'll keep it in consideration. :-)
Minya convincing Godzilla to spare the humans was the most useful thing he's done in any of the movies that he's appeared in!
True, but still dumb.
Hedorah was supposed to have more screen time but they cut all of his scenes and the director of Godzilla vs hedorah was kinda pissed
I know. It's funny how they show one of those scenes during the end credits.
Headorha was to have more screentime as there was a scene where he attacked Tokyo which would parody a comedy series but the producer shot it down
Which is so stupid considering they could have cut out a half hour worth of the garbage humans.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Less of the monsters, let alone the title character and more about humans that we do not care about.
Yay, anniversary celebration 😒
Could have been worse. Could have been King of the Monsters. :-)
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork What, a decent balance between human drama and monster fights, let alone fights that deliver in spectacle and don't last for like a minute? Oh yeah, who wants to see that?! 😒
You know the copy right icons on the back of a Godzilla dvd or blu ray why was hedorah even on the back of the final wars box even though he’s in the movie for two seconds
lol
I like how this is a remake of destroy all monsters in that movie all the monsters where under control as you know but in this movie at least earth has hope to stop these creatures and his name is
Godzilla
"Okay so I guess Japan thinks New York is permanently set in 1975...... and also a Looney Toons cartoon apparently."
Brandon's Cult Movie Reviews
lol
What is your favorite Godzilla fight of all time mine the final battle in King Kong vs Godzilla
That would be a toss up between the final fight with Biollante, the Kiryu/Godzilla fight at the end of the first Kiryu film, and the battle against Ghidorah in DAM.
Kaiju no Kami do you like the final battle in King Kong vs Godzilla
It's cool, but I definitely prefer it in the Japanaese version due to Ifukube's soundtrack.
Kaiju no Kami I like the final battle in Godzilla vs biollante but it not as fun as some of the ones in the showa era
It might not be as fun, but the music and the effects work make it so badass.
Watched this movie Saturday and I love it even more
In 1974, King Caesar was the protector of Okinawa. 30 years later, his entrance is of him destroying the aforementioned location.
By the way, Ozaki looks so much like Keanu Reeves, which is interesting because there are numerous homages to the Matrix, like the 360 spin-pauses around the characters during the action sequences, among other aspects.
In regards to the music, I only liked the track used during the end sequence. I wish the rest of the track sounded as decent as that piece.
lol You are right, Ozaki does kind of look like Keanu.
+Kaiju no Kami The best way to copy another movie: Cast someone who looks just like an actor from the original fact 😎.
Could you review the giant claw?
I may at some poit.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork honestly not that bad just when bird on the screen kinda goes down hill
(18:26) Oh god, I JUST NOTICED! The smoke that came from the plane DRIFTS OFF after the plane explodes! It moves offscreen!!
This was shown in THEATERS.... *IN 2004!!!* The incompetency is just jawdropping!
lol I never noticed that either until you just said something.
That shit is right outta fucking *FOODFIGHT* . There's bad special effects and then there's not giving a shit
If I had to compare my GFW experience with something, it would be the South Park episode Towelie, where the gang buy a gaming console that gets stolen by a government agency and the boys get help from another agency that tells them a huge, detailed backstory for their motives, but Stan keeps replying with "We don't care". Near the end of the episode, the boys get their console back and they play without noticing the huge battle going around them.
That was my experiece with this movie. It kept throwing me this detailed story and situation involving the humans that kept overshadowing the monster fights and every time it did, I was showting "I DON'T CARE! SHOW ME THE MONSTER FIGHTS!!".
I don't think I've seen that South Park episode.
I highly recommend it, it's one of my favorites
What season is it from?
5
11:30 what movie is that from
Well I got movie called ape could you review it on the future
There's a lot I could review in the future. If only I could freeze time to do so. :-D
19:16-19:27 I never understood that scene why is he saying good job
I think it was supposed to be for him bringing in two girls, but I'm not sure as it is poorly executed.
Anyone remember how Godzilla Save The Earth had unlockable art from Final Wars?
Save the Earth was the PS2 version, right?
Kaiju no Kami PS2 and Xbox
Xavier Productions Yah I do when I unlocked them i thought it was just consipt art for the game but when the movie came out I was OMG spoiled alert😱😱😱 it was the Final wars movie even my brothers were supprise because we loved that game as a kid
This is my favorite movie in the series mostly cause of the sheer entertainment factor
Understandable.
Do you like the monster manda
He's okay.
Yeah. Independence Day style into a Star Wars style reactor. To take down the mothership's shield. My guess is they took a little everything from every franchise they could think up, rather than limit it to just Godzilla.
Seemed that way. Then again, that is probably all Kitamura could do to pay tribute to the Heisei series.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork fun fact: kitamura hates the heisei series
Where would you rank this
Someone around 20.
This is one of my favorite Godzilla movies of all time because my first ever video game was Godzilla save the earth and final wars is the movie equivalent to that game
I guess I can see why. I really liked the first one Destroy All Monsters Melee.
Have you seen WW84 what are your thought if you have
I talk about in my movie rankings of 2020. I thought it was utterly boring.
Why do you hate the Godzilla 2004 suit
I wouldn't say I hate it, it's just not one of my favorites, especially after the amazing suit in the previous two movies.
Hands down this has the best Godzilla beat down of all time
It does have that.
Dude the reason he throws the turtle in the fire because it’s pretty much Toho saying fuck you gamera
why the cover is Kun fu football?
Becuase that was the thumbnail RUclips chose back then.
Fun Fact: The name Gorath comes from another Kaiju movie Toho movie made named Gorath.
Yep.
What do you think of god of war 2 and 3
I love the whole series. Well except for that PS3 prequel to the prequel.
Kaiju no Kami god I want a PlayStation so bad now
Kaiju no Kami what is your favorite boss battle in the god of war series
@@Randomshit2727 Atlas.
Holyshit Takarada-san is a vampire confirmed.
lol
Who would win GMK Godzilla or final wars Godzilla
GMK Godzilla.
Kaiju no Kami I think there evenly matched
@Matthew Ferrara
Size doesn't matter, just because Final Wars Godzilla was 100 meters, doesn't mean it can defeat GMK Godzilla.
Final wars Godzilla. It is just my opinion
I don’t get when the kid is in front of his grandpa the grandpa can point out the gun up and bam
We’ve had slim Godzilla’s In the showa era
My favorite moment in the movie where Godzilla beats the crap out of Keizer Ghidorah and throws then blows him up with his atomic breath
That is a pretty awesome scene.
This movie is actually my third favorite Godzilla movie.
I don't have too many problems with it, or best said, I think it's a very unique entry in the Godzilla franchise because it has it's own feel to it.
The another reason it's my third favorite Godzilla movie it's probably because I was born on July 5, 2003, five months before "Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S." came out and a year before this one came out.
So yeah, I was born during the last two films in the Millennium series.
By the way, this one is still awesome.
Cool. What's your favorite scene from the film?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork The one when Godzilla uses his spiral heat ray to send Kaizer Ghidorah back in space and blows him to pieces.
That scene is pretty awesome.
This is one of those movies that had the misfortune of its creative staff trying too hard to appeal to everyone, which never turns out well.
Agreed.
I wish they had ALL Godzilla Kaiju
That would have been pretty cool.
BTW Nice Reviews
But The All Kaiju Were Featured as Toys in The Credits
Emerson *will* never score a Godzilla movie again because he killed himself....
Yep.
This movie's the perfect ending to the entire millennium series considering that it's more or less a remake of Monster Zero and Destroy all monsters with its aliens taking over earth by capturing and controlling monsters and using them to destroy humanity. Add to the fact that Godzilla spends his most of screentime kicking lots of monster ass makes this one of the best Godzilla movies ever made! That said the movie could've been better considering that Godzilla barely has any screentime in this movie in contrast to the other movies but oh well.
Godzilla's screen time is no more or less than any other film though.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I know. It's just that the movie focused way too much on the humans to the point where it feels less like a Godzilla movie and more like a live-action anime movie but that's just me.
This is actually my favorite Godzilla suit and movie.
Nothing wrong with that. What's your favorite scene?
Kaiju no Kami mine is the scene where he kills Keizer Ghidorah
I love this movie because it’s my favorite!
Nothing wrong with that.
The only thing I’m disappointed with this movie is that kiryu didn’t come back, it would have been cool to see him help Godzilla and mothra when they fought Gigan and monster x
Kaiju no kami I saw some clips of the original dragon ball and some of crude humor surprised me
I found this sculpture of a concept design for this movie's version of Godzilla.

Do you think it looks better than the final design?
I'm not sure, but I do like how he looks more in line with the Millennium design.
I think godzilla took the jerry subway diet
lol
Just watched this again While its not awful. it is very difficilt to follow for extended periods. But very entertaining for a mostly non-Godzilla Godzilla movies.
Agreed.
i watched it alredy and it was the coolest movie ever i lov the mothra vs gigan part
That was a cool battle.
Saber athena yes it is the coolest movie ever but I think king of the monsters is going to top it
I hold this movie close to my heart mainly because it was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw
Nothing wrong with that. What's your favorite scene?
Kaiju no Kami I have a lot probably when all the monsters are attacking the countries oh and definitely Godzilla vs Zilla
Kaiju no Kami yours?
Godzilla's fight againt Kaiser Ghidorah.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I’m coming back to this comment 2 years later to say to say I don’t really see this movie as a movie I see it as an experience and tribute
The Final Wars Has Begun For Godzilla
This is my third favorite Godzilla movie
Did you know that Rodan and minilla where portrayed the same person but it was a female which I had no Idea
Yep.
Some of the CGI looked bad, some of the scenes were cringe worthy, but overall.....I'd say this is easily in my top 5 Godzilla Movies.
4:34 That lip syncing is always hilarious! I always wonder if that's done by mistake or if the language was too strong for the movie so they had to censor it.
My guess is that they recorded the video first and then added in the dialog after.
When I got a look at where the cop's lips don't match the words, it did look like a couple f bombs were dropped here and there. I think the overdub was to censor out the language.
Probably.
ataragon not gotango
Is Dogora a good movie or a a bad one.
I like it. I hope to review it this summer.
Kaiju no Kami how is latitude zero
I have no watched that one yet at all.
I think the special effects have some really got parts to them. The CGI is definitely not the worst and is in fact one of the best of the millennium series. Its not terrible like in Godzilla 2000. Overall the CGI doesn't bother me at all. The miniatures are pretty good, especially when buildings explode. The cinematography is fantastic! The monsters however are definitely a mixed bag. Many of them look like guys in suits (the worst being King Shisa. He is static and looks like a guy in a suit so much that its embarrassing). While Gigan and Monster-X look cool, they still look like men in suits. Keizer Ghidorah looks pretty cool, but the main problem I have is that he is kinda disproportionate looking. Its mostly the legs. The transformation was really cool looking though and well done. Also Godzilla looks kinda wolf like. Same with his previous incarnation my God, talk about wolfzilla.
Have you seen clash of the titans 1981
Yes and I love it.
Gigan looks cool but he does NOT look like a true giant monster. He looks more like a cenobite from hellraiser!
Awe man, now I totally missed out on a Hellraiser joke for this review. Oh well. :-D
Final Wars' monster fights in a nutshell: ruclips.net/video/m9gbBKx6-P4/видео.htmlm36s
Love this chaotic movie, Godzilla can deliver good message but sometimes u know what? Just bring all the monster in, yes even the giant lobster, and have them duke it out it just so fun. And that glorious 10 seconds of Zilla, nice Touhou 😆. Though my only sin is how Hedorah got washed so easily! My sludge monster come so close to killing Godzilla, he deserve more spotlight damn it 😆
A lot of the monsters deserved more.
I do not like how kaiju like hedorah have barely have any screen time
Yeah, not a fan of that.
What you should have said there is a lot of monsters instead there is a lot of monsters suits
?
Kaiju no Kami In your review you said there was a lot of monster suits even some of the monsters aren’t suits you should have said there are a lot of monsters
Easily my second favorite Godzilla movie ( after Godzilla resurgence)
What's your third favorite?
Kaiju no Kami mothra vs godzilla
Awesome choice.
My new top ten is
10. Destroy all monsters
9. King Kong vs Godzilla
8. Ghidorah the three headed monster
7. Invasion of Astro monster
6.mothra vs Godzilla
5. Terror of Mechagodzilla
4. Godzilla king of the monsters
3. Godzilla vs destroyah
2. Godzilla final wars
1. Godzilla 1954
Only #10 is showing up.
Kaiju no Kami done
Cool list.
To be honest i love this one more than the original
I'll pretend I didn't read that. :-) j/k
I would rather watch Final Wars for the rest of my life than sit through Tokyo S.O.S. again. For all the talk about this film being a travesty or a massive disappointment at least it had its own feel to it.
I disagree, but that's cool. I personally loved SOS being a sequel to GagainstMG and being placed in a Showa universe as it gave the movie more depth. Plus the monster battles were superior to those found here.
Kaiju no Kami I guess I feel GFW tried to be different rather than the same ol same ol. wasnt always successful (like it did borrow so much from other films that felt dated even back then...). but GXMG and to a greater extent SOS were just so... safe! paint by the numbers! plus sure Godzilla was OP in FW (and the battles were... brief, shall we say?) but it beat the hell out of the walkikg punching bag/plot point that was Godzy in the Kiryu films. either way thanks for encouraging discussion and debate and not being a dickweed!
Well like I said in the review, I can't hate the movie, as it is a lot of fun. I just wish it had done things different. Ripping off Dragon Ball and The Matrix does not help its cause. I like the Kiryu movies because they gave us an awesome looking Godzilla, excellent characters (especially in the first one), and the concept of using the original Godzilla's bones for Kiryu was so obvious it's a wonder Toho never did that plot decades ago. It also finally gave us a real reason for why a robot Godzilla exists compared to that waste of a 93 movie.
I do agree about Godzilla being a punching bad though in the first Kiryu movie. That was its biggest negative for me.
Kaiju no Kami the first one certainly had some good characters. and I agree the shodai bones was a geniuns move as well! though for 93 you gotta figure... you got a cyborg future dragon taking up space that needs to be rebuilt as something, I'm sure making a robot Godzilla out of that was the logical next step! ( if you follow heisei logic that is...)
Understandable. Tokyo S.O.S. focused heavily on action, and light on story.
You tricked me with that thumbnail
How so?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I thought it was going to be a review on Shaolin Soccer without looking at the title. Was surprised and happy initially. It's everyone's favourite movie!
lol
Shaolin Soccer is such a fun movie, but no, I didn't use thumbnails with titles for my first few years and have never had the chance to update the older reviews with them.
Kaiju no Kami there is a RUclips series you need to watch called smg4 its awesome and hilarious.
I'll try to do so once everything calms down with getting my panels ready for Anime Detour and trying to get my next few reviews out.
Kaiju no Kami it a really weird series it’s about Mario and other characters and weird stuff happens.

Don’t judge me but I love this movie equally to the 1954 classic
Nothing wrong with that.
Kaiju no Kami Is this movie a crossover
Not really.
Kaiju no Kami but you have monsters that have never been in the same movie
I think the director was paying homage to the showa era with all the craziness of the showa era. The monster fights are very similar to the fights to a lot of those fight being goofy and silly
Every one of the monsters has appeared in a Godzilla film though.
Kaiju no Kami true
That ‘85 imperial Godzilla toy!!!!
Yep. It was my second Godzilla (the first was the 6inch version).
Do you like Independence Day
The first one's not bad.
Do you like Independence Day the movie
The first one was fine, but I hated the second one.
This movie is has awesome action.
And I actually really like how most of the fights end pretty quick since it some ways it feels like a boss rush.
And I actually really like the suit since it reminds me so much of the Heisei ones.
Though the pacing isn't really great. And there where mabey a few characters that stand out. Mainly the Captain with the sword and mustache and alien smith.
Other than that I felt the rest of the cast felt pretty bland.
The effects look cheep.
The music I thought was decent and there where a few tracks that I like. And I don't really hate it. Though it's not as impressive like in the previous movies.
So overall this movie is kinda a mix bag but I both like it and dislike it for different reasons.
Yeah, I still enjoy this one, but I also totally get it if someone does not like it. It's a Kitamura movie first, a Godzilla movie second.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Yeah that's pretty much it.
I enjoyed Final Wars.
So this film is a copy of Dragon Ball matrix and independents day
You forgot The Matrix. :-)
Kaiju no Kami I know I say matrix
lol I'm blind. I only saw DB and ID.
Zilla cgi was on purpose because 1998
I know.
This movie goes from stupid to cheesy hilarious to awesome. I disagree I think this Godzilla suit is one of the best of the series. They did not need to have that motorcycle chase and we could've gotten more Gigan and Hedorah. I wish they had Baragon, Varan, Megalon, and Titanosaurus in the movie. Don Frye is just fun as hell in this. I hope if the MonsterVerse continues we get to see Gigan appear in the future and have his design be based off this movie.
I would love to see Gigan.
Kaiju no Kami Mike Dougherty wished he could put a Gigan Easter egg in KOTM.
Personally this is my second favorite Godzilla movie
What's your favorite fight?
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork overall or in this movie?
In this movie.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Godzilla vs Zilla because he just destroyed that bastardization of Godzilla with absolute minimal effort
