Do you want to see more editing tutorials like this?
yes :)
The automated Multicam workflow on Final Cut is a godsend!! Could you maybe do one where you have multiple clips? For instance, on a longer shoot, the average camera shoots for just under 30 mins continuously. Is there an easy way to set up Multicam clips for maybe 2-3 such clips (an overall runtime of like 1.5 hours or so)? Just as an example.Right now I normally try and cut/restart all at around the same time so as to make multiple Multicam clips, but is there an easier way? Thanks!
Yes please mate. Cheers Steve
Yes! Always love hearing fellow FCPX users show what they do on it
Yes! Your editing videos are very good and I always want to edit as quickly and efficiently as possible.
omg i can't believe I've been using FCPX for 2 years without using this feature 😐
Thanks to this video I understand how easy it is to work with multicam clips, appreciate it!
I feel your pain!!!!!! Pushing 10 years on Final Cut....didn't know
same here, been using it for a few years already, and this is just an amazing tool, im editing a cooking show with 4 and sometimes 5 cameras, this is heaven for this kind of projects. thanks for sharing
this is one of the best and most simple tutorials I've seen in terms of multicam editing. Most of the videos I see are extremely long winded and give out too much information at once. This was a great but informative watch. I salute you sir. You've not only helped me speed up my work flow but thousands of others. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial. I have been manually putting 3 camera footages and 1 audio together for a while now. I kept telling myself there has to be an easier way to do this and your Multicam Editing has helped greatly. It has gone so much quicker and smoother then I've ever could have thought possible. Thank you so much!!!!
Really nice tutorial! Used these tips today to make my first multicam reel and it came out super fast and easy and some of what you shared will go into my next shoot for even more efficient workflows! Appreciate your work as always!
Absolute life saver! thank you so much! I just found out about the audio drifting/synchronizing feature and then studied this. I've been manually editing for hours with 2 camera angles and 4 microphone inputs!
i may be working for a dj company as a video editor so thank goodness i looked up this video tutorial. the manager i personally speak with asked me if i can edit with 3 camera and synced audio. this was helpful!
What i love about this video is the fact that unlike nearly every video tutorial, it goes beyond the absolute basics This is very comprehensive thank you!!
Jeven you are the man! I'm doing my first ever multicam edit and this video saved me days of trying to cobble this together on my own. Your work is inspiring and extremely helpful, I have learned so much from you. Keep it up!
Thank you!! This is the easiest to follow tutorial I’ve seen! I literally managed to edit a 3 cam, 4 audio project straight after watching - my workflow just got a whole lot easier!
This is the most useful tutorial I've seen yet on FCPx Multicam editing, thanks for sharing.
This is absolutely the best video on multicam in FCPX of all the ones I've seen on RUclips. Easy and to the point. Thank you!! 👍
I went through about 3 tutorials for this and none of them made sense and left out crucial information. This was super concise and it finally clicked for me. THANK YOU!
Best tutorial ever. Not just in this subject. I'm talking "EVER". Perfect execution
Thank you Jeven, this is extremely helpful.. I've been creating video full time for clients for the past 15 months or so.. Learning as a go, videos like these have carved the way!
I came across this video at the perfect time! I will totally use this technique for a training event this coming Saturday. Thank you! This is a total lifesaver!
Thank you for this awesome tutorial!! I had just shot a wedding using three cameras in different parts of the church and had never heard of Multicam editing. Wow! What a huge timesaver. And you explained it so clearly. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Thanks Jeven, this is pure gold as I've now moved to using multiple camera. It'll speed me up no end. cheers
Thank you so much for this appropriate length tutorial on this great feature. I am an amateur musician who wants to put his work out on the interwebs and making music videos with this feature is so easy with your instructions.
Jeven! You always have the information I need, and so clearly explained. I had been using synced clips which obviously takes way longer. Thank you!
Excellent! I actually feel more comfortable trying this out. My project is to edit my wedding videos (from 35 years ago!). The ceremony itself was shot on three cameras all running uninterrupted, so syncing that part should be easy, thank you FCP. But all three cameras were also used independently for before and after the ceremony and at the reception, so I need to get smarter on how to slice that up and only apply multicam to the synced clips.
This tutorial is great. I will admit I didn't grasp every thing the first time I watched it. After trying a few multicams, watching a couple of other simpler videos. I can't back to this and now I really get it.
I'm watching it one more time and taking notes.
Jeven - I saved this video a while back and have just watched back alongside creating my first multicam and what can I say... massively impressed with this video, awesome guide. Lost me for a minute when sourcing the footage to make a multicam starting off and then again with creating a new timeline when I already had one so had to reference the internet again being a complete FCPX novice but thank you man, this is a game changer for me. Everything in this video is amazing and has worked a treat - thank you once again!!!
absolutely brilliant thank you. I'm a novice at FCPX but this makes editing basic music videos SO simple!
Plowed through several videos on the topic and this is by far the best and only video to answer all my needs to get started in multicam editing on FCP which I've just switched from Premiere Pro, thanks Jeven!
Thank you for the walk through! One thing that saved me time is to color grade files before muilticam syncing.
I don't why I didn't watch this video years ago. I was always somewhat intimidated by Multicam but you really made it easy and very understandable. Thank you. You are saving me so much time.
Dudeee, life saver for someone stepping up the game from simple phone clips to proper editing in pro software. Thank you man
I was googling for help with this so I could learn to do multicam editing more efficiently and I just came across your video. ☺️ this was really great. loved your way of explaining everything. super useful!
Super helpful video Jeven. Thank you! I'm literally working on my first project in FCP and I was able to follow along easily. Except for 7:30 where you lost me on creating a new timeline. Thankfully someone in the comments already asked and answered the question so I'm good to go!
Im stuck on that timeline, how is it make?
I appreciate your thoroughness. this is the fist video I've seen that explained it in detail. Thank you so much.
Thank you for explaining this so clearly!!!! I am a Pilates teacher NOT an editor lol, but I do edit my own videos. I've been using Filmora 9 for the past few years, but just upgraded to FCP. This tip has made my life SOOOOOO much easier! Thank you thank you!!
i'm switching to final cut from premiere because premiere keeps on freezing my computer. out of all the FCPX tutorials this is the only one i can find that actually explains the multicam in a way i would understand. Step by step, no skipping. Thanks. Great video.
Great tutorial, super helpful advice !! I got stuck with a multicam project and followed your guidance. Can't thank you enough.
Very helpful. Just used your tutorial to help me marry up footage from my iPhone 12, GoPro 9 and Nikon Z7ii. Worked perfectly. I will now have to go and create some more multi-cam material so I can practice before I forget!!!
WOW! Amazing, Jeven! you make it look SO simple and easy to learn thanks to your wonderful teaching style! Thanks for so much wonderful content!!
Useful - I am now doing my very first 3 camera multi-angle clip and selecting the microphones as well. THANK YOU Jeven!
This is the single most helpful video I've discovered for multi-cam editing, my workflow was really tedious and it made me put off editing. Thank you so much!
The trim tool saved my LIFE! (W and Q buttons) ❤️😂
Thank you for making this video Jeven. I've been having a bit of a challenge learning until I found your video. After rummaging through my Final Cut program and different projects that I've been trying to get started on while cross referencing this video... I am relieved to say that I am finally making progress understanding. I appreciate the effort you went through to share this knowledge. Thank you! Excellent job and very cool work through. You are a talented guy. Keep it up!
So helpful!! Will be watching again, I do multicam financial tutorials and had no idea I could do this in FCPX. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for the thorough tutorial on this feature! For me, this was the most helpful video on using this feature. You covered all the most important workflow tips necessary to get faster on multicam editing.
Jeven thanks so much! This is exactly the setup I have (2-3 cams and separate audio), and the workflow I have been missing. Your explanation is really well organized, clear, and concise. And the quality of your lighting, exposure, grading, audio, not to mention editing of course - really excellent. One of the best video tutorials on RUclips - nice work!
How do you want to keep 4 cams running when they are dynamically operated by camerapeople? This is what I need to know for filming dance videos. The lack of a vertical dimension to the timeline is killing me. As is the inability to edit to audio that is externally sourced
@@gold333 For a recent wedding, I used 3 cameras plus separate audio recorders, all synchronized with timecode: For the cameras, I record onto Atomos Ninja V, all synchronized with Atomos Sync modules. One camera is the master, and the others are slave, and they wirelessly sync. I use the Ultrasync for the recorder(s), and it is also linked to the master Atomos. I was able to import the 3 camera footage, plus audio from a mix-pre-10 and 3 Tentacle Track-E bodypacks and it all aligned perfectly. One thing that makes it easier is - just leave all the recorders running for the whole event, assuming you have sufficient storage on your Atomos (I put 2 TB drives on each). Then import everything and align with timecode. Then it is easy to go in and cut/delete what you don't need, and start editing the clips you do need.
@@ericpersson8753 This makes no sense. How do you want me to keep 4 camera people and a flying drone continuously shooting RAW 14 bit video for 5 hours? A dance video is tens of performances of the same 3 minute dance routine for hours. Filmed by a static wide angle cam, a dynamic close up 50mm, a face zoom from 85mm+ and a drone doing aerial shots. All cameras record the exact same body beats (body movements, choreography).
In Premiere I could sync up all clips vertically so that the entire 3 minute edit was in sync across all cameras (clips). I.e. timestamp: 0:27:37 all dancers hip thrust. That hip thrust was in sync across all clips (all cameras) because they were stacked vertically in the timeline.
If I said I want the static wide angle cam to hold a half second longer on the hip thrust I simply drag out and extend that clip and drag back the clip following it. -Things didn't suddenly go bouncing around the timeline destroying my overall choreography sync-. if I changed the length of a single clip.
I can't do this in FCPX and I think its hell, because it renders faster than Premiere
@@gold333 It seems that what worked for me is probably not a good fit for your situation - I didn't realize how much footage you are talking about. Regardless, I think timecode could be beneficial for your timeline coordination. Good luck and post a link when you get a finished product we can see.
@@ericpersson8753 i will try it. Thanks 👍😊
What a wonderful explaination!! Clean and to the point. It showed me everything I needed. Now to do it enough to get good at it...that's the trick. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this video! I’m editing a four cam hockey game on NHl ice and have never used the multi cam feature!! This will safe me SO MUCH TIME!! Thanks again
I’m back again and having a more serious go this time. It’s great to have your videos without which I could not do this ( at least not in this life)
This was so incredibly helpful, especially the tips on how to set yourself for a solid workflow. Thanks!
I've tried for literally years to master the multicam protocols, with no lasting success. Tried several lesson sequences; this is the FIRST time I have truly understood and made work the technique involved.. Can't wait to try other videos of yours for application to other long-term mysteries.
Thank you, I just finished my video using your guide. Lots of love!
Man, thank you so much for this! I was dumbfounded and how people filmed videos with camera cuts so effortlessly.
Super useful! Love that you included what to do if you have two takes on one camera!
This is incredibly helpful and to the point! Thank you. You're a great teacher.
Thank you for this video. Been watching videos about how to use this feature but none go into detail like you.
Thank you bro. Just what I was looking for. I was so happy to see that you had a video on this👊
fantastic video tutorial. Thank you for for the clear, easy to understand direction, you sued saved me a ton of time
Just what I needed! I just got Final Cut Pro and am learning how to use it. Thanks!
You're a real one for this video. I reference it all the time. thank you so much!
TYSM for this Jeven
This is genius tutorial stuff you’re throwing at us. Absolutely phenomenal presentation. Thank you very much.
this is money! thank you for this - I'm trying this out now and I would love to see more tutorials!
thanks for creating the video and sharing. you clearly explained it all and made it simple. thank you
Easy to follow simple no frills explanation. Great job👌🏼
perfect tutorial: clear, concise, just the right amount of walk-through. thanks!!
Very helpful! I’m planning on getting a second camera so I can shoot my guitar vids in one take instead of shooting head shots and guitar closeups separately. I was wondering how my editing process will change once I add the extra camera, and this answered a lot of my initial questions.
THIS TUTORIAL MADE IT SOOOOO CLEAR!!! Thank you!!!!🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
You explain so well, make it seems very easy and intuitive. Thanks Jeven!
OMG, I have been pulling my hair out editing multiple timelines for years. Editing has been a long drawn-out process which has worked but has been so time consuming and at times frustrating beyond words... I had almost given up on doing weddings and such like... This is brilliant, just can't thank you enough...
This feature is a game-changer for many. Appreciate the detailed explanation, good on ya mate!!!
man you're a legend, your videos have saved me so many times. thanks for another great video
thank youuuuu so much for making this video OMGGGGG i was about to give up on learning how to edit on FCX due to the whole audio sinking and cutting clips correctly aligned to each other ughhh omg u have saved me
This was exactly what I needed to know, thank you for sharing.
I've returned to this tutorial over and over. Thanks for the clarity and thoroughness. Much appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
thank you so much for this. editing a Multicam video podcast and this was perfect!
Liked this video cause it shows everything I needed to know about multicam clips. Awesome stuff.
Bro…do you know how many hours I’ve wasted not using this.. I don’t know who you are but I love you.
I love this guide, it's clear and helpful! Thank you!
This is awesome, will need to review a few times. Huge help!
I’ve been breaking my brain manually cutting podcasts for over a year
Thank you for this easy to understand education ❤️
This is the best video tutorial for Multicam FCP. Thanksss a lot to do it simple and easy for me!
So helpful and easy to understand 😀. I highly appreciate your tutorials. 👍🏻 Thanks a lot.🤩
As always Jeven, great content, and well delivered! This is a whole new workflow for me in FCPX. Like CubeHead said below, I can't believe I've never tried this feature till now.
Brilliant - you covered short cuts for changing the audio etc that no one sees seems to do. NOW I get it :-)
i use multicam clips all the time and NEVER knew i could view all at the same time in a preview till now. i normally copy and past the compounded clip multiple times and stack them so they are all in place and in synch but oh man oh man. this is gonna help even more knowing that preview is an option.
Thank you
I recently did some multicam interviews and used this technique. I had watched an older tutorial and while it was good, yours really simplified it, Some of the stuff I had to figure out on my own. I had planned to do my own tutorial, but you beat me too it ;) I still may do one because I had some different things come up. Anyway, great job on this.
Thanks a lot for the video ! Very clear and usefull ! You make my day !
Still as helpful as all I ever watched from you, thanks a lot !
Thank you so much for sharing this saved me a lot of time
