hey man I know these things are not easy to make and take a ton of time, so thanks for making it! switching from Premiere to FCP has me more excited about editing than I've been in a long time
Thank you so much for sharing this, I've started doing freelance editing for Instagram reels and needed some guidance on the best export settings. I learnt so much more from this video too!
Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful video! As a total beginner to Final Cut, I felt overwhelmed, but your clear instructions made it feel like a shortcut to mastering the basics. I never thought it would be this easy to get started. I’m so grateful you shared this for free on RUclips!
This video came at the perfect time. The only thing really missing from Final Cut that I'd love it automatic captions. With Apple's focus on integrating AI with everything, it should've been there. Thanks Tyler!
Hi Tyler, thanks a lot for this video. Just bought myself en M4 MacMini and are finally able to switch from iMovie to FCP. This was a great intro to FCP was playing around with it but this gives a great structure for every vid I am going to make. 🙏🏻. I will follow you and see what more tips you have. 👍🏻
You can edit the slow motion still if when you AirDrop you go to Options at the top and select "all data".... .then the slow mo is not baked in, and you still have your video clip in a high FPS
Hi Tyler, many thanks for this wonderful video! The switch to 720 x 1280 is very helpful for my workaround. I usually edit all my videos in full HD and then I'm using the material to create Reels. I copy the project of the horizontal video and change the settings to vertical. Then it has automatically the right size for my videos as they are missing 1/3 of the picture on left and on right side. I'm not filming twice for horizontal and for vertical, I am reusing the material. And I think this is done by the most people. So Apple just gave convenience. Best, Julia
Amazing video thank you so much for the help, one question I see you said about using SDR instead of HDR. It says HDR is 10 bit in iPhone does this mean the SDR is not 10 bit. Thank you.
Always 100% great thanks Tyler. Also a number of comments as to SDR v. HDR here. Also wondering about this; and did you do a video about this previously?
♦♦Hola, porfavor me puedes decir qué LUT usaste en este video????????? por favor!! se ve genial la imagen!!!!!! quedo muy pendiente de tu respuesta, así sea en inglés yo lo traduzco, GRACIAS♦♦ TRADUCIDO: Hello, can you please tell me what LUT you used in this video????????? please!! the image looks great!!!!!! I am very awaiting your response, even if it is in English I will translate it, THANK YOU!!!!
isn’t it that you can still adjust the slo mo and even the depth of field of cinematic mode videos if you will just airdrop with “all photos data” ticked on?
Apple is always late with features, but they turn out better. Final Cut will probably have a rotoAI type feature in a few years or so. Hopefully sooner 🤞🏼
Great Video. Thank you! What if i have a mix of vertical and landscape videos. Is there a better way use landscape videos in vertical format without using any external plugins?
I was also under the impression that Izotope (plugins specifically) no longer officially supports FCP. Having to export, process and import seems to be a pain point.
Is there a reason you prefer AirDrop to importing into Photos or importing hardwired from iPhone into FCP? Does AirDrop send the files over in their original codec (H264, HEVC, ProRes)?
Why can‘t I find the AI generated SLO Mo Option in my FCP? Does it depend on the M processors or does the clip needs to be recorded with an IPhone? Maybe I missed the information in you video! In general perfect tutorial with many important Tipps thanks for that.
how did you find the best part of the audio which you have put in for the footage in final cut pro after you downloaded the music track ? Also one more thing if you can tell me how to add the footage on the beats in fcp that would be really great. Amazing video helps me so much for the reel editing purpose.
Awesome! Thanks. Is there a way/approach to undo my years of importing video files instead of leaving them in place... and keep things linked properly?
Hi Tyler, Love your videos - have just found you and subscribed. I have a question regarding RotoAI. I know that it is now only with the subscription and as I have a tremendous amount of MFX plugins and templates - including some that are in the subscription I do not want this subscription. However I love the idea of putting the title behind the subject - is there a way of doing this without the plugin? Hope I am making sense! Anyways great content, learned a tremendous amount although I don't use RUclips anymore!
I’ll let Tyler answer this one and laugh as he tries to do it justice simply, almost no one uses HDR in production environments, it magnifies the complexity a lot. Plus on social media it’s all rec709 anyway is the easy answer.
Awesome video again. You mentioned the library files get larger when you choose 'copy to library' and said it can help by 'leaving them in place'. But if you're leaving them in place, they're still going to be stored on your HD (just somewhere else). Why is it better? It just means you have to do more manual organisation with your way, right? 🤔 Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻
@@eernnnx I just import it from the SD card to the library. Only one copy - original files intact in the library. Delete generated render files etc when done. I still don't see the benefit of not just keeping one neat library per video project. (when we're talking about projects of YT size rather than a feature doc for example...) Am I crazy?
It blows up the project file to extreme proportions which can slow down the computer if you don't have enough storage. Editing off the SSD frees up your storage and could potentially increase speed.
What if you need Horizontal for RUclips and Vertical for Instagram/TikTok? Have you found editing Horizontal and then using FCP's smart conform to vertical useful?
si im editing on Final Cut Pro to get used to it. I made a project on fcp with some basic audio and titles but when I want to post it here pictures are really small. idk how to enlarge them to fit for tiktok
Almost all of this I already knew and did as a Final Cut junkie HOWEVER... "cmd R" is a great takeaway for me. I usually use "shift B" when re-timing clips and is great for speed ramps, but I always have to have the cursor at the beginning or end of the clip for it to re-time the entire clip... So this just removes 1 or two unnecessary, clicks or keystrokes, which add up in the big picture. thanks!

The University of RUclips is again UNDEFEATED!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done bro!!!
I’ve been using FCP for just over a year. Hands down, this has been the best tutorial for an understanding of the shortcuts I’ve seen. Thanks
Good lord. The longer I watched this, the more I fell in love with how simple you make it. Thumbs up and subscribed!
Maaaan you get a like and a sub!.. About 3-5 sec explaining and then str8 to the point! Love it! And didn’t make it complicated! Appreciate you!
The way you use your sponsored segment is so underrated... this is the way to watch sponsored segments, I actually watch it and I don't scrub forward.
Making all the videos into a 1 minute is a game changer. My mouth literally dropped
Thank you so much, Tyler. You are simply the best. Your videos have helped me so much over the years. Keep up the great work!
hey man I know these things are not easy to make and take a ton of time, so thanks for making it! switching from Premiere to FCP has me more excited about editing than I've been in a long time
Some of the most satisfying tutorials on the web 👌🏼
I’ve been using Final Cut for a long time and I still learned a ton from this video, THANK YOU!
Been using your compound clip trick since the first time you mentioned it in a video, and wow, what a game changer!
Thank you so much for sharing this, I've started doing freelance editing for Instagram reels and needed some guidance on the best export settings. I learnt so much more from this video too!

I always wanted to do radio! Best of luck getting into video
What a video man! Quick and so helpful! Just what I needed to edit reels! I was clueless until I found you! Now I’m still clueless but less so lol😂
That video was great Tyler! Thank you for putting it together. I've learned a lot!
This video came at the perfect time. The only thing really missing from Final Cut that I'd love it automatic captions. With Apple's focus on integrating AI with everything, it should've been there. Thanks Tyler!
Agreed! I'm really lookig forward to the announcements this year! 🤞🏾that it'll be added this year!

Great video Tyler, thank you!
Great informative video. Thanks for sharing.

Great tutorial! Would you be able to do a tutorial for Final Cut on the iPad?
ai-videoupscale AI fixes this. Edit Reels & TikToks Guide
excelente video y sobre todo buenos consejos :)

The goat!!
Always 100% great thanks Tyler. Also a number of comments as to SDR v. HDR here. Also wondering about this; and did you do a video about this previously?
I recommend every turn off HDR on their iPhone. It looks great with professional grading but most users will struggle to make it look great
Awesome man 🙏🏻
TUTORIAL GOOD FLOW.THANKS
Very useful 👌🔥
This is so awesome! Thanks!
Are you using iPhone Final Cut app to record video footage on iPhone?
Great vid!! Thank you!
Tyler makes my life easier with every single video. How does he do it?

Amazing! Can you do the same in Davinci resolve?
so good, thanks.
1:00 How do you edit slow motion before you transfer ? What exactly do you mean by this ? Thanks
Great video - thx
Great Video. Thank you!
What if i have a mix of vertical and landscape videos. Is there a better way use landscape videos in vertical format without using any external plugins?
Do you have a video on Izotope RX/Audio editing?
I was also under the impression that Izotope (plugins specifically) no longer officially supports FCP. Having to export, process and import seems to be a pain point.
Is there a reason you prefer AirDrop to importing into Photos or importing hardwired from iPhone into FCP?
Does AirDrop send the files over in their original codec (H264, HEVC, ProRes)?
Airdrop doesn’t alter the files at all.

what do you use for your screen, recording videos, do you just screen record from the Mac? Or do you use a third-party software?

it duplicates your files though that's the problem. so you end up having it in two different homes.

“Redeo” Highlights 😊
hi. what do you mean "edit the slow motion video on the phone before sending to the macbook"
Why not let FCPX manage media in the library?
It blows up the project file to extreme proportions which can slow down the computer if you don't have enough storage. Editing off the SSD frees up your storage and could potentially increase speed.
15:44 why this is important to EQ be before the limiter?
GREAT!

How do you set up your air drop like that in iphone to Mac desktop computer?
si im editing on Final Cut Pro to get used to it. I made a project on fcp with some basic audio and titles but when I want to post it here pictures are really small. idk how to enlarge them to fit for tiktok
But i can import all to my libary and delte the videos from my pc ? Or i need to keep them there too?
I’m more interested in knowing how do you upload them to Instagram keeping the same quality as the original export, they always look like crap
Do you use compressor
@ no
I have some issues in editing titles, texts and fonts giving them animations and other formats in Final Cut Pro

Very good video however nah i aint recording in sdr, hdr is the way to go unless you can convince us in detail why in another video than maybe
