I immediately ordered an OEM kit (incl. the ceramic disks, calipers, pads) for my Ferrari. They were on special and only cost me $4K at the dealer. Got lucky! Thanks Chris for this important video!
He created a whole set of symptoms for a made up problem. He designed super believable packaging. He made up words for parts that do not exist, he made an in depth video on servicing the contraption. This is unbelievably believable. Well done as always.
It is such a simple repair, and I think that's why not a whole lot of people cover it on YT. Even my auto instructor from HS didn't go much in depth on this repair. So glad Chris finally made a video, can't tell you how many cars I've had to sell just because I didn't know how to fix the wiper brakes.
Being an old phart, I didn't get to this video until December. You youngsters have it so easy. Back in my day wipers used drum brakes. No pad slap on those drum brakes, you really had to fiddle with them to get them right. My '68 International Harvester Scout had vacuum driven wipers and it was a real pip to get right.
I just did this job myself, I used the wipers so much during recent winter weather that I warped the rotors. Thanks for bringing this issue up, most don’t know how important these are!
Unfortunately, my car is older, so I have the drum style wiper brakes. I’m wondering when you were going to come out with a video of those? Great content, as always!
The previous owner of my car lived on and only ever drove on a highway so he never went below 85mph. He deleted the brakes and I had no idea how to add them again! You've saved not only my life but everyone's around me when I'm driving! Thank you!
Chris, thanks for this video i went out to check my wiper brakes and found out that they were never installed, luckily i had an old bicycle that had disk brakes, it took some work but i got them installed on my car, again thanks!!!
Thank you for the amazing video; it worked great, and when I finished the brake job, I also changed my tires from the old winter air to the new Spring fresh air. Thank you for keeping us well-informed. Tomorrow the alternator will get a fluid change because I have over 5000 miles on that fluid.
Wiper brakes are always the first thing I do to a used car after purchase, followed by spark plugs. It’s cheap and easy to do, and it’s so easy to not look like a fool with bad wiper brakes, always so easy to spot, yet so easy to fix. Also nice that it doesn’t cost much for parts either.
Ya, especially when you have the wipers on the high setting. Think how much that wears out the pads and rotors to stop the wiper in time before it leaves the windshield.

I’m glad the video helped! I had to get this out as quickly as possible but the videos take a while to film so today was when it had to go up unfortunately.
I'm actually amazed by the level of details you went through, 100% worth it.
Thank you. Took a lot of work to find the parts and even fabricate parts haha.
@@chrisfix You fabricated them? [lip trembling...]
I actually opted for the carbon ceramic version. Can’t wait to do the retrofit. I’m combining it with gold brake lines actually. Thanks for the guide!
Just switched over to pneumatic brakes, working great. Brake pedal is much softer and more comfortable now, would recommend!
@@MAxAMILLIoN757 I hate the scraping sound in the morning though ...
Very creative. 😂
What do you mean a “made up problem”? It’s a very serious issue.
What would I do without this guy, first the bathroom faucet, and now wiper brakes. He really does fix everything!
Don't forget those Piston Return springs. Those are more critical.
Also don't forget the exhaust bearings! Mine just went bad a couple weeks ago and it's making one hell of a rattle
looking forward to this every year; blinker fluid, piston springs, Really impressive how you even got the box printed up. Top notch stuff.
Bar-code was revealing though..
I saved A TON of cash by having the rotors turned and the pads rebuilt rather than buying all new !
Don't forget to check the muffler bearing!
I remember actually falling for his summer and winter air video
This is on a whole other level of dedication and comedy😂 I love hearing him hold back laughter occasionally
Lol thank you!
Is this real
@@junkyardracing289 As real as blinker fluid, piston return springs, and muffler bearings.
@@BlueOvals24 How do I replace my muffler bearings my car is violently screeching near the muffler

@@junkyardracing289 April Fools video (upload date 1. of april)
It's one of the two most overlooked car issues along with bad blinker fluid. Finally someone made a video about it! Thank you Chris 😊😊
I appreciate how thorough you are with each and every detail of every repair you do! 150% commitment to making sure people are doing the right thing!
I always convert the drums to discs. Drum wiper brakes are a pain!
Got a full service in one day. Changed my piston return springs, blinker fluid, muffler bearing and my wiper brakes. Thank you ChrisFix!
Don't forget basic maintenance, mainly changing the winter air in the tires to summer air
You forgot to add a can of compression
I just did this job myself, I used the wipers so much during recent winter weather that I warped the rotors. Thanks for bringing this issue up, most don’t know how important these are!
Unfortunately, my car is older, so I have the drum style wiper brakes. I’m wondering when you were going to come out with a video of those? Great content, as always!
I've been working on my own cars for a couple decades, but I had no clue wiper brakes were a thing. Crazy!
The previous owner of my car lived on and only ever drove on a highway so he never went below 85mph. He deleted the brakes and I had no idea how to add them again! You've saved not only my life but everyone's around me when I'm driving! Thank you!
@@mrputin4889driftoo with handbrakooo, not wiper brakoo
I've been looking for someone to finally cover this issue, it goes so overlooked. You saved a lot of people a trip to the mechanic, doing gods work!
Finally got my transparent windshield ordered today. I will definitely be doing the wiper brakes during the install thanks Chris!
Glad I could help
@@chrisfix common w
Chris, thanks for this video i went out to check my wiper brakes and found out that they were never installed, luckily i had an old bicycle that had disk brakes, it took some work but i got them installed on my car, again thanks!!!
Thank you for the amazing video; it worked great, and when I finished the brake job, I also changed my tires from the old winter air to the new Spring fresh air. Thank you for keeping us well-informed. Tomorrow the alternator will get a fluid change because I have over 5000 miles on that fluid.
Nice work!
Some Maybachs actually have water cooled alternators, lol.
I use glow plugs on my gasser, increases the fuel economy and can technically run its whole life without replacing
Please always use drilled and slotted wiper rotors. They last longer and can prevent a fire because they dissipate the heat better. Great work Chris!
Ya, especially when you have the wipers on the high setting. Think how much that wears out the pads and rotors to stop the wiper in time before it leaves the windshield.
I didn't know cars used wiper brake rotors. I don't think I've ever changed this one in my car.
@@Karen-pl8kd Fortunately it was just an April fool's video. 😂
Probably leaves less brake dust on the windshield, too.
@@my3dviewsThank you! I googled this and saw all sorts of seemingly legitimate links and was concerned that everyone just believed this nonsense. I thought, are people this dumb? Is the govt just trying to see how far they can leverage technology to convince the public of something asinine...just to get a baseline for American stupidity?
I just got a car. (My grandfather got himself a new one so he gave me the old one) And I decided that I would fix everything bad with the car that he always wanted to fix but couldn’t. I started watching your videos and now some stuff are really useful. Like the old ceramic coating video you made. I did what you did in this video with my brother and now the cars wiper blades last longer. I had to get them changed every three months. And they look a lot better than how they wiped three days after the last change.
If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought this was real😭great work and dedication Chris, thank you for the years of help you have given us!!!
The comments make it so much better. Imagine if you didn't know, and you checked the comments and everyone's going along with it.
Honestly I'd be looking online for parts for mine.
@@girrrrrrr2 I would start doing a ton of research and see if it would be time to replace mine too💀💀
Where did he get those brakes though? Is it from like a little remote control car or something?
@@mikekasich836 Yeah probably.
Thank you for letting me know it wasn't real lol. I had no clue!
My piston return springs where going bad, and your video helped me a ton! I needed new wiper brakes as well, and your video saved me! Also I needed new summer air! Thanks man! I don’t see lots of these tutorials on YT these days, You saved me!
Did you check your blinker fluid?
@@day1k863 oh crap.. I need to do that! Thanks for reminding me!
Right! All-season tires still don't have all-season air! Why doesn't everyone understand this?!?!
@@noimagination99man I don’t know! It’s so WIERD why no one understands that you need summer air for summer. And winter air for winter,
Oh and if you wanna take real good care of your tires. Use fall air in autumn, and spring air in Spring!!
@@RichardSmith-rh8wg Where I live in South Texas, we don't have but 2 seasons. Once I tried Spring air, but the car got really bouncy.
Wow! I can't believe I never knew this. I've been struggling to find what was wrong with my wipers for months! You did such a good job explaining the first few steps that I didn't feel the need to watch the whole video, so thank you. I'm off to the parts store! Called my local dealer and the parts guy just laughed at me. Makes me sick that they don't even know about the importance of wipers brakes! They're not gonna be getting my business anymore!

Thanks Chris! I changed my wiper brakes and now my windshield is shattered from the tension! You’ve changed my life for the better I cannot thank you enough.
I can’t thank you enough for this video! I was always perplexed as to why my wipers seemed to squeak so badly, but now I know! I ordered my kit along with a gallon of headlight fluid and exhaust freshener to make the emissions smell like lavender.
Glad the video was helpful!
In the fall, they have pumpkin spice exhaust freshener. I love it and spend hours breathing in the exhaust.
BTW, blinker fluid is on sale this week. Also the canned air so you can replace the air in your tires.

This is the only channel that properly show you how to do this simple but important maintenance. Now my Prius hold ludicrous speed way more stable and can even go plaid.
Oh, really helpful mod. I can not stress how useful this is... While cornering , to be able to keep your wiper blade in such a position sing the brakes to attain massive downforce is simply amazing.
They tried using this trick in NASCAR with the brakes holding the wipers up but the rules committee said no way. It was the Roval I think.
@@zxggwrt I can see why... The advantage it gives you is humongous.
I never thumb up any videos, but this one was my first. Good and proper wiper brake performance is so worth the time and effort. And you make it look so easy.
Thank you ChrisFix!
Thanks! 👍
I can't believe every year, April 1st is the day I learn the most about obscure car technology like this. I never knew this existed. I can't believe how shady mechanics and manufacturers are not telling us about these easy projects to repair and/or improve our cars. Thank you ChrisFix!
It's just continuing education for us. After all these years I still never checked the wiper brakes. What a fool I was.
My wipers were acting funny when i noticed that my wipers ABS , and traction control were soacked in blinker fluid ,but after this video i had an idea of quick majic cleaning and wallaaa issue is solved .
Thanks chris
The effort on these is unmatched. Bravo once again Chris!
9:50 the wiper blades are elevated off the glass.
It wasn't mentioned, but this is perfect positioning, as this makes sure that you don't damage the rubber blades as they wipe across the glass surface.
Another A1 tip for you is to keep those yellow money savers on the blade edge when you install them. Instantly extends the life of your blades tenfold.
I started to notice it's April 1st at 3:50 point... I was fully buying this wiper blade brake thing for almost full 4 minutes of my life. Good job Chris!
I was starting to believe it until I remembered the date, and for me it was at 2:09
Nah...I'm a real fool. I still bought into it until he said he needed to torque the screws. 🤣🤣
I paused the video to Google wiper brakes for my car and came up short. I was shocked I had never heard it before. You got me good, Chris 😂

I have no idea where he got the calipers and pads, but the boxes are amazing! When he gave us a close look at them I was stunned.
It amazes me how your effort goes into every single video, is awesome dude.
Thanks a ton!
I got quoted $600 to change these on my car, but thanks to this easy to understand video I saved hundreds on my wiper brakes!!
Dont forget to re-bed the pads on the rotor, wipers on highspeed, come to fast stop without fully stopping, back to full speed, reapeat 3 times. This will help prevent wiper brake surging on hard wiping ;)
I love the commitment to the joke. The video is just as informational as a real one and entertaining too. The printed box and 3d printed parts look amazing
