- “The Millennium” Lasted Forty Years - Revelation 20
Inordinate emphasis has been put on this highly symbolic thousand-years text. A common-sense cross-referenced approach is needed.
We are seeking to strip away the false assumptions and unbiblical “traditions of men” that hinder understanding the nature of “the Day of the Lord” or “the second coming,” as it is commonly called. The meaning of this event is obscured by futuristic assumptions and must be comprehended using a sound, contextual hermeneutic allowing scripture to interpret scripture. We are espousing “fulfilled eschatology”.

“The Millennium” Lasted Forty Years - Revelation 20:

I'd rather the thousand years be understood as a thousand times, that is, bound, tied, fastened, winded a thousand times.
I came up with 36 years, from Pentecost to March of AD66 when Satan would have been released (the bright light at the temple is my theory). The timing was perfect, that is when Gog and Magog took off, this consummating the old covenant age.
And your prove is.
@@beholdmessiah6526 Ezekiel 37 is the framework for Revelation 20. John picked up the vision, where Ezekiel left off.
Jesus on a horse was not literal, ummm, no, Josephus and others saw warriors on chariots and horses, some saw armies in heaven in flames. We can't pick and choose or cherry pick, things here.
I am not sure about Josephus seeing Jesus. He didn't say it was. The war was on the ground Rome v Old Covenant Israel.
Why or how can you believe the 1000 year reign is symbolic? How does 40 years equate to 1000 years? I could understand if you said it was actually 925 years instead of 1000 but 40? 🤷♂️. That seems to make scripture look unreliable if you ask me.
How about the verse that says 1000 years is as 1 day and 1 day as a 1000 years?? 40 years is all over the Bible! I need to research this more myself..
Well, because it is found in a book that has symbology and in context of another symbolic reference (the new heaven and new earth). A lot of non-FP commentators say it is symbolic like GK Beale for example!
Respectfully in disagreement with this theory.
Its scriptural based...take it up with God
@@SELAHPAUSE Have you studied this on your own? It does not appear to work with Scripture.
"Take it up with God" (?)
That's pretty bold, brother.
@@JasonSumner The term “a thousand” was never interpreted as literal.
@@soteriology400 Agreed. The "thousand" is not literal.
My disagreement with the video is that I am of the opinion that Scripture seems to indicate that the "thousand years" started in 70AD. (It did not end in 70AD).
@@JasonSumner Ok, how did you come to that conclusion? Thanks.
A millennium is a thousand years not forty
2000 years is neither soon or "this generation"
Why would scripture not follow the same time statements with generation instead of using 1000 years?
I mean that is one view, but it is not a necessary interpretation. There are many viable views. Some Rabbi's even said it was 40 years hmmmm...
It is taught in a baraita: Rabbi Eliezer says: The messianic era will be forty years long, as it is stated: “Forty years will I strive with the generation” (Psalms 95:10).
I'd rather the thousand years be understood as a thousand times, that is, bound, tied, fastened, winded a thousand times.
