    I realize that Ghost is physical in Gen 2, but keep commenting about it. ;)
    Shadow Ball as a move specifically just sticks in my mind as special... Luckily Venomoth gets access to it so it will be very useful when I do that run in generation 1.

      It reducing Special Defense for some bizarre reason is probably why (this is really a thing in Gens 2 and 3, bizarrely), and it being used by the very high Special Attack Gastly line.

    Unsurprised Girafarig did well; while not high tier, it essentially has no issues. Sort of sad this one gets forgotten, it has a fun design and is perfectly serviceable. I do feel Girafarig would win a Stantler v Girafarig race pretty handily, though. Excellent video as always.

      @Odith Yir the classic era: gen 1 and 2 are the best and most pure design's... Even the ugly ones still follow the ethos of "pocket monsters". Gen 3 was the last generation I liked as a kid, but they were a little watered down and some of that monsterness was gone . I knew something was Different as a kid. The franchise felt different. As an adult I learned Satoshi left after crystal, which explained everything......

      @MiguelGarcia-vj7oo 3 года назад +1

      @Jacob PerryI'm gonna keep going...lmao.... I really don't care if I'm wrong or right..... But that FACT is that the franchise changed after gen 2. When Satoshi Tagiri left, and Nintendo, Masada took over, the franchise immediately felt different. Even the tcg got weird after skyridge. Just like how star wars feels different without George. Sequals suck, Mandalorian is good, but all this new content feels empty..... I can tell it's not Georges voice anymore....... Wether you like it or not, or if it's the best or worst, the TRUE pokemon story is what Satoshi created......

      I can see why Girafarig is forgettable nowadays, but it had a unique typing in Gen 2 which made me remember it for that reason alone. It was the only Normal/Psychic type at the time, and only has 2 weaknesses (Bug and Dark). Bug was still a really bad type in Gen 2 with only a few good members. That's probably why GameFreak didn't make it super strong. But power creep over the generations hurt it a LOT. It needs an evolution or a Mega if it is ever going to have a chance in competitive play.

Girafarig's one of my favorite Gen 2 Pokémon too, it makes me sad that they made it so outclassed compared to newer Normal types, a problem it shares with its' shared Johto resident bee farting elk.

    I think the only suggestion I have would've been to replace shadow ball with crunch- they have the same base power, super effective coverage, and secondary effect (which is actually useful for crunch since it is a special move) and girafarig has a higher base special attack. The only thing is that shadow ball is neutral against fighting (which doesn't matter since you have stab psychic coverage) and crunch can also hit normal types. Return + EQ is always going to be better than a physical ghost move. Good job though always love your videos!
    Edit: I guess it really didn't matter you deleted it for Karen

    I'm new to this channel and I really like it, interesting gameplay, good commentary, good audio setup (it's clear, it doesn't have any audio errors, it's loud enough; that stuff is important), good pacing of the video (maaaaaybe a bit too fast, I personally wouldn't mind up to 30 minutes of this, but that's just a personal preference).

    Girafarig is great. I had one on my Emerald nuzlocke team. I named it Racecar because it's a palindrome like Girafarig and because I needed to use agility and baton pass the speed boost onto Crawdaunt so it could set up a swords dance and one shot all of Glacia's team with brick break.
    That was the only battle that went exactly as planned in that league run. And I couldn't have done it without Girafarig. thanks buddy.

    Unless you get stone walled in the Elite 4 for some reason and have to level up to 100 most pokemon with good starting moves tend to do well. You save so much time having moves like Confusion for the first half the game, or normal types that get the huge bonus from Body Slam/Headbutt.

    Before I watch the video I have to say that Girafarig is in a nice spot for a solo challenge. I have used it in regular playthroughs and it never disappoints, except if you need more than a single Psychic TM.
    Balance in stats is always a solid option for versatility. I bet it can solo Red at level 80 or below easily. Return and Psychic alone are strong options.

    Fun fact: Girafarig is what is called a pallendrome, which is any word that is spelled the same when read right to left or left to right. This is why it has two heads: it is supposed to be two halves mirrored. An earlier concept of it made this obvious in that it was literally two giraffe front halves together as one, but I guess they changed it because it looked so bizarre.
