Engineering background here although I own a Toyota Camry I’m gonna say neither I think you get a lot more out of a Kia Q5 or a Hyundai Sonata . Toyota and Honda are in competition with each other to see who could come up with the most bland and boring design it’s usually a tie😂

Seeing them side by side, I prefer the clean lines of the Accord vs. the busy lines of the Camry. Admittedly, the Accord might be a bit too conservative and the Camry is a bit too busy, but if I had to sign on the line for one of them, it would be the Accord.

What will Toyota do to distinguish the Prius from the Camry aside from the hatchback now? Making the 5th gen Prius so much smaller than 4th gen is a huge drawback. With the 2023/2024 Prius recall, anyone interested in the new Prius basically has to wait for 2025 model anyway. 😢

It would be better if you go with the honda or toyota in that way you can save a lot of money in the long run with reliability compared to hyundai. You may have save 5k upfront but the reliability if hyundai is questionable, visits to repair shops might be frequent in along the road and you will end up spending a lot of money.

40k on a midsize mainstream sedan? This is why people are getting SUV's, and no wonder the sedan market is dying

Most of these will sell in the $30k range. You need to check all the options boxes on the highest trim levels to get to $40k. If you think it’s a bad deal check out the pricing on Rav4s and CRVs, they’re not cheaper.

I've had a few Accords, never a Camry, but have had other Toyota's. My .02, the Accord's have all been surprisingly fun to drive and comfortable for the most part. It's nice Honda finally decided to offer a decent sound system, although I'm not a huge fan of Bose car audio, but it's got to be a step up from what the Accord offered in the past for the "premium audio" option. But cosmetically, they don't hold up as well - exterior body panels *will* rust anywhere there is a rock chip or scratch, the rubber bits will all break down under the sun and become gooey and cracked, sheet metal is very thin and the paint is delicate. Toyota's seem to hold up better in this regard, with better quality steel, exterior rubber and paint, and less proclivity for rust. But when you move to the inside, Honda interiors, excluding their poor quality leathers that shrink and harden with any exposure to water, do seem more cohesive and tend to look nicer, longer. I don't know what it is with Honda choosing for far too long to use the worst quality leather possible, but I wouldn't count on the leather staying nice for the long term unless you manage to NEVER get any moisture on it. Toyota has always used better leather (except the steering wheel, Honda does use full grain on that where Toyota uses what seems like bonded leather or mid-grain with a vinyl paint that looks like trash after a few years). So neither car checks all the boxes, really, but they both look like a pretty solid value for the price point, which honestly seems insane to say when you're talking about $40k which used to buy a really nice near-luxury car. But that's where we are.

Biggest differences here: 1. The Honda uses direct injection (with no port injection to keep the intake valves clean) in all Accord models, and turbos in some models, while the Camry uses neither in any model, so the Camry's motor will be more reliable and cheaper to maintain. 2. AWD availability for all models of the Camry, and none for the Accord. 3. While the fully loaded XSE Camry is slightly more expensive than the Touring Accord, the Camry is offered with a hybrid as standard in all trims while the Honda is not, and the Honda's beginning buy-in price to get the hybrid is thousands more than the Camry's. 4. Camry is always quieter. 5. Camry is always more powerful. 6. Camry always returns superior fuel mileage, especially real-world fuel mileage, not just window sticker EPA estimates.
