@@Hallowsaw in canada an AWD XLE camry starts at $48,500 and a crown base model starts at $58,000, At that point just upgrade to a Lexus. The Crown seems pointless
@Hallowsaw Or just get an LE or SE awd for much less. If you want luxury, then it makes sense to grab a Venza or Crown Signia but if you just need usable and awd, you can't really beat the value of the lower Toyota trims. The heated seat and steering wheel package is also pretty cheap.
The interior of the Honda gets a "D" for dour, dark and drab. For me its the interior of the Camry and the nicer audio system that wins me over. Also using a Linux info system is less likely to share driving information than a google based system. I am sure google would not mind selling your driver info to your insurance company as well.
If you keep your cars there’s no comparison. The Camry is made to last and run much longer without giving the owners any trouble whatsoever while the Accords aren’t what they were in the 1990s and before. They’ve become delicate little flowers and it shows up around four years old and then you have to start pumping money into them like European cars. I had a very rude awakening from Honda and switched. I don’t have the time to bring cars in. I just don’t deal with it.
So I’m about 15 min in and wanted to weigh in on my personal experience with the accord as I’ve driven it fairly extensively on loan from my local Honda dealership while my regular ride got worked on. Yall are spot on with the pros and cons. That interior, while way more cohesive looking and better laid out than the Camry imo, is capital D drab. It reminds me of Volkswagen when they were at their peak; it’s very Germanic, very understated, to a fault. And I was driving an EX trim, which has even less material variability than the higher end hybrid models. No rear vents is such a deal breaker for me. These are all things I think Honda will (and should) address in the refresh next year or so. As far as the pros go: also spot on. The infotainment is solid even on the poverty spec and this is even better. And since they both drive relatively the same, the better seating position and ergonomic layout of the accord swings a win for me over the Camry. The seating position is so good and everything just falls to hand. The cupholder placement in particular is just fucking perfect. Sounds ridiculous but in a car like this it matters. Both my kiddos loved the backseat space too and that trunk is truly gigantic. While you can’t go wrong with either, I think even with my gripes, it’s the driver interface, simplicity of controls and better seating position of the accord that wins me over for the Honda. I do dig the Camry, but those little intangibles are a big deal. Now for the love of god get some color and rear vents in that interior, Honda.
In Asia, Honda has been known for being obsessed with copying German brands, especially VW and Audi. Their consoles in the recent models of the Civic, Accord, and CR-V are nearly identical to those in the Audi A4. The CR-V exterior looks almost the same as VW Taos. Now Honda also wants to move forward as an EV only, like Audi. In Asia, Honda has never been a leader in auto manufacturing. They like to follow others.
I got a accord exl a few weeks ago. Mine has the grey and black interior. Its only available on 3 colors. Red, white, and the metallic grey. The grey and black interior is so much nicer.
Great review as always guys. Btw, in terms of advertised vs actual mileage, my 23 Accord Hybrid blows past 50mpg every tank year round surpassing the advertised mileage. Living in the NY/NJ area i get a pretty good mix of driving conditions.
I'm glad the newer gen is getting better mileage. My 2019 hybrid would go up to about 42/45 mpg at most. But, on the lower end it would never get below 36, even when towing a motorcycle trailer going 75 mph.
Great, what people don’t realize is even though according to gets slightly lesser MPG than Camry the amount of Dollars they earn over a period is like less than 500$ , compare that to the ridiculous amount of overpay these Toyota dealers asking for
The Accord has always had a edginess to it and IMO it doesn't disappoint in the hybrid version. I really like Honda's new hybrid setup. As Jack pointed out cant go wrong with either choice but I would lean towards the Accord
@@paulhenry913 LOL Toyota constantly ranks more reliable than Honda. That Accords “transmission” has clutches that will go bad long before the Toyota’s planetary gearset cvt.

Most of us don't need AWD, and one thing that drives me nuts about my Toyota is the same complaint you guys had; you feel like you're sitting on top of the car when you're driving it.
You can lower the driver seat in the XSE from my test drive it was just fine I like sitting low and reclined in a relaxed drivers position and the Camry did just fine for me.
48.3 MPG, 300+ miles into 2nd tank of a 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring version - typical suburban driving - admittingly serene driver most of the time. I almost bought the 2024 Camry V6 since they are going away forever...it was a sweet motor. Great review.
I think the Camry exterior looks better this gen, Accord looks like a love child of a ford taurus and vw jetta. Interior of accord is better though imo.
Every time I rent a car (which is often) I ask for a full size sedan. They never ever have one available and give me an SUV and act like they are doing me a favor. First world problems yes, but after 20 times it gets annoying.

I went with the Accord as I preferred the drive. The Camry felt like I was riding on top of it where the Accord felt like I was riding in it. Both nice cars.

Interior noise dampening really does mean a lot to me (I put a lot of miles on broken highways and gridlocked cities). I’d probably make my decision purely based on that. When I’m in my motorcycle I want the wind around me. When I’m in a car I want an isolation chamber.
Oddly enough, if you're going to the high end trims, you're getting dangerously close to the Lexus ES and IS, Audi A4, Toyota Crown, and Acura TLX. If isolation is your number one priority, you'd probably be better off going a hair more expensive (or CPO) on one of those entry luxury vehicles, since they're considerably more insulated.
@@aprturwell said. I would not spend $40k for the premium versions with skinny tires for a commuter. I’d get a 2-3 year old ES300h. True isolation chamber with more sidewall and better interior.
@@Mark-eu6mc absolutely - even saving a bit longer isn't out of the question since there are usually great deals on the ES. Or, for that matter, a CPO Avalon if the Crown is too outlandish (or you want the V6).
@@aprtur In order to get similar features in an ES (better sound, hud, etc) including hybrid engine it basically shoots its price up to more around $52,000. That extra $10,000 may be worth it depending on what you're willing to spend, but I'm still torn.
I'm sure that the felt wheel and under body panels do something for noise, but as someone that lives where there is a bunch of snow and slush for about half the year, I hate them. It absorbs water, gets heavy and sags, than freezes. It then gets torn up on ice chucks because it is hanging too low. I had to get new panels and then soak them in epoxy to harden them and prevent them from absorbing water. I'd take slightly more noise over that hassle any time.
I’ve had my 25 Camry for 1200 miles now, SE with multimedia upgrade, sunroof, convenience package. It’s been good to me so far. Some door trim rattling which I need to get fixed but aside from that it’s been very good to me
@@g60corrado91I have the same exact as them, Fwd. when I’m driving for fun and accelerating unnecessarily, I get around 43mpg. When I’m driving for mpg, I get as high as 55+ on highway heavy drives of course.
The Honda hybrid physically connects the gasoline engine to the wheels at Highway speeds for reasons of efficiency. Otherwise there's conversion loss, twice
The fake shifts also dont use the clutch, unlike what Mark says. It is emulated purely by engine rpm. Thats why sportmode stops fake shifting at high speed for most power. Highest available power is with clutch disengaged so inverter can combine max engine power + boost from battery. Electric motor power is the limiting factor.
Sometimes it blends the clutches into the simulated shifts, from standstill to 200kmh it starts electrical, continues with 1st clutch, disconnects it and goes into simulation, after that it continues with 2nd clutch and keeps it until maximum speed. You can notice the sprocket symbol in the center of the dash

Toyota doesn't do custom orders, so their "options" set up means you never know what you're gonna get when looking at one from a dealer. Good luck finding one that has exactly what you want. Accord doesn't have as many options outside of dealer add ons, but it means there's less BS finding the one you want. EX-L met most of what I wanted, and made it easier to find one I wanted. Good luck getting ANY Toyota hybrid at MSRP or less at this point too
You can definitely get Corolla and Crown hybrids at (and below) MSRP. Give this 6 months and the Camry will also be below MSRP. Sedans just aren't in that much demand.

Some of these comments about "boring" cars crack me up. Driving is what you make it. I used to drive a manual transmission Toyota Tercel 25 miles into NYC every day through traffic--top speed was 85 mph if you had the wind at your back. I had a blast driving that thing, wringing it out to redline with every shift, weaving in and out of the crazy traffic and around potholes, construction barriers, traffic cones, etc. A good friend owned a 911 around the same time. He never drove it above the speed limit. Guess who had more fun.

Thanks Fellas, absolutely terrific comparison video. One aspect of your reviews that is especially appreciated is that you get the vehicles up on the lift and discuss the components and manufacturing. You provide measured data which is lacking in most other reviews. Your accompanying graphics are always well done and helpful. Plus, you are both pleasant and fun. We've been shopping for a replacement for our 2002 Camry (which is still an excellent car 22 years later) because we'd like some of the modern safety and general tech. We have been waiting for a 50mpg hybrid that is not a Prius and so have watched numerous vids. We will not even consider a car unless y'all have a review for it. If we may - please consider a comparison video for hybrid suv under $50k. Again, thank you for the fine work.
You can get an accord with a gray interior and a red exterior that looks much more dynamically better. However I've been disappointed that both Camry and Accord got rid of the beige interior. That's why I decided to get a used 2020 Honda Accord which has beige on the inside, which makes it seem more luxurious. My last Lexus and my recently sold Hyundai sonata had the beige interior and it just makes a car feel so much livelier.
Thanks for the info about privacy and data collection. Recently saw Breaking Points vid about ins companies and car manufacturers sharing and selling data
Excellent video and with very good comparisons. The one caveat would be is that both of these vehicles are bought with MPG a definite priority to most drivers. To have a 47+ minute video and only say the Accord got "about 38mpg and the Camry a little better" isn't really giving your viewers some true real world comparison numbers. A definite missed opportunity.
I really enjoyed this. In the end I'd pick the Camry, but I'm happy that both sedans are still around, still selling well, and still being updated. So I'm not forced into an SUV.
I would love to see a Subaru Outback competitor. A Camry/rav4 based wagon with hybrid awd. Make it sleek and not a faux tough wagon, leave that for the rav4.
I have the CRV Hybrid. It also has awd. I bought this solely for the exact reasons you noted in this review, notably a far more refined drivetrain and interior isolation. It isn’t as good as my prior CX5 but it was way better than the rattley and unrefined RAV4. This still gets 39 mpg which is good enough for me. I’ll take refined and smooth any day over pure efficiency.
@@sk-un5jq We had a 2021 RAV4 and it was solid. Thick heavy doors so I don't know what you mean by rattly or tinbox. It drove like fridge and the engine sounded like a coffee grinder but otherwise it felt like a tank.
Drove both and the honda hybrid is a much better drive. The concept of their hybrid is just genius. The engine will only drive the wheels when it’s at its most efficient I.e. at high speeds. Around town it’s an EV.
I think people are being too harsh on the 11th Gen Accord just because the Accord wasn't quite as far ahead of the competitors as the 10th Gen Accord and it felt like there wasn't as much effort put into this generation specifically. But it's still a great car and still competes well with the Camry.
I've been watching you guys for a while. Your content is top shelf. I'm happy with my '25 LE Camry that I picked up last week, you helped win me over to the refreshed model. Also Vulfpeck rocks.
Agreed. I bought the Camry LE with option package. As an entry level trim, I think that it is the car to get. It has more than enough "features". I did not AB it with the Honda but to get the same ride in a hybrid vehicle , I would have to go with Honda Touring trim. That is much more than I would be willing to spend on a new car.
Thanks for this review. Have been considering the Camry and this is the first time I’ve heard any review mention a rattle in the Toyota during the transitions. Good to know.
Toyotatards.. lol. Go to your local dealers and test drive both and you'll be blown away at how much more quiet, insulated, and refined the Accord hybrid is. It feels like a Lexus ES for $15k less.
Excellent video as always. This is why printed car magazines or their boring websites don’t make sense anymore. Add the fact that you are reviewing cars that the majority (me included) can afford.
7:09 you would think that with all the cars released with infotainment systems throughout a decade, Toyota would know by now what users want to access by now.
NGL, the Red and Black XSE AWD top trim with red leather is my dream car at the moment. I like that the AWD improves the off the line performance, one of my only complaints about my current Ford Fusion Hybrid, while maintaining great gas mileage, a sporty facade and improved handling.
The Camry technically being quieter than the Accord but letting in more subjective road noise... Those in the know realize that's the opposite of how things used to be. So Honda has finally figured out how to quell road noise!
Problem with the Accord is that the Sport and Touring look the best from the outside and the Touring has the most features on the inside. Provided that your budget supports it, the Accord Touring is the best of the bunch. If you’re considering any of the other trims, just go for a Civic Touring. It’s the best value sedan on the market. Currently own a 24 Accord Touring and it’s been incredible.
I just got a 2024 Accord Sport L, but whatever, neither here nor there, can’t go wrong with either car. Let’s talk about the production value of this video!!! Amazing quality on this channel. Wow.
While I think that the Accord has a 20 year old digital display I do however like the interior, I like its understated class. Everyone is doing that bold contrast stitching, and I feel the camera is over the top with it..they tried to over glitch up a family Camry .
I was recently on a business trip and had my choice of rental sedans - and honestly the new Japanese are all so solid. The worst have to be the Malibu with the weird small turbo.
Yeah the camry vs a malibu... drove both and it feels like gm is hopelessly behind the Japanese auto makers. There is absolutely zero attention paid to anything that matters to the driver in the malibu. Zero. It's like a diss. GM is like "you want a half decent car? Hell NO!"
@lotsofhairbutnomoney3705 I'm not surprised they don't really care about that Sedan. It's just an afterthought. I believe it's dead after this year anyway they really don't care to busy guzzling Tahoe and suburban profits
Nice to see a review like this after all the hype has just been focused on the Camry since it came out. There are truly pros and cons to each, even though on paper the Camry with the awd and higher hp has made many quickly proclaim its the better car. However, I think it says something that Mark expressed that he did think the Accord was the better car towards the end.

Also using a Linux info system is less likely to share driving information than a google based system. I am sure google would not mind selling your driver info to your insurance company as well.
But it's not a honda.
Higher trims have the vents
U needed a Touring trim
In Asia, Honda has been known for being obsessed with copying German brands, especially VW and Audi. Their consoles in the recent models of the Civic, Accord, and CR-V are nearly identical to those in the Audi A4. The CR-V exterior looks almost the same as VW Taos. Now Honda also wants to move forward as an EV only, like Audi. In Asia, Honda has never been a leader in auto manufacturing. They like to follow others.

@@aprturI was thinking the same thing.

The Honda hybrid physically connects the gasoline engine to the wheels at Highway speeds for reasons of efficiency. Otherwise there's conversion loss, twice
Correct. I wonder if a V6 in the same setup livens things up and allows it to be put in their larger platforms.
The engine can also directly provide electricity to the wheels without going to the battery if needed as well.
Sometimes it blends the clutches into the simulated shifts, from standstill to 200kmh it starts electrical, continues with 1st clutch, disconnects it and goes into simulation, after that it continues with 2nd clutch and keeps it until maximum speed.

Civic has grown up. About the same size as the Camry. I think the new hybrid Civic is better than the Camry.
Problem with the Accord is that the Sport and Touring look the best from the outside and the Touring has the most features on the inside.

There are truly pros and cons to each, even though on paper the Camry with the awd and higher hp has made many quickly proclaim its the better car. However, I think it says something that Mark expressed that he did think the Accord was the better car towards the end.
Damn good comparison!
