If done properly, they will sell millions....to Police Departments mostly at first. Think about it. Most departments still miss the ol' Crown Vic. And for a while now the only Bowtie Car has been a Tahoe 9C1, that makes the Explorer look like a something that you built solely to beat everyone in Junkyard Wars (Remember that show?). Explorer no go, it no stop, it no handle, it has less room than the ol' Crown Vic despite being bigger, most cops seem to outright hate the Explorer at the very least dislike it. The Caprice 9C1s of the early 2010s were always are borrowed time do to them having Holden Parts Numbers (A GM Hood Classic here) making getting parts a absolute pain and causing Angry Confusion for Auto Zone Regional Managers everywhere as to what a Holden is. On top of that the ones at my Local PDs are currently in "Parts Car" mode for 75-80% of the ones that are left, making sure that last 20-25% keep running and that's only gonna last a 2 or 3 more years at best However MOPAR or NOCAR has offended the EPA's Holy Book of CAFE Standards and as such it's now NOCAR. The Charger that has been the main Sedan of Policing is out to pasture and quite frankly the way the Hurricane I6 in the "new" Charger is setup up suggests it will be a maintenance hog. One that first appeared in the Tahoe with a Jeep Grill they call the "Grand Wagoneer (You disgrace the good name of AMC!)" however there is one major thing that die hard Jeep fans will know as a massive red flag, just do to the wind based name and being a I6. The Tornado I6 that was in the Jeep M175 was an infamous Maintenance Hog, and it's looking like Hurricane is going to be just as bad if not worse and so far it seems a lot of departments are keeping the new Charger at arms length. Ford, Making a Mustang "Falcon" Interceptor Sedan (as I shall call it), if done right, would be a next level power move on Ford's part as it would completely suck up all the departments that used the Charger Pursuit as their main patrol car. ASP and GSP alone would buy more than they could even produce. Rumor mill aside, even from a basic business stand point now is the time for a 4-door Mustang purely because their is a open gap in the Market for such a "High Performance" American 4-Door Sedan and you'd be stupid to not take the money and run as far as you can with it.
Truth. The Europeans are making lots of money with high performance 4 doors, it seems crazy not to get in on it. It would work if they made them fun and sporty, like the M3s.
Ford: " we're getting rid of a sedans no one uses them" Also Ford: "Lets put the mustang badge on more stuff that isn't a mustang, and this one can be a sedan!"
I'm pretty sure the only reason this is being made is so the police have something to replace the outgoing charger. Granted, they could just use the Explorer, but it's not as cool, lol Edit: Funny enough, I found out my county just bought 9 mustangs for police use, something about building community relationships.
City/town cops are fine with exploders, but highway patrols always had v8 sedans. After the charger goes away, what do they use? They need fast 4 door American cars.
@@braaap6292 Especially for those high speed chases were the Explorer wouldn't cut it... With a 4-door muscle car, they can keep up with the suspect easily in lots of cases!
Ford is literally losing their mind. Just bring back the Falcon. Let the Mustang be the iconic 2 door and the Falcon be the performance sedan killer. Even Porsche knows better than to name their sedan the 911 Panamera, they gave it its own name.
@@TheAnnoyingBoss the bald eagle is just a overgrown Seagull and one of the smallest and wimpiest egal's in the world only hunts fish a Falcon tippical hunts other birds by diving into their necks at over 200mph killing them.
The last falcon (FGX series) Xr8 was coyote 5.0 with an Eaton 1.9L (?) supercharger on it. Unfortunately Ford engineers got held back a bit I think. It made less power than the mustang despite the blower because they gave it a low boost pulley and a sedate tune. Huge tuning potential as it basically had an intercooler core built into the design but wasn't plumbed (it was an 'air diffuser plate'). Plenty of shops put end tanks on em turning it into a water to air cooler, smaller pulley, injector and a tune, making 4-500kw to the tyres. I don't think the falcon platform was built to handle that kind of power as it essentially a common man's taxi normally. I had one for a few years and it ate through diff bushes stock. It had potential but I moved on to a 10sp Mustang and enjoy it more. If you need four doors it was killer though. I think a 4-door mustang based model would sell well, but it needs to be "inspired" not just a coupe with a set of doors added. Also I agree Falcon would be a sick name for it.
There needs to be RWD four doors, THAT ARE NOT ONLY FROM LUXURY BRANDS, keeping them more affordable, but please don't call it a Mustang. But even if they do it will be good.
Falcon would be a great name, but its also a good opportunity to bring back the Crown Victoria line up. They could use the ST trim as a police unit just like they do with the Explorer.
@angelgjr1999 the crown vic had a 5.0 before it had a 4.6. They currently make a very different 5.0. The 4.6 is great, I've had an old 5.0 and a 4.6, but what I haven't had is a coyote. That's what I want
As a Ford Employee assembly worker I Would definitely buy a 4 door mustang V8 manual RWD. Past due, would be an excellent addition as an option for people with families. Everyone knows how big the charger got. Why not convert Mopar families that feel abandoned by Dodge. Smart to fill the gap.
Mustang was never meant for families. Before it originally launched the team knew it wasn’t for families, brought in families to see if it could be a good second car.
@MaddNomad1015 it wasn't meant for "men" either in '64, it didn't even get a big-block till '68. Most Mustangs sold are 4/6 cylinder, get over the manhood obsession with the Mustang, at least it didn't turn fwd almost like it did in '89...
All for it bring it on, that's literally the only thing keeping me from buying a Mustang a 2 door doesn't fit my needs. But a 4 door Mustang with the 5.0 will be perfect, and im all for it

First time I see that article. Also didn't know previously about the Australian Falcon.. I have always go for calling it Falcon. Is historically correct.

I have a mustang with 2 kids 1 in a car seat and it’s perfectly fine as a daily full car seat fits perfect and more than enough space in the trunk for a spoiler and groceries
4 door, 5.0, manual is sick, rally inspired mustang coupe or sedan with the ecoboost, manual and all wheel drive (taking up the space subaru left with no sti) would be sick. I already "ranted" earlier today in the Stangmode comment section, so I will try to make this briefer.....a "car company" with no cars is a vehicle company. Ford, my favorite company, made a stupid move in my opinion, as a 70 year old as of next Tuesday life long car enthusiast. Mustang is becoming its own "brand", so let it! If you want it to have a different name, they have plenty sitting on the bench. Alan Mullally said, "One Ford".....soon as he left, they went right back to doing what didn't work before, we lose the Fiesta, Focus, the Fusion continued overseas as the Mondeo, and test driving Ford vehicles here in Metro Detroit at the end of 2021, the facility I was at had this beautiful white 4 door, that everyone thought was a BMW or Audi, and people were lining up to see it, and everybody said too bad Ford can't build cars like that, because we would all drop deposits for one of those right now! I LMAO, and told them Ford did build it, it's a Mondeo, or as you know it, the Fusion! 😅 You could hear a pin drop! I told the gathering crowd, if they would let me drive the car back and forth down Michigan Avenue in front of Ford Headquarters, they couldn't build them fast enough to handle all the orders. People who have been to Europe and seen the car, wanted to bring one back home to the states! Problem? Ford, and lazy Americans who won't drive manuals, and this ingrained thing in Ford management that says Americans don't want sedans. Obviously, nobody told Cadillac, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai......need I go on?! If you build a sedan, and make minor changes every 5 to 10 years, of course nobody will want one, if you build a Taurus in 2010, and by 2018 you almost cannot see a difference, but you paid a premium price, you won't pay for a new one! Why would you?! Call it a Taurus, LTD, Galaxie, Torino, Fusion, Crown Victoria(now THERE'S a winner....😊), but build the damn thing, with an Ecoboost 3.7 litre Cyclone(you've already had experience with a couple of those, David, so you know... ), and a V-8 Coyote as an option, bring the Fiesta & Focus back so I don't have to buy a Civic or Kona, or Elantra(all cars I like, BTW), and I will end this rant with a old saying the Ford community, and Ford management needs to embrace once again.... "Have you DRIVEN a Ford LATELY?!" 😮PEACE!!
This is what I’m thinking. Other countries have exactly the cars I want and fit my needs to a T but ford and other companies won’t bring them to the states. And I can’t just private import cause Mercedes Benz might lose a sale.
@@redlight3932 yeah but the 4 door mustang would also be competing with the charger. It’s questionable if ford would want to deal with that in todays market

The FG XR8 Falcon and onwards actually ran an engine called the Miami. It was derived from the Coyote, but a different platform, like that of the Voodoo and the Predator. It was Supercharged from factory by Prodrive with a 1.9 TVS. Only had a handful of issue's but the GT500 Predator was built from it. And dude ..... Celicka? No, it's Ce Li Ca, not Cel Icka. Come on.
Ford has to make a four-door mustang why you say?? It's because Porsche made a four-door Porsche.. and it will happen it's to help cover the young family market.
If they could make it like a hatchback, like the Kia Stinger for example, I think it could be cool. I don't think they should call a Mustang at that point, but calling it the Falcon would definitely be cool. I've been driving my Focus ST for 10 years now and would pick this up if it becomes a thing.

I hope they call it the Falcon or Crown Vic and throw the Coyote in it. An off-road “rally spec” Mustang (not the Mach E Rally) would be so sick! Also YES I want to see ALL the other video ideas that you mentioned! Great content as always, much love from a fellow Ford superfan in Texas!
I'd call it the Falcon to take in all that global name recognition as well as the nostalgia factor. Then make an AWD version thats powered by the turbo V6 and call it the Falcon Mach 4 like they are rumored to be thinking about.
Hear me out, a 6 door mustang with a sleak, almost rambler-marlin style fastback. One thing i've hated in cars have been the sun/moon roofs, they just make the vehicle so hot. I do like removable roof sections but dont make them glass please. Speaking of weird roof, a full sized van length vehicle with the aerodynamics of a mustang, like a limo, could be a good candidate for a higher end solar package. Make it a coyote powering the rear wheels, but then 1kw worth of solar cells and a 10-20kwh battery pack driving the front wheels. Nothing fancy, just like a pair of 20kw hub motors or whatever works best. As long as you can put AWD plug-in hybrid V8 i think that would attract more buyers than it pushes away, the cost is the real question though, solar once integrated into the body for mass production isnt all that expensive, its the batteries and tech around the drive train that gets expensive(mostly because of givernment incentives that tells auto and parts makers to jack up the price because of the customer's free money as other countries without these incentives see lower prices.)
Call it the Falcon. plz.

I feel like the off road Mustang needs to be called the Mustang Mad Max and make it something out of those movies.
They really did fuckup with the ‘Mustang Mach-E’ and not calling it the “Galax-E”.
Also, they already had a 4 door Mustang, the Ford Falcon they axed in 2016.
the mach e is the only reason ford can still make your so beloved ice mustang, so some respect.
should've called it the Ford Mach-E suv
Genius
this could actually work bc there was a Ford called the Galaxie before, it even came in a 4 door
I still have my 09 falcon xr6 turbo, manual with 500whp and 775nms, it's a lot of fun 👌
They should offer a barra6 option lol
I would absolutely buy a s650 sedan if it was available, 2 doors cool too but not as practical in the day to day.
As someone who owns 3 falcons and owned many I’d love to have the falcon back, pick up where the fgx left off with the coyote again and I’d assume the Barra couldn’t be brought back so some eco boost motor, 4 door rwd and reasonably priced, I would buy one
On top of that the ones at my Local PDs are currently in "Parts Car" mode for 75-80% of the ones that are left, making sure that last 20-25% keep running and that's only gonna last a 2 or 3 more years at best
However MOPAR or NOCAR has offended the EPA's Holy Book of CAFE Standards and as such it's now NOCAR.
Rumor mill aside, even from a basic business stand point now is the time for a 4-door Mustang purely because their is a open gap in the Market for such a "High Performance" American 4-Door Sedan and you'd be stupid to not take the money and run as far as you can with it.
perfectly said. the sales in PDs alone would make it worth while
My local sheriff department used Impalas for a while.
My friend said their PD loves the AWD Taurus.
Truth. The Europeans are making lots of money with high performance 4 doors, it seems crazy not to get in on it. It would work if they made them fun and sporty, like the M3s.
I dunno who you’re talking to but I don’t know a single cop who has the explorer that dislikes it.
Ford: " we're getting rid of a sedans no one uses them"
Also Ford: "Lets put the mustang badge on more stuff that isn't a mustang, and this one can be a sedan!"
I'm pretty sure the only reason this is being made is so the police have something to replace the outgoing charger.
Granted, they could just use the Explorer, but it's not as cool, lol
Edit: Funny enough, I found out my county just bought 9 mustangs for police use, something about building community relationships.
City/town cops are fine with exploders, but highway patrols always had v8 sedans. After the charger goes away, what do they use? They need fast 4 door American cars.

Ford is literally losing their mind. Just bring back the Falcon. Let the Mustang be the iconic 2 door and the Falcon be the performance sedan killer.

This Will Be Loved Here In Australia, 4 Door sedan that you can take the car to the track and take your family and friends in anywhere.
Also I agree Falcon would be a sick name for it.
first time i’ve seen one of your videos just pop up in my recommended in ages! the algorithm is being friendly today!
A 4 door mustang
That would be a falcon like we had in Australia for years !!
There needs to be RWD four doors, THAT ARE NOT ONLY FROM LUXURY BRANDS, keeping them more affordable, but please don't call it a Mustang. But even if they do it will be good.
Uh dodge charger?
Forgot about the Charger, I guess it was all the Hemi going away stuff.
Man this reminds me how we were so spoiled with car choices in 2018
Also agree with Falcon name. Was basically a V8 Fusion but was so damn awesome.
Falcon would be a great name, but its also a good opportunity to bring back the Crown Victoria line up. They could use the ST trim as a police unit just like they do with the Explorer.
The last “4 door Mustang” was in fact a Falcon though. So I mean Falcon fits if they want it to relate back to the Mustang
They need to offer the 4 door with the Barra and the Coyote. I really like performance sedans. G8’s, SS’s, CTS-V’s, etc are some of my favorite cars.
Sooo it's a crown vic, basically
Same engine, different platform.
I hope they do something like that instead of calling it mustang

Bring back the 4.6 Vic 😂
It would be cool to see more of a 1960 falcon front end than the modern mustang front
I’m honestly surprised that ford hasn’t brought the falcon over here to the US
a return of the Crown Vic?🤔 maybe?...perhaps...

Remember when Ford released the Taurus SHO in the 2010s and it would straight up WALK away from a Mustang GT in a 0 to 60. Lol. Those were good times.
Ford can do their thing, i just want the new corvette engine in a Malibu.
First time I see that article. Also didn't know previously about the Australian Falcon.. I have always go for calling it Falcon. Is historically correct.
Ford feeling the regrets of not having Aussie Sedans lol It won't be too long you guys get four door Camaros.
The point of no return happens when they make a 4 door corvette
They already tried a 4door Camaro - the Chevy SS V8 sedan. It failed because they didn't advertise it, it was to expensive, PDs didn't buy it, and the Charger was better at the time.
I want a Mustang UTE! 2 door, 6 foot bed, V8, RWD, manual transmission.

A 4 door Camaro is just as disgusting as a 4 door Mustang. Just choose another name plate.

For a dad of two, the lack of sport sedans is tough!! M3 is the top of the list in my opinion but at the end of the day it is just too much money. a 4 door mustang sounds pretty good, but i definitely should be called the falcon.
i actually had a conversation about this the other day, i was talking about the vauxhall monaro and vxr8 (theyre redbadged holdens also know as opel in europe). i said id love a 4 or 5 seat v8 car thats undder £20,000, reasonable size and relatively modern. the vauxhall vxr 8 and monaro are perfect but the monaros are now minimum 15 years old and the last vxr8 was near a decade ago. theyre also insanely rare, i cant imagine trying to buy bodywork components for a monaro or vxr8 because holden doesnt exist anymore.
the germans came up in that conversation but theyre either too big or have reliability concerns, like the m156 headbolt issues or the f10 m5s hot v set up having turbo issues. the mustang inevitably came up in that conversation and seemed like an obvious pick as they are coming closer to the 20k price limit each year but unlike the old monaro or vxr8 an average adult doesnt really fit in the back of a mustang. a four door mustang is a gap in fords line up theyve had for a long time and would be a future must buy for me, bring back the falcon.
For those family men who still want a muscle car I pray ford does this idc if it’s called a mustang or falcon

It's a good direction doing the 4 door mustang as you mentioned Cadillac and dodge gave already done it.. call it the falcon it makes sense

I hope they do. As a dad I’d love one but can’t justify a two door with basically no room in the back but a 4 door ya, it’s back in the conversation
Financially, it make more sense for them to build it to where they can carry over as many two door parts as possible… front end rear etc
A coyote sedan awd would be insane
It's very easy to see Ford using the Ford Falcon from Australia. Nice car with rear wheel drive and a v8.
