      @hertzwave8001 yes the factory backed 2017 Viper ACR was on pace for sub 7min before it crashed due to a tire failure & the factory backing was pulled before they could try again. Then the crowd funded Viper ACR ran a 7:01, very impressive as a manual transmission and no factory backing, and is 6+ years old. All the tech in today's cars plus the tire advancements makes it even more impressive, as well as costing a fraction of the price. The ACR set 16 lap records in one year too.

    • @Tranceport913
      @Tranceport913 Месяц назад +36

      @rondail5675 The GTD is a very sophisticated track car (I'm not listing all the tech & engineering components, too long to list), basically a GT3 race car with a license plate on the back, while the ZR1 is more of a supercar 1064hp with creature comforts & amenities for the street, hits high top speed, 1200lbs of downforce & will be able to track very well too. I'm guessing the GTD for more technical tracks, ZR1 where you have more straights. Either way it's a win win. Competition is always great. I own multiple Z06's as well as R35 GTR & others but I always welcome competition.

      Cool it was sub 7 min but was expecting much faster? Waaay more tech, engineering, R&D, $325k+ starting price and only barely 4 sec faster than the old 2017 Gen 5 Viper ACR (manual too) that ran 7:01 and was crowd funded to run, not factory like Ford (the factory backed Viper ACR was on pace for sub 7min before it crashed due to a tire failure & the factory backing was pulled before they could try again). I just think it's interesting that a basically GT3 car with a license plate bolted on and partnership with Multimatic and a TON of tech, DRS/active aero, carbon everywhere, straight cut transaxle from a GT3 racecar, carbon driveshaft, sophisticated suspension, 50/50 weight distribution, massively wide tires, magnesium wheels, etc (I could go on & on), & costing well over twice as much, was barely faster than 6+ year old Viper that was manual transmission and wasn't factory supported to run. Congrats to Ford on sub 7 though.
      I have no allegiance to Dodge, I do like the Viper but just making a non bias observation. I do give huge props to Ford (w/Multimatic) for creating the Mustang GTD project, I absolutely love the 100% aggressive track focused approach with this car.

      That car wouldn’t even be close to what it is now if it was made entirely by ford. Don’t get me wrong it would still be an insane car but without the help of multimatic it would probably be in the competition range of a c8 zo6 if even that. I’m interested to see how the c8 zr1 does though because it’s entirely Chevy made and somehow still cheaper than the gtd. Not trying to take away from the accomplishment of ford but I feel like it may soon be dethroned.

    • @tylerking27
      @tylerking27 25 дней назад +1

      @ the corvette is an all aluminum sub frame car and the GTD has the same steel frame unibody as the base Mustang. That’s the point they’re trying to make with this car, but too many people are too dumb to figure that out. If they wanted to go faster they would’ve made the GT MK IV street legal or at least made something off of that platform, but they’re trying to prove that they can make a pony car as fast as tubbed sports & supercars. Ford is flexing its muscles with this. It’s genuinely amazing how it gets 800hp onto the road without lighting up the tires every time, especially considering that it’s front engine and doesn’t have the luxury of a rear mounted engine pushing the tires into the ground on throttle. Marvel of engineering. On the other hand, I imagine this setup here has semi slicks (minimum), 6 speed racing sequential, racing differential, and I’m not sure that the car will be released w/drs either, but still though; modern masterpiece. Ford back on top.

      Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R's just as the car will be delivered, and the same Tremec DCT 8-speed transaxle as the production car. In the documentary you can see the tires being warmed in blankets to prep the car but they are in fact the "street" tires that many manufacturers are delivering their ultra high performance models with nowadays. The only changes to this car are additional safety items such as the rollbar, seat, and restraints for obvious reasons.

      Mercedes Benz AMG GT Black Series was at this similar price point. It was faster in so called damp conditions. Lap here was in August. Ford tried again after AMG ONE in late September but chose not to lap on a damp track like Black Series.
      Viper was not a factory attempt like here. A few upgrades would made it under 7 min. We have to give some credit but time is around what I predicted when was released.
