This is what I like about Dr Gundry, he isn't afraid to challenge mainstream nutrition and health thinking and backs his information with hard facts for research and personal patient feedback. Thanks for another great podcast Dr Gundry.
Fruits in moderation is a good option. I followed more than 15 doctors the last 10 years, bought more than 30 books on nutrition and health, examined and experimented many types of diets and ironically most doctors, to each their own theories and experiences , contradict themselves! My humble advice is eat a whole spectrum of healthy foods in moderation and most importantly listen to you body and take note how certain foods react to you body. If some particular foods make you feel bad or irritate you just get rid of it...listen to your body ! , each person is unique when it comes to digestion of foods. Tc
i agree completely. there are credible doctors on youtube that are honest and very clear about their beliefs and it’s difficult to determine which are correct. believing in only one doctor is dangerous. some eat only fruit, some eat wheat, some are against fruit and wheat. i’m sure there are benefits to all types of diets but even with all the research it’s very unclear what we as humans are supposed to eat. unfortunately by the time we know what hurts us, the damage is done. not knowing what hurts one person, is scary because how does that person know what to avoid unless it has an immediate negative reaction. as hunters/gatherers all food was scarse and back then it was hard to over eat any type of food. contrary to that, some areas of the world had limits types of food and people had to consume a lot of only few foods. we come from central italy and fruits, potatoes, wheat, and some corn were in abundance because my family and others would farm these foods and 70 years of age was the let’s say the average life span. your conclusion seems to be the most accurate because not one doctor or nutritionist has all the correct answers. people are different, foods are different, and all the reactions are different. in my humble opinion, NOT doing damage is the most important thing you can do to live as long as “you” can live, so “your” body can do what it can possibly do. if you were to land on earth from a galaxy far away, you’d see humans and animals eating a vast variety of foods!that grow in the ground, and on plants. nothing comes in a bag or box. you mentioned “healthy” foods in moderation, “healthy” as in our bodies know what to do with it because it grew naturally. God help us!
Dr Grundy is spot on on everything he says. Can he be wrong sometimes? Well when he is he points it out! Remember this nutritional science is an ongoing thing. I've lost 10 pounds following his advice and feel great! kudos to you Dr Grundy!!
Dr Gundry is such un underrated doctor. Everything that he says in the plant paradox is 100% correct. No other 'online' doctor talks about it except for Dr. Gundry. I've experienced first hand how the veggies he mentioned cause me harm. I never knew this before and I'm so glad I now know. Excellent work Dr. Gundry! Keep up the good work!!! 💛✨💛
Dr Gundry, I finally understood. about fruits & fructose, thank you for having taken the time to help us understand in such simple terms, your marvellous! Greetings from Kuala Lumpur- Malaysia 🇲🇾
What is outstanding about this podcast is the fact that there’s no advertisements in it. I wouldn’t mind if there is any in the beginning or at the end, in-fact there should’ve advertisements in this kind of videos for revenue as a return favor because you are Dr. Gundry and you are always looking out for us.
You are the world expert on good health. Many more people should listen to your podcasts or even better buy your fantastic Books! Why not become the Health Minister of this Planet? Grazie Dr Gundry
This was in your book: Shop for fruit in season. Fruit contain fewer lectins when ripe, so eating apples, berries, and other lectin-containing fruits at the peak of ripeness helps minimize your lectin consumption. SO fruit or no fruit??
Excellent presentation! Out of all the "healthy eating" books I've read, your "Plant Paradox" has had the biggest impact and has changed my diet forever. Not only do I avoid fruit (save berries), but my 8 yr old son hasn't had a fruit or soda drink for years. He's learned to be happy with H2O. Keep preaching this, Dr. Gundry! Many more people need to hear the message, "Give Fruit the Boot"!
I m glad you put that put there because when I was eating green smoothies with fruit my gallbladder which is sluggish would swell up and I would have a pancreas and gallbladder mini attack and I thought I was crazy and decided to do all veggie smoothies and didnt have that problem now I know why
Excellent. I think it helps to approach everything regarding health with no assumptions, pre-conditions or hard line opinions. I mean, yes, we all love the foods that we love and tend to be protective. I love organic, coffee (espresso no cream/sugar). Right now the science supports it as healthy but if they find out otherwise, I'll probably stop drinking it. One thing I know for sure, when you get sick, it's amazing how quick you'll start listening to the science. At one point, I could hardly get out of bed I was so inflamed and racked with pain from Arthritis. I've listened to and followed Dr Gundry's advice for several years now and no longer deal with RA. But to his point, I had to cut out all sugars; and yes, even fruits. It sucks. hahaa. Of course, there were more foods I eliminated and plenty that I added. Complicated protocol actually, but the cool thing is - I'm healthy now. It all worked. No meds. I'm in better shape at 63 than when I was 36. Also, my wife no longer drinks fruit smoothies because it caused serious spikes in her sugar levels. So I find this information very credible, experientially. Thank you!
Dr. Gundry I am constantly evolving and I am so lucky to be able to listen and learn from you..I have been living the low carb diet since the 80’s and when I get my blood work done my doctor always ask if I live in the bush! Listening to you just confirms my lifestyle!! Please continue teaching us!
The people doing a raw vegan diet must be very disappointed. Most of the fruits on the supermarket don't have so much vitamines as they have traveled many kilometres and buying local - organic is not an option for most of us cause they are too expensive
i still eat a lot of fruit but slowly cutting out high suger ones and will eventually only eat them during summer, but im 21 and very active (3-4 hours a day)
Nobody is perfecy, probably some stuff wont be as accurate as anyone would like it to be but, I can tell you something, as far as I am concerned, his recomendation for me are religion. His advice has change my entire health life, I can tell that must of the time he is right. Besides, he is human, he probably will make mistakes or say stuff that wont apply to everyone. Dr. Gundry, keep going, extraordinary work. Congratulations!!!
Thanks Dr. Gundry, this is one Episode i really enjoy. It's really unbeleavable to hear of the lack of human thinking that is present today. Sometimes i really think that great apes and gorillas are smarter than most humans. 😅
Dr Gundry, Your latest podcasts that you have been doing are incredible! Full of great teaching. I love that you have moved on from the Corona Virus. You did great podcasts on that subject. I am glad you are moving forward. I have recently become more educated by you about triglycerides and how to lower them. Mine are good around 80, but since you have said that yours is around 30, I want to know how to get closer to 30. For me, I think my problem has been snacking on chips. My wife, who does not follow the program always has chips around and I tend to get weak and end up grabbing them and snacking on them. I love your podcasts! Keep them coming.
Today’s poisons are processed foods, fast foods, including restaurant foods, unless you have spoken to the waiter and believe that no adulterated oils have been added to your food.
Is it design or evolution ? Design. But i believe you are right about eating fruit IN SEASON.The season that GOD DESIGNED it to bear fruit in.Evolution is a theory. I respect your knowledge in nutrition tho.Bless your heart.
Seriously people can doubt all his studies and his research but look at Dr Gundry, his radiance skin , glowing even from the RUclips screen ✨ I can don’t trust his studies but his look & health speaks louder than his words… so ya… I trust you Dr 👍🏻 because I wanna look like this too, been ordering his supplements too , thanks Dr for taking care of us 👍🏻
Thank for your magistral input of knowledge and investigations that can help every one. But I never hear you talking about the difference between low glycemic rise and fast glycemic rise in term of gaining weight, you don’t gain weight easily on slow digestion carb.
Dr Robert Lustig would agree with you on fructose. One of the RTC trials you referenced was one of his replacing fructose with starches same caloric values. Awesome video! Probably my favorite one
correction : Apples cultivars can not be bred like other fruits. It can not be manipulated to raise or lower sugar content or it's size. Apples are extreme heterozygotes. propagating from seeds will not result with the same characteristics of the original apple.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zygosity
Fantastic video. I didn’t know about sun chokes. My only fruit is berries and I eat them after eating a lot of fat and protein. it’s worked out well for me. Although I haven’t had follow up blood work since starting keto and intermittent fasting, I have lost 44 pounds and stopped taking several medications.
D.r Gundry agree with you 100%Out of experience noticed some changes of a diabetic type 1,who stop eating fruits when blood sugar was low lost 20kgs by taking a bar of dark chocolate or muesli bar and cooking food from scratch e.g butternut, pamkin, broccoli, cabbage e.t.c There is no konfusion its the bitter true, thank you for waking Our health, lets master medicinal food and avoid poisonous food.salute Dr. Gundry stay dry to the true😊
I have to trick my wife to watch this. She bring yet again all the fruit to our household. Apples, grapes, bananas. And she watched once upon a time all the good advises, we have the Longevity Paradox in our bookshelf, and Ketotarian by Dr.Cole. Now in the COVID stress she forgot all the wisdom, and brings the fructose back home. It would be of interest to have a table of just when a specific berry is "in season." I eat only raspberries, blackberries, strawberries. She bring grapes, and like zombie, I cannot resist to eat them.
I am a follower of your program and use your supplements for about 5 months now, I thank God for Dr Gundry , I am doing better,Thank you, thank you, I tell all my friends, I follow Dr. Gundry, I love you,you are the answer to my prayers Frances H New Jersey.😄☺️💓🙋🎃🍁
Been doing your eating plan for 3 weeks - amazing results - less inflammation. What are your thoughts to Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)?? Really would appreciate. A sulfur by-product of wood and or fruit.
PP
How about green mangoes or green guavas or partly ripe fruits? We eat partly ripe mangoes, or guava or papaya dip in vinegar or fish sauce. I'm from the philippines.Thank you, dr. Gundry.
I hung on every word of this. I've been mostly carnivore since January, and feel fantastic, but I have deviated by eating apples. I did suspect that I was enjoying them a bit too much, and likely using them to satisfy a sweet tooth. I find this video very convincing, even though I don't like the message. 😟
Oh dear, I've been fruitarian for 2 and a half yrs to try and heal from chronic sickness and have got sicker than ever. Bye bye fruit and thankyou Dr Gundry
Why do people think fruit is bad for you? One reason that excessive added sugar intake is harmful is the negative metabolic effects of fructose when consumed in large amounts. Many people now believe that because added sugars are bad, the same must apply to fruits, which also contain fructose👍
I recently set for myself a limit of 3 ounces of fruit daily because of evidence that fruit consumption was causing a big problem with too many small, dense, LDL particles which is known to greatly promote inflammation. There is a lot of hype declaring certain fruits to have rosy health benefits. The truth doesn't match the hype.
This was another wonderful podcast. I've been on PP over 2 years. I am VERY careful regarding what I eat (no fruit, minimal pastured meat only, avoid endocrine disruptors, comply 100% with yes/no list). I just got lab results after 2 years on the program and my A1C is still at 5.7 after 2 years. Total CH was 300! Doctor wants me on statins but I refuse because of side effects. I'm wondering if my sleep apnea is affecting this? My hemoglobin was very low and my doctor advised me to have my C-pap mask checked. I can't sleep longer than 6 hrs/night even with taking time released melatonin, avoid blue light, last meal 4 hours before bed. etc. Can you address sleep and specifically sleep apnea in one of your podcasts? I'm thinking sleep may be affecting my cortisol, lipids, and ultimately my A1C.
Hey Dr Gundry. What is best food to treat piles and hemaroids. How can maintain your fiber intake through plant paradox program. Please make a small video on this issue
I like the topic. Not only did I read the books, but on the diet for several months. I can see and feel benefits, but do have concern about criticisms for the lack of scientific evidence which could support his claim that lectins are no good for humans.
Dr.Gundry, I absolutely love you!!!! Am so glad I found your channel!!💯👍💖🌍 Ps. Are there anyone on this planet growing grapes with seeds?? They simply disappeared from the market!!
Dr Gundry...I've been using your Gut Restore for about 3 months... GREAT stuff. I've always eaten lots of fruit and am TOTALLY confused at this point.. so I'm curious...what are the best foods for winter?
Fruit is only bad for you if its processed and modified with GMO's like added sugar's and changing the way it grows naturally. and even if this is fixed like this guy said only have a little fruit as a special day I reckon like Birthday's or party's but not on a daily basis. 90-100% Dark chocolate is far better as a daily treat in very small portions. On the plus side there's no need to buy excess fruit now save money spend it on DArk chocolate lol
interesting points, however i disagree, we are attracted to fruit because its human food. what species isnt attracted to and persuaded to eat its species specific food. comparing fruit to a chocolate bar is a bit much, one has fibre, vitamins, minerals. before mastery of fire, fruit would have been our primary source of fuel for millions of years. you quote the bluezone, they eat a high carbohydrate diet with lots of veggies. fruit is a carbohydrate thats low in fat. diabetes is a problem with excess fat in the blood stream, if it was a problem of sugar, then people eating a low fat high carbohydrate diet wouldnt be reversing their type 2 diabetes but they do, as dr neal Bernard has been proving for years, the okinawans eat a diet of 80% sugar from sweet potatoes . if people are loading up on fat then carbohydrates aren't going to effectively enter the blood stream effectively. great apes gain weight during fruit seasons...is irrelevant. obesity isnt caused because people are spending their days at the fruit isle, its caused because people are consuming excess amounts of animal products, vegetable oils and processed food.
My body fails matabolize processed/refined foods such as chocolate bars and donuts.. face swelling.. pale skin.. and hormonal imbalnce usually results.. Is it possible that we evolved to eat food? Rather then.. say.. imitations of food? Im no genious.... but
Fruit is very acidic, and high in sugar which is why it rots your teeth, this fact alone should inform you to limit how much fruit you consume. Keep up the good work Dr. G!
I understand that modern fruits were bred to be ultra sweet. However, if I add a small amount of berries to a smoothie that has large amounts of leafy greens and avocado, doesn’t that fiber cancel out the excess fructose?
Been on keto for 2 yesrs, aged terribly and suffered from insomnia after that. Had to add fruit into my diet again to look healthier and to able to sleep. Besides, keto is not healthy longterm for women.. They need fruit.
Is interesting how we don't want to change even though we can see in the studies how bad fructose for human consumptioni is, we try to convince ourselves that fruit is great for us because we are addicted to sugar
Hey Doc G! Question: What are your thoughts on flavored sparkling water? In particular, I'm a huge fan of Spindrift, which is a sparkling water with small amounts of fruit puree added (for a total of 1 - 3 carbs and 3 - 17 calories per can). Any concern about lectins from trace amounts of puree in this beverage?
Dr Gundry - I‘d be interested to hear your views on yacon root. I grow yacon root in my garden and really love eating it taw. But is it good for diabetics? I‘ve only found research on yacon sirup which apparently is good for diabetics???
I wish I had time to watch! I lost 47 pounds and have kept it off by eating a balanced diet. That means I eat meat, fish, eggs, nuts, vegetables, and at least 3 pieces of fruit a day. I "cheat" with cheese or icecream or bread or a bit of pie or cake ( on holidays) only one to three times a week. Candy IS worse than fruit. Processed fruit is bad for you. Fruit juices are bad for you. Glazed doughnuts might not have as much sugar as an apple but it does contain something that a person cannot digest and that is flour. He is correct about the dark chocolate. You eventually loose your craving for candy. Check out what digestion scientists have to say about it. Surprising! Takes just one week to get off of foods you cannot digest. There is no fat in fruit. Turns out that animal fats and certain other fats arr very good for you. Certain vegetables cannot be digested. Find out. You will be glad you did. Just remember to try to cheat occasionally to keep yourself from binging on those things that cannot be digested. Those are the things that are the fat in a person who does not eat a balanced diet. They can eventually stay stored in your body. Yes, if you do eat nothing but fruit, you probably will mess up your digestive system. Eat a balanced diet, you will be glad you do! I am 73 years old and feel great!

believing in only one doctor is dangerous. some eat only fruit, some eat wheat, some are against fruit and wheat.
i’m sure there are benefits to all types of diets but even with all the research it’s very unclear what we as humans are supposed to eat.

I agree with that
Im eating almost 10 years of wheat bread .i already avoid to eat white bread.and now they says dont
Yours is the best comment on this video. Too many doctors practice
mass medicine which ignores the individual response to foods.

maybe, however one of the first words said in this video is HIGH !! anything In EXCESS Is too much for
fruit imported in usa maybe of mediocre quality ! however i'd prefer all fruits 'in MODERATION' if coming from Peru
No, they meant if you throw one apple at doctor a day, you can avoid seeing doctors.
I m glad you put that put there because when I was eating green smoothies with fruit my gallbladder which is sluggish would swell up and I would have a pancreas and gallbladder mini attack and I thought I was crazy and decided to do all veggie smoothies and didnt have that problem now I know why

Thank you so much Dr gundry. Your presentation of complex issues is so helpful. And the humor you add and your Humanity a heartwarming. God bless.

You can safely add another one, olives(I prefer green in brine)
Salmon

Thanks for doing this one because I argue with people about eating too much fruit. Anxious to hear what you'll say.

I love to hear you quote Carl Sagan - a great mind.
Save Rush Limbaugh and Alex Trebek please.
I eat one orange a week and I believe it's fine for me.🥭
Thanks again dr. Gundry for all of the great content. I am so grateful for everything that I have learned from your books and videos.

What if you live in Florida or Hawaii? The fruit season is 3 times longer
than in the northern US.

And some tropical fruit like durian, jackfruit, mango, machang and cempedakx will emit a very strong smell to attract human and animal.
Love you Dr. Gundry!! Great podcast!! My doctor is Michael Hirt, M.D. here in California and forbids fruit!!! Please have him on the show!! 😃😃
I'm 60 and not giving up my fruit. I eat it in moderation during the season and not at all off season.

Our body runs on glucose not fructose this is true but the body prefers keytones than glucose. keytons from healthy fat ketosis foods.

Thank you for showing us the facts in this way. I am very thankful for this.
So what kind of fruit do I eat?
apparently he only approves of blackberries, rasberries and maybe
strawberries - throw out mostly everything else, eat meat and die
young
Passion Fruit, berries, citrus when in season.

PP
Thank you Dr. S. Gundry....
How about green mangoes or green guavas or partly ripe fruits? We eat partly ripe mangoes, or guava or papaya dip in vinegar or fish sauce. I'm from the philippines.Thank you, dr. Gundry.
Thank you for giving update in what we should do in our eating habit, thanks again
I hung on every word of this. I've been mostly carnivore since January, and feel fantastic, but I have deviated by eating apples. I did suspect that I was enjoying them a bit too much, and likely using them to satisfy a sweet tooth. I find this video very convincing, even though I don't like the message. 😟
fyi: Gundry thinks theCarnivore diet is very unhealthy.
Oh dear, I've been fruitarian for 2 and a half yrs to try and heal from chronic sickness and have got sicker than ever. Bye bye fruit and thankyou Dr Gundry
Which fruit is safe to eat?
What was your chronic sickness..??
You ate only fruit..??
Nothing else..??
Thank you in advance..!!
Regards from greece :)
It would be great if you add screenshots of those papers into the video so that we can see them easier.
Why do people think fruit is bad for you?
One reason that excessive added sugar intake is harmful is the negative metabolic effects of fructose when consumed in large amounts. Many people now believe that because added sugars are bad, the same must apply to fruits, which also contain fructose👍
what about lemons squeezed in water?
What about in latitudes where we don’t have the different seasons and fruits grow all year round? Should we eat fruit because it is available?
He answers this somewhere - I can’t remember where - he suggest having at least 3 months fruit free to imitate a winter.
No words at all, all the evidence is on the table.
FANTASTIC answer, thanks Bro.
Gut restore is a program?
Cabbage, sunchokes, kale, beets, turnips, Radishes, onions, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower
Thank you Dr. Gundry.
I eat avocado everyday and my cholesterol is not only good but excellent according to my gp I eat very little fruit but it’s the only sugar I eat
Im no genious.... but
I only drink black coffee green tea 💦 water
Behind my house (in a forest) a lot of raspberries grow, the fruit is about half to a third of the size of commercial ones.
Thank you, Dr. Gundry!
Dr Gundry what about babies and kids what foods should babies start eating
I’ve found out that frankly fruit is not my friend. Fructose is a foe.
Jen Compton they are identical twins
Fruit is very acidic, and high in sugar which is why it rots your teeth, this fact alone should inform you to limit how much fruit you consume. Keep up the good work Dr. G!
Or you can brush your teeth.
I love you good doctor !!!
I understand that modern fruits were bred to be ultra sweet. However, if I add a small amount of berries to a smoothie that has large amounts of leafy greens and avocado, doesn’t that fiber cancel out the excess fructose?
How much is too much and how much is appropriate?
How can seeds survive if u chew them?
Your great. God Bless your caring heart.
Been on keto for 2 yesrs, aged terribly and suffered from insomnia after that. Had to add fruit into my diet again to look healthier and to able to sleep. Besides, keto is not healthy longterm for women.. They need fruit.
Thank you Dr Gundry. Always looking out for me. 👍🏻
So should you not chew grape seeds? Because I chew them
Dr Gundry - I‘d be interested to hear your views on yacon root. I grow yacon root in my garden and really love eating it taw. But is it good for diabetics? I‘ve only found research on yacon sirup which apparently is good for diabetics???
I love fruit 😩
Dr .Gundry..Thank you!
Ken Olson was a founder of Digital Equipment Company (DEC).
What if we grow our own food organically from non-gmo seeds?
Wow, thank you for this. I am glad I am aware of this.
Dr.G, I think you should grow that beard about. You would look great with a nice trimmed up snowy situation on your chin. Thanks for the info!
Excellent discussion, very helpful.
This is a gem piece of information. Pure gold. Respect. Thank you SIR!
