Amazing video, can't thank you enough. I feel encouraged to start walking as I did as a young woman, I will be 80 next year, and still feel as though I can do this. THANKYOU.
Couldn't agree more. Went from a job where I had to sit all the time to walking 20.000 steps a day and I'm healthier than ever! Greetings from Belgium and keep it safe!
I love walking in nature even when it’s cloudy , rainy , snowy day. Even when I don’t feel like it , it does wonders for your mood and I suspect for overall health♥️🌧❄️☀️
Plant paradox is changing my life. I have had gut issues for years. My complaints fell on deaf ears with my physicians. 28 days on plant paradox I have no more reflux, no stomach inflammation, my joints feel better, I sleep better. I have lost 5 pounds but it looks like 10. I am thrilled. Now I will walk.
Pls Dear Betty give me the name of the plants and posology It's now a decade I face slow digestion issues and sometimes can't breathe well and with deglutition problems Just like a stone inside my stomach
Yep. I heard a speaker the other day say: "The best thing you can do for your health is to get rid of your car". I am not going that far, but I get the point.
I absolutely adore this concept. I grew up with a mother who still doesn't drive, I am 36 and walk everywhere. I'm Scotch-Irish & Swedish... walking is a strong desire for me.( Like grounding)
Watching from the Philippines. I walk a lot here even though many of the sidewalks are a bit of an obstacle course. Filipinos often ask where I am going and tell me, "Sir, that is too far to walk."
It’s quit funny that this video has thousands of views and no comments 😂 that’s cause no one wants to get off duff to move! I personally started walking 20 years ago when I quit smoking and now I still strive to get at least 12 thousand steps a day! Happy trails everyone 😊
Just finished working with my chest expander 20/10/10/15 times by 4 times and I am going to walk 20,000 steps . I am 59 years old but people think I'm 35
I got addicted to walking 38 yrs ago. Now I do 15 min. 'senior' Tai Chi, followed by a 15 min 'stretch' video. I usually do a targeted exercise video for arms, core or legs and boot, too. Then I walk! I give credit to walking...I don't think I'd be motivated to do all that if it weren't for walking! .If I'm watching TV, I do a Wendy Ida video during commercials...they're only 3-5 min long, so they fit in between segments nicely! It makes me feel so good, I can't get enough! I'm 68.
When I was younger and did’nt own a car my weight stayed down I got a driving job at 23 and I didn’t realize it until years later when I started noticing weight gain that walking is what kept my weight down and I had lots more energy so people getting walking shoes on and you will feel better and get your health back
Well yes unfortunately we do have to lift weights, especially if your over 40. We're not climbing trees anymore and less and less of us have manual jobs. Muscle is a very important organ.
I love walking and feel good when I do it not knowing that it's that much beneficial. So i will do it more frequently. Thanks for enlightening about it's benefits!
Great interview and great points shared, thank you!! When we have vacationed to places where a lot of walking is the norm (like Japan), we always wind up losing weight as opposed to on other vacations, where walking is not practical.
2,000 steps average per mile. An average person has a stride length of approximately 2.1 to 2.5 feet. That means that it takes over 2,000 to walk one and 10,000 would be almost 5 . A sedentary person may only average 1,000 to 3,000 a day.
Marjorie Cusack I have stage 5 kidney failure and can not find if your diet is safe for my health. There appear to be no references to the effect on kidneys? I have ordered your books and am transitioning to a plant-based diet. I would be grateful for your advice on which food is safe for kidneys.
You can walk all you want in SF and NY but the health is just not reflected there. SF seems to be overwhelmed with mental illness and NY didn’t do too well during this pandemic so...Has to be a lot more to health than walking.
NYC is a very dense city where we are all on top of each other. Have been in a subway train during rush hour? On a crowded elevator? Don’t compare us to other states where most people are commuting in their cars comfortably.
I live in NYC and I hate walking around here. I have to be picky about where I walk and there isn't much beauty to be found round here...at least in my opinion.
This is a great comfort to know that walking will be good for me. I got my license suspended by the police for a month. I was overtaking carefully they just love to abuse their power.
I’m 88, and 10,000 steps a day (with two new hips), is pretty hard to do. I set a timer and walk 200 steps every 35minutes, but this is far from 10,000.
I love to walk at the beach. But walking, on the pavement, in a city, with the polluter air. With tennis shoes made of plastic ? ? ? If I am in the city, I do prefer go up and down the stairs as many times as posible. Yea, I passes around while on the phone. As a teacher I am walking constantly in my classroom, I do seat at luch time and that's it.
Thanks, Doc, What if you're disabled and unable to walk distances? Lots of short walks would seem the best alternative but would they be as successful?
Dr. Gundry, love the podcast. You should have Tom Rutland on the podcast. He created a walking style, using poles to engage all the major muscle groups here in the United States called Exerstriding.
I am a 66 year old male and have been on the program for about a year and feel great. I recently had an eye exam by an optometrist who told me that he saw trace cataract formation in my eyes and that I would need surgery in about 10 years. What additional steps could I take to prevent further progression of the cataracts? Thanks
They are mineral tissue deposits, mostly calcium. Drinking every day water with a spoon of apple cider vinegar can help, the malic acid helps to disolve them. Then you need collagen plus magnesium so that calcium will stick back to your bones.
Thanks Dr. Gundry! I'm new to listening to the show, but I love it! I'm applying lots of your advice to my life and it's turning my life around! I will get your book/books, when I get some money. I wonder if there's anything about food that is wild (weeds like dandelion and chicory and many others) and ( wild mushrooms cooked) Thanks!!!
But does too much walking affect hormones? I have a treadmill, i often get on and walk at a regular walking pace and slight incline, 5-6 times a day for 20-30 minutes. I hear people who walk 10 miles a day. I wonder about hormones, pituitary function
Eat 20g of *net* carbs, 30 g of protein and moderate amount of fat and you won't need even lift a finger for weight drop. Of course you still need at least some walking for muscles, veins etc. Our great ancestors apes wouldn't sit whole day on chair They would instead move around big part of day jumping on trees in the jungle and collecting those 7-10 cups of their foods
Well I guess as long as you are moving ..however...I would say walking outdoors when you can might be better. You are out in the open air getting (hopefully) fresh air into your lungs...getting vitamin D from the sun...just clearing your mind in a new environment versus staying in the one same spot.
I’m a walker and I overall agree with and appreciate this podcast. However… This liberal utopia idea that everybody is going to live on top of one another, walk everywhere we go and never leave the square mile where we live…what a boring life that would be!
I luurve your spectacles you’re sporting in today’s episode! Your tie also looks very smart. But I am not sure about the carmine red of it and the particular shade of pink of the frames! 😉😅. Jokes aside, I love the way you join great information with great presentation. 😎 Keep up the great work and the great looks, doctor.
The scamdemic has absolutely changed the mood of walking and I'm sorry, but it's NOT more friendly. We have our faces covered (for no reason) and people don't smile and chat or acknowledge each other. It's fearful and unpleasant. I walk early in the morning now.
My father walked and walked. He walked daily at dawn. He walked daily at dusk. He walked from the age of 10 years of age. He walked and walked for the next 66 years, but died of a heart attack at a relatively young age of 76. He was a non smoker, non drinker and a pure vegetarian. Always happy. But died at 76. My Father-in-law never walked. Smoked in younger age but quit by 40 years of age. He never moved until absolutely necessary. Very jovial. But hardly moved out of his house from the age of 65. He died at 80. Khushwant Singh just walked in his small garden feeding birds and cats. Never went for long walks. Never exercised. Sedentary life. Ate very little. Drank 2-3 pegs of Scotch Whiskey daily. Wrote extensively. He died at 99. BKS Iyengar did yoga and meditation for his entire life. Strict disciplinarian and led a highly regimented life. He was a yoga expert. He died at 97. Moral of the story: SCOTCH HAS A THREE YEAR ADVANTAGE OVER YOGA IF YOU HAVE TO DIE , YOU WILL DIE. IT IS IN YOUR GENES. WALKING DOES NOTHING.
I live in Switzerland and I am lucky enough to walk by the lake Geneva. It is really fortunate to have this environment to walk around!
Amazing video, can't thank you enough.
I feel encouraged to start walking as I did as a young woman,
I will be 80 next year, and still feel as though I can do this. THANKYOU.
Yes you can!
Good for you. I have pain, but I am going to try too.❤️❤️. I am 70 today.
❤️

I am not going that far, but I get the point.
I canceled my gym membership a year ago when the pandemic 😷 started to walk around the neighborhood instead and doing it about 3 days a week.
I absolutely adore this concept. I grew up with a mother who still doesn't drive, I am 36 and walk everywhere. I'm Scotch-Irish & Swedish... walking is a strong desire for me.( Like grounding)

My favourite exercise 👍🏼
Free and saves you money as well.
I stopped driving and I walk it since last summer back and forth every day to work

I grew up walking ALL the time in San Francisco! Still walking in my late 60’s but now in the wine country.

I’ve walked as much as 15 miles a day. Some days are just perfect for walking.

Superb. Thank you. This is what RUclips should be used for, in my opinion.
I love walking and feel good when I do it not knowing that it's that much beneficial. So i will do it more frequently. Thanks for enlightening about it's benefits!
I read your first two books... Recommended to my vegitarian friend who is following your diet approach & lost 15 pounds so far. He feels much better!!
This is what I love about NYC.
Walk to the subway. To the supermarket. Park 3 blocks from home because I can't find a spot.
MY BEST FRIEND TOLD ME that his girlfriend loves taking him on longs walks...to the nearest ATM. Those walks proved to be very unhealthy for him 😔
That’s funny 🤣🤣🤣
Wow, what a great guest! Great information, and enormously personable!
Great interview and great points shared, thank you!! When we have vacationed to places where a lot of walking is the norm (like Japan), we always wind up losing weight as opposed to on other vacations, where walking is not practical.
I put in 5535 steps while listening to this. While in the house just walking around
Thank you Dr. G for having these very interesting podcasts on all health subjects. I love them!
Hey Doc!!! I just started walking!!! Looking forward to a new healthier life!

My father taught me to live life at walking pace and if possible be barefoot. Get grounded and walk...its fun.
Excellent interview. Thank you Dr. Gundry.
Dr Gundry , so helpful, interesting and sooo funny . Love and wait for every podcast 😀😀🤩🤩🙏🏻💖🌷as I always sign my books : Love and Light
I lost 140 pounds walking minimum 10 000 steps a day ... And of course eliminated processed food and liquor ... Lots of water ...
How many miles did you aim each day to walk?
Merci Shane, great interview Doc.....
Thanks doc great tips to keep taking my daily walks !

Why not do all of them? Walking, running, HIIT, lifting weights etc.?
Walking has always been my exercise.
This is a great comfort to know that walking will be good for me.
I got my license suspended by the police for a month. I was overtaking carefully they just love to abuse their power.
*So, IF One Gets ONE SHOT, are they NOW IMMUNE to the CoVid!!!????*

He’s right! Pizza express is the best pizza
Good informations, as always 🙌

does walking on the treadmill or elliptical trainer as good as walking outside ?
I would like to know the answer to this too!

Love the SHOW!!!
careful when walking in inner cities, you may need to run instead
Loving that Irish accent....
thanks.
Great info as always Dr. G. Thank you!
Could you please make a video (s) about fibromyalgia. I love your olive oil BTW💪
Walk more and eat less. More nutrition and less pharmaceutical products.
Thanks 🙏👍🏼🙏👍🏼❤️

Well it took an Irishman to tell me I'm doing something right! Good on ya!
Is it OK to add lemon juice to beverages?
Only if u drink it in one sitting, sipping on it all days strips the enamel on your teeth, or flush with water after
Yes
Excellent! 😀😀😀😀😀
Great information!
is walking good
Swimming? Peddling? Stand-up cycling? Yes, walking, too! Everywhere!
Thank you Dr gundry
Very good
Do you recommend any type of shoes? General "tennis shoes", specific walking shoes or a running shoe but used for walking? thanks
New balance 860. Just walked 3000 miles. Fixed my injuries. They have several models, including a stability shoe. 💯
Better to go barefoot in suitable areas. Get grounded. You dont need special shoes for walking. Enjoy.
Is there a differential between using a treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike and walking outside?
*I Hope that you get a RePLy!!! & now, If You Get a RePLy, I'LL see it as weLL!!!!*
*Why do PeoPLe use Fake Faces!!!??? & FAKE Names?????*

How does walking tone your arms??? You gotta do something for soft triceps. Lol

Love it !
The future should be Fred Flintstone cars...
That would be Awesome 👍
I really appreciated it thank you so much
😁 thanku
Uhm Yaaa Dr Gunjry*
Walking is only good if it's FAST
Hopefully

How about we DON’T put on a face diaper!!!! Let’s get out and breathe in the fresh air and smile at our neighbors!
I agree 100%.
