  • Korean Meat Jun Recipe | Hawaii Style Korean Meat Jun
A Hawaii creation! Korean meat jun is on the menu....in Hawaii, mostly. But you can make it anywhere! Enjoy!
    Marinade:
    1 lb thinly sliced beef
    1/2 cup shoyu
    2 tbs sesame oil
    2 tbs sugar
    6 garlic cloves, minced
1 stalk of green onion, chopped
Mix all ingredients together and marinate the beef for at least hour in the refrigerator.
    Batter:
    2/3 cup flour
    4 eggs, beaten
Fill fry pan with oil to at least 1/2 inch deep and heat on medium/high. After marinating the beef, coat the beef in flour and then dip in egg and fry in oil for 1-2 mins on each side.
Drain oil and place on paper towel.
    Dipping Sauce:
    2 tbs shoyu
    1 tbs white vinegar
    1 tbs mirin
    1 tbs sesame oil
    6 garlic cloves, minced
    1 stalk green onion, chopped
chili pepper water or hot sauce or cayenne pepper or korean red pepper flakes to your taste (optional)

**I'm a Hawaii girl but live in Montana. While being here in Montana, I have had to find ways to be able to continue to enjoy our local Hawaii foods we grew up with. I'll share my cooking recipes in hopes to help others who are from the islands but living here on the 'mainland' and missing the taste of home.
I believe that cooking is love made visible. I love to cook for my family and seeing them enjoy what I poured my heart into, makes me feel loved back. This is what I hope to share with you!
I'll also sometimes share about beauty and everyday life because life gets busy and I just like to share stuffs to help others. 🌺🤙

We take it for granted that our food from Hawaii is everywhere. My family and I went to California to a Chinese restaurant and we didn’t find anything that we would normally order here at home. Thank you for this recipe I look forward to Aloha Friday’s!

Mahalo for the recipe. Looked really ono!
Yes, so true about a lot of Hawaii foods. Go to any Chinese restaurant and you won't find gau gee, crispy or regular. Even my SF Chinese friends never heard of it.

Looks delish, but what can you use if you don’t have chili water? I want to make this sometime this weekend.

Tabasco, cayenne pepper, Korean chili pepper flakes or crushed red pepper would all work just fine. Or you can omit it entirely.
