I'm watching this and the previous Q&A episodes in 2016 and having a big grin at him saying he'd like to be Peter Molyneux because he's such a respected game designer, and how Google Glass is the wave of the future :) Not poking fun at Squirrel at all; just makes me SO happy that so many of the predictions I've made based on what at the time seemed so obvious were never caught on a recording :D

There real engine on Peterbilts are red or yellow. Red being a cummins engine and yellow being a caterpillar engine. but on this mod it has a Detroit Diesel mod to my knowledge Peterbilt, Kenworth, and DAF (all being part of the same parent company [PACCAR]) do not use Detroit Diesel

I believe I said "I don't know" in the video if the red engine is like that in real life. I don't live in the US. My knowledge of US trucks is limited. I left it to my helpful viewers to comment and inform me, as they often do. I don't know everything, and I'm smart enough to know that.

23:58 That's not the Physics mod. I have the same physics mod and I don't have steering problems. That's just you going too fast. You took that turn at roughly 120 km/h (Since you were going 50 mp/h) and the sign said 40 (km/h.
Edit: Yeah, it's not a Physics mod problem. It's just you going WAY too fast. The speed limit is 80 km/h, which is 48 mp/h. You're going 60 - 70 mp/h. Which translates to 96 - 112 kp/h. You're essentially complaining about turning when you're going way faster than the roads are designed for
50 mph is 80 kmh 70 mph is about 120 kmh

The names of all the cars are starting with top row: Cadillac, Jaguar, Bently. Bottom row: Chrysler, Audi, and BMW.
The gray one at the back bottom is a Chrysler 300, and the gray one at the top front is a Cadillac

There's an interesting question - is there a practical reason why the EU prefers cab over trucks whilst in the US they do not? Certainly cab over trucks are more nimble and able to get around the narrow streets often found in older European cities but, as you say, aren't terribly aerodynamic.

My Grandfather, who drove long-haul trucks from 1929 to 1979, drove cabovers since at least the 1960s. He explained to me that cabovers are harder to work on, as you need to tip the cab to get at the engine, but they allowed to cab to be shorter.
Each of the 50 states has different regulations about truck length. Many of them have a limit on the length of the trailer as well as a limit on overall length. Thus, a shorter cab can often pull a longer trailer.
The cars on the trailer: Top rear: Maserati Top middle: Jaguar, Top front: Cadillac. Bottom Rear: Cadillac Bottom middle: Audi, Bottom Front: BMW :p
The Bottom Rear is a Chrysler 300C. Check out that fat rear emblem.

I think you pretty much nailed it. In the US, we have a lot of long straight roads between cities, making aerodynamics more important. US roads are wider too, so the shorter wheelbase of cab over isn't as important over here. Something I find interesting is that engine HP in "long nose" and cab over designs aren't really all that different.

BTW: truck speedlimit in europe 80km (approx 50mph) on motorway 70kmph (approx 45mph) on motor traffic ways (B roads?) if you exceed these limits by more than 10kmph you will probably receive a ticket...eventually! Cars are allowed up to 130Kmph depending on local.

Anecdotal evidence:
In the US, often trucks will drop trailers off outside a city and they will be taken into the city by a "day-cab". Day-cabs tend to be "conventional" (that is, not cabovers), although the kind with shorter hoods and no sleeper. As far as I know, it has been that way since before aerodynamics was much of an issue.
Similarly, shorter trailers are taken down the highway by big cabs that pull 2 at a time, then split up by two smaller conventional cabs for delivery.
Engine blocks in north america normally are easily identified by color yellow is Caterpillar, Red is Cummins and dark green would be Detroit or Mercedes Benz
The cars on your trailer are: on upper side you have Maserati quattroporte , Jaguar s type R and a Cadillac ctsv
On down side you have Chrisler 300c , Audi rs4 and BMW m5
About the Cars on the Truck:
- What you called a Bentley is a Chrysler 300c SRT8
-The one above that is a Maserati Quattroporte.

I believe the main reason why Europe prefers cab over truck is road regulation. It states that the maximum overall length is 25.25m on some countries. Majority of countries limits it even more to 18.75m. This is measured from nose of the truck to end of the trailer. So longer truck means shorter trailer and less carrying space.
Squirrel, the cars you have on the back of your trailer is as following: Blue is a Maserati. The light grey on the back is a Chrysler. White is a BMW. Green is Jaguar. Red is an Audi, and last but not least you got the darker grey on the front, which is a Cadillac.
i see tons of those on the road today! the shape of that truck is practical and in the US long haul trucks, they have to be there!

That was a problem with using the G27 back in German Truck Simulator, and I think ETS as well.
You'd turn the wheel, but almost no turning power would be applied... Though that happened to me in the vanilla game.
Took a short road trip today (N. Tx, USA), saw a bunch of big rigs and tried to id them to get an idea of what trucks might be in the US version of ETS. Saw one Kenworth, several Peterbilts, a whole bunch of Freightliners and a handful of ... Volvo's?
Also noted that we don't do a whole lot of cab over trucks in the states. apparently the long nose trucks are more comfortable and aerodynamic than cab overs.

München is Munich in German and the I quite like the look of these streamlined trucks with the long hoods (I'm Canadian). I like the Volvo and Kenworth more though. Also the engines are identified with the colour it is. Red is Cummins, Yellow is Caterpillar and Green is a Detroit.

The newest digital HUD Peterbilt has started using is far more visible and functional that the older ones used in this model.
The truck is mostly correct. I've driven truck here in Canada for 7 years. That red engine? Yes, they are red providing they are a Detroit 60 Motor. CAT Engines are pained yellow as well. The hood mirrors are blind spot mirrors (same type of idea at the mirrors that are on the top of the windshield on the normal Man trucks or Scania, or almost every truck in ETS2, hopefully that gives you some more insight into what you're driving there.
the cars on the bottom are : Chrysler 300c SRT 8, AUdi A4, and BMW 3 series. On top the grey one is Cadillac CTS
Also Peterbilt and Kenworth being pretty much the same company, they really like putting chrome or brushed aluminum on their trucks.

The truck will not turn if you go blasting into the turn, basic truck turning tells you to slow down BEFORE the turn and give it little power through the turn as you will be fighting the sideways friction from the tires. If you'd drive like that in real life you'd spend a lot of money on steer axle tires as they would be destroyed very rapidly.

I've been really getting into Squirrel's Euro Truck videos lately, and I've continued to play ETS 2 on a regular basis without really understanding why I keep playing. I think I'm in the same boat as Squirrel. I could imagine that I would love being a truck driver. However, I have no intention of being a truck driver because I don't want to live that lifestyle. I don't want to be away from home all the time on the road.
Yes, he has commented several times that he leaves his high beams on because otherwise it would be hard for us to see, but that means oncoming traffic keeps flashing their lights at him.
Also I'm in the ATC and get to go aerobatic flying, normal flying and gliding. The flying is just in small two seater tutors but is still really fun.

Squirrel, you should give one of your trucks a good amount of BHP sometime its really easy take this truck as an example all you do is right click the scs file hover over 7zip and open the archive then click def>vehicle>truck>scania>engine highlight any file and press F4 to edit then enter the BHP you want also correct the KW and torque values, you can change the price aswell. For a Scania truck download a engine for the truck then simply mod the engine file. enjoy the power!

Actually, Microsoft Train Simulator has, although being an old game, a huge mod community. They're not that active anymore, but there's enough content to drive through half the world in 3/4 of all the trains available IRL.
it is one of the most popular peterbuilt trucks used today on the road one of my family members that is a truck driver,drives one of those same exact one it is amazing.

we had some Cummins in some freightliners and had a lot of coolant and oil problems with them, also had an owner op with a 2006 Pete and a Cummins... had 2 other 2006 Pete’s with cats and those were some good damn trucks lol.
even tho these vids are old, i use to watch them and your american truck sim and kept hoping my ps4 would get this game. now i have a PC that can run this and even tho i can get it cheap....and i will.... damn those peripherals that make the experience better a pricey lol. but knowing me....i will stash up the money to buy the track ir and a steering wheel to play this game far better than keyboard and mouse.
1 thing i like about the euro trucks is the digital readout for fuel and stuff on american ones i have to look at the fuel gage and sometime im not sure those even work so then i have to look at the router advisor u can turn on and off for fuel lvl

I'm not from Nürnberg, but I've been there once and the churches are actually there, as well as the high-rise. Would have been interesting to see if the famous castle was also put in. :)
One hazard with white vehicles is that they are more difficult to see in a snow storm. This is a serious concern in some areas. Analysis by insurance companies has shown that white vehicles get into more accidents in snow. Since visibility is a problem in this weather anyways it makes a difference.

Squirrel, just so you know a white vehicle is looks much cleaner when dirty than a black one does. Witch clothing its the opposite but white vehicles cover up dust and road dirt very well.

You mentioned the Peterbilt brand, lemme tell ya a little story, Kenworth, is Peters last name, but Peter wanted a few minor design differences between Kenworth and His own design, Majorly the engine hood, and the clutch pedal. Peterbilts... and Kenworths, are essentially the same trucks. The more you know! :D As for how he came up with the logo I have no idea.

Peterbilt was founded by T.A. Peterman. guess that is where the name came. Also, they are manufactured in Denton, Tx, just down the road from me.

The first car which you said looks like a Bentley has a Chrysler badge and a SRT 8 Badge, SRT 8 is dodge so I think the cars are random ones put together.

The hood mirrors are because in real life the trucks are massive there to check the the blind spots for cars next to you the side mirrors are for looking at the trailer an next to the trailer an to check the gauge/color on refer trailers an the wide bubble mirrors below side mirrors are to see everything else around you.... aka a real fellow truck driver
