- Whilst I love my Scania, it's time to hand it over to someone I can trust and move on to pastures new. How about the super-sized Kenworth W900L as used in the film Smokey and the Bandit? Will this thing fit on the tiny European roads? Can I get it on to the Euro Tunnel train? Find out as I drive a Kenworth over to Southampton in the England.

Yes I know this videos old but my granddad has a Kenworth W900L here in Britain, and let me tell you it's the most amazing experience ever.
I love coming back and viewing these videos. I watched these growing up
Yeah. Enjoying rewatching the old vids. They are more 'fun' them his new stuff.
Can't belive this video is nearly 10 years old! I remember downloading this mod in 2013 and how i was so excited to be like Squirrel. We all remember the feeling of trying new trucks and seeing an American Icon! Squirrel started all of our love and our drive for trucks! And for that i thank u!
when it comes to giving way to big trucks
my general rule is: they are bigger therefore they have right of way.
if a truck has a trailer on I always give at least 4 car lengths or more for them to turn safely
I ride with my grandpa all the time in his 18 wheeler and drivers like you are the ones we really to love
Squirrel needs to bring back these kinds of videos!
yes he dose i aggre

people all over the world do not realize it takes a lot longer to stop 80,000 lbs. then it does 4,000 lbs. this is why i believe people need to take a truck driving coarse before they can get their license. so they will stop saying it was the truckers fault for not stopping when they get into an accident because they pulled out in front of him/her. same thing goes for trains, it is not uncommon in the U.S. to see a train with more than 5 locomotives pulling 200+ cars. it takes more than a mile to stop 1 million+ pounds of freight.
Seems like I'm not the only one with common sense...
This statement is so true
i totally agree with you. people do need to realize that. P.S I'm pretty sure it comes with a 800 break engine.
Agreed. I've seen where cars pull out in front of trucks and almost get crushed
The boys are hungry in Southampton, and there's apples in Brussels, and we'll bring it back no matter what it takes.
bah HAHAHAHAHA!
27:00 that exactly how you are supposed to stay in the middle of you lane.
Good Job on the video also
Nostalgia. Fucking nostalgia.
At 25:26 I thought my iPad died!

Kenworth! Big Ol' Murican truck lol. My uncle drove one for years cross country (US). Nice rigs they are.
"going forward is not so bad, but the second you got to turn or reverse..."
American vehicles in a nutshell, lol.
I'm from the U.S. BTW.
Front of that truck looks nice, back looks like the creator got bored of making a truck and left it all blank..
Agreed
He could of done the back edges so they stick out a bit:/

The L in W900L stands for Long Nose because of the long hood configuration, and I know because i am a Class 1 commercial driver in British Columbia, Canada.
I used to drive a W900L for H&R Transport out of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada with a dedicated haul between Calgary and Vancouver, BC. I drive the Coquihalla (Highway Thru Hell) pretty much every day, either going East or West.
Iron Horseman Ur life must be cool? Do you even like your job :D (Being 13 year curious kid :D)
I just like trucks :D
Iron Horseman Watch out we got a bad-ass here. :P
Iron Horseman no the l in w900l is for the chasis
i watched this video on low volume last night so i could fall asleep to it. i fell into a deep sleep almost right away and then the honking at the end woke me up and scared the shit out of me. thanks, squirrel.
I dont think they make the W900 anymore but when I saw this, it reminded me of the time my dad had one of these. My favorite part was looking out at the long nose. Then the other cool part was the step down when you go into the sleeper. This is my favorite truck

I see tons of these when I am on the road I live in the u.s
Kenworths don't have a logo on top of the bonnet unlike a Mack which has a dog. As we in the industry say, "spend the day looking up a dogs bum". Your reference for road positioning is absolutely correct, it is what we use in real life as well as the off side mirror.
I love kenworths, I love to ride with my second cousin in his 379 Pete or my grandpa in our farm’s international pro star. I’m working towards becoming a diesel mechanic like my uncle then gonna get a CDL so I can drive the farm semi during the fall
19:30 i swear that car didnt brake when turning
Then ATS was born
Hi Squirrel,
First of all, great video.
I know truck drivers in Canada, so I can answer your questions with a certain degree of confidence. I know that it takes more than a year to get comfortable with parking a trailer, and that is with a few parking jobs a day (driving locally and not long distance, so more trailers moved at shorter distances). I have been told that some people cannot park properly even after a couple of years driving though, and take their sweet time doing the parking. In exams, the truck driver has 5 minutes to reverse the trailer and park it within 20 cm or so of a dock, which can seem like a long time, but really isn't.
Parking on the off side is very difficult. If you drive a non-sleeper truck, there is a window behind the driver which one can look through, instead of looking at the right mirror, in which of course you would see nothing but your own trailer until truck and trailer get aligned again. Otherwise, a person to guide on the outside is required. Meaningless to say, most of the time truck drivers here park on the driver's side, so that the driver can lean out the window and point the trailer in the right direction while nothing is visible in the mirror.
Just as a side note, not only trucks are bigger in North America, but the trailers are longer than in Europe as well, up to 53'. However, streets are wider and straighter, so it will be interesting to see how a North American Truck sim would turn out.
@ 24:05 that majestic scratches squirrels truck and squirrel rages at that majestic driver...
lol
It feels like it's missing something on the chassis. I don't like it. But that's just my preference
+LucasLegendaryGamer it's a American truck and my favourite truck

Bob McCoy i watched it about 50 times..
Your video are very relaxing and enjoyable to watch! Keep up the good work and I have a tip and I know that I'm not a pro at this game, matter of fact I never played it before but I like it and wish I could anyway, you know when you go to Calalis, and when you are makin te right turn to go into the port, try turning left and then maybe it'll be eaiser to turn into the port to go down the ramp and that way the AI cars don't get in your way when you drive large loads.
Squirrel, I am an American Trucker. The Kenworth W900L model is one of the most desired for owner operators, and one of the most expensive. The "L" at the end stands for "Long Hood." Great vid and love seeing you doing some American trucking over across the pond.
That truck is what we Americans drive
I am getting ready to buy another truck.I'm going to buy the Scania 1000 with a V-8 .very cool truck.i am getting it with tandem steering and tripple drive axels..ussing it for hauling logs and will be pulling 2 trailers.
The Australians also seem to love this truck, as they prefer them as well as Peterbilt, Mack, and the occasional Western Star rigs for their famous road trains.

jaun marntinez and us Aussies love our kennies
We know... you're all massive.
should have left the visor on it it looks bad A
I agree

The visibility would of only been half of what it was with it off :/ so its good for looks but not practically
Before my wife got sick I drove trucks here in the US. I drove two W-900's among many other types. The first had a 13 spd with a 14L 3406 500 hp Cat. The second had a 15L 13 spd C15 550 hp Cat. Both pulled really strong. The King of the Hill Cat was a 16L engine and I THINK it was only built 2 years due to horrendous fuel consumption.
One of my favorite truck mods for ETS2 . This and the Peterbilt 389. Both great mods in respect to the attention to detail. I'm a big fan of American trucks so I appreciate great mods like these.
Squirrel, i have 2 awesome things: I can choose u as a driver picture when creating a new profile on ETS2 and im getting a steering wheel for my b-day on 3 november
yes it comes with a 600 bhp engine (and smaller)...however what your missisng is the 2100 ft lbs of torque...about three times the average european rig
not to mention the twin turbo's
those help too.
twin turbo's were on a few recent years of the 'cat' engine only..in the end they were too much trouble and not vey effective
Justin Bechtel
This was my favorite childhood video thank you for all the memories
wow thats a very detailed model. my good friend has a w900. its a beast rolling on the freeway in the usa
American Muscle. This is why they need USA truck simulator. Great truck too.
In the works as we speak.

For real? I just started playing EuroTruck 2 and I love it, that actually pretty cool to heard that ! I would love to drive Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, and fFreightliner Trucks across America! Usa, Canada
KevinGoldLVL Yep, and information about the game can be found at blog.scssoft.com/ and www.trucksim.org/, and I believe there is a Facebook page as well.
KevinGoldLVL Yeah the same company, that made Euro Truck Sim 2, is working on a game called "American Truck Simulator"
Nascarfan4348 Update: American Truck Simulator is going to be crap.
only 600 hp yes there engine is not as good as a cab over truck
The American trucks use real horsepower while the UK trucks just wanna look strong and powerful
FPSKoda4 I think it has more to do with the fact that the euro trucks have more strict emissions so they don’t feel or sound like they have the power of and American truck
The thing is that the outside of the truck is how it looks in real life. Plain paint is a very common thing and then it will be blinged out with chrome. and those mirrors are very accurate.
believe it or not I saw a huge American style truck traveling at dome speed through a tiny lake district town, I have no idea how it fitted along any Cumbrian roads!
never.....EVER.....ever....... take that sun visor off again
XDDD
Who is watching in 2016

I like how the landing gear magically raises itself and there's no airlines very realistic still looks entertaining
this is almost as good as big rigs: over the road racing! keep up the good work!
somehow i cant drive with 1st person cam but i can drive with 3rd person cam (and im a brony)
Viking bronies drive truck too you know
Viking so what did you asked?
Sutan Bareno You're proving our points and also proving you should not be behind the wheel of a freighter
that's not the point, its hard to see in 1st person view
what does brony mean?
who is watching in jul/aug?
I
The "West Coast" flat mirror is correct. It is used for looking at distances straight back. The convex, for extra sight left or right. I had nose mirrors for backing. You did pretty well for not being used to conventional tractors. It just takes getting used to.
That's what I call a truck;love when you do truck reviews especially this one it was a great time watching keep up the good work Paul :-D
Nice video! I drove a KW W900 for about two years. Was hauling cross country here in the USA. But the company I drove it for went out of business and I got a Volvo to drive at my new company. I like the KW W900.
Thanks for the video!
The moment you said 'food' (at 24:32), I paused the video and grabbed a bag of chips.
I don't know if anyone else has commented yet on this... But I'm amazed at how quickly you picked up on the one thing that we Americans are taught when driving vehicles with large front ends. Even the old 80's model Cadillacs, you used the hood ornament as a marker by driving with it on the right curb/road edge. Well done on getting that one quickly!!!
25:56 lol good video, I've watched two of your videos already totaling an hour and a half ha. Anyways nice work.. very entertaining
Hey squirrel I'm from western Canada. I drive an 07 Kenworth w900L pulling tanker. This model in this video is perfect. Yes they really sound like this and yes they have the turning radius of a whale.
Had to come back and say that I been a fan since 2013 and I love your truck vids I discovered you when I was 13 now I'm 22 and still a fan
I am in love with this truck, I am definitely downloading it when I have another computer that can run ETS2
Love the drive with the apples and wish that you would have played around more in the new truck you purchased like take a napp in that big truck while there it was raining
YOU have to bring these videos back to life there the best i hate to watch other people try and play this game
The "L" in w900L designates "Longer hood"...approximately 16" longer.. I know I drove one for a couple years...yes they are still in production...they are one of the most road worthy trucks out there for hauling the "Interstate" highways here in North America
Mostly right, but it's not 16" longer, it's 10" longer. A standard W900B has a bumper to back of cab length of 120", the W900L stretches that to 130". It also has a hood that slopes down a little, the B has a straight hood, and the L has a slightly narrower grille.
Squirrel, I'm an HGV I driver retired, when I did my test, my boss made my spend four weeks yard shunting which was a good training ground for reversing into tight spots
I would say that all HGV drivers should do this. By the way love the videos. Keep on going.
i remember when my dad took me in a truck like that i loved it.
I think you're funny and good driver. I'm interested in driving trucks simulators but have no experience at all.
thanks dude.
Checking this sim out. This is the first Eurotruck bid I've seen. Always go with the Kenworth. Posting this from my KW sleeper right now. Lay down the hammer and keep trukin.
*vid . Also, does the sim have a seat control? You're sitting too high up. W9 and 379 drivers sit all the way on the floor. Yes, it's disadvantageous but it looks cool; one of those old school things. Also that turbo sounds all wrong.
and the big ass drop visor looked so much more badass than without.
This is the most interesting truck sim ive seen, looks realistic.
That is SOOO authentic!!!! I can recognize that it was a real rig! Idk what real European big rigs look like... But that was american! Its amazing! I'm not a truck driver... But I know one when I see one!
I am from America and if you say hats off for the people who drive trucks like that Kenworth than you would be better off having your hat off at all times because their is a lot of people who drive trucks that are a little bigger than that! And their is a lot of them!
Interesting, from the wikipedia article on the truck: "The engine sizes for the W900 range from 9 liters to 16 liters, and it accommodates up to a 625-horsepower engine."
Nice, looks cool. Great video :)
i owed a w900L with a cat 550hp and eaton 13 speed, L is just the top model, i had a volvo vn770 with a cummins 500hp after that. then my last truck before i retired was a 2012 frightliner cascadia. with a DD 16 650 hp and an eaton straight 10 speed, love these vids.
cant belive this was the first ever euro truck video i ever watched i regret nothing
Great video, one of the best.
It took me 4 weeks to get my commercial driver's license, and after I got a job, it took another 9k miles (about 3 weeks of driving) to actually get comfortable behind the wheel, and that was with a trainer. Then the company provided me with my own truck and it took a bit of getting used to, and I'm still learning things about driving.
Really good stuff Squirrel
It's funny this should get recommended to me today, because I just traded in a W900L Long version (from a more recent mod) for a Scania R730. Also those tiny horns are actually really good, most of my trucks have had them.
here is the US when we back up a Truck like the W900L-long we put the 4 way flashers of that helps by showing us where the trailer is and at night it helps the Driver see what is behind him, and it tells people that we are Backing-up
I wish a had a logitech G27like yours. Nice commentary mate!
Nice truck! And you're driving in Brussel ! Looks reasonably accurate, although I didn't recognise any actual site ;) Anyway, regarding the traffic lights, in Belgium, the red and orange lights never burn at the same time. The change to green does not involve orange in fact, straight from red to green.
I am driving a Kenworth W900B ARI Legacy Sleeper in game and ya it is really hard to drive in Europe. It does bring a challenge which is nice
Ermahgherd the turbo spool sounds so beautiful
you are great man i really like the Kenworth W900l
I drive the peterbelt version of this in real life and and what you see for visibilityis pretty much spot on what you can see, I drive super b grain trailers here in Canada
The first identified road trains operated into South Australia's Flinders Ranges from the Port Augusta area in the mid nineteenth century, according to Basil Fuller in his book, "The Ghan".
I love your vids keep posting them!
I enjoyed the video bud. One complaint about the model of this truck though is that the mirrors on then passenger side are in the wrong position. It probably didnt look right when it was created but theyre a little more in the passenger window and out over the fuel tanks. This way you can see the whole right side of the truck when youre driving.
omg that turbo sounds so good
I saw a Freightliner the other day and it was MASSIVE!!!! Just wanted to say that lol
Nice video.
Love how the american trucks have so big sleepers, compared to our tiny juz-behind-the-seat-beds- here in EU.
Would love to have a KW W900L of my own, pref with air starter - sounds awesome ^^
Smokey and the bandit had a w900a model :)
and L means long hood. There is currently the w900l and the w900b which is the regular length hood.
Nice sim session, however in the custom paint scheme, the color spectrum that comes up, all you have to do is click your mouse where you want your color to be, to include color tone....play with it, you'll see what i'm talking about..
who ever did the model work on this truck did an awesome job
when your switching to hi/lo in each gear you don't need to pull it out of the gear to get to high gear. also you only need to engage the clutch when you are starting from a dead stop. already in real life, I've been driving trucks for years.
the funny part is he was in belgium :P were i live and the problems they got with the traffic jam and trucks are car's rain, are really true, you see this shit every day on the road :D
this kenwoth loooks like a proper beast
Keep doing the Euro Truck videos and adventures.
The AI has been too polite, Then proceeds to say, DON"T you dare scratch my truck, LOL
the 45 miles away from your destination and you can see it on your truck gps is not a bug to correct you but nice video love them
Where I work, we have a peterbilt 359 with a 425 hp Cummins engine. It will pull a kobelco 200 excavator (roughly 15 tons) with no problem. Does it need more hp? No not necessarily but it always helps especially with the hills in Pennsylvania/west Virginia area.
I drive a dump truck in real life myself and I liked the video on the kenworth you did, if you have questions about American trucks I will do my best to help you answer them or if you just want to talk, I live in Georgia in the US
it almost reminds me of space shuttle simulator. with the inside and outside views.. cant wait to try it out
Just to let you know I bought the game and now im addicted to it ..lol
The "L" signifies Long hood. The 900L has a longer hood than the standard 900.
