I think that because there are no guides for the caliper you need to hand tighten them first, and then while applying the brakes torque them up. This is to perferctly align the rotor and caliper/pads.
Baby shampoo and a toothbrush to clean out pistons and calipers. Brake cleaner came about in order to clean preserving grease off discs, not to clean calipers. It attacks seals and makes them crack so unless it's a weak synthetic type I wouldn't use it.
Nice clear vid....... One query , .....Do you think it would be better to spray brake cleaner over the pistons before you push them back into the cylinders , rather than push grubby ones back into the seals ??
Excellent video, very informative. I'm going to have a go at changing the pads on my 2011 speed triple s (non abs). Looks like pretty much the same calipers though.
Hey thanks for the video. I'm trying to find new pads for my street triple rs. Think it has the same front brake setup. Monoblock m80 and all that. What pads did you get?
great videos!! your explanations are very clear. thx i just suscribe! One question though : what kind of product do you use to clean the brakes/pistons ? cheers
+beerforceone thanks. I use "contact cleaner" for everything I work on. I have found some "brake cleaner" eats paint off and is not good for seals/rubber parts.
I know it has been a long time sense you made a video of the Speed Triple but I have a problem with my 2015 Speed Triple R. I have change the brake oil and clean the Brembo brake calipers completely, I even got all the pistons out and clean. The problem is that that I can have the lever pump but after a while the pressure leaves the lever wild I'm riding and I have to pump them before braking about 3 times before they brake like new. I have no idea what the problem is. Is it that the master cylinder is mets up or that the rotors are used too much. The bike have 30,000 miles.
It could be your master cylinder, but I wouldn’t buy one until you know for sure. Watch this video and study it. This will help you determine if you have air in the system. Brake fluid change DIY Triumph Speed Triple R 1050 ruclips.net/video/nbZ7IVzm0Rw/видео.html
Not sure, but it is a craftsman tool. Let me know and I will give you the model number on it (if it has one). I am not home right now. I love it and use it all the time.
August 2024 - great video , all you need to know 👍🏻

What's the hex wrench size to remove the two bolts holding calipers?
Looks the same as my GSXR750 L1. So I will be changing mine this weekend. Thankyou

I don’t know. This bike was a friend of mine. Sorry.
Torque-wrench ? Probably will be ok without it, but I'm a bit picky. Nice video to watch before I change my pads ! Thanks !
+boa1626 yes, having a torque wrench is always better, if you have one.
Thanks for the video ! Changed the pads today. Easy. Used my a torque-wrench at 55 Nm. All ok. :-)

Thanks for sharing! What's the model of the flex round head ratchet you're using? And it's a 1/2 inch?
Not sure, but it is a craftsman tool. Let me know and I will give you the model number on it (if it has one). I am not home right now.
I love it and use it all the time.
motofun I'd like to get that model number when convenient. I got some off brand and would rather have the craftsman
+lmind2 sorry I forgot about your request. I will get the model for you today.
+motofun Item#: 00944816000

Thanks for the info. I ended up buying the telescoping Stanley flex-head for added leverage.
