Hi Cathy, I am 60 years old and have been trying to do yoga for 18 months now. I have felt more pain after yoga most of the time and so, have scaled back dramatically. However, I enjoy yoga and feel emotionally better from it, and the rest of my aging body feels like it needs yoga. Finally, in you I have found a yogi that understands the pain and limitations of hip osteoarthritis. You explained everything so well that I felt the stretch and was able to recognize that discomfort was hip compression when I practiced with the "no pain, no gain" approach. I will be subscribing to your channel, with gratitude. Namaste wise yogi!!!
Thank you so much for this! I’m in my 40s with the beginnings of OA in my right hip and SI but a big fan of yoga. But my hip was just feeling worse after every hot yoga. Have realized I need to not overdo it in the stretching department. Really appreciated you taking the time to do this video.
Hi Cathy just found u today and did half your class found it hard , but it definitely made a difference to me I got up from the floor and was able to touch my toes which I haven’t been able to do for over four years Thank You
Thank you so much for this thoughtful, knowledgeable and very informative sequence. I learned a lot about my painful hip joint, enjoyed the strengthening exercises and felt a lot less alone with my left hip joint pain. Namaste❤❤❤
Hi again Cathy I ended up going to urgent care Tuesday night experiencing excruciating painful Sciatica symptoms. The nurse practioner sent me to get an X Ray which came back showing Hip Osteoarthritis. Thank you for doing this practice designed specifically for my condition. I love when you said being an advanced yoga practioner is about being mindful of your body not folding into a pretzel.
I have hip osteoarthritis and my physic told me I need to keep my hips neutral. So strange? It would mean I can’t do half of this? … not supposed to do pigeon etc. I will try what I can! & Thanks for making a video on this
I really loved the idea of this as I have one artificial hip and another hip which is in the painful and stiff phase of OA. I've done yoga for 30 years so I'm not a novice. Unfortunately I only made it to 23 minutes, as it got progressively too difficult for me to keep up. ! I had to abandon it after trying your sun salutations, I'm afraid you transition much too quickly from one position to another for somebody with hip arthritis, and when you say spring to the front of your mat - well 😂.... that is completely impossible for somebody who has to transition slowly into different positions. I'm afraid this is not suitable for me at all, please do one with slower transitions!
I found this class really helpful; I was just diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis so was looking for a class and good tips. Thank you so much, Cathy!

So wonderful to find this video. My regular yoga teachers are not familiar with yoga for osteoarthritis. Many thanks!
Thank you. I've been having hip compression for weeks. This practice has finally helped open me up. ❤❤❤
Thank you. Bad hip arthritis, lots of pain with internal/external rotation. This was both gentle enough and challenging enough for some deep healing.

Hi Paula, oh no so awful. I’m so sorry to hear you’re suffering with this! Happy to be of service. I hope you get some relief 🙏💗
Great info and Hoping it will help.
Thank you!
Hi , I loved this sequence, glad to have found you 👍, do you have yoga for knee osteoarthritis or injuries please?
Hey Chitra, thanks for your comment lovely. At the moment I’m focusing on hips but will likely to some knee focused classes in the future 🙏💜
@cathy aganoff yoga I'm one of those rebellious energetic young men that takes my shirt off in Yoga class.
Hi, I clicked on the link for the free PDF program and it says that the page couldn't be found. Is this still available?
Unfortunately this was still too painful for me. Any weight through my right leg/hip is agony so the lunge sequence was impossible :(
