I am a 78 year old female with osteoarthritis. I discovered your channel and these exercises several months ago after being told to see an orthopedic surgeon for bone on bone hip arthritis. Following these exercises has enabled me to avoid shots and surgery. I can now sleep on my hip, walk stairs again, and line dance without feeling any pain. Thank you Dr. David. I am truly grateful.

@ Joywanless Im a 68 yr old female. I’ve been diagnosed with left hip osteoarthritis bone on bone. It has been very painful for me to move and on December 18, 2023,. I go for a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon for a hip replacement. I truly do not want to do this. I am starting these exercises gently because I suffer a lot of pain on that area. I am encouraged by what you state here and hope to soon post my gratitude on this site for getting stronger on that hip regenerating Cartlidge on that hip as well as avoiding a hip replacement. Thank you so much for your posting. I am encouraged.

@@dannusmk1578 his exercises have made a tremendous difference in my hip problem. There's a lot to be said for strengthening the glute-muscles to get the hip bone to sit correctly (and no longer endure sharp searing pain!)
I truly hope you are able to find relief through strength-training and are able to avoid surgery! 🙏🏼😇❤️‍🔥

Thank you Dr. David. I’m an Rn and still working at 65. I’ve been having issues for at least 5 years. It started out with noticing difficulty in doing stairs. I’ve always had strong legs and I couldn’t figure out why this was happening. I was told I have advanced degenerative discs and thought that was causing the problem. Then I started having severe groin pain on the right following a right knee replacement and saw an orthopedic doctor. When I described the severity of the groin pain and how it was affecting my ability to do things he laughed. He never said “ oh yes , that’s related to your hip issue”. He determined that I had arthritis in my hip and sent me to physical therapy. I loved my physical therapist, but honestly I didn’t get any relief. Then I when to a chiropractor that when I asked is it a mechanical issue why I was having all this groin pain he actually told me it was trauma related and not mechanical. Honestly I was very confused between my back issues and knee replacement and leg weakness and groin pain I was discouraged. Then I decided to to do a few exercises that I found on RUclips on a daily basis and found some relief and also started to notice that the exercises were starting to get easier and I was improving my flexibility and my stiffness and strength were improving and most of all the groin pain was gone. I have since dropped a good amount of weight and eliminated foods that contribute to inflammation. I’m excited to have found you and the information you provide. I’m certain I was all of stage 2 and probably even a 3, but I’m writing this to let others know there is real truth being provided by Dr. David. Just a side note I do have a chiropractor ( not the one who said my pain was related to trauma) that I see probably once a month to keep me adjusted and she is amazing, but I now know it’s the exercises that I do daily that have benefited me absolutely the most.

ok mate pay attention, this may help someone. After a year and an MRI am sure I have "mild" arthritis in one hip. Caused by standing on one leg and lifting and dropping heel of other leg on a trolley throttle every ten seconds all day. My guess, weakened the glute, strengthened quads and pull it out of align. Your vid taught this.. first time i discovered this in a year of solid hip research. Can walk ...2k before it gets nasty. Front quads were having mind numbing pain on standing, solved by stretching these with foot to glutes and pull foot up,, relaxed quads and immense pain stopped. Still got immense hip pain when standing from sitting,, took a few mins to wriggle foot and hip to take any weight. Started your Glutes exercizes... took one day to improve, madly exercizing them now. ALSO.. the terrible pain on raising from sitting in hip is controlled if I contract glutes hard, ...???? the hip must "slip out" of alignment on sitting and then have to realign on standing, criminal pain. with contracting glutes this seems to pull hip back "in" .. anyhow, will continue and will inform of improvements. Madly eating good oils and fish, and fasting 16 hrs, plus curcumin, glucosamine and chondroiten. OK hope this helps you or someone with such searing quad or hip pain, as pain is enough to see stars. Many thanks, your work seems good as I have become a bit of an expert on all things arthritis and hip leg muscle stretches, strength and alignment. Yours worked literally in a few days.. more power and much love.

I wonder why they did not show me these exercises… the windshield wiper exercise is very effective for me. Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!!! I have bone on bone hip arthritis and, predictably, I've been offered steroid injections or full hip replacement. I'd prefer neither. My husband found your video which explained how to squeeze the glutes and what happens when you walk. I went around for 2 days doing glute squeezes all day long...while I was sitting at the computer, laying down watching TV, or just walking around. It was amazing how much stronger my hip became and I'm now walking almost without a limp. I can also step sideways without fear of falling. 2 days! I will try the rest of these exercises and hope that they will help me to regain some of the range of motion loss. At the very least they are helping me to walk normally again. Thank you for your thorough videos.

Dear Sir, I could not believe strengthening the glutes would improve my walking, which had become quite bad because of bone-on-bone hip arthritis. But I did your exercises anyway, because I had nothing to loose. I did not stop the other leg-exercises I had been prescribed for a sore knee. I just systematically added the glutes-exercises and the windshield wipers. Now, after a few months, I cannot believe I am walking better than before...but I can no longer deny that I do! So thank you very much!! Who knows I may even escape from the hip- operation! I still have 'starter-stiffness', which usually disappears after a few minutes, but that is nothing compared to being barely able to walk!

    Dr. Middaugh,
My hubby Bill, had a titanium hip replacement (right hip) we went to Colorado to have our surgeries his surgery took 50 minutes, Dr. Kindsfater said he was a tough case & should have had the surgery done 2 years earlier he had to lengthen his leg as well. He also has had 3 knee surgeries, so he has huge scars where they did his surgeries. He hass knee pain too, I've been having knee pain as well.
His surgery was done first as I had to apply the TED hose every morning for 2 weeks. The last day my pain in my one wrist was so bad I looked at him & told him I couldn't do it I was crying.
The following day I went to my surgeon for counseling & that's when my surgeon noticed I had a nerve ganglion on my other wrist (I had double wrist surgeries- nerve ganglions in both & done on the same day) I'm 66 years young.
Bill's now having trouble with his left hip, & YT sent me your video on bone on bone hip pain video and I told Bill about the clam exercise & we watched this video next. He was doing the wrong exercises & we watched this video together & now he knows what exercises to do & what ones to avoid. Bill's 82 years young, but his left hip has been popping like popped corn & has me concerned.
Thank you, you have a paired subscription 👍🥰❣
We live on a sailboat, so there's constant motion. We only notice the motion when it's gusty & during tidal changes.
Once we get an exercise routein for Bill, I'll look to see if you have some exercises I can do for the pain in my wrists. I have a difficult time with lateral loads & it's something I'm unable to stop as I do all the cooking (fresh- no microwave on board by choice) hand wash dishes & hand wash clothes sometimes & hang them out to dry.
Thank you do much for sharing your knowledge with us.
Much more appreciated than you could possibly know.
    🤗 🙆‍♀️ & 🙆‍♂️❣

My leaving the house had become less and less due to severe pain from osteoarthritis in the hips and left knee. So I did these exercises last night. When I woke up the next morning I noticed something strange. There was no pain. I couldn't believe it. I was so used to pain that I literally became shocked that I had no pain. This is the first time that I've experienced no pain in years. I first thank God then I thank Dr. Middaugh for helping people feel normal again.

Thank you Dr. David, you have no idea how some of your videos helped me heal slowly, but gradually for the last two months.
I started having pain in my right hip joint in the upper front part of the flexor area, a situation has reached where I am limping when walking and cannot walk more than 100 meters.
An x-ray showed that I have cartilage erosion in both joints but mainly in the painful right joint.
I followed your RUclips channel and did some of your exercise for hip joints,
Now two months later the joint pain is slowly starting to disappear, and so is the limp!
    Thank you

I lost feeling in my leg altogether to begin with. Then, once the feeling came bck several days later; the pain was abnormal. My brain now doesn't associate with movement spontaneously. Crazy pain tht bone on bone. Now i wake up suffocating..sleep apnea. Think I've had so much trauma, I'm shutting off from life altogether.. double vision the lot!! Great to listen to you dear. NHS UK leaves a lot to be desired!!

I discovered you after a frustrating visit to my PCP. I've been in PT for my left shoulder and thigh for many weeks. The left hip has gotten worse, and the right has joined the party. My PT recommended nearly all of the exercises from your other video (the ones NOT to do), so I will try these and hopefully get some relief.

I love you! Such simple advice that hit the nail on the head for someone that’s been restricted by hip issues for nearly 8 years… I was given the clamshell and various leg lifting exercises after an arthroscopy operation, and I couldn’t understand why I never did them! I was cross with myself, as I knew the importance, Your breakdown and simplification of these exercises revealed to me. They were simply too hard to do straight off the bat - the warmup exercises and the simplification of the clam and the detailed instruction has been absolutely brilliant. A real game changer, I’m so grateful to you! I know this is going to help me… I cannot understand why the UK NHS, and all the physios that I met afterwards to help me rehabilitate, did not give me the same advice - less is more - Thank you so much keep up the good work🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏✋👊👏

I have been doing these exercises (and much more) for months now, and my range of motion is almost back to normal. I still have some pain and some groin pinches, but not enough to slow me down appreciably. I still can't figure out what my groin has to do with it. It was the first pain I had, and seems to be the last to go. What gives? Thank you for your continuing help for all of us. Jane

I'm so glad i found your channel. I was diagnosed with hip (left) bursitis and osteoarthritis. I also have weak meniscus joints (not sure if that's the right term), more on my left knee. My kneecaps will slide out of place if i take a wrong step or hit the side of my kneecap; that has held me back or fearful of strenuous exercises. I just watched the video on what exercises to avoid and now this video on what exercises you recommend. I'm starting today! Perhaps you have a video to help with my meniscus? Thanks for sharing your knowledge and i wish you continued success. I'll definitely be sharing your videos with family and friends.

thank you for the preventive health videos.. I'm just now starting to notice a tightening of upper leg muscles on my leftside.. I feel it when I try to walk any distance for exercise. I'm trying to get back into shape for a trip to the mountains.. I used to climb quite a bit. It's seems like in the last year or so I've lost stamina.. especially after getting the Moderna vaccine.. but I've also just turned 65 so possibly a combination.

I have knee arthritis, torn meniscus and hip arthritis :o Your knee exercises have helped with my knee and I didn't need to get surgery for the meniscus. Thank you so much! I just started working on the hip exercises. I will incorporate these daily until I can walk without pain. Do you have other exercises for after this one? I see all of your hip videos but not sure what I should implement next. I wish I lived near your facility so I could come see you.
