    Thanks, I never would have found those bolts holding up the back of the front seat. Great instructions. I put in Tahoe seats in my GMC 2006 Truck.

    Is there a video available on how to replace the retractor and upper belt of the seat belts on these front seats?? Need to find and soon!

    • @oemcarandtruckseats
      @oemcarandtruckseats  2 года назад

      Hi Michele, the seatbelt comes down from the shoulder area vertically towards the bottom of the leanback. First you will want your leanback removed from the seat (see video). At the bottom of the leanback there's a single bolt holding it in, undo that. That bolt may need heated to release, we recommend that as we have seen the welded on nut break off destroying the frame. After that's done you have to remove the leather entirely (and the arm rest) and you'll see the second spot it's bolted to, which is the shoulder hump itself. Once those two bolts are out it's free. I 100% recommend having an upholsterer do this job if possible, it's a bit of a pain if it's your first time doing it.

      @@oemcarandtruckseats Yes, the belt and retractor is right in the shoulder of the seat. There is a plastic square around the opening. Maybe this would pop off. Only the bottom part of the seat belt which goes across your middle is attach to the bottom of the seat.

    • @oemcarandtruckseats
      @oemcarandtruckseats  2 года назад

      @@michelehoffman3285 The plastic square is sometimes screwed in. The trim-colored plastic bezel that goes around the belt itself pops off by pulling directly forwards. Once the black plastic that actually makes the shape is moved you should see the final bolt.

    Great video! I am trying to swap out the passenger seat on my 2000 gmc sierra slt due to a damaged seatbelt. I bought a seat, an exact match, (almost) out of a 2005 Tahoe. The only thing that's different is the plug that hooks to my truck. The one in the truck is much smaller that what's on the seat. I would really like to have all the functions if at all possible so splicing would be my last result. Not really sure what to do. I was thinking about taking the back off of the new seat and putting it with the base of the original seat. Not sure it' s going to work but seems a lot safer than cutting wires. Any ideas anyone?

      watch about the first 7 mins of this. it's pretty involved and if you want to install leather this would be the best time to do it.

    Do you replace the non leather fabric seats as well as the leather ones? I have a 2003 Tahoe, and my seat is sunken in. I was wondering how to replace the sponge or the whole bottom seat. They are electric seats. Nice Tahoe with rims too, it's just the seat. I'm 23 living in Houston, and that's not what's up. Lol. Not comfortable at all, and I do drive everywhere and everyone.

    • @oemcarandtruckseats
      @oemcarandtruckseats  7 лет назад +1

      Normally what causes them to sink is a spring breaking (most common) or a weld in the corner of the pan breaking (somewhat common). Either way you'd be in for a new pan, and new foam. Install is actually pretty easy, just two 13mm nuts and a bit of time. The material is held on with velcro so it's easy to move over.
      I'm out of the cloth seats right now. Shoot us a message at info@oemcarandtruckseats.com and I'll see if I can get all the parts for you so you can be comfortable again. Thanks. -Keith

    01 Deville. I need to swap out driver seatbelt. It’s very dirty and no I’m not going to even try to clean it.

    • @oemcarandtruckseats
      @oemcarandtruckseats  6 лет назад +1

      We don't carry them unfortunately. They're going to be hard to find in good shape. Your best bet would be to pull it as far out of the vehicle as possible, close the door, and then hit it with a pressure washer. put a zip tie on it so it doesn't wind up and let it air dry for about 24 hours. Changing the belts is a real pain in those seats.

      Thank you for getting back with me. That is a great idea and I can do that.

    • @blackericdenice

      Thank you very much. I use vise grips to keep the belts out and use tire cleaner and high pressure water to clean them. I think the previous owner. Spill beer on them because I smelled beer while cleaning them. The belt is almost flat again and it retract back into the base much better.

      javie4vr any luck with the fix? after the years mines doing it. im thinking a cracked bushing or loose bolts in the upright leg.

    • @oemcarandtruckseats
      @oemcarandtruckseats  7 лет назад

      If the play is more on the inner side there's a bushing around the bolt that may have cracked. When that goes it goes from no wobble to alot very quickly. You can check that by popping your inner trim off (takes 1 second) and seeing if the bolt has the casing around it. Some didn't have casings, they used a separate plastic insert. Either way you'll be able to tell pretty quickly if that's it. It's often the culprit.
      If the play is more on the outer side the problem is likely within the mechanism itself, that thing is very complicated and I don't know off the top of my head what you'd be in for trying to fix it. It would likely be a bushing as well though, just slightly more difficult to access.

    • @krkbar

      Remove the leather from the foam (you may have to pull the arm rest) and then undo the 18mm at the bottom of the seatbelt assembly and the 18mm at the top. The bottom one will likely be seized so have a torch ready. If you overdo it with torque you can actually break the frame.
