Thank you this video helped me out. a few of the other videos required me to take out the seat or remove a few bolts from the seat to give enough room.. But your video was a whole lot easier. it worked on my 2008 Chevy Silverado
You rock "Your Car Guy"! Had a very similar issue with my 2007 Surburban belt latch. Took me a whopping 10 minutes to replace it. The worse part was getting the connector off the wiring harness however following your explination I had it off in a few minutes. And my wife wanted to bring it to the dealer.. LOL..Thanks
2011 Yukon: Driver side buckle would not latch; tried cleaning and lubing with silicone spray, no fix. I was totally unable to get the wire harness unlatched, as working totally blind, what a ridiculous piece of "engineering". Harness could've been engineered/manufactured to have the disconnect near the part near the attaching hole. Anyway, found that if Mrs. Cusser could insert the metal latch then push the red release button about 1/8" down, then the buckle would catch as it should. Thanks, GM !!!!
Could you tell me how to change the actual belt portion too? My husband cut the seatbelt when the latch failed because my son couldn’t get out of the seatbelt when it did fail
This video was for a 2007 to 2013. My neighbor has a 2004 Suburban and she had the same problem, but it was on the passenger side. The bolt that holds the seatbelt was not 15 mm, it was some kind of star head or a torques. I would up using a quarter inch drive ratchet with a quarter inch socket and a bit that fit inside the socket. That worked fine until I got the bolt half way out and the ratchet pressed up against the center console. Had to turn the bolt back in so I could get the ratchet out .....than I used a quarter inch (ignition wrench) to get the bolt out. Took me about an hour, but that included the time we had to move all the stuff in the back seat, so I could move the seat all the way to the rear position.
Unfortunately, my dealership said not able to order me replacement driver side seatbelt latch. Car too old. 2005 Envoy. You can not switch with one of the backseat ones correct? I see them avail on Ebay from on line dismantlers. Is that a prob? Not sure what else to do. Frustrated!
My son put a Ford seatbelt extender in my 2001 GMC Yukon drivers side seatbelt latch. Can you tell me how to get it out or how to get the seatbelt latch off to replace?
I have to change the latch on my dodge Dakota and we're having trouble. Some people are saying we have to take the whole seat off to do it. Does anyone have any advice?
Ross R. To remove the seatbelt you will want to remove the interior side panel that covers the seatbelt. It is a fairly simple repair once you have the panel off.
Are the driver side and passenger side technically interchangeable? The passengers side buckles are way more expensive than the driver's side just wondering if I could purchase a driver side one and it would work? Don't care if the button is on the wrong side
It may work for either side. Best way to tell is remove your existing ones and see if it will work. Most likely the indexing holes will be the only difference.
Thank you. $30 and saved a repair cost. Needed my wife’s smaller hands for the sensor disconnect and reconnect, but otherwise worked great.

Took 10 minutes tops to replace my belt receiver. Most of the time was spent trying to reconnect the electrical connection.

What’s up with the audio going out?
Could you tell me how to change the actual belt portion too? My husband cut the seatbelt when the latch failed because my son couldn’t get out of the seatbelt when it did fail
To change the belt you will have to pull the plastic cover off the pillar, then you will have access to the belt. It is bolted in.

My son put a Ford seatbelt extender in my 2001 GMC Yukon drivers side seatbelt latch. Can you tell me how to get it out or how to get the seatbelt latch off to replace?
Christina Gulley is the extender in the latch side or the belt side?

Thank you for subscribing. I purchased it online from a GM dealer.

Angel 72001 usually they can be changed without removing the seat. However the seats are very easy to remove.
Any idea how to remove/replace the seatbelt itself?

I ordered from a GM dealer online.
Never had this problem until I bought a Gmc. Never had a truck with such horrible quality.
I think it is better to take the seat out.
