Same got a 2007 Yukon Denali XL 6.2L 190k on stock engine bought the afm/dod disabler for right after I bought it and I bought it with 110k and no engine problems so far.
Lol....I've had all those issues, except the door handles on my 09 slt....but I can't complain. It's been a great vehicle. Still going strong at 218K....
You forgot the biggest problem with this model - the arm rest where you grab the door to open and close it -( not the silver unlock handle) has the support plastic parts inside break up causing the handle to feel like it's empty after the plastic pieces fall out and along with all the door trim pieces. This happens mostly on the drivers side - most used. GMC should have used strips of metal for support instead of strips of white plastic.
I’ve also got a 14 Yukon XL XLT. I bought it in November of 2014 at a large out of state GMC Dealership, brand new. I cant complain about it but I did have to replace the passenger side front wheel spindle at 51,000 miles. I don’t mind the gasoline because it’s the 329 / 5.3 with the 6 speed automatic transmission. I have oil and filter changed every 5500 miles. I still prefer to use 5w-30 Full Synthetic oil. I believe the mileage is under 70,000. All but one warranty has expired. I have always had a Tahoe XL or Burb. I don’t mind the fact that I got the last of the Gen 7 Yukon Bodies because it saved me around 12 Grand over the highest popular Yukon XL bodies, the 2015. However, the exterior design is only part of the post 2014 Yukon and Burbs. The interior is highly technical and is a huge change from any prior year design changes. All electronic including built in Bluetooth and actual WiFi for the 7-8 passengers it can accommodate with leather high back seats. Far better ride on long trips than any sedan made today. I enjoyed this and all your videos.
Like others have said, afm lifters was my biggest problem. Ended up getting new engine at 130k due to this on 2012 Denali. Afm disable or delete, is worth it.
The DoD/AFM delete kit (Non-DoD Cam, Non-DoD Lifters, Valve Springs, etc) is the ONLY way to go if you want to correctly fix & prevent valve train failure. The whole "disabling AFM" is a misconceived solution that I hear suggested far too often for comfort; These engines are still equipped with the problematic DoD Lifters that are prone to collapsing. Disabling the AFM parameters doesn't fix poorly designed DoD lifters, nor does it prevent failure in any way. The lifters just suck.
I have had my 08 yukon denali XL for about 6 months now, i have had the last 3 since. Rear door handle isnt attached, front driver side wheel bearing, and the door latch is a little weird when cold! Great Video!!
Great video. I have a 2011 Yukon and when I get out of the vehicle and leave my keys in the ignition, I’ll walk a few feet and I’ll hear the beep as the doors lock. Service Department at GM says I must be hitting the lock on the way out but I know that’s not the case. Have you ever heard of this?
@@mercedesbenzs600bash , nope, got over 30K on her since we got it. Fuel pump was the only "big" thing. But it went in my driveway, so repair was done right there by me for the cost of a pump, about 3 bills.

Clean screen? #9 electrical surge(lighting). #10 differential leaks. Where's the fill and drain hole? Great video!! Love to see these others added to the collection.
Tire pressure thing is all newer vehicles. Batteries in the tire sensors last 7 or 8 years and are not replacable. You and me need all new sensors. sucks but it sucks for everyone.
@Melissa Cerna did you do the tire pressure relearn procedure after tpms replacement? If not the lights will not go away and it's really easy to do only takes 5 to 10 minutes and you can do it yourself if you have an air pump.
My truck is the 2011 year model and so far the only issue I've experienced is the steering position sensor has failed and the chrome on the inner door release has started to stripe off . I've experienced none of the other problems explained in this video. Over all a very reliable truck
DON'T forget about the oil PRESSUE switch! my 2014 went out my sisters 09 also! I also know of others who've had this issue, very common with this model yrs.
Ironic.. I went out and test drove an '11 the other day, and it ran as smooth as silk. Bought it, got 10 miles from the dealer, and the oil pressure dropped to 0. Turned around, and they're currently fixing it at the shop (they're footing the bill, thankfully, and delivering it when finished.)
Luckily my 2009 Yukon hasn’t had any of these issues, having more of a TPMS issue. Replaced the tires and sensors just yesterday, still have an issue. But I’m glad I know what to look for!
Forgot the worst one...Snowflake ❄️ light blinking Usually a ambient temp sensor 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️. Worst to me atleast because I live in FL 🥵🥵. Other than that love my 4x4 Yukon 225,000 miles strong 💪🏼
Did away with the afm on my Yukon to the tune of 3 grand as soon as the warranty ran out, solved several drivability issues and only lost about 1/2 mile per gallon. Totally worth what I spent.
I have had my truck for about 8 years without major issue. I bought it used from a dealership in Florida. I think it had maybe 80K miles or so but the point is we're well into the 250s I've had the maintenance done on this truck thankfully other than a rear gasket and a handful of other little things done over the years. I've not had real "problems" with this truck. The truth is with the prices the way that they are especially for a brand new Tahoe I will keep what I have.
When you were showing the inside and outside door handle issue you skipped over #6 but I heard it.. the front driver and passenger door hinge sag that turns into a metal on metal grinding/pop noise.
2 that you may also want to include are 1. the Plastic dash top cracks in various places cuz GM used cheap materials , in which case I reccomend a dash skin overlay 2. The Oil pressure sensor which is located on the top rear of the engine (Note Highly recommended you replace this part with an authentic GM part from GM ( NOT after market brand )
2011 GMC Yukon 5.3, cluster all lights up, if the small Little line under the prndl does not light up the transmission will not engage. Does not do it all the time. When it happens a little wiggling on the shifter the light will turn on and everything works great.
This video should be most common easy problems to fix with this generation. More relevant issues would have been the on going quick disconnect heater core hoses. That always crack and leak and O2 sensors
great video...my 2008 Yukon Denali SUV 100,000 miles... still looks and drives really well.....just started to stutter at start and all 4 tires have slow leaks..I was told tires are good but wheels aren't forming a good seal and typical for this year........? true
The door lock issue on mine- whatever doors are baking in the sun won't unlock. I guess the plastic barriers heat up and attach to the actuator? They always start working again after it cools off. Also, the motor mounts, paint peeling on the exterior door handles, AC button paint wears off.. hmm what else? haha I love my Yukon tho. It's loaded and runs great (knock on wood)
The peeling white paint, the auto start working only part of the time, the stereo face plastic deteriorating, the bad side to side when turning into a steep incline, the dash cracking
LOL... I just cut 2 fingers on the front pax door handle (chrome delamination) YESTERDAY! Yes, before I watched this video. Quick fix... Utility knife and cut down the delamination - will need to use 400 GRT sandpaper to smooth it all out WX permitting. BTW, on my wife's Yukon (2011) when she moves her set, the R/H mirror goes up and out MAX each and every time! Could be a number 6 issue to look into.
it depends, the volvo has a smaller displacement. I have the Yukon XL with the 6.2 liter and i average 13.9 mpg. Regardless, the yukon will run a lot longer and has more power. Highly reccomend the yukon.
I have an 07 with 314k on it, still runs like new. Only major issue I have had is the front passenger sway bar mount rusting of off the frame where it's welded on twice, this is due to a bad design of the mount (it's like a bowl in top) and multiplied by the fact the ac drain drops right into it. Luckily the replacement part it's only 20 bucks from the dealership and any good body shop can have the new one welded on in under an hour.
I had the evap with a clogged vent tub from the tank from the charcoal pellets. ($1500 dealer), I have replaced 3 of my door lock actuators, not mentions is the power window switches from the back seat position, I replaced two of those. He left off that the stock headlights are scary bad.
Thanks, I came out to start mine 6.2l Yukon and its knocking like crazy, all fluids are full no engine light BUT oil pressure is very low just below 40. What could it be. it only has 88,000 and the oil is just as clean as when I bought it and never had to add oil to it. Whats your thoughts?
just bought an 09 yukon and went to put gas in it for first time and pump keeps shutting off. not even getting evap codes but seems a sure thing vent valve is shot. gunna do the canister and purge solienoid too for good measure.
Hello Fellas!! What's your thoughts on My 2008 yukon denali is making som explosions , I already changed ignition wire harness. Honestly ' the super annoying STABILITRAK light on dash should be # 1 with no excuses. & to fix it = replace the steering position sensor- about 80dls but some pain in the neck to replace it
I have a couple of different issues with my 2007 and wondered if you have any solutions. #1. I bought it without TPMS sensors on the wheels. Have driven it over a year with no problems just reads 0.0 on the computer tire pressure monitor. Recently I installed a second battery and a battery kill switch but after that the "Service TPMS" indicator showed up on the computer and my key fob completely stopped working. Mechanic tried to run a diagnostic but the system would not even communicate with his diagnostic computer. I was told to try to just reprogram the key fob but the system won't even let me and it also won't let me attempt to reset the TPMS. Any suggestions? #2 I have a vibration at around 70mph. Was told that it may just be the tire balance. Had them rotated and balanced but still has a vibration. #3 I too got the check engine code for the evape sensor but we replaced that and we still have that code. And another thing I should mention is, there is a symptom of the evap sensor. When pumping gas, it continually stops pumping and it's a fight to fill the tank. Can you help with any of these things???
Do you have a video on how to change out the evap vent valve? Tried filling up this week, my 07 Yukon Denali, and it takes 15 minutes or better for a half a tank.
I have a 2010 Yukon Denali Hybrid and I haven't had any of these issues.... Yet. Lol! I've had mine 3.5 years and I've replaced my front struts, the oil pressure sensor twice, the rear main seal and oil pan and the hybrid battery. The week that they were coming to replace my Hybrid battery, my 4 wheel drive, traction control and stability trac lights came on. My mechanic said my 4 wheel drive motor is shot. I live in Michigan, so it's not super important now, but will need replaced in the fall. And my rear struts are now shot... It's one thing after another and nothing is cheap! Oh and when hooked up to a blue driver, it says there's something up with my electric braking system. I love my yukon but I'm about at my wits end and my bank account is running low.... It has 153,000 miles.
@@SaraRodriguez-gr8wj yes I use auto stop. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to disable it, if you even can. But it took some time to get used to the delay when you push the gas.
A wheel bearing failing seems to be the most serious, because correct me if I'm wrong, if it fails while you're driving, won't the wheel(or wheels) fall off?!?
no a failed wheel bearing is more akin to a locked up brake. it essentially binds up that wheel. if it is a drive axle it will kill a CV joint very quickly. Whenever I replace a cv axle I do wheel bearings too since you already have the knuckle pretty well off (on fwd cars) it can cause a wheel to wobble which also can damage steering/break systems as well as your tires. but I suppose if you drove on it long enough and it caused enough damage to the axle and steering knuckle by wobbling around it could fatigue the metal and cause a catastrophic failure, and you end up on a 'customer states' compilation. this is why I make it a point to drive my wifes car at least once a month.
Ya the door hinges too like in this video also the stabilitrak is crack wack bs. Rusty crusty if salts around also weak ads paint adhesion my 08 needs 5k in paint ez going to raptor liner it doe. Foos
Good luck with wheel bearings. The axle nut is a pain. Had to heat it with torch. The problem I’m having now is when I’m stopping it’s not idling right and cutting off.

What about the stabilitrak that is big on 2011 Chev , Cadi , and GMC 1500 series
Yea mine says this but idk how to fix it
2011 GMC Yukon 5.3, cluster all lights up, if the small Little line under the prndl does not light up the transmission will not engage. Does not do it all the time. When it happens a little wiggling on the shifter the light will turn on and everything works great.
This video should be most common easy problems to fix with this generation. More relevant issues would have been the on going quick disconnect heater core hoses. That always crack and leak and O2 sensors
I think all GM's have problem with EVAP Vent Valve, and Throttle Body
yep my silverado twice 2005
great video...my 2008 Yukon Denali SUV 100,000 miles... still looks and drives really well.....just started to stutter at start and all 4 tires have slow leaks..I was told tires are good but wheels aren't forming a good seal and typical for this year........? true
My 2008 does the same constantly putting air in tires
The door lock issue on mine- whatever doors are baking in the sun won't unlock. I guess the plastic barriers heat up and attach to the actuator? They always start working again after it cools off. Also, the motor mounts, paint peeling on the exterior door handles, AC button paint wears off.. hmm what else? haha I love my Yukon tho. It's loaded and runs great (knock on wood)
One more thing you forgot the motor mounts buddy
Exactly I changed 1 the other is bad now
The peeling white paint, the auto start working only part of the time, the stereo face plastic deteriorating, the bad side to side when turning into a steep incline, the dash cracking
The dash is a huge one
The fact that it has no major issues is crazy I got a 2010 denali yukon flex fuel
So true! Thanks for a perfect factual video
Engine Transmission Evap system Fuel system and Transfer Case
+شيبوب ميكانيك Thanks for the feedback!
Jus changed my transfer case and rear end on my 2008 Yukon denali xl

Door Handles, keep breaking replacement more then 3 times already. I hate it.
Which has a better gas mileage between this car and the Volvo XC90 V8?
Which gives less issues between this and the XC90 V8?
it depends, the volvo has a smaller displacement. I have the Yukon XL with the 6.2 liter and i average 13.9 mpg. Regardless, the yukon will run a lot longer and has more power. Highly reccomend the yukon.
Add the rear main seal and that’s a wrap
Enjoyed the vehicle! Nice short video.
Door handle is only problem from the list, I just scraped the chrome off for a temp fix.
+Matt Carrasquillo Thanks for the feedback!
Looks like same old problems different year. Way to go Detroit! Keep pushing out gems. May not be bailout next time.
Still good trucks despite these issues; or am I wrong? Prospective buyer wants to know
I got an 13' Yukon Denali with 253k+ its been holdin up pretty good.
2011 still going beautifully
I have an 07 with 314k on it, still runs like new. Only major issue I have had is the front passenger sway bar mount rusting of off the frame where it's welded on twice, this is due to a bad design of the mount (it's like a bowl in top) and multiplied by the fact the ac drain drops right into it. Luckily the replacement part it's only 20 bucks from the dealership and any good body shop can have the new one welded on in under an hour.
I’m currently looking to purchase a Yukon or Tahoe 2007-2010 any suggestions or things I should know before buying

I had the evap with a clogged vent tub from the tank from the charcoal pellets. ($1500 dealer), I have replaced 3 of my door lock actuators, not mentions is the power window switches from the back seat position, I replaced two of those. He left off that the stock headlights are scary bad.
The AFM/DOD not making this list offends me.
The 6.2 variant doesnt have them only 5.3
Yup,bang on. Mine to
Do you know how to fix the wedge of the motor of the motor of the running board my car is Yukon 2014

The squeaky doors! I have it on both the left and right lol
just bought an 09 yukon and went to put gas in it for first time and pump keeps shutting off. not even getting evap codes but seems a sure thing vent valve is shot. gunna do the canister and purge solienoid too for good measure.

Rear differential for me. 2008 Denali. 💪🏿
Door handles are the most kick in the ass. Maybe replace them more than 3 times now
I haven’t had those problems yet but man I tell you what I can’t keep the stickers for the ac and heater to stay on. Those things run off so quick.
my door handle plastic broke, so I glued it back into place and pull on the right (correct) area of the handle from now on.
Honestly ' the super annoying STABILITRAK light on dash should be # 1 with no excuses. & to fix it = replace the steering position sensor- about 80dls but some pain in the neck to replace it
Build them cheap but sale them for a lot. I miss the older cars
+The Truth We're always cycling through common cars. We'll add this repair to our list! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I got a 2012 Yukon my dash shows its in drive with shifter in park . wont start with key but will by jumping the starter.. neutral saftey switch?
Definitely cut my finger on the inside door handle 😂 07 Suburban 2500
Don’t forget the armrest breaks inside...alot
Do you hse auto stop ? I hate it if have it did turn off ? I have 08 Yukon hybrid
@@SaraRodriguez-gr8wj yes I use auto stop. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to disable it, if you even can. But it took some time to get used to the delay when you push the gas.
Hi, how can I program new key fobs on a 2013 Yukon Denali 6.2L
Misfire when going up a hill and sometimes while idling in gear but the check engine light never comes on. Any suggestions?
A wheel bearing failing seems to be the most serious, because correct me if I'm wrong, if it fails while you're driving, won't the wheel(or wheels) fall off?!?
no a failed wheel bearing is more akin to a locked up brake. it essentially binds up that wheel. if it is a drive axle it will kill a CV joint very quickly. Whenever I replace a cv axle I do wheel bearings too since you already have the knuckle pretty well off (on fwd cars)
it can cause a wheel to wobble which also can damage steering/break systems as well as your tires. but I suppose if you drove on it long enough and it caused enough damage to the axle and steering knuckle by wobbling around it could fatigue the metal and cause a catastrophic failure, and you end up on a 'customer states' compilation.
this is why I make it a point to drive my wifes car at least once a month.
Guess I'll stick with my 05
Spot on!
What about the 70-75 mph shake that no one seems to be able to diagnose?
Ya the door hinges too like in this video also the stabilitrak is crack wack bs. Rusty crusty if salts around also weak ads paint adhesion my 08 needs 5k in paint ez going to raptor liner it doe. Foos
Good luck with wheel bearings. The axle nut is a pain. Had to heat it with torch. The problem I’m having now is when I’m stopping it’s not idling right and cutting off.
Yukon 2009 no misfire when it rains out ?
We are having big problems with our 2010 GMC Yukon, cracked 2 flywheels and the bolts keep backing out??
Is 205k a lot of miles on these with the 6.2l found one for 6.5k?
Another Great Video... and at the end you said: if you enjoyed this Vehicle please subscribe... ??? so funny,,,
Is it safe to buy a third gen Yukon/Tahoe with over 200k miles. In the market for a high mileage SUV (Pathfinder, Xterra, Tahoe) cause I don't have to pay the Toyota tax
