I used to work as an IT manager at Narricot Industries in Virginia where they made seat belts. There is a testing room where they stretch the seat belts to maximum, and when they break, I jump every time (not used to being in there all day like the others). They test stretch these things to 10,000 pounds! That's right! You can tow a vehicle with these! I did! The weaving machines that make these will run about 5 to 6 inches a minute (more or less). This technique of weaving is called "narrow cloth" (cloth weaving for clothing is called "broad cloth" for reference). They also make tie down straps and parachute straps.
Great job Matt. Little tip--to find out which color you have, pop your headrest off, flip it over and pop the plastic tab open. There'll be a white tag telling you what color the seats are--Pewter, Med Pewter, neutral etc. Just makes it easier. Using the vin is great--but doing this will tell you the color right away.
I wish you were huge on RUclips and could do it full time. Your videos are always really great and to the point. Thanks for the great content over the years
Wow a grand to redo both seats wow I truly need to redo all 4 of mine in my 2004 Yukon Denali they are badly trashed and torn form water pouring in my sunroof over the past few years and I need a whole new carpet
Man I love your attention to detail. I have the exact same Tahoe as yours, but with a bit more miles. Trying to slowly fix things over time and your channel definitely helps me out. Keep it up!!!
The Seat Shop was very nice for sponsoring this video and providing you with top-notch products. You did a great job with the kits provided by The Seat Shop! I'm going to order the same kit from The Seat Shop for my 2006 Tahoe. Hopefully, I'll do as good of a job as you did.
I love watching videos on the Tahoe. One of the best looking older Tahoe’s out there. Great job I love the transformation please try and make more videos on the Tahoe.
Thanks for making these videos, man. I'm thinking of getting a Tahoe of this generation for my next vehicle and your videos make me feel a lot more confident about me making any needed repairs or upgrades.
i just bought a 2001 tahoe for $500 im planning on completely revamping it im pretty excited but it definetly needs alot of work. other than that it runs and the battery holds a charge and it also make no noises so im pretty stoked.
I also got a Tahoe 2003 for 1800 as a project, I’ve owned it for 2 weeks and I initially fell in love with it , in the past I’ve had minivans and Silverado trucks . But this is a mix of both and is much comfortable than both . Have fun on bringing your Tahoe back to life .
Thanks LsxMatt. Your video was invaluable. Using a new cushion with a new cover is really tight and your trick of kneeling on the seat frame was just the ticket when doing the install by yourself.
Seats look really good.now is you need to replace that trim that’s on the seat control .l also have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe LT model got it two years ago in good shape, red exterior beige leather interior also.
A cheap cheap hand held steamer will soften the leather and give you a little more flexibility, it makes the job a little easier. Smooth out the wrinkles using the steam and your hands and dry overnight. Try it if you tackle the 2nd row.
I just found your series, and am working my way down the list performing a number of the tasks as well, having just purchased a *rough* 2001 GMC Sierra. Thank you for having posted these videos. I'm going to be replacing the covers on my front seats and cleaning the rear ones, before many other items in the rig, since the seat and steering wheel are your main points of interface with your vehicle.
Great video! You gave me the confidence to do this job on my Tahoe. Was about to spend way too much at an upholstery shop. Thank you! Keep up the great work.
I have a 2005 Yukon and the leather is worn out and the cushion is pretty flat. I was on the fence about replacing the driver side, but I think this video made my decision easier. SeatShop has a 10% discount if you spend over $500 but your code works even if you spend under $500. Love the videos, keep up the good work.
I can't be the only one who thought: "The only way the driver's seat gets wrecked like that, is from reaching back to stop your kids from fighting in the car.". Right?
I've driven suburbans as primary vehicles for last 30 years, most of them with leather interior... I've never seen a tear like the one shown🧐 (88 K5 Blazer, & 91, 93, 95, 97, 05, 07 Suburbans)
Perfect timing for this video. I just bought an 02 Escalade. The seats cleaned up nicely, but have some dye worn off and some small rips. The seat belts are dirty too! I'll have to check out the Seat Shop website.
Your video ended up being the most useful one especially on the part where you use your knees, without that part clipping the front was almost impossible to do Thank you!
I had all my seats Reupholstered, in my 2002 the oem color for only $500.00 here in Chicago, and l must say, its a huge difference. My seat foams were fine and the heaters were too. It was done professionally but without the price, doing the seats over makes it feel like a NEW TAHOE. I strongly recommend it, and the guy comes to your house and takes them out front and back in like 10mins, wish l could post pics. Heating up the material with a heat gun makes the stretch MUCH EASIER
Goll-LY those trucks sound good. I need me a new turbo ASAP. Just towed 9k over 9-11% mountains in the Poconos and my stock LML turbo still hanging in at 238k. Even pushed an intercooler pipe loose. Interestingly, my trans temps never got above 179 degrees
Great, except for the blurry "can't see it" armrest clip removal. Nice tutorial, great looking product. Now, TRUST me on this Matt. Order yourself up a 16oz bottle of "Bick 4" leather conditioner. It simply feeds the nutrients back into the leather. It doesn't change the look, it doesn't darken it, it doesn't make a gooey mess. Now that you have clean/fresh leather, condition it!!
great job! Definately looks like work, but very impressive as you worked the seams into the seat foam! Mine needs the same thing, think i'll give it a try. Thanks for the video brother
Thank you so much for this video. Right now I am in the process of doing the research & shopping around for products to do my Tahoe. I have a 2009 Tahoe SSV ( formally a police vehicle) it has beat up cloth on the front 40/20/40 seats and Vinyl on the rear 60/40 seats. So, my plan is to get vinyl for the front so everything matches. I did price out all products that I will need on a different website, but I believe that I will be going with THE SEAT SHOP after seeing this video...nice job...looks nice. and I will be using your video for reference when I do mine.
Although the seats look good and they seem like quality, my local upholstery shop charged $400 per seat to do the work and install it. These covers from The Seat Shop costs more than a professional upholsterer charged to do it.
The seats look great. However, I wish you would have gone over the lumbar support in detail. When I test drove my car, the lumbar support worked just fine. While driving the car home and fiddling with the seat adjustments, the lumbar popped. The motor works fine, so the problem is inside the back of the seat. Good thing I don't like the lumbar sticking out, but at some point in time I'd like to repair it as I just like everything working properly. Thanks!
I’m shocked to see those prices It’s costing more than $500 for one seat More than 1000 for two front seats Are you sure it won’t be much cheaper letting the upholstery guy do it?
Wow what a difference. Looks brand new. Mines and my wife's truck SUV are in fabric. I wanted to know if the seat store has the seat belts. I want to replace all of mines and my wife's truck. I also wanted to know if you could help me. I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe ls. And my passenger side electric seat is stuck. It moves a little but won't move back all the way or forward all the way. It's track or something is messed up. I can't figure it out. So I can't remove the seat. Same for my wife's truck 2001 gmc Yukon sle. Also fabric interior.
My 06 suspension is horrible.. driver side drops alot more than the passenger side going over bumps. I know about the Chevy lean but there has to be an easy fix. Will a ride rite aid ride suspension fix it?
Dear How can I get the same stuff i am from Sultanate of Oman and i dont know how to do I have tahoe 2006 but its seats are in horrible condition Kindly advise
Fantastic stuff Matt. After cleaning my 1997 Ford Expedition's carpet the same way you did yours, now I'm thinking the seats need some attention. Turns out The Seat Shop makes new leather for mine too. Just kinda annoying that they only offer the stock gray and tan, no F-150 Lightning Black...
Hey Matt. Great videos and beautiful truck. I'm about to tackle this with my 03 z71 suburban. Was the seat shop able to provide new foam for the passenger front seat? I haven't been able to locate any information on new foam for anything but the driver seats..
I wanna know why didn’t the seat shot pre-cut the holes for the seatbelts, headrest, and all rest? Unless you stitched around the holes you cut, the holes are going to widen due to the body weight.
Depending on how worn down the seat foam is, the holes can fall in different places. There’s no downward weight being pulled on the seat back so it should be ok. I’d only be worried if the bottom and top section were all one piece.
Just got off work , it was so hard to wait this long to watch. I've been looking forward to this all day!!!! Thanks Bro, my 03 tahoe will thank you!. Awesome job on the seats and the video.
This is super convenient because I’m looking at getting an LBZ duramax, and they conveniently have the exact same seat design, so I can kinda follow this step by step if need be
I’m 05’ Z71 , also sliver birch metallic but light pewter leather. This is on my radar for the future. This week unfortunately I’m pulling the front bumper and passenger fender off. Some cop in a hurry(no lights or siren) blew a red light and hit me. Freaking county refuses to reimburse me too, I have to go to court.
So the website doesn't offer the all leather upgrade for the 03-06 tahoes in shale (only medium). The shale option has a leather seating surface and vinyl sides. Are these not the same?
I have the leather seating surface and vinyl sides like oem. The all leather option replaces the oem vinyl sections with leather. Not sure why they don’t offer it in shale yet!
Totally appreciate the video.. I have a 2004 Suburban looking to do the same... as well as the headliner, so looking forward to seeing that with baited breath
I just bought a 99 Buick park avenue got all the breaks done, oil changed, all the doors to open again and not stick, windows are still a bitch and don’t roll up and down correctly but it’s whatever, and now I just have to fix the leather seats cause they’re tore up pretty badly and so is the heat warmers not only that the door has a pretty big chunk missing lmao so after my grandma is done diy the gauges from spinning around I’m on to interior work 🤣
So my car was stolen for about a year and when I got it back the guy was so fat that every time he got in he couldn't hoist himself into the seat so it got pretty badly damaged and super filthy. So I am wondering if the replacement bottom portion for the driver's seat is actually leather and if it will fit a 2007 Chevy Suburban seat. I personally have never put my feet down into the vehicle without changing to my driving shoes not only to protect my shoes but to prevent any debris from dropping into the carpet covers.
just started cleaning my seats gross, i think its been 3 years. I am using super clean on them and a 4" paint brush to scrub and a micro fiber to pick up the dirty soap.
What do you mean by inserts? The heating pads or foam? I changed the heating pads in both seats. I only change the driver side lower foam because the passenger seat didn’t get sat in enough to need replacement.
Impressed 👍🏻 , those seats turned out great. On a side note looks like your driver side seat adjustment plastic panel is still cracked. Have you considered plastic welding it and painting it with some interior paint? Just a thought great video as always.
LsxMatt Genuine GM 88941682 Seat Adjuster Switch Bezel, Front www.amazon.com/dp/B00GV84JIY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_F3bpFb20TY4X4 Just found these the other day for my 04 Tahoe z71. Make sure you check your color be ordering.
Finally I now know how the top of the seat belt unbolts thanks. I need black seat belts for my seat I want to convert to leather. Looks like I'm hitting the junk yard to cannibalize some seats. Haha
Who thinks I should tackle the 2nd row as well?
Yes
Can you restore your door panels I put more insulation in
Might as well
I put 2019 2nd row leather seats.... OMG looks awesome
I would say no because no one sits back there, but if you did, opt for the cheap vinyl ones like you previously had.
I used to work as an IT manager at Narricot Industries in Virginia where they made seat belts. There is a testing room where they stretch the seat belts to maximum, and when they break, I jump every time (not used to being in there all day like the others). Costs a grand for all that shit if anyone was wondering
Wow a grand to redo both seats wow I truly need to redo all 4 of mine in my 2004 Yukon Denali they are badly trashed and torn form water pouring in my sunroof over the past few years and I need a whole new carpet
I have the 2002 Tahoe and I am 100% certain after this video, I’ll be tackling this myself. Awesome vid!
Leaving the leather in the sun for a bit before install and letting it heat up makes this a bit easier as well.
Good tip!
Or you can throw it in a dryer before
2nd generation z71 is a timeless machine the best tahoe ever produced just perfect
Yes it is , ❤
Man I love your attention to detail. I have the exact same Tahoe as yours, but with a bit more miles. Trying to slowly fix things over time and your channel definitely helps me out. Keep it up!!!

Man I need that box u got. For my Denali. I see it's not cheap I looked them up. Looks good tho.
That yellow foam... that's a combination of general mildew, humidity, and ... ASS SWEAT. Yummy! LOL
16:16 - a Billy Madison quote eh?
Broooo finally a Tahoe video I love your videos man keep them coming ❗️❗️
Plz show us the front armrest clip and tool u used to pop out . owner of a 02 tahoe LT
Seats look really good.now is you need to replace that trim that’s on the seat control .l also have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe LT model got it two years ago in good shape, red exterior beige leather interior also.

Nice to see you too, Matthew. I'm always so proud to see you get sponsorships and all the love and support.

Where did you get your carpet and do you have a video on replacing that? I just got a 02 Burb and I want to replace all the interior.
Could I also use this method to change the color of the seat too?
Your video ended up being the most useful one especially on the part where you use your knees, without that part clipping the front was almost impossible to do

I have a 2001 and a 2004 Tahoe, both have side impact airbags. I noticed you didn’t have side impact airbags? Seats look great!
I priced mine with seat shop then went to local katskins dealer same price but katskins installs it
How are those katskins?
Yeah I priced the factory recovers and are pricey as sh*t
great job! Definately looks like work, but very impressive as you worked the seams into the seat foam! Mine needs the same thing, think i'll give it a try. Thanks for the video brother

Awesome vid my dood! I so want to get this done on my Yukon Denali. My seats are trash. When I do, will still use this video ref! Thanks man.
When r u going 2 change the stock speakers? It's been a while now & adding a amp 4 more power.

Anybody ever tell you that you sound like Ray Romano? Lol. Really good work. I always love what you do to your Tahoe, looks super clean!
i just commented that then saw this lol
First 2 second's I did
"LET MY WORK SPEAK FOR ME".........GREAT-JOB MATT
Nice job my brother..very well demonstrated and explained..now I just need to get over to the #seatshop and get started on my 2004 Suburban..🙌🏾💪🏾😇
Luckily the previous owner had most of the panels reupholstered, but I'm pretty rough on seats lol so these may come in handy eventually.
My 04 Silverado z71 doesn’t have the heated seats. Can I add them easily? I guess I just need to connect to a switch I can do myself. Any suggestions?
I’m shocked to see those prices
It’s costing more than $500 for one seat

Probably just something stuck in the seat track...try cleaning it.
My 06 suspension is horrible.. driver side drops alot more than the passenger side going over bumps. I know about the Chevy lean but there has to be an easy fix. Will a ride rite aid ride suspension fix it?
They look good with the exception of the recess at the top of the armrest on both seats. The fit is decidedly not perfect but it is pretty good.
Can I have your old drivers side bottom cover and cushion? I need to do this I'm almost down to the metal frame.
As much as I have no interest in the Tahoe, this is a really good video.
Please do a video on the tailgate. I can't open mine on a 2006 Suburban.
Dear
How can I get the same stuff i am from Sultanate of Oman and i dont know how to do
I have tahoe 2006 but its seats are in horrible condition
Kindly advise
I have a 2001 Yukon leather seats, all torn up , can I put different seats, from Tahoe or something similar
Matt, I’m looking for a hood like yours for my avalanche. Where did you get yours at?
Thanks Dave
Fantastic stuff Matt. After cleaning my 1997 Ford Expedition's carpet the same way you did yours, now I'm thinking the seats need some attention. Turns out The Seat Shop makes new leather for mine too. Just kinda annoying that they only offer the stock gray and tan, no F-150 Lightning Black...
Do the vent caps. I did on my 2000 Yukon and it made it look soo good. I also did a Escalade rear bumper that was paint matched.
Marine grade vinyl is the best when it comes to vinyl.
I wanna know how you got that driver side airbag to fit that steering wheel.
wow - identical to a 2006 Chevy Avalanche Z71 - thanks for sharing, helped me in some details of disassembly
Hey Matt. Great videos and beautiful truck. I'm about to tackle this with my 03 z71 suburban. Was the seat shop able to provide new foam for the passenger front seat? I haven't been able to locate any information on new foam for anything but the driver seats..

Thankyou!
I need just the arm rest for a 02 sequoia do you know if it’s possible to just get that individually
Are you able to put seat heaters in cloth seats or is it going to be a fire hazard?
Perfect happy Gilmore moment 😂😂😂
Must be so comfortable now, maybe a ranch hand bumper next.i suggest putting a dash cam in all your vehicles
Totally appreciate the video.. I have a 2004 Suburban looking to do the same... as well as the headliner, so looking forward to seeing that with baited breath
gonna order for my 05 escalade and 14 f350, lsx10 code no longer works but they do give 10% for orders over $500
Are you gonna put a new exhaust on it? Magnaflow super 10 sounds good on them
Good 👍 job were can a person buy those I need to do my bottom section
For the c pillar do you know what is the seat belt torque spec on the torx bolt?
Where can we get the middle row captain seat cover?
Are the paintable? A leather vinyl spray ?
I just brought a 02 suburban
This is a must do on mine
Good to know thanks
Love the Tahoe 👍
looks awesome! Off the wall question, what jeans you wearing in this video? Falls coming and need to buy some new ones, lol.
You should put the new body Escalade roof racks on
Do u have a pic of the one ur talking about?
Shame they don’t make leather replacements for trailblazers. I would love to redo my interior on mine
Can you do a long term review how they have held up please.
If you conditioned new seats and really tried to maintain them, do you think they would actually last any longer than if you didn’t?
just started cleaning my seats gross, i think its been 3 years. I am using super clean on them and a 4" paint brush to scrub and a micro fiber to pick up the dirty soap.
I went to the SeatShop site to check on the stuff for my Trailblazer and they don't have anything.
Wait why didn’t you put new inserts in the other seats? Like you did for one seat but not the other
What do you mean by inserts? The heating pads or foam? I changed the heating pads in both seats. I only change the driver side lower foam because the passenger seat didn’t get sat in enough to need replacement.
Nice job! The seatshop has a great product!
I've got a 95 southern comfort that needs some new leather. Sadly they don't have the maroon color that is is. 😢
Do you look u have to remove the seat? Looks like you can just remove seat bottom.
Hey, you did the whole thing, much appreciated.
Impressed 👍🏻 , those seats turned out great. On a side note looks like your driver side seat adjustment plastic panel is still cracked. Have you considered plastic welding it and painting it with some interior paint? Just a thought great video as always.
Im probably just gonna find a replacement on ebay.
Think I could put cloth over heated seats?
You can use a steamer on old foam will make them come back to life.
