Just wanted to let everyone now that LsxMatt hats are now available on my new web store. There WILL BE Tahoe and Trans am stuff in the near future! lsxmatt.com/
THANK YOU for not doing a cat eye swap. I just don’t understand the hype about it. Think it looks goofy. HD looks much better. I’d love to see you do the body work yourself as well.
i feel ya, but there is a specfic cat eye combo that just look awsome and cant be beat, the ones that look funny are the ones with the HD cat eye front swap, those look funny
It's not ideal (because of the ridiculous markup), but try calling a Chevy dealer with a robust parts department. In my case, several months ago, I was looking for a rear door for my 2004 Tahoe which has also been discontinued (To further compound the issue, no aftermarket parts are available either. The front door can be found all day long). The Chevy parts center can lookup in their nationwide database at all of their warehouse inventory. For the rear door, there was 1 single doorshell available in the whole nation for the "low" price of $700 😆 and just happened to be in one of the offsite warehouses in the Dallas area (my town). I decided to instead continue my hunt and junkyards and drove to 2 hours away where I was able to find one in decent shape.
This is 1 reason I bought a 2004 tahoe. So easy to work on and very reliable. Do the body work your self man, save some money, gain the experience, and give us some content! It comes to your benefit and us the viewer's.
I agree 100% on not going cat eye front end...they actually made Cateye Suburbans in Mexico, so I'm sure they did Tahoes too. HD looks way more aggressive! Love the build brother, I have a 2005 Z71 suburban 4x4 same color and about the same mileage! I love it!
I have my 06 Tahoe with 150k miles and want to do everything you’ve done so far but not lifted. I’m living my life vicariously through your channel!!! Keep up the badass content!!
I love how you're bringing life back Into an old truck I'm currently in the same situation with my 03 chevy blazer after replacing damn near everything except the engine and transmission
Hell yeah! Do the bodywork yourself. That way you’ll save money, have more ‘ownership’ in the car...and you’ll be satisfied with the result because its done to your standard.
Working on my 2004 AWD 1/2T Suburban 225K... Same color as yours. I recently ordered new rockers and rear lower quarter panels. I'm going to tackle the repairs myself. I want them done before another Chicago winter. The rust holes are only getting bigger!! I do watch and like your videos of the Tahoe. I have put some of your upgrades/repairs into action on the Burban! Replacing the driver seat foam, leather and heating element has been a game changer!! I've owned this truck since 2006... bought it with 36K. The only major ($1500) repair was the AWD transfer case. Still pulling my boat on the original trans.... knock on wood. :) And she's still on the factory fuel pump. Heading north for a week of camping and fishing in less than 2 weeks... pulling the boat and all of my glamping gear... Around New Years, 2021, I installed keys and blocks for a "3 inch" lift. At the same time replaced both upper and lower control arms along with the rest of the steering components... The steering box and and shafts are another near future project. Keep the Tahoe content coming... Good stuff.
I had a Tahoe and did my build like yours with wheels and headlights everything you did and lost that bad boy when I crashed it in New Mexico 😭 still love seeing your build
Yea, walk us through the body work, Matt. I have a 03 Z71 and have followed this project from the first. I have minor rust issues but haven’t pulled the rocker cladding yet to check the rockers. I’m considering a LQ9 swap and I’m researching 4 L80 swap issues....and refit of trans. case/ drive shafts. Have fun and thanks for sharing your skill and time. Dave Heitman in Omaha
DAAAAAAAAAAAANG that looks nice! happy to see you reused the side bumper supports, i have seen a lot of HD front end swap videos and those seem to always get forgotten
I've been loving these videos! I got my first Tahoe (2003 Z71) a couple months ago. I ended up totalling it when I crashed on a mountian road sliding on slick tree material. So just two days ago I got my new 2003 Tahoe LT. This one is in nicer condition, but I severely overpayed for what I got ($7,500 for a SUV with several cracks in the windshield, a missing 2nd row headrest, bubbling paint right where the rear windshield wiper meets the hatch, and a check engine light right after driving away with keys in hand from a dealership that purposely neglected to list the issue it had. But on the bright side I have brand new all terrain tires on new wheels, the interieor is in great condition with few exceptions, it runs and drives fantastic (even better than my first Tahoe). Your series which I have just found has given me many ideas or upgrades on my new rig. I just gotta save up and start small. I think my first upgrade will be weathertech floor mats and weathertech window deflectors. After that I will probably look at a bluetooth touch screen head unit and a dash cam. Maybe look at running boards and a roof rack, but I'm not sure if a roof rack is possible with my sunroof.
This is exactly what I have been wanting to do to my Tahoe. I love the videos I’d love to see you prep it! I have a few other things I want to to do that haven’t been done to yet so I’m glad mine won’t look like a carbon copy! I love these Show is the prep!
Looks great! I have an 05 tahoe z71, last summer I replaced both rockers, both rear quarters and restored rear bumper. Plus I painted all my plastic from grey to black. Turned out amazing! However, I've never done bodywork in my life, did it all myself just from watching RUclips videos and using rattle cans. It did take entire summer though. In the end it extremely rewarding doing it myself.
Well. now im gonna be looking for decent bumpers. bought my yukon a few weeks ago. seems like you put out videos on things im looking to do. Thanks for all the content that you put out always super informative and helpful.
Nice job Matt!! Yes on doing the bodywork yourself (as much as you probably don't want to) will be better for you in the end, just like the Camaro was. Great job again as always!
Do the prep yourself, man I really really like the way that front end looks as is...to me it makes it look different than the other million Tahoe's on the road!
Love the front end, looks a heck of a lot better with the HD stuff....meaner. I'd like to see you do your own body work, good learning opportunity for the rest of us. Keep up the awesome work 👍
Did the same thing with my 02 Silverado z71. Kept the original bumper though and added the blacked out grille and lower valance from an 03 Tahoe z71 and the HD hood from an 01. The hood had a similar story....found it on Craigslist and drove from houston to near San Antonio and the owner called me and proceeds to tell me that although the hood was smooth and primered it had been on through a garage fire. I got it anyway because at the time I couldn't find those hoods but when you open it the underside defiantly looks like a BBQ pit.
I painted my Tahoe... it is two shades of black with gray trim on front and rear bumper... I refinished the bumpers using rhino lining... and lower part of door skins down to rocker arms. Turned out pretty sweet
Yes Sir. Please do the body work video. Thank you for the hd front end conversion video as well. I have an 02 tahoe and just scored an o2 hd front end, you video will help tremendously.
Did you actually just ask IF we wanted to see the prep work done? Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle? Lookin' mighty fine thus far Matt. Yeah, NO "cat-eye". If I had a cat-eye one, I'd want to convert it back to this style. Much cleaner in appearance. The lines flow "more gooder".
Do it! Show how to fix the hood and prep for paint! I have an 04 Suburban that needs paint on the hood, it would be great to see someone do it before I start!
So, I got the same color tahoe, same look.... I'm always on the lookout for an HD hood in my color. With color being a topic, this color is available in duplicolor spraybomb. I got a case on Amazon not so long back, totally worth it. Just this month or last I wire wheeled my front bumper down to the lowest levels of bare metal, then used an etching primer, rust converter (just in case), then aerosol color matched and a clear coat.... it comes out good. Helps that it's just a bumper, blends easy. Using a canned clear actually works out just fine. Also did the rockers and quarters.... it isn't the 100% final version, as I'll be adding new metal for that. But these areas, rockers and quarters, also work out real well with aerosol and canned clear. Super easy to have these things blend, especially in a color like this. No one would ever know.
I didn't like the grille and bumper with the stock hood but once the HD hood was on it looked WAY better. I think it even looks cool with the black bumper.
I ended up doing to the 2500hd Cat's Eye swap on mine simply because it looks different. I felt it a shame that they never updated the Tahoe's etc until the complete body change to the boxier version. What I love about these trucks IS the ability to take from many GM models based on the same platform and fit to your tastes. Had to fix my shift indicator LCD so swapped out LED's and added the Escalade overlay. Same with the backglass and third brake light much like yours from an Escalade.Bits and pieces here and there from a little of everything. Do the body work yourself, you'll love it that much more when finished.
I've been waiting FOREVER for this video! It looks great. At least you got the hood liner, which is almost impossible to find, and the under hood light. Be for warned--peeling that chrome is gonna suck ass. I did it the easy way and just plastidipped it. The Denali rear bumper cover goes right on top of your existing bumper. You could use krylon fusion paint to match the oem gray--and it'll last. If you feel confident enough to do your own body work, and you're good enough--just do it! You'll save money and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. Are you painting the whole truck? Or just the parts that were damaged and replaced? Looks great so far, keep it up Matt!
So, so glad I live in the Pacific NW and we do not have to deal with rust. We have the same color 2005 Suburban at work and I like seeing the things you do to your Tahoe. I did install all interior led lights and now we have to deal with he rear shocks but I think it has that smooth ride option so not sure what shocks to buy. But no way I'm going to try and talk the boss into a HD front end.
hey matt, i see the frame and most of the components are a bit rusty, have you thought about doing an episode on repairing it maybe?? 🤷🏾♂️ it could be more content for tahiti 😎
I've got some chipping paint around my door that I've been wanting to sand down and prep, seeing how you do it would be so helpful because that Camaro looks incredible!
Just wanted to let everyone now that LsxMatt hats are now available on my new web store. There WILL BE Tahoe and Trans am stuff in the near future! lsxmatt.com/
Is that the 01-02 Silverado 2500 Hood?
THANK YOU for not doing a cat eye swap. I just don’t understand the hype about it. Think it looks goofy. HD looks much better.
I’d love to see you do the body work yourself as well.
i feel ya, but there is a specfic cat eye combo that just look awsome and cant be beat, the ones that look funny are the ones with the HD cat eye front swap, those look funny
I figured its worth mentioning that the 2500 HD hood, pn (15745931), is discontinued from gm so our only hopes are the junkyard or the shaftermarket😩
Where did you get the info for the cuts you had to make?
@@midwestcityboi there's a lot of info on tahoeyukonforum.com
Check the 2000-2006 section

@@grantgeorgia7168 in Vegas we have a bunch of tahoes in the junkyards. They got a bunch of rear doors
“Shaftermarket,” consider that stolen!
I've been waiting on this video for 11 days lol thank you my friend you give me hope for my 2001 Tahoe ✨🙏👊🏿
Fun fact: the 2004-2006 Suburban's and Tahoe's (Sonora's) in Mexico came with the 2003-2006 Chevrolet Silverado front end from the factory
Cool
@@TheNotoriousJizzle it is a cool fact

I saw one once and assumed someone did it them selves but maybe not

yeah do the prep yourself. With the results you got with the camaro, doing it yourself sounds like the best bet.
This is 1 reason I bought a 2004 tahoe.
So easy to work on and very reliable.
Do the body work your self man, save some money, gain the experience, and give us some content!
It comes to your benefit and us the viewer's.
These videos make me so happy lol
Keep Tahiti coming
This is a comment to push the algorithm. You are quite impressive Matt! Yes do the body work yourself bro!
Definitely prep it yourself. Can't wait!
Looks good. Yes bodywork videos are entertaining to watch , at least for me.
yes, please do it yourself. I´m learning a lot with your work

The H/D front end with the z71 lower valance and fog lights gives it a bit of a Trailblazer SS vibe. Looks good!
I have my 06 Tahoe with 150k miles and want to do everything you’ve done so far but not lifted. I’m living my life vicariously through your channel!!! Keep up the badass content!!
What we've all been waiting for!!
Also would love to see you do the body work! I’m working on a project myself and I wanna see someone else doing this as well.
Yes I would love to see you prep the body work and would like a tutorial on how to do it on my ‘06 Chevy suburban!
These old trucks are fun, because there’s always something to fix! (Mostly minor stuff)
I love how you're bringing life back Into an old truck I'm currently in the same situation with my 03 chevy blazer after replacing damn near everything except the engine and transmission
You gattttaaaaa do the body work!!! I have a 04 LT Tahoe….you are my go to for EVERYTHING for my truck!!!!
Finally a new Tahoe video thank you 🙏🏾 💯💯💯 and yea you should do the body work
Yes you should do a video on how you would knock the body work out. Great vid
I've had good luck with Fertan rust remover, rust converter and the Epoxy primer; check it out for your hood and rockers.
Hell yeah! Do the bodywork yourself. That way you’ll save money, have more ‘ownership’ in the car...and you’ll be satisfied with the result because its done to your standard.

Cerakote ceramic trim coat wipes. That will restore your plastics. You won’t be disappointed. They work amazing.
I love that look!!! I have a 04 gmc Sierra, (single cab) I did a 01 hd Chevy Silverado hood on my Sierra head lights... ooh looks so good 👍🏽
That looks so incredibly good, I'm gonna do my 03 2500 suburban with the same gear. Thanks Matt you rock
I just bought a 05 suburban I'm thinking on doing this too
I had a Tahoe and did my build like yours with wheels and headlights everything you did and lost that bad boy when I crashed it in New Mexico 😭 still love seeing your build

Got to be honest Matt I didn’t think it would come out very good but I was completely wrong it looks great!
Thanks for sharing,

Tahiti would look sick in an all black or gun metal grey. Please do all the prep work yourself.
Yes please, upload a video about the process

Wow. Makes Tahiti look a lot tougher. Can’t wait for the next video man!
Yes Sir. Please do the body work video. Thank you for the hd front end conversion video as well. I have an 02 tahoe and just scored an o2 hd front end, you video will help tremendously.

I love all your videos. Do the body work yourself!
Yes! I’d love to see some body work! I need to do some on my C4’s hard top to get it colour matched before winter
I’d definitely be one to watch the rocker repair !
Do it! Show how to fix the hood and prep for paint! I have an 04 Suburban that needs paint on the hood, it would be great to see someone do it before I start!
Yes I would very much like to see you do the rust repair. I have only one suggestion, couldn’t you get a new hood from LMC?
I felt it a shame that they never updated the Tahoe's etc until the complete body change to the boxier version. I did same thing to my 2004 8.1L 2500 suburban. I bought it, hit in the front.
Looked mean as hell.
$160 is a steal for that hood in that condition. Here in the west coast (LA) people want 200-350
Definitely would like to see you prep it yourself! Atleast the job will get some right 👍
I've been waiting FOREVER for this video! If you feel confident enough to do your own body work, and you're good enough--just do it! i would like to see you do all the prep, your doing a amazing job.
Use SEM Products Trim Black on the factory Z71 trim. It will look like it came from the factory black. Works more like a dye than paint.
I've got some chipping paint around my door that I've been wanting to sand down and prep, seeing how you do it would be so helpful because that Camaro looks incredible!
