Great, straightforward video. I personally love the center console, but I love my people too, and it's nice having that extra seat in a pinch. Thinking of doing this to a Suburban to make it a 9-seater.
Additional note for those with bose. The module that is part of the center console is required to make the radio work. You'll need that plus the wiring harness.
I just swapped my center consul out for a jump seat today and I was frantically trying to figure out why my radio wasn’t working. I could see what I did wrong
Nice video bud I completely understand on the 6 seat set up I recently bought a older Silverado and wouldn't buy one without the jump seat (everyone looked at me like wtf) but I got 4 kids and it's important to be able for everyone to ride
Just put the same exact set in my 68 Ford truck. I'm not a fan of intermixing brands however you have to admit GM makes a comfortable seat. It wasn't the easiest mod but shoulder restraints, center console with storage compartment, power seat and cup holders hell yeah! it sure Beats my 50 year old bench seat.
Can I keep my driver/passenger seats and only swap out the center console to put in a jump seat? Or do I need driver/passenger seats that are specifically for a jump seat?
I'm doing the opp of what you did cause I want the middle console, couldn't find it in dark grey nowhere, had to get light grey out of junkyard surburban and going to paint it. Thanks for the step by step, great video.
(Serious question) How is this downgrading a Silverado though? I have a 05 Silverado with center console but think a jump seat adds more benefits. It's still a console & can turn into a 3rd seat. So how is it a downgrade?
Caleb Melton Meto, I wish all cars would have split bench seats and the shifter on the steering collum like a 2013 Impala LT Front bench option Or a 1996 Ford Taurus Front bench option.
The lids on the 99-02 jump seat consoles are very flimsy. If you lean on the lid while entering the truck it won't last long at all. I'm considering adding a 2015 jump seat. Better quality and 3 cup holders, lol.
It looks like he has an aftermarket stereo system. If you have the stock BOSE system, you would loose that as the stock amp and center sub are in the console.
A great remove and install video. Some trucks dont have the rear radio controls so it wont be an issue. Losing the rear vents for air flow would be hard for me.
What about the amp that powers the speakers for the Bose system Ik when I do mine I’m pulling the amp and harness out of the center counsel to re locate the amp and sub
If you had Factory Bose in the truck you would of course have to put the BOSE amp and SubWoofer else where, the amp could be hidden under the dash but the sub would be lost, you can infact bypass the stock AMP, you would need to take wires from the radio, run 8 wires, 1 for + 1 for - of each of your door speakers, like FRONT LEFT - , REAR RIGHT +, then on the wiring harness in the center console, where the amp is, take the wires leading into the amp on the bigger of the 2 connectors, there are certain colored wires you must cut and then connect to your wires from the radio, look up the Diagram from for vehicle or PM me your vehicle and ill send you a list of the wires to cut, but you need to connect the end of the wires that is running AWAY from the amp, not into the amp in order to bypass the amp, I did the amp bypass on my 04.5 LLY duramax because my bose amp gave out of me. My aftermarket Headunit works perfect, i can adjust the EQ of each door speaker properly, i wired the stock Bose Subwoofer also so it works properly, as well as added in a aftermarket amp for my 2 10' subs in the rear that i added behind the rear seats.
We got rid of the center console in my pickup, and replaced it with a jump seat. But now we are at a loss as to what to do with the amp and sub just sitting on the center hump. We replaced the head unit with an aftermarket. Now the radio sounds like crap...pretty much like its underwater. I'm thinking my amp is no longer working. But wanting to get rid of it and put in something different. Where do I go from here? Any help would be appreciated!
@Gerry Pointer Possibly at 5:19 Looks like you can take the pro factory codes lid portion completely out of glove box bezel. When swapping bezels/glovebox. Just trade in the correct lid matchin truck frame and body vin. Instead of the donor glove box bezel.
agreed... I have looked for that part for a while now, all l keep finding is the dash parts for mating to the center console, not going this direction. Called it just about every name I can think of...
Can you tell me if the cup holder on the jump seat screwed in or riveted in ? I’m looking to go to a junkyard and remove the cupholder. I would like to know how it is mounted to the seat. Thank you.
I did this swap in my 2005 Chevy 2500HD with LT trim package. I had to remove the wiring harness and Bose amplifier from the center console in order to get sound from my stereo. I mounted the amp under the dash and was able to fit the factory sub next to the air vent below the dash on the trans tunnel.
Can you explain the wiring harness issue you ran into? If all you wanted was the cigarette lighters, shouldn’t that have come out of the dash and not the console?
Did you know that you can do the 07-13 Silverado NNBS center seat swap? It's a direct fit. You have the two lockboxes in it, plus the better jump seat. I'm using this tutorial when all my gear comes in on my 02.
Good video, I was thinking of doing the same thing with my 05 GMC because I need more seating space. My question is did your stereo work after removing that center console with that speaker. My stereo didn't want to function because I didn't put that center wiring harness.
Great vid, thanks! Thinking of doing same thing with my '06 1500 Xcab Z71. Does leaving that huge wire harness unplugged have any negative effect? Also, I'm not worried about exposed vent hole, as long as it doesn't push air out at the wrong time...
anyone know the part # for the central panel that's supposed to be there when you have the jump seat instead of the central console? If GM doesn't make one, is there an aftermarket source for them? I think I saw it on some cars
Hey round about what year of truck did those seats come out of? They would be a good fit in the back of my bronco. Been looking for seats with built in seatbelts for awhile now
I should have read the comments. It was a pain finding space for my amp and the controller for the back speakers. I managed to make it all fit. I cut out the left side of the glove box to make room for the controller so I could still have back speakers. I did figure out what wires work for the cigarette lighters so I did not need the big wiring harness but then needed it anyway. Oh and the doors alarms also don't work for some reason. I sure hope I like the jumper seat.

+Davitski P I'm not sure the part number or type. Your best bet is to go to a junk yard you might get lucky and find a console that fits your vehicle. Good luck sir
+Braden Peterson I'm not sure if that vent under the dash that meets up to the console is the same, if it is then you have no problem with the ac but if it's not you might need to order that vent part

Tristan Bell should work. Chevy is known for not changing some things over decade's. I've never owned full size Chevy's but I've owned a 94, 00 s10 and two 96 blazers and they all had the same mounting points on the seats.
I'm getting a jump seat tomorrow from someone and I got a 03 Chevy Silverado and my seat don't fold down so I'ma take it off but do I got to take the driver and passenger side out to so I could install the jump seat or what really don't know what I'm doing 😂
The center console jump seat should come preinstalled on the seat and I'm pretty sure there is not a wiring harness for it that needs to be plugged in.
Freaking amazing. Wish car companies would stop putting in these monstrously large center consoles that remove all right knee and leg room. Nice work.

Can this be done on a 2011 silverado???
I am swapping the Console out for a Jump Seat as well, Where did you get your jumpseat, also the new Glove box Thing that goes over the old Cigarette outlets/ I still wan't the cigarette outlets, but in taking out the console as you said, you lose em!
+NyteOwl no you don't loose them just plug the old wiring clips to the new ones. Look at your local junkyard that where I found mine
+NyteOwl I went to the junk yard and got lucky I would go that route for the parts
Great video 👍👍.. If u go from electric seats to manual, how do u plug the wire harness under the seat to make the airbags work?
They plug right in for seat controls but the older Manuel seats dont have air bags
Does it look like factory? Can you post a video of how the bottom looks close to the charging ports
+Jose Torres no it does not look factory
Hey, I'd like to know what center console that is that you started out with. I want to replace the crappy jump seat with an actual console like the one you had, and so far the only ones I could find that might work were for tahoes & avalanches.
+Davitski P I'm not sure the part number or type. Your best bet is to go to a junk yard you might get lucky and find a console that fits your vehicle. Good luck sir
Truck Master
Thanks
Davitski P these consoles should all be the same exact part in all silverados, sierras, tahoes, suburbans, yukons, etc.
is the piece that you are sealing off easily removed? I'm adding a center console and would like to have functional rear ac.
+Braden Peterson you will no longer have rear AC for this one but yes it was easy
Truck Master I'm doing the opposite of what you did. so the piece you sealed, could that be added to my truck
+Braden Peterson I'm not sure if that vent under the dash that meets up to the console is the same, if it is then you have no problem with the ac but if it's not you might need to order that vent part
Did this affect your driver info controls or steering wheel controls?
Not at all
Hey great video! do you know if you can swap jump seat for a center console if you have the manual 4x4 shifter on the floor?
I'm sure you could since the bolt pattern on the floor is the same. Thanks
Jimmy Hurley I know this comment was from a long time ago but check out my videos, I swapped a full console in with floor shifted 4wd.
Hey man I have a question. I have a 2003 tahoe with jump seats and my dad has a 2000-2001 not for sure silverado. his has leather seats and a middle console. could I switch my middle seat for his middle console? or would I have to do all seats?
+Tristan Bell I'm really not sure but I had a 2000 Silverado and it's the same seats as my 07 I would type that question in google good luck
Tristan Bell should work. Chevy is known for not changing some things over decade's. I've never owned full size Chevy's but I've owned a 94, 00 s10 and two 96 blazers and they all had the same mounting points on the seats.
Where did you mount the amp in order to keep the nose system working? Big fan! Think I've seen every post. Keep it up
+Bob Fred thanks I re wired everything but you can mount that amp behind the dash
Truck Master rewired how?
Truck Master I would also like to know how you rewired it
Hi, I'm interested in buying your old set of seats & center console. How much? Let me know, Thanks!
That was pretty straight forward. Thank you
Thanks for the video,God bless . The only problem I came across was , my truck has Boss speakers and I need it and inside the center console
There might be a way to take all the wiring and Bose amp and tuck everything behind the dash
Did you ever figure it out
I'm getting a jump seat tomorrow from someone and I got a 03 Chevy Silverado and my seat don't fold down so I'ma take it off but do I got to take the driver and passenger side out to so I could install the jump seat or what really don't know what I'm doing 😂
Are the seat brackets the same between 1500 to 2500 for the 99-06 models?
Did u ever figure out
When are you gonna do a video on the plastic cover on the AC vent? Great vid by the way
I will get it done soon now that you mention it, thanks!
Hey man. What did you do about the seatbelt for the jumper seat?
The center console jump seat should come preinstalled on the seat and I'm pretty sure there is not a wiring harness for it that needs to be plugged in.
