I wish we would put as much effort into protecting our children & families as we do in protecting firearm rights, assault weapon bans, purchase ages, stricter background checks, etc. It's NOT okay our children are murdered just because they went to school. It will never be okay.
The fact ppl go out of their way to not only voice their support for ppl who- for lack of a better term- let the ball slip on this situation BUT make a show of it when so many parents lost THEIR KIDS. Where do the parents find the resolve.

They should hire military veterans that have been in combat. I'm sure they would do it to protect the young and show that you don't need a badge to be brave!

bravery and honor do not have badges. bravery and honor reside in the children who called, the teachers who hid the kids. bravery and honor reside in the people who take action, to the parents who were ALL willing to charge into that building, and pull the children out, even when it put them in danger. bravery and honor do not have titles, such as deputy, or chief. bravery and honor are in titles such as "she called for help, to save her class, and was killed in the process" bravery and honor are in titles such as "putting themself in front of the kids, to try and save them" respect is earned, not given, and these officers failed. they have no honor, nor bravery. they use the badge as a right-of-way to abuse the power and neglect the people.
