Hey All, A few people have pointed out they prefer the default/unique all in one hab as it also includes a bed anyway. So choose your preference, but note if you delete the default on you can't get it back. I've been using the captains quarters all of my playthrough but of course you go with what you like most!
To summarize, the Frontier module has: a bed, a research station, a cooking station, and 2 passenger slots; plus unique visual clutter if that appeals to you.
@@XoRandomGuyoX Thank you for the recap!
I tried to follow your guide . Problem i have is i dont have the ship parts available that you have. Am i missing something? how did you get them
I'm playing on Xbox and I did the guide 100% but it says the ship cannot be finalized due to errors and flight section they want me to sign a third weapon
put BETTER engines on, DON'T ADD engines. Adding engines raises the power bar for engines which means you need to spend more energy to get to max speed. Rookie mistake. smh
The ship builder could use an "Inside Preview" Option.
Yes
true iv wasted alot of time saving and loading just to see what inside looks like
I’d like to customize furniture inside too
I'd like to be able to watch live sports on the monitor in there.
Unfortunately the closest thing Starfield gamers have rite now is whatever video guides get put on RUclips + any game Wikis people bother to compile & post on the Net 🤷♂️
You can fill the third weapon slot with an EM weapon and just not dedicate any power to it. This way you can take down the shields or destroy ships with the beam weapon and missiles, but if you want to board the ship, you can reroute power from the missiles to the EM weapon once you drop the shields. This will allow you to take out engines easily if you want to board enemy ships without potentially destroying them. It won't affect your overall effectiveness because you can just not have them powered when your goal is destroying rather than boarding.
Makes it super easy to steal ships if you want to build more or farm the enemies on the inside for more exp.
@@justinb3209that works too but I have had a couple times where the angle is wrong and I'm shooting the actual ship and not the engines. Destroyed a couple ships I wanted to board on accident that way.
I've just stolen a B class ship and doing this method, except for the third weapon I am now using an auto turret with just 1 bar of power routed. Seems better than nothing and allows for passive damage too if I'm dealing with multiple enemies
Like the emp80 or emp1000?
Would you say boarding the ships and killing everyone is more worthwhile than straight up gunning them down with your ship?
@@Ecliptor. If you board the ship and kill everyone, you can steal it, register it and sell it, plus you get more of whatever cargo they had, so stealing gets you more credits, but also takes a bit longer.
Just keep the Frontier module... the Captains quarters actually doesn't add anything that the Frontier module doesn't have already.
If you deleted it take the All-in-one A module, it is the same, but it is missing some themed items like the broken helmet.
The All-in-one A usually has a bed, research station and a cooking module, also 2 passenger slots.
If it doesn't have any of those three, then you might have to change the location to the left or right, since things move depending on where doors are.
Yeah, the default module of the Frontier matches that All-in-One then: bed, research station, cooking station, and jump seats for 2 passengers.
@@XoRandomGuyoX There is one difference, a Storage Box that holds 150 weight.
Kept the module but the themed items still went missing and my captains locker was empty.
@@idiopathictendencies8453 When you modify the ship, the loose items and the captains locker to into the freight storage.
BUT I noticed, that all loose items that come with the modules are actually duplicating themselves. Meaning they could respawn in their places on the ship.
Fpr example every time I modify my ship I get a copy od the broken helmet in my storage.
Sorry for the probably stupid question but why would we want the broken helmet ? (I sold it before customizing the ship....)
Just finished watching 4 videos on this exact subject and yours is by far the best bang for the buck, and the most expositional (in a good way). Thanks!
I usually avoid guides like the plague until I have done a playthrough, but there is so little info in game on this and not being able to even get close to a ship battle without being blasted, well here I am and this was so well done I subbed just to say thankyou.
I struggled for over an hour trying to correct all the flight errors making a custom ship and then ended up just reloading my last save and giving up. I will be using this design for sure. Thanks a lot for this!
The worst is when I finished a large build and there's an error about a module not attached. The error should highlight the parts that need fixing but nah I need to reattach everything to find which module is not attached.
I just found out that double clicking any component will select all connected components. So in case of any unattached component you couldn't find, double click and drag the main portion of the ship sideway. The unattached component will be left in the original place.
The video was very thorough and helpful enough...then I come and check out the comments. EXTREMELY helpful everyone, thank you for your contributions. Ended up taking bits from commentors to really customize the Frontier and its awesome!
DO NOT DELETE the Frontier module! It is uniquely named and spawns the broken Constellation helmet. It has a bed and research station, enough for a start. I would get the captain's crew quarters and control hub as they both have a storage crate with 150 capacity for 300 total, which is very handy for storing stuff early on when you're hurting for cargo space and don't have the funds to offset low mobility with weapons and engines. Workshop and research modules seemingly make sense, but I wager you're probably going to be spend a lot of time grinding at first. I'm 50 hours in and on hardest difficulty, I have enough stupid to throw at my enemies without bothering to update any single of my weapons or equipment. Combat is quite satisfying, I'm drowning in med packs, and I rarely buy things. I mostly sell my loot, just so much loot I barely have enough cargo space. Crafting in this game is not nearly as satisfying as it was in Fallout 4.
I don't know how he missed the bed in that tiny room. Also how often do you really have the option to research new things? I'm all about convenience, so storing all my resources in the infinite chest in the Lodge, and waddling down the stairs to the basement is the easiest option
Sad some things have gone backwards from f4 and even Skyrim.
it seems as if even if you leave the default module and just add other things onto the sides. that you still loose the unique spawns
Once you pick up the helmet, what’s the point of keeping the module?
@@shinobinsg1539 that has not been my experience. I have the Broken Constellation Helmet and Barret's notes spawning without fault.
I didn't quite have available to me exactly what you have - haven't unlocked some of the components - but just having you guide me through each of the ship components and suggest each upgrade was huge. Great guide! Thank you so much!
this is why i always watch guides even after learning tons.. i never knew about the windows. this will make things more immersive for sure,
The starting center hab has a bed already and feels a lot more open when entering the ship.
+ it has 2 passenger Slots which you lose by changing.
+ you have a place to cook which the other habs other than the Gally as a 3x1 don’t have.
@@oBlackIceo the science lab actually has the galley, it is after the research lab and the pharma workstation.
but i agree that i prefer the original hab module in the middle to keep the bed, and the more open floor plan
@@patricfriberg2678 the galley wouldn’t let me cook. I kept trying to interact with different habs with galleys but to no avail. You’re specifically look for a “cooking station” as opposed to a “galley. in order to cook I suppose.
@@oBlackIceo i have had no trouble cooking in the science galley, i just did it less than three minutes ago, had to go to the far end of it, the game is new so i am not surprised if they are still trying to work out some bugs. sorry that you had problem with it.
I know this makes me look stupid, but when you double-clicked and you where able to change the color of the whole ship, my mind was blown. That alone made it worth watching.
Hehe glad to help!
This tutorial is excellent. XP and Credits aren't an issue for me (I was late to ship building), however, this budget build was excellent for getting me started.
Thanks for walking me (us) through it.
This was a helpful video! I'd already stolen a couple of better ships, but switching out to these specific weapons and shield upgrades and dropping the 3rd weapon has definitely upped my space combat game. Thanks for the info!
I've been struggling with ship building the last 2 days after I stole a pirate ship and tried to upgrade it. This video really explained things better than any others. I wish that when choosing modules there was a preview of what each one looked like inside. Loving the game but as a UI designer, there are some UI quirks that feel not thought out well or just bizarre.
Great build, although I had to realize myself that the Amun-1 engine has abysmal efficiency... 5660 thrust for 100 mass, meanwhile other engines can have double or more than thrust for the same mass. The problem is that those other engines are side-mounted, but you can provide the side mounting if you do the following: when you're replacing the grav drive to a stronger one, choose the one that has side mount options, and actually move it below the power plant, effectively switching the position of the back cargo and the (upgraded grav drive). Then you can add the side mounted better efficiency thrusters underneath the other thruster pair.
THIS VIDEO!!!!!! Mate, this is BY FAR the easiest to understand "How-to" vid ive seen so far !!!!!
I was already subbed, but man, you outdid yourself here imo!!!
Tyvm for this piece of excellence bossman!!!
Very nice job and easy to understand. This was one of the things I was rather timid about thinking I would "break" the ship. Thank you...
Top tier content mate! Used your build almost exactly and love it! That extra cargo space makes the game more enjoyable during early game as well
The lack of cargo space has been the most infuriating thing about this game so far.
I put all my early game points into carrying capacity and then oxygen capacity. Helped a little but the real difference is when you start upgrading your ship to 1000 - 2000+ cargo space. I never worry about it now. @@dagrumpz8661
Wow! This is the build/video I was looking for. Gives me everything I want and need. Thx Arekkz!
An absolutely brilliant and clear explanation - thanks so much!
Thanks so much! I didn't find upgrading the ship to be intuative at all and was struggling (apparently watching every episode of Star Trek ever didn't prepare me for Starfield) - so thank you :)
Personally, I'd keep the default hab, which has both the bed and research station, and just add the workshop hab in a vertical position. Save a bit on mass, and the only thing you lose inside is the pharmaceutical bench...which I've never had a reason to use anyway. You find soooo much medical items all over the place
Absolutely beautiful video i finally understand how the building systems work. thank you
Mate, thank you so much - you're the first person that has succeeded in showing me how the ship building system works! Subscribed and thanks again.
Excellent video! Just what I was looking for.
I absolutely love the ship design however I don’t personally like the captains quarters in the very middle of the ship. The captains room should be private from everyone as it’s your room. :)
Damn, haven't been here since PS4's Monster Hunter. Glad to see you still making quality content
Maaan, finally someone made me understand ship building. Now I enjoy the jumps and even mining the asteroids on the orbit of the planets. I thought had a bad start on the game and after 30+ hours was thinking about to restart. You saved me from another character creation. 🤗
Awesome video. Been stumbling with game in design and this helps greatly. Thank you!
Man, I have been completely lost when it comes to the ship building feature, but after watching your video, I think I can give it a shot again. Thanks for the detailed info, very much appreciated it!
Thank you very much, I have played many many hours, and was frustrated on the building aspect. You have made it clear, and now I have the basic down. MUCH appreciated.
thank you. very concise and to the point. plus great little tidbits of information. awesome content.
Went and did this twice, first to build my ship, then again to really understand what it all means. Fantastic video, much appreciate the effort you put into this.
For those having issues with the ship component options being limited, you MUST be in Atlantis for those options to appear. I was in a different city on a different planet in a different system and those options were not available to me I assumed i was not far enough into the story for it but upon following the directions completely I realized I needed to be in this city. This was the situation for me so if someone else is having the same issue as I was thats the reason. Follow exactly what he is telling you to do and it should be smooth sailing/exploring. Each city has a ship component "theme" and specific parts are only available in those cities so if you don't find what your looking for chances are your on the wrong planet/system. Hope this helps, happy building/exploring👍
Huge help thank you for this! Doing this every NG as well so it helps get used to the ship builder
Awesome video! Thanks for making this.
Thanks a lot for this video. I just recently had a chance to play Starfield, and I’m loving the game. I reached 3 or 4 missions that had space fights and I hated them. This really helped me in my play thru and understand the ship builder better.
Great vid, been looking for some good Starfield content, very useful ... subscribed!
Thank so much for this guide. Now I feel like I have a decent starter ship!
What a fantastic video Great job! You earned yourself an instant subscriber :-)
Brilliant guide, I had no clue about shop upgrading as Im still new and was struggling with a few dogfights - thank you for this.
Followed your guide almost to the t. Slightly different add-on engines, but virtually identical stats. Works great, freaking love having all the work stations. Thank you.
Thank you for this video!! Seriously helped me soooo much with ship building. Thank you, thank you, thank you
straight to the point , thank you .
This helped me a lot to understand the ship builder. Thanks!
You helped me with this so much. Now I really understand how ship upgrades work :) Thank you.
I had no idea about the double click to colour the whole ship, nice tip!
Fantastic guide, thanks!
Thanyou for info, starting this game and thought ship building was going to be a pain glad to see it simplfied a bit, and on my starter ship no less
Thanks for the video. I followed it and now it looks nicer. Thanks again
Great video, and tips.
You gave me some ideas for moding my Frontier. Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to make the video. I tried to do this exactly as you did on the Xbox but I could not get the Helios 300 it only had the 200 so I went with a different module and I was unable to make the build work. I had too much mass. I messed around a bit and it worked out in the end though. :D
Very helpful thank you. Playing on hard hasn’t been that difficult but with ship combat….If there are 3 or more ships I’m screwed
If they’re around your level you should be able to win. It took me a few tries but I eventually took them out.
On very hard its literally imposible to kill ships if there are more
Your Video made my day! So much more room and capability! Thank you!
SO AWESOME THANK YOU !!!!
Space combat is really kicking my butt and I had no idea about the many options I have for ship upgrades and building. I want a ship that can fight but can also take punishment from enemy ships. Thank you for the video.
Super awesome and will do!
Thanks...been searching for a guide video like this since I started playing about 6 hours ago ..LOL
Nicely done, best explanation/tutorial I have seen on ship building
Very good tip thanks you.
Happy to help 😁
I’ve been playing for 4 days time and I just found out about the different variants of Habs. Wow this game is amazing lol thanks for showing!
Good informative video, thanks!
Sweet. I plan to keep the Frontier for a while this time through, and this is a fantastic vid. Thanks...
Thanks for a super helpful and very clear video
New sub here just from this vid. Thanks for all the great info!
Thank u so much this helped me loads 🤘
Thank you so much for this
😎🥂✨
thanks a lot! that really helped
Great video! But available choices in my game were a bit different. Also, I kept the original Frontier module. It had a bed, and just has that cozy, familiar look. It also has a research station and kitchen, so all the science module really adds in a ddition to that is a pharmaceutical station.
some of the options were not aviable for me what level do I need to be for the upgrades?
Thanks for the tips
Thanks for the video, very helpful to upgrade the Frontier early (and a good tutorial for the build mode). However, in my game, I don't have the Helios grav drive an the Marduk shield. But the global modification are still doable with lesser part
You got my sub this is a life saver. tyvm
Nice vid. Learned a couple of things. Did similar changes, but, removed lasers for Disrupters and removed Missiles, and Balistics and put in a pair of the PB-30's. May regret it later if I find I really needed missiles, but, so far the Disrupter pair and PB-30 pair seem to be working well together.
Double Click to color the whole ship DUDE!!!!!!! Great video, time saver....
Awesome - thanks
That was really helpful
We three minutes in and you've blown my mind. I'm sitting here looking at the ship builder like "HUHHHHH". I'm dumb!
An interesting build...I've never thought of trying out the PB-30 Electron Beam Weapons (@8:12)
I wouldn't delete the orginal Hab or Cockpit of the FRONTIER, cause they are not buy backs.
Play your ship until you make the Credits to buy a new ship , or steal one.
Personally I would focus in order :
1) *Shields*
2) *Weapons* (Vanguard mission = Tau Ceti gives you access to *_4 or more Vanguard Obliterators Autoprojectors_*)
3) *Grav Drive* to increase the Weapons power systems
4) *Engines* for Space Combat mobility
5) *Fuel* to increase distance jumping from system to system
6) *Cargo* increase for more Resources
7) *Habs* for comfort and looks
Great Video, thank you...i will definitely try this one 🌍💙
I did the same but I had the cockpit at the right hand side, assymetrical, and added some Stroud nice curvy "fangs" on the other. Pretty nice stuff, what this game allows for.
Thank you, this ship help me beat the crimson mission I was stuck on!!!!!!!!
I find that early game a one weapon system is best. You can dedicate all energy to one weapon system and your rate of fire will increase. Idk if damage increases also, but I don’t think so.
You can keep missile systems though, putting only 1 pip of power in them, and be fine since that only affects reload time. Just remember that you have to keep an enemy ship on screen long enough for the 'locking' bar to switch to 'lock' in order for the missiles to gain tracking. It is true though that, at the moment(because it might get nerfed in a patch), swapping weapons for a main cluster of particle cannons with maxed power works wonders.
Just the appearance is awesome enough to get a "Like." That looks fearsome.
You are " Fantastic " Thanx 😀
Nice pick on the weapons. I added the crafty habs linear, and added two more of the same engines, lol. I got it to 1090 cargo so far, and can add +2 more of the big +320 cargo pods. Once I unlock class B engines & power plants, tho…
Thanks for the video! I appreciate that you went slowly to make the interface much more understandable, before that, ship building was pretty daunting and uninteresting due to the barrier of entry just from a UI perspective!
Awesome video, liked, subscribed and here's a comment sir
This was super helpful "The Frontier" can take more hits.
Just use one weapon type..in my case the electron beam and pump it to max..watch ships dropped like flies
Electron beams rule!
TY!
Thank you for this. Finally got around to playing more Starfield. The system is so bulky and unintuitive I had to look for help. This has got me started. At least for building starships.
So useful, at least I know what I'm up to tonight
Saving for tonight’s playing
Yay, I started last week and I put about 18 hours into one character but I didn't like her background and I made her a UC Citizen but I wanted her to be more of a nomad so I restarted and now I'm happy with my Enlightened Pilgrim. I have $80+ so I'm ready to upgrade my ship and start an outpost!
Excellent video! Thank you for that. It gives top notch info on both a particular topic and some help on starting to upgrade and even build generally. Very useful! But are there any necessary skills you need as a prerequisite?
Not sure if this is different depending on where you build, but for me the workshop module had a research station included. As this is all I need, there was no need for a science lab for me. I also don't use the bed, so all I did was replacing the Frontier module with the Workshop module, which is super cheap and does no need any other upgrades yet.
Update on that: Deimos and Stroud workshops have a research station included, while Nova and Hopetech workshops have not
Dude, using a bed is a must. Sleep cures illness, restores health to full and gives u 10% bonus EXP for 24 hours, all for just 1-2 hours of sleep.
