    I think that in the end-game pistols are the strongest weapon overall. The pistol perk is stronger than other perks (20% more damage), and it has by far the most useful level 4 upgrade, which essentially amounts to an additional 25% damage for 5 seconds after getting a kill. Add this to the 50% extra crit damage you get later on and that amounts to 37.5% additional damage.
    For example one of the weapons you get from the pirate quest is the Keelhauler, which is fully automatic. It deals 110-170 * 6 damage in around a second. Even the tankiest characters in the game die almost instantly to that much damage.

    • @ESOdanny
      @ESOdanny  Год назад +21

      TBH i think you are correct, if we also add in the legendary effect head-hunter +25% damage after a headshot, then put suppressor on the pistol and add sneak multipliers and criticals then we are going to be one hit killing most enemies. We can also save scum to get the other legendary damage buffing effects, making the wepaon even more effective.
      When i said shotguns, i'm more referring to people who want to run through the game easily deleting everything with big damage. You don't even need to worry about the legendary effects the weapon has or even modding it. You just get a flat percentage increase to your big damage number and that is enough to kill anything in Starfield easily.

    The freestar trait is my favorite of them all!! You should do it, or the other ones for role-playing purposes alone! It has everyone else acknowledge that you are a member of that faction or from that area. It’s really cool! Like my dialogue is even country western sounding!

  • @ForemostCrab7
    @ForemostCrab7 Год назад +13

    I really wish some of the traits had more of a world impact.
    Like Kid Stuff, how cool wouldn't it be that if the money you keep sending your parents, will eventually change some parts in their apartment? Maybe a new Tv, some new clothes, hair implant for dad and such.
    Would also be cool if you could reject some rewards and instead ask a favor in aiding your parents, like, how cool wouldn't it be if you could reject a reward from someone in high power, and and ask them to move and upgrade your Parent's standing?
    Give them an absolutely High Class Luxury home, balcony with a pool, a Maid and/or a Butler and what not.
    I know it's just for Flavor, but it would be a nice touch.
    Could even go the complete opposite, if you decide to no longer support them, they're forced to move out and end up in poverty and have to move down into The Well, or force your dad out of retirement to get back to work just to survive.
    Or a combination of Kid Stuff and Dream Home! Have your folks move into this fancy house with you, it would be like a Vacation they always wanted, but permanent.
    It's the small details that matter.

      I leveled both stealth and concealment. To get concealment I maxed gymnastics and then put a couple in fitness and others. Works very well. The only weapons perks I have taken so far (level 60) is ballistics, a little in explosives (grenades suck but the Bridger is a killer) and one or two in pistol. I have no problem killing what I come across.
      Stealth, ballistics and a Hard Target are a great combination. Jacking up scanning is also very useful. Pays to see what you want to kill before they see you.

In contrast, my Combat medic just left the Service after completing his first UC tour of duty which was planet-based (terra firma). He took the mining job so he could move out of his parent's house.

    One skill I cannot stress enough is PAYLOADS in the Tech category.
    Since the icon is a rocket/missile I always assumed it was just missile stuff.
    But it ACTUALLY INCREASES CARGO HOLD SPACE for your ship! And iirc it's +50% at max rank or something so you can really get TONS of space (heh, get it?) for your hoarding needs.
    And let's be real, you will be leveling the tech tree anyway for the jump pack and pilot skills anyway so you will always have access to this pretty early.

  • @GremlinSciences
    @GremlinSciences Год назад +31

    Wanted is one of those traits that I wish I could have picked up later instead of starting with it. They're good XP and the ships can be good money, but when you're just starting out they can spawn several times your level (I had an encounter in space with Lv30 bounty hunters at just level 6) which isn't very fun when they show up while you're in the middle of a mission.

    • @danjal87nl

      The fact you can drop traits, but have no way to acquire new traits or even swap them out on NG+ is a major oversight.
      Keep the limit of 1 background and 3 traits - but allow someone to sub in a different trait if they drop one.
      Like maybe you got tired of the Annoying Fan so sent him to a special farm on Cthonia. And now you're wanted for crimes against humanity.

    I chose to be evil for my first playthrough and took both "Hero Worshiped" and "Wanted" I thought it would be funny and interesting if the adoring fan was pining over an infamous criminal/terrorist. For my 3rd trait I chose taskmaster because the bonus for seems very strong for just an upfront increase in recruitment cost and I want to do allot of ship combat/have a large pirate crew. I think that is a good balance between so called "traits that add content" vs "traits that improve the power of your character."

    • @captaincaptain2128
      @captaincaptain2128 Год назад +3

      I was gonna pick that too, but then realized that it's not a consistent trait. There's only a "chance" that your crew will repair your ship part back to 50 percent. And if you're going to do lots of ship combat, you need your stuff at max health, so you're gonna end up fixing manually anyways. It's a completely pointless trait that just makes you spend more credits. Good luck.

    The absolute number one tip for Starfield is never be concerned about adding a point to a skill! The lvl cap is over 12k. Seriously you can lvl to well above twelve thousand! Don't won't to spoil anything but you also can play the game through over and over with the same character and keep your level and abilities. It's called new game plus or ng+. So put that point in that skill you want. It's not hurting anything! You lose your money, ships, inventory and it just resets the game for your character over and over as many times as you want.

    For Those Wanting to Min-Maxing Character Power. The Best Traits are Alien DNA, Terra Firma, and Introvert/Extrovert.
    Base Oxygen amount is 100. You can only increase your oxygen level by 30% via rank 3 of the fitness skill. So a maximum of 130 oxygen.
    Alien DNA, and Terra Firma Both give you +50 Oxygen each which is insane. Youll start the game with 200 oxygen on planets. Plus the introvert/extrovert trait so you drain your huge oxygen level even slower. I never ever have oxygen issues and for exploring long distances it helps immensely.

    Yeah, the dream home has been pretty underwhelming to me. It's really remote and kind of a pain to get to, and it doesn't come with any furnishing. Don't think there's anyone to talk to to pay money to auto furnish it. Also, another thing that kind of annoys me about the inside of every building is the blinds are always closed so you can't see outside any window, but that's a problem with every building and not specific to the dream home. Still though, the perk is more interesting to me than most of the others since it adds a unique location. I paid off the mortgage already, and I'll probably come back to it later when I'm in the mood to craft and place furniture around. I do really like the interior. Went with Kid Stuff, Dream Home, and Wanted, and even after getting around 20 hours into the game I don't think I regret going with those traits.

I suggest going with File Not Found this give 3 of the best perks you will want Wellness: More Health, Ballistics: More Damage with Conventional Firearms, and Piloting allowing you to use Boost in your Ship. The Traits I suggest are Wanted and Taskmaster. This leaves you a free choice. Hero Worship, Dream Home, Kid Stuff, Empath, or Terra Firma. If you are playing a good guy/gal, I go Empath as the bonus from it will be up basically all the time. If you are a Pirate, I suggest Dream Home so you have a location to store Contraband early. While ballistic weapons might be strong contenders in combat, I have a pretty good argument for energy weapons early on: the Cutter. The mining cutter is a surprisingly good weapon for a while and never runs out of ammo with the only real problem being it's lack of range, but it benefits from _several_ perks (energy weapons, heavy weapons, tool-grip weapons, etc) and the increased damage will even help you save time on mining. It might get out-classed later on, but you'll always have viable energy weapons including a few that benefit from all the same perks as the Cutter.

    You so nailed it on Ballistics. I was honestly shocked how many weapons that skill covers. It is important to know though that lasers affects particle beam weapons (I assume Ballistics also does for the same reason Lasers does) and with the earlier laser weapons being plentiful it's not a terrible choice, since there is a high chance most players end up maining the Big Bang or one of the Va'ruun weapons. That said the various magnetic weapons are amazing if a bit difficult to maintain ammo stocks for so skipping Lasers and ignore particle beam guns can be done if youi manage your ammo...

      I do want to just add a slight disagreement- while the income boost from the freestar/uc native traits are nothing special the additional flavor is still worth taking them at least once and the early income boost is not useless. They aren;t fantastic of course but I don't think they're really a foolish pick. If I had a complaint I'd say they just need to scale rewards better...

    Vanguard flight training. That’s all you need to level up piloting. It’s part of your initial test. You’re done in five minutes. You don’t even have to do Vanguard after that. Just go up there and you can shoot down five ships in a couple of minutes. Leave the simulator come back do it again. You don’t even have to do the hard levels just do the first five and then quit and then redo it. It takes no time at all.

    • @MrTehru

      @@Tinyshellproduction no because each level of piloting, you have to basically shoot down a certain number of enemy ships. I think it’s 15 then 30 then 50. With the Vanguard flight training does is it gives you an easy way to activate each level of piloting. If you have to fly around and look for enemy ships to shoot down, it can take time, or you can spend 20 minutes and shoot down 30 and you’re done with level three. It’s just an easy way to level up the perk. It took me about 20 minutes to do my 30 kills tonight. Tomorrow I’m going ship shopping lol.

Basically have infinite storage from the beginning. Just land, run inside, drop stuff on ground, and leave. Much easier than traveling to lodge to your room or dropinng everything in space ship. I actually found that if you talk to representatives of the religious factions (or at least I’m extrapolating) that you can get rid of some traits.
    I only know that it works for a fact though for the Introvert trait. When I talked to the Enlightenment NPC in the well, you can go through a dialogue that has you saying “you want to be able to be around people more” and whatnot, and at the end you can choose to have the trait removed. No clue if that means you can get certain traits added via other npcs as well, but really cool nonetheless.
    So traits actually are changeable after picking them. I just don’t know which one’s and to what extent

    Boostpack, scanner (i regret that 1 lame pos thought it did more), Piloting, Ballistics, Commerce,
    Sneak, Weightlifting, pickpocket cause easy money & ammo, security, starship design im positive im forgetting something but Weightlifting is essential for everyone 1st level up may need to be that on a new character.
    1st playthrough dont even worry about settlement building cause thats just not fun & awkward with some things. Like u cant have your landing pad attached to the habitat you may use to sleep in. So u gotta run down 397 stairs to get to your outpost which could also be elevated 😂 thats another 350 steps.

    My guy has a criminal background and means to build a galactic crime syndicate. The first two traits fit that, and hero worshipped has no cons. With wanted I figured by boosting the amount of encounters I boost the gear and ships I come across.

    started playing again.. can't wait for the official mod kit. (tempted to try some existing mods, but i know they will break and more likely to cause issues)
    just wanted to say Wanted is by far the best trait, BY FAR.. bounty hunters AND bounty defenders show up, the defenders will actually help you, so really you could just shoot each bounty hunter once or twice and get all the rewards.. PLUS you can attack the bounty defenders after as well if you want to, but you need to be quick.
    Serpent's Embrace is great, it is a hp and oxygen buff 99% of the time, the only time it wears off is if you sleep somewhere for more then 4 hours (UT) really, then once you go to a different system it's back.. and i believe there is no downside to it, despite what the description says.
    Alien DNA is great early on, 25 extra health and oxygen at level 1 is very helpful, and a bit extra every level... and the only real downside is the healing item works slightly less.. first rank of medic and the penalty is cancelled.
    IF the dream home had an unlimited storage like the lodge does then it would be worth it at least early on.. otherwise, housing seems useless, i actually forgot all about getting houses.
