If you enter your home ship, you'll find yourself on New Atlantis and when you go back to New Atlantis at any point, parts of the city will be missing including some key vendors. There are also issues that can arise with your ship being invisible or ladders disappearing or any other number of things. So if you're going to sell your ships, don't do it at the Den.

You can bypass the scanning process if you put an outpost outside of the city you choose to land on. So instead of their starport its a landing pad outside.
@@3InchFinch I imagine it can't be an outpost in a different "tile" of the world. It has to be a site that you were able to walk out of the city directly to?
When you choose to land in this game on a planet, if you choose a different icon on the terrain than normal, it generates a big instance with its own content. it will not be linked with other bases or content in close proximity. So to make an outpost or 5 in the same vicinity as a city, you need to land in a city and physically venture outside its boundary so you are able to build as the city has a big barrier that denies placing an outpost. When you pick up any contraband item, you will notice the big cities with scans will be locked out until you get rid of it. You also can't give contraband items to companions since they can be a loophole if you remove them off your crew, they will go back to their original positioning at the lodge or somewhere. A useful tip for companions and moving resources through encumbrance, while you can't fast travel with it maxed (on foot), you actually CAN start riding a ship, but pull open the map to a point and fast travel to the lodge with the ship while encumbered.
Tap E when targeting, don't hold it too long, as holding E kicks you out of the cockpit. Super annoying when in a busy space dogfight. Then get close enough and it shows the R to press to Target Systems, but its easy to miss during a busy fight.
If you're an avid ship designer this may also be a good method for getting cheap hulls since you can't build from nothing, much cheaper that buying brand new and you don't have to sacrifice any of the free ships you get
This is a really good idea! When my piloting skill is high enough to buy all the parts from places, I'm definitely doing this. But nothing is stopping me from stocking up on the ships for their hulls, so thanks! That is a really damn good idea.
Good to see you covering games I am playing again! I use to follow you when I started playing RDR2 and loved all your videos. Just starting out in Starfield and hope you cover a lot of content for this game.
The time needed to wait is dependent on where you're waiting. It's 48 universal hours, but you can only wait 24 local hours at a time. In some places, 1 local hour = 2 universal hours and thus you only need to wait 24 local hours. I believe this is the case in either Cydonia (Mars, Sol) or New Atlantis (Jemison, Alpha Centauri)
If you get around to testing the scan jammers, don't forget to try testing different rank jammers to see if they stack. Some games block same level items from stacking but not separate ranks. Meaning rather than using 3x 30% jammers, to get 90% you would do a 10%, 30% and 50% to get 90%.
you can confirm if they stack by getting 100% or more and if you still get scanned then you know they don't stack because at or over 100% chance of not getting scanned means never
Depends on how they work. If it's a 30% chance for each of them to work, it could be 3 attempts to block with each attempt having a 30% chance which would equal to 65.7% total chance to block.
imo you get so much loot the commerce skill isn't worth it because vendors only have 5k or 11k credits. Bethesda really messed up the economy when the biggest hurdle is just waiting for vendors to refresh their credit pool. So, to be clear, higher commerce skill just means more waiting. Probably not worth it.
Btw I literally found a UC Vanguard ship for free, you go to the lodge at the edge of the city and then path across that big lake into the wilderness. Once you take and fly a ship away you can register it.
I’ve just been playing regularly, saved up 300k~ish credits, didn’t know what ship to buy, so I bought the one called “shield breaker” from New Atlantis, was a pretty good purchase, I’m broke af now, but I got a 2k storage, 5 crew carrier that has tier 4 weapons and auto-turrets. And I’m only level 19 with barely any points in piloting. Tbh I just wanted more storage because of my long hauler background 😂 ended up getting one of the better early/late game ships I guess
If you complete the mantis mission, you get the razorleaf, which is good for early game. Then, from there, if you complete the mission to become a freestar ranger you get the star eagle. That is by far the best early game ship that I've found. It's got good weapons, shields, and a lot of cargo space. Plus, it comes with a brig. So if you join the trackers alliance you have cells for prisoners.
Early on if you've got loads of loot to sell but the vendor doesn't have the cash, just load up on ammo to offset it. Some ammo is quite difficult to get large quantities of, like the Bridger ammo etc.
The Scan jammers do stack, I placed two 50%, which resulted me just landing into Akilla without any interruptions or scans, it went straight to the landing pad.

A couple points into pick pocketing before you even leave New Atlantis, pick pocket all store vendors, special named characters(besides the ones that you can hire to ship, you can't pickpocket them), all officers in MSAT building. Every one of these npc's have 700-900 credits, just quicksave before attempting. Easy money. Had over 100k before I even left town. Plan to do on the rest of the inhabited worlds too. As far as xp, doesn't really give you that, but if you want a BA ship before you even start, do this :D
Forget all this. Just go to Security HQ in Neon, go the contriband cache in the back, take it, sell it at Trade Authority. Go to Andraphon or Porrima IV-d, wait for equivelant of 7 days which wont take long atall due to the large time dilation and repeat.
I'm still using that ship, albeit modified to my liking. Got rid of the brig and the nacelle pylons/struts. Stuffed in a research lab and workshop and even some extra cargo, it's a damn good ship for working towards higher pilot level. Fairly roomy, too.
Making money is pretty easy in Starfield. Once you finish the faction quest lines you get access to really easy radiant quests that are really quick and pay pretty well
I found a thing with one of the vendors in New Atlantis. If you are a diplomat with the barter(or whatever it's called) skill you can sell stuff to them and buy it back for less than they paid you can repeat it till you have all of their credits.
6:10 I think I know why everyone keeps getting this wrong. Everything in the game is processed off of UNIVERSAL TIME (UT), not local time. And those are NOT always the same. Whenever you wait anywhere in the game, you select a number of hours in LOCAL TIME. As an example, Venus has an incredibly slow rotation, and the game has actually factored that in. So when you wait for "1 hour" of local time on Venus, it's actually waiting for *100 HOURS UNIVERSAL TIME!* So the people who think it's 24 hours to reset the vendors probably did that the first time and they happened to be on a planet with more than a 2:1 ratio of UT:LT. They waited for what they thought was 24 hours, but in UT it was more than 48, so the vendor restocked and they assumed 24 hours was all they needed.
You can also make an outpost and put up a mission board to take missions as well. Along with building a starport right at the outpost for yourself! It's pretty useful. Though I just realized it has no credits so you can't actually sell a ship there. Still has a ton of ship upgrades in one spot.
It's worth mentioning that in these bigger ships they often have a ton of food items in the shelves, usually in the areas with ladders. The ship you showed in the video had around 50 food items you can just grab from the shelves, selling for a lot of credits
Additionally, if you sell a ship that has all that stuff on it, it will automatically transfer all those loose items to your new home ship's cargo hold. So instead of running around looking for all the loose items, just sell the ship and check your cargo.
@@eXponentia Honestly to me it is more about time invested vs reward. Having all these misc stuff that sells for like 1-5 credits takes forever. Looting a ton of food also takes forever. Also non of these things give exp. So in terms of profit per ship it might be better to loot everything. In terms of profit per hour and exp per hour grabbing only the most valuable and easily accessible stuff an run for it is probably better
@@Sadreath Again, if you sell the ship you loot nothing. Just make sure your home ship's cargo is empty, and after selling the stolen ship you go to the trade kiosk, sell from ship and just spam sell everything. Takes 5 seconds.
@@eXponentia Yes but you have to fly to a system where you can sell it, patch it up, register it, sell it and then sell your storage which with the amount of crap those ships usually have takes me way longer than 5 seconds. Basically you go through 5+ loading screens to get rid of cargo and the ship that maybe nets you 10k more than looting the best shit and getting out of there. And you make no exp in the meantime. If you ask me that is not worth it unless you are really strapped for cash.

Local time = Depends on the planet ( just like Interstellar movie ) UT (Universal Time) = Actual time you need to take into consideration Vendors respawn their stuff 48 Hours Universal Time, so you do the math, some planents or moons have 1 hour local time = 12 hours/24 hours Universal time Some others, 1 hour local time = 1 hour Universal time Always take this into consideration for some stuff you guys might be doing
i think the 24 hours part is because they stay at a planet that have a different time than the UC time, cause when you wait you can see in the clock 2 time zone separately. Somer planet 24 hours meants 48 hours like when you sit in New Atlantis, if you wait a full 24 hours it meant 48 hours so the vendor reset.
I've waited on several planets, (most of the ones you can reach at level 1) and they all reset credits in waiting 24 hours. One wait/sleep bar cycle. 24 hours local time.
@@NoblessObligee there are 2 clock, the main one is 24 hours, if you stay on new atlantis there will be an extra clock that said UT time. So you might have missed those. I like to go to Jemison vercantile and sell all my random stuff and buy resource and ammo, then run to the cafe next door and sit on the chair right outside the door and wait for a full 24 hours. Make sure not to stealth too much and go back to hidden because then you technically left witnesses alive, and when you finish killing them the initial bounty you had before becoming hidden again will stay, it is dumb
Also selling contraband to the Trade Authority and then buying it back before you leave the menu “launders” said contraband making it contraband no longer. You buy it back for the same amount you you originally sold it for so no money lost either. One caveat it needing to go to Wolf or some other planet/station you don’t get scanned

The wait time is based off the universal time so for example Venus if you wait one hour on planet it is actually 100 hours of universal time so pay attention to the UT number for the waiting time that is wait the vendor resupply is based on
You didn't mention you can get the jackpot combination from the computer in the first loot room to enter into the computer by the contraban cache for more credits. It was my first time so idk if this resets every 7 days or not
a Full Day on Jemison (New Atlantis) is 50 Universal Time (UT) hours. Though CJ's will say it's open 59 hours, so I assume they originally intended for Jemison to be 59 hours. But still for 24 Local Hours on Jemison being 50 UT Hours, I can assume people were confused by that.
Thay say 24 hours cause of different time flow on different planets. Vendor's inventory, resource gathering are tied to Universal Time, and for example on Jenasin (whatever) 24h local time = 50h Universal time. So here u have to wait only 24 houra to refresh vendor's inventory. However on other planet local time can flow faster, and local 24h = let's say 24h uni time. Which means that at some vendors u have to wait more than 24 hours local time. For example on Venus via planet exploration u are able to find some vendors, at best with chairs in the vicinity. And although these vendors usually are low on credits (5000 is a regular amount), the trick is that on Venus 1h local time = 100h uni time. So u don't have to spend much time counting hours u need to wait. So selling process takes not that much time comparing to other
I could be wrong but from what I'm understanding in my own testing they do stack but not how you think. For example if you have two of them at 50%, it's not going to be 100% chance to shield it's going to be 75% chance. The reason why is the first one will drop it to a 50% chance to get caught. The second one will then take that 50% and drop it by 50% meaning you now have a 25% chance to get caught.
i need help. It is not showing me how to lock on to specific area on ship and yes i have the lock upgrade. it shows the red box for lock but nothing pops up to choose what to shoot!
I think what people are getting confused on for the waiting times saying 24 hours vs 48 hours is that on the waiting screen there are 2 times shown, local time and UT time. 24 hours of local time is like 50 hours of UT time, so I think people saying wait "1 day" is then reading the local time and not the UT time, which is 48 hours.
And it depends what planet you wait at. Waiting 24 hours on Venus, will fast forward 2000+ UT hours (cant remember the numbers right now as I'm not at home).
I think people say 24 in games because it works on universal time and on some planets 24 hours local time is 48 hours UT also i think he does stack. Because i got half a chance of passing contraband check and i got the worst type of jammer

@@crusifucktiongamedev.39 remember you also need starship design for all the parts!
Or go to Venus in sol where 1 hour local time is 100 universal
If you get around to testing the scan jammers, don't forget to try testing different rank jammers to see if they stack. Some games block same level items from stacking but not separate ranks. Meaning rather than using 3x 30% jammers, to get 90% you would do a 10%, 30% and 50% to get 90%.
you can confirm if they stack by getting 100% or more and if you still get scanned then you know they don't stack because at or over 100% chance of not getting scanned means never
@@RossMalagarieit’s a Bethesda game they stack
Depends on how they work. If it's a 30% chance for each of them to work, it could be 3 attempts to block with each attempt having a 30% chance which would equal to 65.7% total chance to block.
@@arthurziborov3023 I can confirm they stack I been playing the game

Just to mention: Store the Contraband on a Outpost (or lux apartment) and sell it, when you have the Skill Commerce Rank 4 for 25% more credits
I always had that on fallout 3/4&Vegas and I'd get ton of caps and farm crazy
imo you get so much loot the commerce skill isn't worth it because vendors only have 5k or 11k credits. Bethesda really messed up the economy when the biggest hurdle is just waiting for vendors to refresh their credit pool.
So, to be clear, higher commerce skill just means more waiting. Probably not worth it.
@@SpacePopeIIIYou can just wait for 2 days for vendors to refresh their credit, it's an annoyance but it's workable
Wow, that's actually really clever. Thanks!
This is what I do also I get white hot and sometimes MI
The Scan jammers do stack, I placed two 50%, which resulted me just landing into Akilla without any interruptions or scans, it went straight to the landing pad.
How many times have you done that?
60% of the time, he got away with the loot every single time
@@xoso599 a couple of times so far, eventually after writting this, they did scan me once, I passed the scans but it did happen anyway, so I think it's random
Where do you getbthe jammers
Got a tip for ya, there is a mission board in new atlantis in the bar called viewport, they tend to be in bars
Those are not ranger missions though but just general missions
@@Sadreath yes but they are the same missions to hunt down crimson fleet captains, I do them all the time and have never started the ranger quest line
@@jeffallen8304 Maybe viewport is different but I also get a lot of "deliver cargo from a to b or transport passengers from some place to another.
Ranger quests only involve combat and more often than not space battles so it is usually more efficient since you can pick up 3-5 at a time
A couple points into pick pocketing before you even leave New Atlantis, pick pocket all store vendors, special named characters(besides the ones that you can hire to ship, you can't pickpocket them), all officers in MSAT building.
If you finish the freestar ranger questline, you get a pretty nice ship for free too which can really help with the ship combat part.
Amazing class A ship with all super high tier components. 29 power
Nice. I'm going to grind towards that one. I've had to quickly tab on a planet to bypass pirates I can't quite kill…
Yah man that ship is damn good.
I'm still using that ship, albeit modified to my liking. Got rid of the brig and the nacelle pylons/struts. Stuffed in a research lab and workshop and even some extra cargo, it's a damn good ship for working towards higher pilot level. Fairly roomy, too.
Im doing it rn bro im so glad to hear its good
Does doing the whole quicksave, attack the vendor, load the quicksave loop work like it did in previous BGS games?
From what I can tell, yes
Making money is pretty easy in Starfield. Once you finish the faction quest lines you get access to really easy radiant quests that are really quick and pay pretty well
I found a thing with one of the vendors in New Atlantis. If you are a diplomat with the barter(or whatever it's called) skill you can sell stuff to them and buy it back for less than they paid you can repeat it till you have all of their credits.
24 hours has always worked for me for the refresh. Given I don't do the 23:55 option but the 25hour one (noticed it didn't work on the 23:55 one).
I think there's some confusion with the local time versus the universal time, 24 universal does the refresh, but local time changes wildly.
So when you wait for "1 hour" of local time on Venus, it's actually waiting for *100 HOURS UNIVERSAL TIME!*
So the people who think it's 24 hours to reset the vendors probably did that the first time and they happened to be on a planet with more than a 2:1 ratio of UT:LT.
@@eXponentia Just becareful of Contraband hiding on that ship when you try to sell it and get scanned.
Wait. So you can set the difficulty to very hard before entering, change back to normal and get the very hard loot?
yeah. works with any load zone. load in on hardest difficulty, change back to normal (or easiest even) and the loot stays the same. including the gear the enemies have. i HATE that i know this, and now you know. sorry.

I haven’t experienced stacking with the scan jammers but I have experienced stacking with the comspike and conduction grid unique ship parts from the crimson fleet so I would assume the scan jammers can stack as well. And if you ever forget you have contraband on you ship without a shielded cargo hold and you’re getting scanned you can still land on the planet without getting scanned you just can’t land in the main city HOWEVER you can’t take off from the planet and go back to orbit or they’ll attempt to scan you again so you have to go into your systems map and choose the wolf system and set course from the planets surface to sell your contraband at the Den
Trying to farm the club / bar place for contraband, do i need to wait outside the system or can i just sleep on my ship and wait for 7 days?
Fun fact; if you warp into a new system and get hit with a target scan, if you warp before it finishes scanning you can evade the faction there. The bounty placed on you is only like 1000, so cheap to remove.
You just answered my question of why did I have a ~800 credits bounty from the UC.
They just showed up while I was out like the Legion ambush squad in NV and I got scared

Question, doing this, does it affect status with the crimson fleet? I got about half way through the crimson fleet missions before doing the rangers and I want to make sure it doesn’t screw up my crimson progress

I read somewhere that you can simply drop contraband on the floor of your ship and fly through the scanners b/c it is specifically looking in your inventory / cargo holds and not at the interior of your ship itself. Don't know how well this works (or if it was later patched) as I've not tried it myself.
Your videos are always top notch and very informative. Thank you

@1:10 I prefer planets going down on me😊
So I waited for 7 in game days and the casino loot didn’t respawn. Is there a certain way you have to do it? Like do you have to be in a different solar system?
When you do the quest for the artifact on akilla if you enter the cave on very hard there's a contraband chest inside. I opened it once and there were threee stacks of 10 inside. Also a great way to check if the scan jammers stack is with the Mantis. Default it has a 69% chance to evade. with the duel frequency jammer that gpes up to 77%
if you get scanned do you automatically lose contraband immediately? or do you have time to jump away as soon as it starts?
you can jump away and get a bounty

Hi Tag, for extra cash on that station you can access the computer opposite the 3x safe and get the jackpot code. Local time = Depends on the planet ( just like Interstellar movie )
UT (Universal Time) = Actual time you need to take into consideration
Vendors respawn their stuff 48 Hours Universal Time,
so you do the math, some planents or moons have 1 hour local time = 12 hours/24 hours Universal time
Some others, 1 hour local time = 1 hour Universal time
Always take this into consideration for some stuff you guys might be doing
Sometimes if u register while still in space or the planet itll be less then doing it at the authority.
is it posible to take over a ship and use its parts to make you current ship better?
Why do I need to scan jammers when I have shielded cargo? I thought shielded cargo prevented the contents inside from being scanned.
Not immune to scanning. Just 50% scanning jam.
i think the 24 hours part is because they stay at a planet that have a different time than the UC time, cause when you wait you can see in the clock 2 time zone separately.
And one day one Atlantis is like 50 hours so the vendor reset. I like to go to Jemison vercantile and sell all my random stuff and buy resource and ammo, then run to the cafe next door and sit on the chair right outside the door and wait for a full 24 hours. And it can't be 24 hours cause i did that on The Den and it only said 24 hours and i have to wait 2 time for the TA guy to restocked.

Damn missed the contraband. Is ship inventory unique to each ship? I can't tell they all look the same but if it is should you sell all cargo then the ship for extra money?
Swear i could sell a ship without registering it. Or got charged automatically
I went to the red mile to get the shielded cargo modules out onto my new eagle. No problems with that, what I didn’t see was the tier 2 scan jammers. I went and upgraded my star ship design to 2 and they still don’t show up.
There is a bug in the Razor leaf where if you are upstairs in the weapon storage the weapon lockers mounted on the walls if you put a weapon there and leave and come back it will disappear I have lost 2 legendary weapons because of that.

As long as there’s no witnesses left you will be fine.
Make sure not to stealth too much and go back to hidden because then you technically left witnesses alive, and when you finish killing them the initial bounty you had before becoming hidden again will stay, it is dumb
Just do the crimson fleet quest it pays you 250k credits
If your in the crimson fleet you can pick up their missions to hunt ships. They have a kiosk
Y’all some real ones, thanks 🤙🏻
Also selling contraband to the Trade Authority and then buying it back before you leave the menu “launders” said contraband making it contraband no longer. You buy it back for the same amount you you originally sold it for so no money lost either. One caveat it needing to go to Wolf or some other planet/station you don’t get scanned
How to get rich fast 1. Luck sack into the 50% reduced weight of weapons stat on a piece of gear, 2. Kill. 3. Sell everything. Can easily get 100k or even 200k worth of inventory if you have the max weight perks and magazines.
The wait time is based off the universal time so for example Venus if you wait one hour on planet it is actually 100 hours of universal time so pay attention to the UT number for the waiting time that is wait the vendor resupply is based on

Blue crate with lights on it
You didn't mention you can get the jackpot combination from the computer in the first loot room to enter into the computer by the contraban cache for more credits.

Any updates if the jammer stacks % if you add up to 3 or 4?
I could be wrong but from what I'm understanding in my own testing they do stack but not how you think. For example if you have two of them at 50%, it's not going to be 100% chance to shield it's going to be 75% chance. The reason why is the first one will drop it to a 50% chance to get caught. The second one will then take that 50% and drop it by 50% meaning you now have a 25% chance to get caught.
Jammer: I bout 2 multi and got 77% chance, but when i equipped a 3rd, it dropped to 65%, any thoughts? i cant land to deliver the bloody package.
I don’t see those links anywhere in the description
i need help.
O wow I never realised this
