EDIT: Upgrading Sense Star Stuff to a B+ overall (S for stealth builds), the stealth community has spoken and I'm willing to upgrade SSS's status. I still think Void Form is the superior stealth skill but for anyone who doesn't like having to manually scan for enemies SSS is a solid pick, but it's still not even close as good as some of the other powers and that's why I can't justify putting it any higher.
What Starborn power do you think is best or worst? The video rankings are my personal opinion after hours of testing but I'm sure you'll have different opinions, which is totally cool, share your thoughts!
I've seen some great suggestions on additional use cases for powers and would love to hear more! I'm sure some more niche uses of powers would make them rank higher for more specific playstyles (SSS being a prime example).
Also great callout from a couple people on how precognition shows walking paths of NPCs. Definitely useful but easily outshined by many other powers.
Huge shoutout to @LXTROUBLE for timestamping while I was away, you rock!

Grav wave is good. Right at the end of your explanation you use it and it hits the first guy, but also travels pretty far knocking a person down in the back too. Its range is pretty far, lets you knock down a whole squad at once. Great for enclosed areas, hallways, or just any clumped up enemies. The shield is also really good for shotgun/melee builds as well. Really helps you get very close.

Void form can be pretty powerful for snack builds, especially paired with chameleon suit or helmet mod. This means that while one doesn't work when moving, the other does. Alternatively, when one wears off from doing an action, the other stays in effect so long as crouched and not moving. For this reason they pair well together.

I think there may be some heavy playstyle bias. The powers you liked least are all super useful for stealth plays.
Sense Star Stuff has been gone over in plenty of other responses, but I was just redoing Ryujin and again, I used it to get a sense of where the patrols were and were looking before opening doors/vents.
Precognition will show you their patrol path which is awesome in some of the cramped areas especially - and can let you know if someone intends to move at all - no one wants to wait for a spotter who has no intention of patrolling.
Which brings us to Gravity Wave - knocking items over away from you makes noise that enemies will go investigate. I used this when one stubbornly resisted Manipulation. Some of the other gravity spells register as attacks or call more attention to the cast. Anti-grav Field has the aggroing problem. Gravity Well can also sometimes work, but you need the NPC outside of its range or they stay on alert for way longer.

Some people though said you can’t. Others said you certainly can. I haven’t gotten far enough yet to Vladimir to check (I’m on the way now). My question is about Starborn ships though in NG+. Can you come across any other Starborn ships while exploring like you did in your first run? And can you steal them? This is a great guide, it is just a shame that after the first run the temples are not unlocked so that a Starborn player could actually create a "build" specific to their playstyle or desires instead of basically being forced to level them all every time--but alas, we have what we have. Thanks for this information!

I've figured out a consistent way to get all temples in each run. You will want to talk to Vladimir 3 separate times during the skip NG+. The first time is before collecting any of the artifacts, second being after you've collected everything and spoken to Sarah, lastly you can collect the rest after completing Revelation. You need to find Vladimir at the Lodge for the final missions. I'm on NG+ 8 and I've got 120 hours on that save. My most used power is Sense Star Stuff, which I reflexively use to check where the enemies are. It's super useful in finding Starborn, as they show up in blue rather than white.

Great video... I have been using personal atmo, void form and star stuff way more regularly than I thought I would. I occasionally will see that I have a bunch of enemies grouped up behind a wall... then switch to antigrav and come around the corner with a shotgun and delete the whole group.
I think Bethesda did a great job with these... maybe a handful that seem redundant and a a handful that need a tweak or cost reduction.

My fav powers are Void Form, Grav Dash, Solar Flare, and Supernova for trash mobs, I sometimes use the other skills but those are my most used ones. I wish there was a separate favorite wheel for powers instead of having everything on one shared favorite hotkeys. But a lot of the other powers could use some buffs because most of them are just useless later game.

      Bethesda is terrible at scaling.
Oblivion where unarmed doesn't scale. Skyrim where unarmed doesn't scale. Starfield where unarmed doesn't scale.
      Skyrim where magic doesn't scale.
Starfield where certain weapon classes don't scale. The only laser heavy weapons are the mining laser and the arc welder. None of the tools have higher tier classes.
And when they do manage to scale anything, it usually gets overpowered, such as Skyrim smithing weapon improvements, resto loop, Starfield advanced tier weapons basically one shooting everything.

I can absolutely see Phased Time being great for pick pocketing. I hadn't used pick pocketing much in older BGS games unless needed but I am at lvl3 now and have most things; credits, ammo, meds around 70-80% with lvl4 boosting the % chance by 30%+ I will be able to take all the ammo and credits I want and being able to slow time I feel will be very powerful with threading the needle on the time that I'm "hidden" in order to swipe the goods.

With Gravity Wave I found it pretty useful for Starborne enemies you come across after temples, They do really high damage in a short burst. With gravity wave you can stun lock and kill them easily.

I have a question about the Terrormorph clip at the beginning. I am doing a lot of side quests right now in my first NG+ and I am getting about 100 - 200 XP for completing the entire quest which might take about 30 minutes depending on dialog etc but I noticed that some aliens give 80 - 150 XP per kill and Terrormorphes even up to 400 on my lower levels. Am I missing something or is questing just not meant to give XP ? Is killing the best way to get XP apart from doing some exploits in your outpost ?

    • @unclemumble
      @unclemumble  Год назад +3

Great question, and this is one of my biggest issues with the game. Combat is basically the only viable way to level aside from making xp farms on outposts. If you're not killing high level enemies (ships or NPCs) your just aren't gonna get a lot xp. It's a huge bummer and I wish they gave way more xp to lockpicking, persuasion, etc :/

For me when using Phased Time if I try to open a door it'll bug the game where I'll be stuck in slow-mo, unable to shoot, sometimes stuck floating in the air, and have to reload a save prior to using the power.
