oh I completely disagree with #4. All the Constellation characters basically share a hive mind when it comes to their personalities and likes/dislikes with how you handle things. While there are others you can have go with you, none of them have fully developed stories making them just not too bright mobile storage spaces that occasionally take a few bullets from you. As far as hiring crew members is concerned, if you are trying to make your ship ridiculous in one way or another, you can hire multiple random crew members that have ship specialties and make your ship crazy good. You could also hire a bunch of dudes for your outposts to make them better

8:00 LOL, botany is a cool skill since it allows you to build outpost that produces organic material that may not be very expensive, but it is relatively light so you can store tons of it on ship and sell it. Not to mention that some stuff like lubricant is not easy to get. There are far more useless skills.
Also you can create nutrient, wich in turns help you create Luxury Textiles to craft high-end decorations. You need both botany and the animal one, with a outpost link and your in buisness
yea dudes clearly just another cod player who jumped in this and thought “damn theres not much to kill” and uninstalled lmao. completely failed to mention any sort of building mechanics or anything besides mechanics relating to combat and questlines
@@kadgeanddrum2304 Speaking about nutrients, if you are into XP farming, nutrients are good way to farm XPs with recipes that requires them because unlike mining, botany is not really limited by mineral deposits so you can pretty much cover whole outposts with them.
I disagree with #5 & 8. The hire able crew that have actual names all have their own backstory you can talk to them about, they do comment on the galaxy around you (just not as much as the Constellation crew), and about 1/3 of them are morally "flexable" and won't get pissed of with theft and random murder. Also you pass a persuade check you can cut their hiring fee in half and 10k credits or less is peanuts in this game after your first few hours. Higher ranked Commerce skill also cuts down their recruitment fee. Picking the wrong skill isn't a hindrance so much as it is hiccup. There's no hard level cap so if you think you picked the wrong skill you can always grind out another one in short order.
What I found annoying was that I did the Ryujin quest line solo, with all companions back at the Lodge. I helped Ryujin complete the [spoiler] and had one installed myself (loving it!👍). But when I finished the last quest in the line, everyone from Constellation gave me a rash of shit!! How do they even know what I did for Ryujin? They weren’t even in the same star system when I did the quests! And I didn’t give my name when speaking to SSNN either.
That is strange! Nobody has even once judged me for the Ryujin shenanigans I got up to. I still find it odd myself tbh. I took Andreja with me for most of the Ryujin quests and it was a piece of cake for me since I'd already invested in the God-Like Persuasion skill.
@@Benjamin-rm2nt I suppose it was patched and actually no one of your companions judge you for any final fraction decisions. In my first playtrough constellation members which you can have as companions (Barret, Sam, Andreja, Sara) judged me (positive or negative) for my final decision in UC Vanguard Quest/Freestar Ranger Quest and Ryujin even if they weren't with me when i made that quest. I suppose the same could happen when you finished crimson fleet storyline. It was stupid. In my second playtrough (in some point i started from beginning because i wanted dream house and this stupid "psycho-fan" XD) they completely ignore my decisions in these quests lines and in the meantime game was patched that's why i suppose it's the reason of this change. Anyway after you finish all of their personal quests they're useless, stupid with their AI and annoying especially with their comments when you overloaded (Sara got a shot in her chest everytime when she said something about my weight which happened very often 🤣🤣 ) Sorry for my bad english
Unfotunately, companions are a pain. They "glue" to you and this is very annoying. Being very close, they prevent scanning, you have to move away all the time. They often bitch and Sarah even shouts at you if you try to carry too much. Every new game, Bethesda does the same mistake, they give us bad companions. And do not forget that they always get in front of you when you are shooting or even mining. Any other game company gives us interesting companions.
I let Tomisar live, thinking that it might lead to another quest/mission later on in the game. No big deal, as I don't like his robe, but might have missed out on other unique loot, Oh well!,... There's tons of loot in the game, so missing a few items. is ok with me. I went with Wanted, Dream Home and Kid's stuff as my 3 traits and have zero regrets. As far as skills go, I will have all of them long before I finish playing my long, long, long and nearly endless playthrough, as in one playthrough, because I have zero interest in game plus, at least as it was planned out and set-up in this game.
After completing all side quests and getting to the end where they want you to play it over and over to be able to complete it, I realized my worst decision was buying Starfield.
In my main game I only have 1left over because the empathy one became terrible because I was killing too many random people, but for people you hire that won’t be an issue. I mean you won’t get a buff either so that trait didn’t matter at all, neither did the alien bio trait
In NG+, in your first conversation with your romance-able companions, if you say you want to keep your distance then you cannot romance them in that universe
I never use followers. I played through Fallout 3 without even knowing it was an option. But I hate the idea of them dying so I let them live on peacefully.
I'm mostly lone wolf because the skill perks make me tougher. I only take a companion along to have the game spawn their mission and to hitch up with Sarah. On my ship, after all the missions are done, I carry one defence specialist, payload specialist, damage control specialist, and one fusion specialist... besides keeping Sarah around for her perks while not even counted as one of the crew. You can only have a relationship with one, and the dialogue with constellation members is irritating. I much prefer having only Sarah and the 4 specialists. Play the game as much as I have and you'll change your mind on some of these points you make.
People keep playing Starfield like its a damn live service game and then proceed to complain that its boring and easy. Well duh, when you exploit the XP glitch, use the most OP weapons and armor combo. Gear out your Companion to be a demigod. Then you use the most OP powers... Of course its going to trivialise the game. Ive been really enjoying role playing as a Va'ruun Ronin.
Just watched this. So I've found that Sarah could care less if you have polyamorous tendencies, though Andreja wants to be exclusive. I found that if I break up with Sarah and pursue Andreja to the end, I can then go back to Sarah. Andreja will get mad and after a persuasion check, she claimed she would leave next time we are at port, but she doesn't. So I am currently with both and hold both of their commitment gifts. I haven't tested any of the guys because I only pursue female characters. It also seems like you were able to do the same based off of 4:18.
Those "useless" skills became useful in higher levels. Yes, don't put early points into botany, but if you are going to build a manufacturing empire, you'll need those organic resources.
I disagree with Lonewolf and traits. For me I don't look at the positive and negative I choose traits based off who my character is. As I play a character not a game.
hire able companions have a lot more personality than the constellation companions. They also all have at least 1 useless skill and most of their skills are ones you're going to get yourself minimizing their usefulness as well. The named hirable companions all have fleshed out backstories and distinctive personalities, the romance is also a joke in terms of role-play. The hirable companions are there to help flesh out your crew and give you role-play variety, if your presenting opinions please make that clear so you don't discourage new players from trying those things for themselves. This my opinion obviously.
Nah, you can heal out side of combat by putting a single mod on your pack, so no real reason to use skill points. Meanwhile Botany allows you to make alien liquor, which is more convenient to sell than any manufactured goods, because it weighs less.
I'm about 400 hrs in now and i'm already going back to skyrim and fallout now and then... starfield feels empty somehow. Theres no soul. It just lacks the feeling of experiencing new dialogues and exploring new things after awhile, it kind of feels repetitive relatively quickly.
Disagree with Nr 8: too many players, you included, are minmaxing so the game becomes easier. Whenever really roleplaying however, it is often the negatives, the quirks or the less than perfect stats that make the game much more interesting and fun. I started improving my culinary skills from the very beginning and have had a lot of fun levelling up my cooking and mixing skills. This has even improved my ‘real’ skills behind the 8:21 bar mixing drinks (similar to the series ‘Zombie’ where Rose, being a Zombie picks up the traits and interests of the brains she eats in the morgue where she works that day). Also, sucking at something can be fun.
I'm not even half way through the game. I'm still STUCK in a building. On creep,, with a suicidal robot. ,,, trying to kill these guys in space suits,, ,, with a terrible lazer gun,,, and a empty sniper rifle ,,, WHAT DO I DO. 😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕
Are you kidding me? The followers have gotten _better_ somehow? In this game they will literally walk into your mining laser while you're using it. They still move into your line of fire while you are actively shooting and I can count all the times any of them actually killed an enemy on one hand. The only thing they are any good for is being on your ship crew, otherwise they are less than useless. They can't sneak, they go full agro at the first opportunity and are then actively counterproductive in combat. They are the worst set of companions in any Bethesda game to date. Despite the decent voice actors they are blandly written and unengaging to top off their uselessness.
I cheated on Sarah with Andreja. That forced the marriage to break, but I was able to woo Sarah back even after marrying Andreja. So, you can be married to both.
I let Tomisar live because, probably reading/thinking to much into it, I didn't want Andreja to be branded a traitor. She'd not only be hunted by her people (or anyone they hired) but she'd never be able to go back home (and potentially be with her family). She'd lose her one connection to figuring out where her home planet is. I was also hoping the threat of being reported would, potentially, allow Tomisar to be blackmailed into helping out Andreja. Probably none of that is going to happen (or even matter) and I should have just let Andreja kill him. If I do a second playthrough I'm going to let her kill him..and she's going to be my wife..gotta make the wife happy now don't we? :D
Wait what? Paying for crew members is not a bad thing at all. Especially when those crew members have skills the free ones DON'T.. Because what's the point with them having 4 skills if none are relevant to your playstyle?
I married Sarah and Sam, and depending on who was my running partner on each mission, they both slept with me and neither seemed bothered by the double marriage.
I successfully married all four companions at the same time in one of my runs just to prove I could do it. Barry was the biggest pain in the ass to get into bed.
I married Sarah and Andreja at the same time. Had to marry Andreja 1st and once I married Sarah, Andreja was pissed, but with a successful persuade she was ok. And then everyone was happy! Lol
The bit about followers comes with a big asterisk. Only Constellation members are are quest-aware or will comment on POIs. The other named companions (Ezekiel, Betty Howser, Mickey Caviar, etc) do not do this.

"virtually impossible to anger your companion." Okay I never do this but I have to ask have you actually played starfield? I'm constantly pissing off sarah because I had the audacity to so much as care for another individual safety. Not want to make an old man suffer a heart attack. Help someone who is innocent clear their name. Not release a deadly virus that has a chance of killing everyone and thing. It's kind of impossible to not piss them off. However I do agree lone Wolf is not the best pick because you can either get the adoring fan who can carry a lot of stuff and doesn't get pissed off at the slightest care for human life or vosco a companion you don't actually have to care about gearing up.
Really wrong with Empath, it is really, really easy to piss off your companions. You don't have to blow up colony ships to do it, just go against the way they present themselves and instant hate.
given the character depth of these characters going lone wolf actually would be better. They all act holier than thou and their moral spectrum is jacked all the way to good that they are incapable of seeing any shade of grey.

Wait is that andreja and Sarah in the unity? Can you marry them both at the same time? And not hiring companions is the dumbest advice. If they have shield boost or fusion skills put em on your ship. You can have 9 crew members on your ship. Vasco Barret Sam and Sarah are a must. The other 5 you can stack shields and fusion and have better shields and more power slots to allocate
Yes you can. You have to marry andresia first, and then persuade her is to have asking for a second chance. You can then go on and marry Sam, and Barrett, doing exactly the same thing. I actually pulled it off in one of my runs.
You can, I married both at the same time, but you need to marry Andreja 1st, then Sarah, and then need to pass a persuade with Andreja and then all is well! I left 1 at the lodge and the other on my ship, so whenever I would sleep I would get that bonus Stat from either location!
Number 6 rushing the main story.. I remember months ago, a lot of people were doing that just to get to New game Plus.. look up some kind of special magical thing.. no. The original playthrough is the best part.. that is my opinion. Everything you want to do everything that you discover.. in the original universe, it's all authentic.. everything else Is just copies on copies.. I may be wrong but who cares. I just think genuine starfield is in the original story and everything it contains.
#5 hired crew: yeah, just don't do it. Unless you want to go pirating and don't want to hear Sarah complain, hired ship crew aren't worth it. There are some higher level NPC's out there you can recruit as well, and they are more worth it. Unnamed crew disappear completely if you downsize your ship for any reason. Ie go from a crew size of 8 to 2, and 4 of the crew will get kicked out. if they are unnamed, hired crew, they will just stay gone and you've lost your investment. They no longer show up in the crew management screen to be reassigned. Whereas, named crew, even non-Constellation members, will just go back to where you found them and can be re-assigned.
If you want to scan 8 plants instead of 4 I guess botany is useless. Unless you literally don’t want to explore any of the worlds, this is a HUGE time saver. Plus I see you have skills in intimidation, etc. literally the only value is manipulation which you get for free. You’re MUCH better off using those skill points on zoo and bot to save time and make loot. Both with slates and outposts. Come on man

it isnt guaranteed that its going to be sarah.. they killed my wife because i hadn't gotten close to anyone BUT her.. Full on went awol together... Then, when she was gone.. barett basically pushed my character out the way and acted like she mattered more to him than she did to my character. Then, seconds later.. immediately hands me some fetch quest about HIS dead partners apartment from a decade prior... While we are still standing over wife's freshly unalived body.. Which btw, HE convinced me to not help her and stay at the lodge.. Needless to say, any characters annoying after that... Wont lie... Ive wanted barett dead since then. But since its not going to naturally happen, im stuck with him. My advice? If they annoy you, marry them first and stay loner like i did outside of that marriage.. Its for the best. Dont pick "the one" just yet..
Yeah but so called bad decisions makes it more interesting. On a separate note, I wish companions would stop throwing grenades at me, they're like the worst grenade throwers ever...I really should stop equipping them with throwables. Also, Sam is a prick.
@@XXveny I didnt know about xp farming, I have 6 nutrient building on my farm linked to my other outpost that create luxury textile, pretty efficient
The super fan rated you out
@@Benjamin-rm2nt
I suppose it was patched and actually no one of your companions judge you for any final fraction decisions.
Anyway after you finish all of their personal quests they're useless, stupid with their AI and annoying especially with their comments when you overloaded (Sara got a shot in her chest everytime when she said something about my weight which happened very often 🤣🤣 )
Sorry for my bad english
Unfotunately, companions are a pain. They "glue" to you and this is very annoying. Being very close, they prevent scanning, you have to move away all the time. They often bitch and Sarah even shouts at you if you try to carry too much. Every new game, Bethesda does the same mistake, they give us bad companions. And do not forget that they always get in front of you when you are shooting or even mining. Any other game company gives us interesting companions.
Where do you get those black pants and tops the ladies are wearing, or are they a mod?
Like anyone cares. None of them are interesting anyway.
@@DamnedSilly Far less people care about your opinion on the matter
I never use followers. I played through Fallout 3 without even knowing it was an option. But I hate the idea of them dying so I let them live on peacefully.
They don't die anymore their just going to drive you up the wall with the need to talk so much. And blocking in close quarters combat
For real. Starfield needs a Dogmeat, and Vasco ain't it.
@@cerebralhawks4544 Dogmeat was just a more complicated way to pick things up.
They can only die in New Vegas.
I am on my third NG+ its been the same universe evey time. I hope the next try is different.
Botany is pretty useful if you
1. like to scan planets and
2. like to build greenhouses
Everything is more fun with friends, as long as you like having people around who just won't shut the hell up.
hire able companions have a lot more personality than the constellation companions.
Bro what
That was an accident right? The end sentence. You didnt mean it like that? right?

Are you kidding me? The followers have gotten _better_ somehow? In this game they will literally walk into your mining laser while you're using it. They still move into your line of fire while you are actively shooting and I can count all the times any of them actually killed an enemy on one hand. The only thing they are any good for is being on your ship crew, otherwise they are less than useless. They can't sneak, they go full agro at the first opportunity and are then actively counterproductive in combat. They are the worst set of companions in any Bethesda game to date. Despite the decent voice actors they are blandly written and unengaging to top off their uselessness.
Thanks for your input 😊
I cheated on Sarah with Andreja. That forced the marriage to break, but I was able to woo Sarah back even after marrying Andreja. So, you can be married to both.
Heyyyyyy. So did yous have a 3 some. 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Hahah i cant even get them to keep talking to me, in that way it mirrors my real life exactly 😂😂😂
I dissagre about the lone wolf one, since you can give yourself a trait where you get buffed when you dont have a companion
I'm hoping the Andreja quest will be fleshed out a bit in the dlc.
Mackey caviar wearing the monster costume is the only viable companion!
The stoner monster that gives you food
the best thing about followers is that they're almost entirely optional...
The companions are far too annoying! Lone Wolf is the way to go.
Every. Time I get into. A space. Fight. I get. Blown up. Literally. Parts. Go every where. , , I'm a rotten. Captain ,,, ,

Where did you get those black outfits for the ladies in the video? I'm unable to locate fashions of that sort. Thanks, the video is awesome.
they are the "ROGUE - Big Booty Outfit" for andreja and sarah
Even you aren't that quest aware when you meet yourself later on.

I can't have segs with you? Nope, that's where I draw the line... 😂
I went to a planet full of clones of famous people when I was on there
I disagree on the crew members as there are also "crew members" for your planetary settlements.
Until you’re starborn 10+ and you can pretty much unlock every skill and play the game like you’re some ancient Jedi god. Like doing the terramorph quest and selecting the starborn answers made me laugh so hard because they treat you like these aren’t the droids you’re looking for😂😂😂
Not going to say which choice I made regarding Tomisar, but I will say it has no impact on the game. A lost opportunity for Bethesda within this game.
I play alone whenever I can. Couldn't wait for Barrett to leave me alone.
Worst decision would be playing this game, even worse if you bought it. Second worst is convincing yourself its fun and groundbreaking.
Here's my top 3 : Buying the game. Installing the game. Playing the game.
Why are you even here then?
@@goldeneye1357 So people stop giving a pass to such a lazy company in the hopes Bethesda raise their standards for TES 6.

You can't stack crew's skills. Only the best skills is added to yours.
Mistake one buying the game. Mistake two thinking Bethesda was making a good game.
Actually the 2 Worst decisions for Starfield are buying it in the first place and buying the Constellation edition.
The relationships are SO lacking in this game and its an opportunity for Bethesda to fix that with DLC
FYI, you can spare Tomasar and then kill him with no negative results
Yeah sam coe was so disappointed in me I didn't realise he couldn't stay mad at me 😂

Come on man

So is making the decision that lets Sarah die a bad one? I don't know, I was kind of getting tired of her nagging.
it isnt guaranteed that its going to be sarah..
they killed my wife because i hadn't gotten close to anyone BUT her..
