for those struggling to find "habs" you need to select "ship builder" and not "upgrade ship" then when in an open space you can select "add" to have the option to cycle through to "habs"

An alternative to the science lab hab (if you don't really want the pharma station) is the computer core, which gives you one extra crew slot and three storage containers (two lockers and a chest).
How do you even get the science lab.
@@TheVoyagers. So if you go to the ship vendor by the kiosk, go into the ship building menu part of the upgrade screen. Once there, push A or whatever your interact button is on the empty part of the grid and it brings up menus to add modules that are available
Only thing I hate about storage containers on ships is that everything gets moved to cargo when you modify your ship.

I'm 30 to 40 hours in and some of these tips were super useful (the ship weapons and the landing NPC ship ones for example.)

for some reason my ship is the same power level even after all those upgrades I tries moving the ships weapons tabs and its the same power. Suggestions?

Hands down this was one of the most clean-cut explanations on ship building. They should have put this as their tutorial on how to build and customize ships.
It's Xbox (they don't do things that make sense!). Haven't played this, but Starfield looks pretty impressive 👌

On PC, double left click to select all for your ship. The game doesn't tell you for some reason.

Idk if you guys need this information anymore, but you can completely delete every part of the mantis and rebuild it how you want and it'll keep the perk

When in 'ship builder' move the cursor off the ship and you should get the 'add' option. Which will bring it up. 😊

Is this something you have to unlock? I'm on PC and cannot see a "habs" section....
A lot of great advice, didn't know about the remote ship access as example...that's a game changer for sure. That said, is there a reason you went "turtle" instead of "train"? If you line the pods up behind your hab, you have a lot more mounting space. You can swap the under-slung storage 210 bays for the side mounted 300's...and if you want to put more into upgrading your engines, you can actually do more, as well.

Am I missing something? Cause I can't pick anything outside the main ship components. Do I need to do a mission, or unlock a skill??

@@ThislsaGoodldeaI was in the same boat as well. I think you need to delete whatever your looking to replace first and then the option to add will pop up which brings you to the shop
I thought so too, but there should be a button or key to press labeled "add". Make sure nothing is selected and you should see the options at the bottom right, then you can pick from these categories he mentioned
Hey anyone lol. Where do you do this at? When I go into the ship builder at a port there are no parts available for these modifications. Is there a specific planet spaceport that you have to do this at?

Is it just me or are the controls for the ship builder kind of awful. I also dislike the fact you can’t rotate stuff, just flip. Should of asked the devs that did Crossout for some tips or something.
Yeah its really sucks rather pathetic ship building, still good game though.
I was so frustrated with the ship builder. It's not intuitive at all. Thanks for giving me exactly what I needed to know. Cargo was my main goal but now i can do even more stuff
Moving the weapons from the top to the bottom attachment is impossible with the mouse and keyboard. I had to switch between the controller to bring my weapons down the Y axis enough to attach to my ship lol..
Edit: user error, on the right side there's a bar with Q and R being how you raise or lower your Y axis.
Could you do one for the Mantis? I love the special dialogue you get using the Mantis, but the cargo space leaves much to be desired. Thank you!

God this is so clean cut and straight to the point. I want to upgrade the frontier to get the feel for ship design and this is exactly the tutorial I needed!

Followed your guide but I am getting errors when adding the extra weapons. I could only add one extra of the cannons. Anyone got any ideas?
just duplicate the cargo hold , don't buy another, also add port hole covers to the front to make it look nicer & u can also look out the front
HELP PLEASE!!For whatever reason the tech at New Atlantis doesn't have hull upgrades or HABS upgrades. It's really just weapon or shield. I've been trying to get more cargo on my ship for hours and I can't figure it out. HELP PLEASE
Same.. I can't find Habs section.. Totally lost from the get go.
drag cursor off the ship, and an "add" option should appear alongside options and exit etc. Click that and navigate to HABS etc.@@allenstroughdjsmoke8412

Thank you! This was a very helpful video. I had a lot of trouble attaching the new weapons to their hardpoints. It was impossible to simply snap them in place under the access ramp. Instead I found that hovering over the ramp with the cursor brought up an "attach" option, which I selected, then selected the weapon to place there. That will probably be good info for anyone having difficulty getting their ship parts to snap to the intended location. Thanks again and safe travels!
I have found the same configuration elsewhere but guess what? Yours was, by far, the clearest and most useful step by step guide I have found. The bit about clicking on the pods (or whatever they are called) until they came up as what I want would have saved me an hour of raving at the screen if I had come to you first. Good work!

What happens to the cargo when you switch ships? Does it come with you? Do you lose it if the new ship doesn't have enough cargo space?
You don't lose it, but obviously can't store anything new until you add cargo pods, get a new ship with more cargo space, or sell/use some of it.
One tip - Use the infirmary instead of the science lab in the first step. Science lab gives pharma bench and bonus galley. Infirmary gives phrama bench and research lab.
The science lab also comes with a research lab I think you missed it. Also the ship comes with a research station anyways so this would be irrelevant
Biggest wow moment was the 3 water from the asteroid. I'll never go thirsty now.
I followed your tutorial making this which I think it's very much the best video to upgrade the frontier. I think adding an additional shield was the only thing I added but that's my preference. Great video 👍🏻

Can u make one how to do this with the mantis especially and star eagle if it makes sense ? My mantis looks like ass but I pulled this off with it minus all the weapons…but it’s bugged tho and anytime I try to edit it further it says something isn’t attached (but nothing was changed and i can fly around in it just fine)

On Xbox I can’t figure out how to buy stuff to install on the ship.
You gotta move the cursor away from the ship, then click ‘A’ or whatever the interact button is for you.

Very useful info. Glad I didn’t sell the default ship because they only offered me like 5 grand for it. You should do an upgrade tutorial for the Mantis!

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for your video. I was able to finish the Freestar Mission that requires taking out about 7 pirate ships that I was failing miserably on. After upgrading the stock ship I was finally able to pass this mission and I am also more confident now in my ship building abilities. I was hoping to get my free ship from finishing the Freestar quest line before upgrading anything, but with this tutorial I was able to destroy all the pirates and hijack one of their ships also during the battle so it was a win, win. Thanks again bud. 👌🏼
Game is amazing but it does feel like you just fast travel everywhere and are using the menu way too much. Need a local map too, like how do you have this detailed of a game and no local map?

Think so, he fixed for example the first part where it was necessary to install a new grav drive.

If you're having Mass problems.. you have to delete the old pieces that aren't being used... I guess its common sense since no one, except me, was confused by this lol

1) What am I collecting stuff for when I have such a limited storage capacity (ie when I'm full, my partners full, and the ship's full)?
2) Is there a depot (maybe a storage workbench like FO4) where I can stash my stuff?

I'm at level 24, have almost 300K and only upgraded 2 parts in the first ship. Ship building is so overwhelming. Wandering if I should make this model or having so much money I should do something else. I enjoy the game and playing but not so much spending countless hrs Ship building. Also is there one rounded Ship I could just buy with out having to spend so much time upgrading? Thanks.
Majestic Space Turtle" I almost spit out my coffee. I'm going to build up my Frontier to look just like the Space Turtle. Just from that I'm subscribing. Love it, also see what you can do with the Razorleaf, the ship from the Mantis side quest
Starfeild is such an amazing and beautiful game I might be playing for years to come. But I have to make sure not play it too much otherwise I might burn out on it like I did with Skyrim around 2015 or 2016.
I figured out some of the stuff in the ship modifier by myself but found out after I was done that I couldn’t customize the inside of the ship manually and I bought two sleeping quarters by mistake. So thanks for helping with that.
Very good tutorial BUT there's something non completelly correct: if you conquer a landed ship by killing all the members on it does not necessary meany you can get ownership of that ship.
I jumped on board of a ship and kill everyone, waited 10 hours to be sure none of the crew members has returned but if i try to pilot the ship i keep getting the message ""You''re not authorized to pilot this ship".
Starfield is a amazing game but you will get burnt out eventually. I have over 100 hours in lol. But I’m still power throughout it, learning new stuff.. like this.. 😆 Game does a poor job at explaining a lot of things tbh.

It's far away and I can't figure out how to wrap there!! Frustrating really. Anyone know what I can do? I'd appreciate it

I was wondering about this video because whenever I tried to do the build you showed kept saying that I had to boost the jump drive And then I had to find a place to put the jump drive and that pushed the final cause up to like 17000 credits
It's because values were different prior to the day 1 patch. Had to remake the whole thing
Checked out at "go to habs section" because you literally skipped straight through it. If someone who is completely new to the game like me, doesn't know what they're doing... which I don't, then your instructions need to more way more clear

I actually _did_ go with the Deimos habs, since I _do_ prefer how they look.
I scraped the preexisting hab for a Captain's quarters, which I put on the right side of the ship.
I ended up throwing another 200k in ship upgrades from this build. Much more mobility and cargo, plus 7 crew slots
Anyone here struggling with Ship Building when to items won't connect because they have different Y-axis coordinates?
Captains quarters had the bed, that's all I was looking for. Bethesda couldn't let you add a bed, you have to build a gigantic extra habitat, weird guys.
Do i have to add the Amun - 2 Engine to also do the weapon doubling? Amun-1 Engine isnt enough to duplicate and add the weapons you added.

You can ditch the science lab, since it's useless early game. Instead of it, I've got 2x300 cargo hold and the costs are similar.
