yeah if the "bug" include Sarah then its not a bug its intentional its the benefit she gives of having leadership 2, as the skill gives +1 additional crew slot and essential cancels herself out as an actual crew member.
Very nice tutorial, I changed my Frontier even though I don't use it anymore. Really like the design. One small note maybe, the Frontier 2x1 Hab that comes with the ship is a unique piece, might want to keep it instead of the captains quarters.
I am in my fourth Starborn universe with the original configuration of the Frontier, a classic older than the moon Discovery class ship, with only upgrades to engines, grav drive, reactor, shield, and fuel tanks, as well as weapons similar to your weapons upgrade. Frankly the Frontier has served Constellation well for fifty years as an exploration/research ship as is. Keeping her mass small keeps her nimby as well. There is no need for more storage or workstations on the Frontier for single quest missions, as there is UNLIMITED storage and all of the workstations at the lodge to hoard your loot. With her unique all in one module, with a bed and the research lab, you can build on any solid ground all of the workstations and as much storage you desire at any outpost. I have no desire to turn a 57 Chevy Belair into a Mack truck. Soon the Econohaul will be available at one star port for less than a hundred thousand credits with better than you can build upgraded weapons, engines, grav drive, reactor, and shield as well as 2500+ cargo storage... The Econohaul will become your truck suitable to build outposts while the upgraded nimby Frontier will be your excursion ship... In my opinion adding much more MASS to the Frontier is a mistake. Two crew is sufficient to the end game, and you can carry more passengers that aren't crew. Sometimes smaller is better...
I should have noted. The main cost was going from 2-4 engines. Most of the habs and structural pieces were not very expensive. Weapon swap is optional. I want to say around $40k ish
@SparkleBurst If you shopped around you could have bought a Econohaul with 2500+ cargo storage for less than 100k... She will have all of the upgrades to make her useful while upgrading the Frontier early won't have the upgrades to make her as useful...
On the weapons front, I would defo add some suppressors early game. You get much more loot boarding and looting a ship than you do blowing it up, and you can just keep your suppressors powered down until you need them so you don’t have to worry about maxing out your power
Its been my experience there is TOO MUCH LOOT, and too many loot far too much... I just loot guns, ammo, and health items, leaving everything else behind as I do desire to become over encumbered. If I need money at the start of this game, I scan/research every gas giant planet throughout the universe quickly within a couple of hours. Walter Shroud's pockets are deep, and Vladmir pays twice as much as anyone else. Furthermore, exploring all of the planets and moons for flora and fauna I can is FUN! Lots of XP is earned on top of the dough. Do all of Constellation's research missions and play a sandbox game without advancing the main quest line much... Enjoy...
Yeah, that's what I do. When you board, can even get 2 items of contraband. I grab the space and ground bounties miaaiona and maybe a delivery one if it's not out of the way. I make alot of cash quick and selling the loot/ships, easy money 😎. I have 910 cargo space and depending on misaion locations, I come back loaded. Stop off at the The Den and sell, wait, then sell again lol. I just hold on to the organic stuff for Noel at the Lodge, she pays pretty good for the stuff.
What was the cost and also what level do you need to be at to do this modifications? Some modules are level locked and you want to know the cost before starting the build. Nice job and nice video.
Great idea, rebuild the old ride to something new. Since razorleaf we have a good ship for fight, but nothing like a freighter to haul output from the outposts.
I prefer the to buy a Econohaul for less than one hundred thousand credits and keep the Frontier as is with just upgrades without adding much mass. The Frontier is very nimby when you don't turn her into a garbage scow! On the other hand the Econohaul has upgraded engines, grav drive, reactor, and weapons suitable to carry 2500+ cargo you can't get early upgrading the Frontier...
I did optimize the Frontier - made a GoldStar DREADNOUGHT from it at start of the game as soon as i had credits for it. Made a full game ship from it. And it works just fine 😮

That module saves MASS not adding a science module to replace its research lab...
a Frontier build without the Frontier Hab, is not a true Frontier. I always replace any captain’s quarters with that module
