      Yeah, but in my experience so far, they also tend to be the heaviest, at least for structural parts (lots of 8's and 10's where most others are 2's, 3's, and 5's). Not a complaint per se, but if you're looking for lighter, faster ships, you might have to forgo Stroud-Eklund, especially if you're sticking with A-class parts.

    • @dokuujin1851
      @dokuujin1851 Год назад +2

      the unfortunate thing is all the companies that LOOK good have shitty parts. And all the companies that have good parts look bad.
      Stroud/Eklund and Hopetech look fantastic, but they have terrible parts when it comes to making your ship not look like a cube.
      Taiyo has pretty rounded edges, but all of their parts are hyper specific use.
      Deimos doesn't look super great, but got the best range of parts for any build.
      Nova has really nice parts, but it's HABS are hideous.
      building without using at least 2 companies is a pain in the ass.

      @@dokuujin1851 Something I've noticed is that none of the ships you can buy seem to have only one sole manufacturer, so this would seem to be a problem in-universe too. lol
      Still holding out for DLC parts. D-rank, perhaps?
      I actually like Nova for the retro look. I used it almost exclusively to remake the Wanderwell into a cargo hauler.

    Before i start...great build.
    Been building some excellent ships over the last couple of weeks, the mods and glitches really help, although i think its just about ran its course for me, the ships with all their sophisticated HABS...don't really do anything, you can in essence have a tech heavy ship, yet its useless beyond its title ''computer Core'', great i have one...but it does nothing at all?. I think until Bethesda or modders, and i think it;ll have to be Bethesda, actually build in purpose to some of these Habs, no one's gonna bother building ships after a month or so, it becomes both tedious and pointless, and yes i understand you can have workbenches which do serve a purpose, some Research and an Armory. SF has already exceeded most's expectations and will go on to another level once the CK2 is released, really want to contribute with even a simple mode once it drops. Not being salty, its just after some time in the game, you do see its limitations in some area's.

    Nice ship but not as efficient as it could be.
    You are correct with fuel, but no issue to even go less.
    1600 shield is pointless, the 1500 is way less mass and far more efficient.
    Yes early game, 5000 plus cargo is a must especially if you are in ship combat or boarding.
    If using a 2 or 3 level ship, the double level cockpit with stairs is the most efficient as it allows no use for 1x1 connection halls and it's possible to build without any ladders.
    Shielded cargo is very mass heavy.
    As long as a player sells contraband, only one of the smallest is required.
    The contraband pirate missions are not worth the reward, only those require large shielded cargo , 390 units...again pointless because selling guns makes the most profit , any contraband you find on ships easily fit in the single smallest shielded cargo. Use pirate base equipment signal jammer for 89% evade ship scanning on your cargo searches.
    Pirates have the best three equipment for target locking as well. Those 3 are must have items on any ship .
    Landing gear.
    The large hope 55 are beasts and super cool VTOL.
    More thrust, less mass
    Your aim for that size cargo is 61 to 70 mobility.
    There are better options for engines.
    To seriously pump up your mobility, try the highest manoeuvre rated 8500 ones .
    In my testing though, you can still kill anything in game on normal with even a 30 manoeuvre rating as long as you have targeting systems skill.
    Remove shields then EM enemy weapons, missiles on adds. Board the highest rated Roman numeral enemy ship , III being the best ones.
    I'm 170 hours in game, level 58-60 unlocks the best modules.
    I tell everyone, fly to level 60-75 area, try to capture a 40 rated reactor enemy ship. Use this as your base. Preferably a Hyena III as it's parts are also very cool.
    You save hundreds of thousands on build cost.
    Please use white building parts in builder when showing builds, it's much easier to see the detail, cheers

      I've found the best engines for maneuverability to be some of the smaller ones, actually. They have a lower maneuvering thrust stat, but because they have a much lower mass and only use 2 power each you can put more of them totaling more thrust per mass per power.

    • @Nzchimeran
      @Nzchimeran Год назад

      @@Galiant2010 you are way down on manoeuvrability.
      With 6000 cargo, it's possible to have 60-65 with not even the best engines.
      You are in the 40's
      That's what I get with 8-10K cargo
      That shield you use is too much mass.
      Gotta tweak your mass more.
      1600 shield is a trap, so is shielded cargo unless you are a pirate/smuggler

    • @Galiant2010
      @Galiant2010 Год назад

      @@Nzchimeran I'm not in the 40s, I'm not the video creator.
      My ships have 90-100 mobility, currently I have 96. With 2k cargo space, including some of that being shielded, and with the 1600 shield, and 12 weapons and a full 8 crew slots. I don't need any more cargo space. And my maneuverability is basically maxed out, and my top speed is 150.
      Cargo space is the real trap. There's no need to buy into having so much.

A light fighter that’s all manual particle beams and only 1 hab, a heavy fighter that has all needed habs, 6 vanguard obliterators, 4 suppressors and 4 missile launchers, a battle cruiser that’s all turrets, max shields. I also have a cargo hauler that has only a few turrets but 51,000+ cargo space but 0 mobility. I’d say a 3rd of my playtime (3.5 days total playtime currently) is just spent on perfecting my ships.

    The aesthetics are great and the ship is built to purpose. I also agree that Stroud and Nova have the best aesthetic pieces in game. This looks a lot like a beefed up Star Eagle.
    Some things you've mentioned have me now rethinking my current rebuild of the Kepler R. The Kepler R is an ugly mess, but some great core parts for a starter C class ship.

  • @Zayphar
    @Zayphar Год назад +9

    Two significant problems with this design:
    1) You can replace all 4 of these engines at level 36 with White Dwarf 3030 Engines. This will produce 16,400 more thrust for 580 less Mass. This will cause your Top Speed to increase to 150 from your current 130, and with the increased thrust and lower mass, your Mobility will increase substantially.
    2) With the HABs you have installed, there is no bed aboard ship. This will make you lose out on the +10% XP bonus.
    Finally, a non-problem, problem: remember that the 'rule-of-cool' is your enemy in good ship design. The more mass you add in order to make your ship look good is going to make you less capable during combat and transport missions.

    • @RandomZeroGravity

      I think 3015 is better, only is you need to unlock rank 4. It gives top speed 180 if only being paired with the same engine, and not mix.

      @AmideusTV Год назад +1

      This information is incorrect. There's a few things people need to know about engines and what you've said here is wrong and will result in issue with their builds. First, top speed is NOT DETERMINED BY THRUST AND MASS. This is something I see repeated over and over again and it's absolutely false. The determining factor in top speed is based entirely on your chosen engines. That's it. By default Class A engines cap at 150, B cap at 140, and C cap at 130 NO MATTER WHAT YOUR MASS IS. There are special engines that will break these rules, but they are specific to that engine. For instance, the White Dwarf 3015 is a Class A that grants 180 as the top speed.
      What is impacted by Mass is your maneuverability, and your suggestion will result in LESS maneuverability because you gain thrust but lose maneuvering thrust, the second thrust stat on the engine. Their engines are worth roughly 16 maneuverability for my current build and your engines are only worth 15, meaning I would lose 4 maneuverability changing to your build. And Maneuverability > generic thrust.
      The actual main issue is his cargo size. He has loaded up SO MUCH cargo he's exploded the mass of his ship. The single largest contributor to mass for any ship is their cargo size. Going over roughly 3000 cargo is essentially impossible without sacrificing a ton of maneuverability. My current endgame ship is sitting on 3080 cargo with enough shielded combined with two jammers to max out scanning avoidance even with a massive contraband inventory.
      Another situation is fuel. Fuel is a weird system and you need very little, he's not optimizing his mass for fuel, but really the difference is likely 1-2 maneuverability at best, so likely not that big a deal.
      As for "rule of cool" structural pieces are 5 mass per, so if adding them is tanking your maneuverability it's not the rule of cool hurting your ship, it's that you've loaded up too much other crap on the ship. If you're at the point where 5 mass changes the Maneuverability you've already made mistakes elsewhere, because optimizing the engines (which is the SAE-5k engine line, 140 max speed with the best maneuvering thrust to mass ratio) and managing cargo without going overboard is going to do far more for you, because that's where all your mass is.

    For me I have 2 main ships, one is just for inventory management and has about 35K cargo space, the other is a combat ship. All of my piloting is done with the combat ship, I set my cargo ship to home when I need to manage inventory ... then back to the combat ship.

    The crew skill size perk works in tandem with the crew skill size stat on your ship. By default your crew skill size is 3, but if your ship only has a stat of 2 then you can only have 2. Your ship has a stat of 4, so even with a max perk stat that gives you 8 you'd still be limited to 4. In order to get 8 crew you need both the perk stat and the ship stat to be at 8 or higher.

    Not a bad effort, but far, FAR from being the 'ultimate' ship build. As pointed out in another comment, this design has many flaws, not to mention you have the lowest crew slots, having extra crew allows you to NOT waste the extra skill points (the Constellation followers have some great Space traits)
    You should swap out the 'slim' Deimos docker for the the larger one, as it can be flipped as well, and placed behind the landing bay, which means you don't need the extra 'companionway' and also removes the extra ladder.(I HATE ladders in my ships)
    Engine wise, you should be using the SAE ones, ether six of the smaller 4 series ones, or four of the 5 series for WAY better mass mobilty ratio. The NOVA's are WAY over rated. They weigh FAR to much and don't really offer that much in return.
    If you rank up the "cargo" skill, you can easily get away with around 3000 on board cargo, which will equal around 5000 with tier 4 of the skill. (so you aren't sacrificing all your mobility.
    The 'Vanguard' quest line gives you access to some of the best weapons for DPS in game, pretty much straight away (for instance particle beams with a fire rate of 6, and a power requirement of 2, so you can have six of them firing at once, and simply melt anything) so you can just run PAR weapons, and forget the missiles. (and/or some basic EM weapons for boarding)

The third slot is for three PBO-100 turrets that destroy most lower level ships before I even get a chance to directly attack them. Much easier if you just do the Kepler R quest and mod that ship. I modded the Kepler R ship to make it legendary (nearly 10k cargo capacity - a real godsend for collectors of crap), all workbenches and armory, first two weapons max'd out (both 3k range, one is auto turret - I like to aim the other) and missiles are so so (damn reactor limitation - have all bars on reactor), 1.8k shields, not the longest jump range but close. The ship is a beast, nothing can touch it. For fun took down the whole UC fleet over Alpha Centauri as a test. The only bad thing is not having a direct route to the cockpit, but you don't need it when you can go directly to cockpit by hitting R on the entrance hatch. All ships I steal I sell.

    Looks pretty weird. The cockpit doesn't match the rest of the ship colors and the stroud cockpit has the worst visibility. The main engines are the worst because they give you a -20 to your top speed. And the wings just look like junk on scaffolding. And even with using those big monster engines, your mobility is only 41. The only good thing about this build is how much storage you have and that its shielded. But anybody can make a slow moving freighter with no maneuverability. Not a fan.
