1. Fender & Cowl - Mount fabrication, patch panels, body work, primer, | 1961 Chevy Apache

- So this is the official first video I'm posting for the restoration of my 1961 Chevy Apache 10.
What I originally expected to be a simple patch panel turned out to be a bit more involved. The mounting bracket for the fender was totally shot, so I had to fabricate it from scratch. This procedure was well outside my comfort zone, but I'm satisfied with the results.
Subscribed to stay tuned in to the restoration!

Excellent restoration. The whole machine is urgently needed for restoration and painting. Excellent car. Auto class!
Thanks!
For being outside your comfort zone you sure made it look easy.... nice work!!
Hah, well that's good, I mean I guess I have a lot of the skills, I've just never applied them to this field of work. I'm just trying to be methodical.
Killer vid as usual! Body work of this type is super tedious but very rewarding, and a truck like this deserves it.
this is gonna be a fun series to watch. Nice work Z!
Thanks!
Oh, this will be so enjoyable to watch as a series. Can not wait for the next parts!
Thank you!
Watched every one so far. Enjoying the process. Keep it up!
Dude, you’re a wealth of knowledge. Great video! I am so jealous of that truck. I had to sell my ‘72 Cheyenne 400 BB after the 2nd kid. Been constantly searching for another ever since.
Esta restauração ta ficando muito caprichada parabéns.
Really enjoyed this video, looking forward to this series!
Thank you!
Looking good brotha, already excited for the end result. Keep em coming 👊👊👊
Обожаю пикапы!!!
У меня Nissan NP300, Navara в старом кузове. Ну а ваши Шеви 70- х предел мечтаний! 👍
good job, techniques and products are spot on.
Thank you!
I would never try anything like this, but it's neat to watch and see the process. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Very detailed in you tutorial. Great work 👍 Since I do this on a regular basis, there are a lot of details I wouldn’t have thought of mentioning
Good to hear, thank you!
Hello Zack, I love old things that challenge me. "leave the comfort zone, learned knowledge and old things"! that is the combination that produces splendid things. and you're a particularly cool Irish maker. I like your channel. Greetings from the beautiful Jagsttal in West Germany.
Thank you Andrew! I'm actually German(In Heritage), my last name is Herberholz. My wife and I might be spending a few days in Germany at some point in the coming year (we've never been)
ZH Fabrications oh, you had this project with the irish flag. so I assumed you were an Irishman. silly me. Yes in Germany are some nice places. hope you will have fun. Here in the Jagsttal you can hike very well in the woods and visit old castles. some of the best motorcycle tours go through our Jagsttal. Greetings and my apology is for sure.
Great job
Nicely done Zack! 👍👊
:)
Appreciate the video! I have a 1990 Chev truck that is in pretty good condition, but has some rust that I should take care of. Thanks!
Looks awesome man, well done.
Thank you!
Nice Work! I've had a set of dollys and hammers and never really new the right way to use them.
:) Glad I could help, thank you!
Off to a nice start!
Thank you!
Just found your channel. I haven't watched yet but I subbed so I can get caught up. The more trucks I see going together, the better it makes my project feel.
:) Thank you!
I love old truck and cars. 👍
:)
ótimo trabalho, vai ficar muito bom depois de tudo terminado você vera, abraços !!!
Awesome video, awesome channel!
Most satisfying is scratching items off your list at the end, right?!
You are smart to keep it a rolling restoration. Gonna look great when you get it looking the way you want.
Thank you! I'm pretty excited about it!
Great music. Awesome job
Looking good. I know with the filler I used it recommended applying to bare steel.
Love it!! Please post more 👍🏻
Will do, like I said in the intro video, I have 4 or 5 more that I'lll be bringing over to this channel over the next few weeks, I also have some new ones I haven't released anywhere yet.
Nice truck and good work.
Thank you!
TOP ! Nice work
Looks awesome, dude!
Thanks Drew!
Well done my friend. Kudos on the patience and craftsmanship. My ass would have ordered a quarter from Classic Industries and called it a day! Looking forward to seeing the truck come together.
Hah, I've come close a few times :)
Nice video man ;-) Really great job!!!
Thank you!
NICE JOB!!
Nice work.
Thanks Jim!
I got really exciting thinking you put out new content on the truck. But I don't mind rewatching till the new episode.
Well, I have a new one, but I'm going to wait a week or so until I get all of these transferred over :)
It's a good refresher and I'll be more excited for the new episode. Almost forgot about that coming back
Nice job. If I could do what your able to do I would not have call a tow truck to take away my 64 chevy pickup in 1975. It still ran but at that time we needed to get safety inspections on all trucks and when I took mine through in 75 it got 12 safety violations. I couldn't afford that. But I still miss it. Thanks for the video.
Nice work! My dad`s work was doing body car repair. He used the oxigen acetylene torch plus an iron wire as an add on the welding. Follow the videos! Cheers.
Thank you!
Man I feel like Oxy Acetylene would be super hard for this sort of stuff!
ZH Fabrications it requires a lot of practise, but was the way he used, and all the body car fixers uses (chapistas, in spanish) here in argentina. Saludos!
Hello, I'm from Brazil.. I'm liking your videos.. Very good..
Thank you!
subscribed for one lamp u made , and to watch these seriess lol , great work , cool rides
Thank you!
Great work ....Nice Truck.....I Like......Thanks....
Thanks Donald!
Nice work.
Wax and grease remover.
For your question.
such a cool truck. Flat clear right over the primer would be cool for paint.
I actually have been shooting stuff with Single stage black urethane paint.. but shhhh you don't know that yet :)
amazing
Thank you!
So frustrated ! RUclips just stopped showing your content in my home page !
I'm so sick of it ! It happens more and more... Lucky for us, I was really confused not to see any new content from you, so I checked your channel and boom ! A new series on your chevy restoration !
Yeah, YT seems to be burying my content a lot lately--at least I've been hearing that a lot... Glad you found it :)
hell Ya keep the videos coming,
Will do, I'll probably release the next one in a few days :)
I've got a 64 Falcon Ute here on my "To Do" list, should be fun when I get the time. The alcohol gets expensive, have a look for wax and grease remover, it'll do the same job much cheaper.
Nice, any idea when you'll get around to it, that would be a cool build!
I've cut out and replaced the entire underside of the car (well half of it), the tray, cut and repaired all the rust, installed air-con ducts in the dash, installed tablet mounts. I'm toying with the idea of making it electric. That stuff is coming down in price. Baby on the way though, so probably pushed back again.
Zac nice job ! Love the lines on that Chevy ! The song about the titanic who is that ?
On Bondo . I like to feel the heat if its not warm its set ..whipe it down with laquer thinner to remove the Glaze it wont gum up your paper as fast pryor to sanding .. working with Lead is better .. you can set it with fine steel shavings and a magnet will stick to it ..
what metal prepping liquids/stuff are you using? this is going to be an exciting series. makes me want to get in the garage start working on my Jeep J20 Pickup.
GREAT WORK AND VIDEO I LOVE IT AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHO YOUR MUSIC BACKGROUND IS -I LOVE THE MUSIC
Vrrrooommm! ✌ great video dude. See ya next time
Nice
:)
ZH Fabrications I which I had the room for a project like that. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Nice work. In-spite of all the constraints, sandblast the rust away.
Wish I had a sandblaster :(
I have the same truck I saw you unscrew that antenna. I tried unscrewing my antenna yesterday and it loosen but just keeps turning once it was very loose now it won't tighten back either,. I need all the work you need and maybe a little more. Trying to learn something
Nice one mate. I’m in the middle of a full Resto of my Ln65 d/c Hilux. Put my first vid up the other day.
Awesome, I'll have to check it out!
ZH Fabrications I’m told in the states there getting big prices now. They are getting rare here in Australia
Well done man, stay out of your comfort zone ;)
Always :)
Cool I'm ro)ing a 61 also.
Nice, what sort of shape is it in?
Wish I could weld or had a welder I just have to stick to bondo for my 69 f100 lol
What grade sheet metal?? Are they all the same.? I have 77 c10.
I’d add rust stabilizer to the inner section before you button things up
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
:)
Cool man my grandpa had on just like yours his was white
What gauge sheet steel did you use? Maybe 22?
Either 18 or 20.
Thanks! I've been meaning to get started fixing rust on my truck.
Love the videos!
WIPE IT WITH prepsol
I'm gonna be really bummed if I watch all way to the end of this restoration and you don't paint it with that distressed red finish you put on alot of your fab projects!!!
I make parts to rebuild that body, DM me.
Awesome!
But this is a repost.
Yep, repost from my other smaller channel, I'm going to be moving everything over to this channel.
Hello you mean !the fender skin , not door skin Ha,Ha
I don’t know this long haired guy.
hippie
Hah, I recorded this about a year ago, I've lost the hair :)
Poor truck!!!
It's coming along quite nicely...
Why all this tedious work??? Next time look at the same piece to the other side of the machine!!!!!😂😂😂
Sorry just can't stand that music. Titanic farethewell.
