This was the largest project to date on the truck, but wow, what a difference! I started working on the box nearly one year ago, there was a lot of body work & patch panels to do.
Up next I'll probably take the box off, strip and paint the cab, and replace the front windshield, but that will have to wait a month or two as I have to get back to some of my paying work :) Хобби
I'm enjoying this series - nice progress!
Hey John! Thank you!
I have a 61 Apache 10. Great to see you haven't changed the hood. That's what makes it cooler than the other ones.
I’m loving this. It feels overwhelming and is awesome to see you tackle each section and share you thought process. So skilled and so humble!!
Thanks Greg! Yeah it is super overwhelming, but I just have to take it piece by piece.
I appreciate your honesty about your expectations, I think B+ is a very reasonable goal!! Great video and a great old truck!
Un trabajo increíble! Hace dos años hice la route66 y vi varios de esas maravillas 😍 me encantan!!! Buen trabajo
Saludos desde España
Looking good! Really cool to see how you do the patch panels and body work, I like that magnet trick to keep things level.
Thanks Caleb!
Hi, I'm watching your videos from France and I must say that in addition to your great work, I love your music especially when I hear French songs. Good luck for the future
Dang, that’s a ton of work. Really neat to see the different methods that you employ to work on this beast. It’s looking good.
Zack, I like your philosophy as you work: The perfect is the enemy of the good. I’ve also heard “Done is better than perfect”.
Old WWII maxim: “Give them the third best to go on with; the second best comes too late, the best never comes”.
I like it! I agree 100%
nice work. this has always been my favorite chevy body style. back in the 80's you could get them cheap in central california, they were litteraly everywhere. my friends and I always called it the 'crowd pleaser' there were so many, the crowds obviously loved them, right?
good to see one treated with proper respect.
like how you made your own patch panels, you really are doing a great job and that shows a true talent!!!
Awesome! Love the way it’s looking. A bicycle inner tube works great as the chain protector. Comes in many sizes and it’s cheap.
Great idea, thanks Tom!
Great advice!
I'm restoring a 72 GMC and have found using a brass backing plat to fill holes works well. The weld won't penetrate the brass and it usually leaves the backside relatively clean. What you've done works too and I've done that many time! Just something I've learned and thought I'd pass it on. Can't wait to see your truck completed!
Thanks, yeah I ordered one of those, it arrived right after I finished this video :)
Digging this build. Love your normal content as well. Keep em all coming!!
Thanks! I'll be getting back to my normal content for a while. I've just been traveling so much this year I haven't really had a chance to make much, and I've been moving all of the truck videos over to this channel. :)
That is thick heavy metal . I had a 65 . Built like a tank . And you're a bad ass
Not only interesting, good continuity and flow on viewing. You evince multiple talents.Modern renaissance behavior. Good to see this still exist.
This series is so inspiring. I have an 83 GMC that needs attention and I want to get to it after watching you.
Thank you! And go for it!
You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work, you have a lot of patience, which is what it takes.
Excellent work my dude. The only thing I would change on this build if it were mine would be using tractor paint instead of the expensive automotive paint, Tractor paint is not only less than half the price but it's more durable than automotive paint, if it's just a work/shop truck who cares if, it's used as a work truck and they have like 35 different colors including Flat and Matte Black, and if you don;t want the actual color you can but a pint of something else and create your color. I just built a 1980 Ford Truck as a daily driver/shop truck and used Majic Tractor paint and made my own custom color, i bought 3 quarts of A.C. Orange and 1 quart of Majic Brown in a empty 1 gallon can and mixed them together and shook them up to create a burnt orange color. Plus it's a 1 stage paint so you can cut and buff it after painting.
nice to see the ol chevys getting saved! thanks for the videos brotha!
Noticed the antique tag I'm in FL to my truck is a 65 c10 long bed if you need info on anything don't hesitate us classic c10 guys stick together
Good quality metal work right here..hard to find guys like this now days
Nice work! Really enjoyable project; I look forward to seeing more of it.
Thank you!
Been waiting for this. We need more 20 minute videos!
Thanks Scott. Yeah, this one was a big undertaking!
Awesome job. Love that your not worried about it being perfect. It adds character and makes it way cooler. Add Chevrolet lettering to the tailgate some how, your a creative guy.
Thanks, I'll figure something out for the tailgate.
Just watched the truck series - morning well spent! Awesome stuff.
It is really nice to see that truck getting in shape. Great work!
Thank you!
It's very interesting to watch how piece by piece this simple truck becomes a beauty. Very good work again!
Thank you!
Use a bicycle inner tube to cover that chain....and you could heat shrink it too...Great videos man....thanks for sharing
Good Job ! Looking really nice so far, amazing what little maintenance will do to improve the looks of the truck, Very nice .
Really looks great half the fun is building and doing metal work it's a lot of work but it will be worth it just take your time looking forward to your progress
The back end looks a lot better!! I was looking at the tailgate while you were fixing the side and I was thinking, this must have take him for ever.... well, you got a new one ... looks really good!
Hah, yeah.. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the old one, but I'll find something.
Being a novice welder, I feel good that I used the same technique (backing plate) to fill holes in my 83 gmc fender and firewall. I learned about brass dollies afterward, but the sheet metal is way cheaper. Nice truck!
Great job, really appreciate you moving these vids over here, I get to catch up in weeks, not a year.
:)
Lookin’ good! Great in fact! Thanks for sharing! 🙌🏼
I’ve got a ‘62 GMC Fleetside 1 ton. These videos are really inspiring thanks man!

Great video lot of info in a short time 👍
It’s looking great man! Been enjoying these videos :)
Thanks Nick!
Just found this video as I’m doing my f100. Quality video.
Cool you are back at it. Great truck. You may wan to try a copper spoon and plug welding those small holes. Hold spoon to the back and gently plug weld panel weld cant stick to the spoon so you end up with metal filler. You can get commercial spoons from Eastwood etc or make your own (I do). I use on my bikes for filling thin metal in tanks headlight buckets etc.
Yes, I finally cracked down and ordered one :)
Even harbor freight has a copper spoon. Works ok for me.
I was going to suggest the same. I have a magnetic brass welding clamp that you can tension up against the back of a panel. Was about $45 Australian so should be cheaper in USA
You can also just use a piece of thick aluminum. Doesn't stick to that either and I always have little chunks around my shop. Couple of friends are pro welders and they taught me that trick.
Realmente una obra de arte. Master piece
Love what you are doing and in the real world as well. I am showing my age but the tailgate hooks should be fed up from the bottom "upside down" and that keeps them from bouncing out.
Thanks for the vid.
Mike
Hah, I just went out and flipped them around, thank you!
Cool Brother, Enjoy.
Mike

Gracias!
Great video the box came out great!!
Thanks!
Hmmm when you said satin I was near tears but that thing sprayed on and showed up totally not looking like I'd have imagine. Almost from my view has texture which I'd love but I'd guess maybe not everyone would want that. Great video , enjoy your apache.
Nice job. I had a 63 back in the day.
Great video subscribed after the first minute and a half.
Happy to hear Joe!
Never tried it myself but I've seen guys plug weld with the copper backing paddles that harbor freight sell and it seems to work well.
Yeah, I just got a set of those clamps in the mail, I'll have to try them out next time around :)
Great , looking good!
thank you
Great job!
I see that someone else mentioned the bicycle inner tube. The cool thing is you can pick one that will fit the chain well. One suggestion I can add it to punch a hole in the tube at the bottom of the loop to let water drain out.
I like it, thanks!
Zee Truck is looking cooler all the time. Love the Hot Rod Black.
Awesome video man!!!!
Thank you
i love the
hard work man
Hay l liked you working on the pick up you did a nice job very nice work and thanks for sharing. Just me but you should do older P.U. or cars thanks again.
You are creative in everything I follow from Jordan
Thank you!
Great work Man, thanks
Thanks!
If you want to sell I’m interested!! You just have to drive down to Brazil!! Good job man!!
cool!
You have to get slotmag wheels for it!
Great work. I know it takes a lot of hard work and long hours. The results shows for all that. Where did you get the 2 inch belt grinder in the background? Looks like a heavy duty one. Would love to hear that. Thanks.
