    You are doing it exactly the way I want to do it with my truck-take the panels off one piece at a time. Thanks for sharing this.

    Really enjoyed watching this. You give a nice run down on what you're doing. I've got a '71 C-10. Love the body shape on the 60's but I needed a daily driver and couldn't find one ready enough. Looking forward to follow along with the build.

      I started replacing the passenger side rocker panels today. It's a lot of work! I should have the video out in a week or so.

    Zack, thanks for starting this channel. I heard about it on the podcast and if this is anything like your fabrication channel, it should be great.

    Yesssss!!! My first car was a 64 stepside c10. One day, I plan on doing exactly what you're doing - one piece at a time. Awesome stuff!

    Awesome video! Subscribed instantly as I will be needing to do the same with my 67 c10 and I can use all the knowledge I can get. Not the most knowledgeable with this but I am always willing to learn. So far I’ve been asking my uncles for help and I would try to find stuff on RUclips but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I ran into your videos and they are everything I was looking for. Going to enjoy this process and watch you with your truck. Plus the comments seem helpful as well. Great job !

    Saw you on S/V Seeker and looked up your fabrication channel. I binge watched that for the last 2 hours. Love the work you do! Then at the end of one of your videos, I saw you had anther channel dedicated to your shop truck! HUGE fan of both channels now. Subbed!

    nice job man, I am no expert but I've done a few repairs like this I find if you cut the repair panel on the original panel then your cut lines will always match up without having to grind, also leave a 1mm gap that give the meatl somewhere to shrink into that way you can with a bit of practise weld up soft pad off and no filler, good job though, nice to see how your getting on , keep those vids coming

    • @zhrestoration9629
      @zhrestoration9629  7 лет назад

      Thanks Mark! I've seen that done. and it seems to make sense, but I'm always close to "key-holing" when I weld.(i.e. burning through) I'm using .025, but I'm scared that with much of a gap between panels, It would be even easier to burn through. Any thoughts?

    • @baldcreations8044
      @baldcreations8044 7 лет назад +1

      you'll be fine Zack as your only spot tacking, so tack all the corners first, then back to the start, then tack half way between those tacks then half way between those etc etc then when you grind back grind in one movement along your tacks, that way you keep the heat down. good luck my friend

    • @zhrestoration9629

    This is going to be a great series Zack! I was already enjoying your other channel but this is something else!! Thanks for adding all your thought process! What size wire are you using? I'm in the welding trade myself but we use .45 ,1/16, even 5/64 sometimes. Your wire is probably quite a bit smaller I would guess..

    When you have a full can of primer use your paint stick as a pump! Hold your fill cup tilted just over the edge of the can then dip and scrape on the lip of your cup up and down till you get the amount you need .No spill mess or having dried mess in the lip and the can doesn't seal .

    I'm a metal shaper ,Just a tip get a hard wood block and drill a 1 inch hole in it and take a ball peen hammer and shape your bump over the hole till you get it close and then cut the outside dimensions and weld it in.

    Just found you. Looks good. I know some primers a porous where it'll start rusting through. Is the 2-part epoxy moisture proof and safe to leave uncoated for awhile?
