- For the third video, I thought I would install the spare passenger door that came with the truck when I purchased it. It looks like someone did the majority of the work on it, although I did apply a little body filler to one section.
I had originally recorded myself swapping over all the parts from the original door, but then I soon realized that I didn't have the window channel & door felts, so I needed to disassemble the door again to instal them. Armed with the previous knowledge of assembly/disassembly , I decided to include only the second go round.
Oh, if you guys would like to support me I invite you to check out my Patreon fund here: www.patreon.com/user?u=4716013
This is essentially my truck fund, so this helps me order parts to keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching.

just got to love working on old cars. all made to be rebuilt, over & over.
Man if only we could do paint and replace all those parts in 10m. lol Looking good. I cant' wait to see that truck rolling down the road complete. It's going to be glorious.
:) Thanks Chad!
Coming along nicely. I have to say I'm impressed with the door and hardware swap. Not that it's impossible, I've done similar door swaps myself although decades ago. I'm impressed because as I remember it there was a WHOLE lot more cussing when I did it.
Haha, thanks Harold... There was actually plenty of cursing, I just took the liberty of editing that out :)
No contortionist antics? No bleeding? Less rattling. Less wind noise. What an awesome win on that job.
:) Thanks Jim... Unfortunately I did this about a year ago, so now I'm going to have to scuff it re-prime it then paint it again.
Your truck always looks better, step by step. 💪
Thanks Andrew!
please keep video I want to see your truck when it's done you doing a good job
Manoeuvring those parts in and out looks like the type of job you do when you're very calm, otherwise stuff's getting thrown
You are correct sir... I try to edit those parts out :)
Bit by bit, panel by panel. Looking better every time.
Thanks David!
I’m really enjoying this truck build series.
Thank you Abe!
Looking great. I remember my dad buying a new 1965 Chevy fleet side custom cab. Chrome everywhere. First year I think the spare was mounted underneath the bed. Even the spare had a medal wrap that was chrome plated.
Thank you! That's interesting, I'll have to look that up.
I am impressed. You have golden hands.
:) Thank you!
Sweet job Zac. I have to say as a 25+ year’s as a automotive technician specializing in drivability and automotive instructor I give you an A+ nicely done just my two cents. Oh I use to use spray silicone on the weather stripping to help the windows go a little easier and for a real truck ( meaning yours real steel) is a little die-electric grease because you can clean it up when your done. Hey Zac take care my friend
Thank you, and that's a great idea!
The machine is super! Godspeed!
Thank you Aleksey!
Good info here man. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Utkan!
Love that you are working on this, I obtained a 68 this winter that I am trying decide if I need to do a frame off or not. I'll have to build a place to work in the back yard if I go that route.
Thanks.... Yeah, that's sort of why I'm not doing a frame off... I figure some day when I have a nice shop it should go a lot easier since I'll have already done a good amount of the work.
I've done that on a number of older vehicles. Managed to draw blood every time on the sharp inside edges of the door. :-)
Hah, yes pretty sure that's a right of passage :)
Your taste in projects is one of the best out there. Thank you so much for the inspiration! What do you recommend for editing videos?
Thanks Chad!
Right now I'm just using iMovie. It's pretty user friendly. I'm thinking about upgrading to Final Cut some day though.
did you take classes for body work ? If not you sir are the man taking on this project. R. Flores Tx. Thanks you are giving me back my feeling of get out there again and do it.
Great video. Does Johnny Law let you drive that thing around with that cracked windshield?
Yup. Fortunately I pretty much only drive to pick up metal and wood, which is all within 2 miles
Do I have to take the window out to replace the door striker mechanism out. I'm stuck and think that is what i need to do but want to be sure first.
Good music. As if the game EXmachina or Crossout.
:)
Dude,,, did you just put the new window channel in your old door
Thumbs Up #464 I am, Wednesday 23 January 2019! If you do not mind my asking, what engine and transmission do you have? Mine is a 235 c.i. mounted to a 2-speed Hydromatic.
why didn’t he do the vent window too???
