  • How to Assemble and Install the Doors and Inner Workings On a 1963-66 Chevrolet/GMC C10, C20, or C30
    In today's episode Sean takes you along the journey he's been through while restoring his classic Chevrolet pickup! Today Sean disassembles the original door that was on the c20. Next, he takes all of the original inner workings of the door and installs them on the new door that he purchased from Lutty's Chevy Warehouse. This is a super easy job that only requires hand tools, patience, and time. (Anyone can do it! 😜)

    The design of these various component parts is fascinating. The engineers were ingenious. Everything had to work, be cost-effective, be reliable, repairable, and stay in place no matter how many times your truck bounces down an old gravel road. The state of manufacture for the era was relatively simple. But the whole thing is just so darn impressive.

      You are absolutely right! The lines might not be perfect on these old trucks, but everything works and works well!

    For your first time it wasn’t so bad at all 😊
    Just what you said, remember where all the screws must be placed otherwise you can really mess it up!
    Thanks Sean, see you

    Do you have to pull the whole door apart to change the mirror? Seems like those nuts are impossible to get to.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Месяц назад

      The bottom bolts are hard to get too. You unfortunately do need to take the door apart to get to it.

    Should you paint the door before installing it ?

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Год назад +1

      Hey Randy! That's a great question, and it all depends on what you plan to do with the vehicle. I did not paint the door first because the truck was scheduled to be painted green. Since the truck was not staying blue, there was no point to paint the door first. If you follow along with the rest of the videos, you can see how the truck is turning out. Hey Steven! I didn't paint the door because the truck was going to be painted at a later date. This is all preparation work. I've linked the video of the paint job below. 👇 ruclips.net/video/12DT-rNZP9Q/видео.html

    How much is this project costing you? I’m brand new to the car scene and in college with some money saved up. Really digging these old rigs but I’ve never worked on a car/truck before.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Год назад +2

      What's up Ben!? 🙌 I got the truck for a good deal, but right now with the supply chain issues, prices for parts have been going up. Also, these trucks are relatively popular right now. I'm not totally done with the renovation, but I will be soon. I'll do a video explaining how much it all cost. That being said, I am also new to this and missed a few big issues with my truck that ended up costing a lot down the road. As a new guy, buy something that runs and drives. Make sure the truck needs minimal body work, and is mechanical in decent shape. It's easier to replace mechanical parts than it is to do body work. It's also hard to say how much you might spend. If you buy something decent first, you'll save money in repairs. If not, you'll dump money into repairs.

    Where's the video on door removal/replacement? All i see is random other steps in the process before this. Can you post a more organized playlist of the progress?

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  7 месяцев назад +2

      What's up Collin?! I'm not sure what steps you're looking for here? Do you want to learn how to take the door off of the cab or reinstall it onto the cab? If that's what you're looking for, I filmed that process but never put the video up. I did this because it's extremely straightforward. All you do is remove a few bolts. I can always edit the video and explain that process, but I need to know what you're looking for here. This video is a detailed process on how to install the components of a new door.

      @@TheBrothersWorkshop I'd like to see the video of the door replacment. What brand is the reproduction door? Any welding or cutting to get it to line up? It looks great. Just want to know how you got it to fit so well.

    I dont really understand why it is that you need to slam that door so hard, the doors on my 65 i can literally push closed with my little finger & yes it latches n seals completely, sorry man i just come unhinged on anyone that slams my truck door

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  7 месяцев назад +1

      Well, my doors don't shut like a new car. They tend to need a little more effort, or they don't close properly. As I see it, built my truck to drive and to use, so I don't stress over the small stuff like closing the door. This is not a show truck, even though I have done a ton of work to it since this video was posted. Follow along with the build.
