- Alright, so I decided it was time to break up the body work with a little something different.
The truck still has the original 283 V8 with along with the stock carb, headers, etc. So until I get the chance to drop in a new crate motor(a ways down the road, I figured I might as well do some bolt on upgrades. First up was the carb. I've always had the best luck with Holley, so that's the route I decided to go--and holy crap, what a difference it made, I truly wasn't expecting such an improvement. The responsiveness is night and day, and I think the extra CFM over the stock Rochester is being put to good use, as the full throttle performance is significantly better.
Tools and products used:
Holley 500 CFM 2bbl Carburetor - amzn.to/2r1owGH
Mr. Gasket 1937MRG Carb adaptor - amzn.to/2q9zb1a
NC Whisper Momma Atmosheric Forge amzn.to/2oIbL1w
Generic fuel line & filter - Napa Хобби
Way better than TV. I appreciate how you forge your own tools, like when you made the square holes in that table for the carriage bolts.
Nicely done!! Don’t you love it when it’s straight forward change like these with Awesome Results. Like a whole new truck the way she’s running.
Yeah, it was a huge improvement, it even felt like a new truck. Sounds totally different, I was pretty impressed.
Looking great. I'm really enjoying the series. Good work
Thanks, I should have a new one out tomorrow :)
I'm enjoying your process. That's going to be one Badass MamaJama!
Thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Looking Awesome
Thank you!
Boy I love Chevy orange. Good work, Zack.
Thank you!
I love the Truck ! I watched a video called "Corner Carving Apache" about 4 years ago on RUclips. At the time I owned a 04 Mercury Marauder and after seeing that video, I sold it and said I'm tired of fussing and waxing a vehicle and sticking it in a garage to keep it pristine . If I ever find the right truck it will be like the 59 in the video and it will be driven daily, rain snow or sunshine, parked under a tree not worrying about sap or bird crap, but ready to romp at any given moment. And if it gets a scrape or scratch, I'll just give it a quick sand and get the rattle can out.
Exactly!
ZH Fabrications With your eye for design it will be awesome. Like he said in the video, he had spent a lot of cash on things that were in the wrong direction of what he would be happy with. I think the main thing is to decide on the engine and transmission choice and build the suspension brakes and frame ,,to work with it first.
Great music too!!!
Nice work Zack! 👍👊 ..... and Zack's Dad! 👍👊
:) Thanks Fred!
I’m digging on the music
How do you plan to protect the back of the panels and interior spaces, where the rust started first time round?
I hope you do a sbc 400 crate engine if you do a swap! Absolutely love this beast!
We'll see what happens, It'll definitely be a SBC.
How did the carburetor work our for you? And do you think I can just use the open gasket instead?
Zac...! Im going to be coming down to your area from Spokane.... is there anything that you would want me to pick up for you? Just a thought....cheers great work....
85,999 subs! Nice dude!
Saw your comment and looked up right when I hit 86k :)
Nice 😎
Thanks!
Now the engine can breathe freely yeah👏
:)
Hey mang! What type primer are you using? That stuff looks great!
Thanks, Its just black epoxy primer.
I despise Rochester carbs. Ick. Glad you bought a Holley!
I've had a handful of vehicles with practically every different carb manufacturer you can think of, this is my first Holley, and I will never go back to anything else again.
Have you put in a distributor yet? Not as big a difference as the carb but well worth doing!
It's in the future for sure. I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the 283 or drop something else in there.
the carb..you mounted is 2bb..holley....question? can 4bb intake edelbrock be convert to 2bb carb with adapter and place a 2bb carb hollley? please let me know,,,
I'm not sure, there may be some sort of adapter block out there. Changing intake manifolds is pretty straightforward though.
You win👊😅😅
Yay!
More garages....err any, need to use anvils to bend fuel lines.
Hah
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
I always watch out for my dad so he won't paint stuff when I am not looking.
Haha
Old carburetor looks much better. Alodine, nickle finish is nice. Cadmium and zinc is cheesy.
Id get so sick of seeing scribble on my hands..
