Chiefs need to become much more comfortable with the short passing game. Can't always rely on mahomes running around and tyreek or kelce getting open deep.
I think they are comfortable with the short passing game. There is stubborness I feel with Reid and Mahomes knowing that they HAVE the weapons to risk for deep shots despite the circumstances and situations they get themselves in. Sometimes the adjustments in the biggest game matter most and Bowles was comfy doing his thing if Reid/Mahomes wasn't going to change it up themselves.
What gets me is that their first round pick, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, was tearing the Buccs apart those few times he did get the ball. Obviously his rate wasn't going to last, but the Chiefs didn't even keep him on the field long enough to even pretend they wanted to run with him. If they had a more balanced offense the Buccs would have been forced to defend against the short stuff more leaving long passes more likely to be open. This is a real problem that we Chiefs fans are going to have to get used to. Reid is the same coach he was in Philadelphia. He’s been out coached in the SB all three times he’s been there. Pat Mahomes has as much ability as any QB that’s ever played the game, but that’s not enough. It’s painfully obvious at this point, and I’m not sure the Chiefs get another one with Reid. Reid has proven over a 20 year period that he’s not always willing to do that.

Stubbie/Special is my base call versus any 3x1 or 3x2 set. Works great on the high school level but I believe you need to have a great football player at Nickel.
@@BrettKollmann Agree. Prior to the 2018 season I based out of a 3-4, so I had a Sam OLB playing that spot most of the time. First round of the playoffs, our opponent went 4 verticals, #3 took our Strong Safety away, #2 had our Sam OLB 1-on-1 on his vertical, TOUCHDOWN for the go-ahead score. From that moment on I've used a Nickel as my base. 😆 And I now believe that the Nickel DB has to be one of your best football players.
I was completely shocked about what you said about Chiefs offense and how to defend against them. With minimum linemen and 2 safetie, Bucs managed to outplay Chiefs
Maybe if Helmets weren't used to catch balls in the end zone and half of the O line composed btw of a failed left tackle that let a defensive end get superbowl mvp for the first time in history or just counting on a offensive genius who didn't adapt to a crucial situation allowing his best receivers to get shut down putting the whole fate of their win on a toeless quarterback throwing darts parallel to the ground (did I sound sarcastic enough?) they woulda perhaps won.
Hey, love your videos. I think a small “drink responsibly” in the corner during the b-roll goes a long way! No criticism on the football content, you’re amazing!
The defensive play by the Bucs was just immaculate. What I saw was an incredibly disciplined defense that executed their plays flawlessly. That takes trusting the play calls and being physically and mentally capable of carrying them out. It’s a strength to Tom Brady that he carries such authority where his teammates become the best version of themselves. The mantra “Do Your Job” comes to mind. If they follow Brady and the incredible coaches TB assembled it’s no wonder they won so convincingly. Every player on TB was playing their best football.
As a seahawks fan I find this concept of "not adjusting" fascinating as that's the story of our offense in the first half v second half. When it's broken down in tape, it seems so straightforward that chiefs should've adjusted and they have the personnel to do so! But...why didn't they? Is there something they see pre snap that creates confusion? Is it just arrogance of feeling like it'll eventually work? What leads to lack of adjustment
"It is not lost on me, the privilege of having a job description of watching football and drinking with a few a hundred thousand strangers every week in my living room"... Living the dream Brett. Wouldn't be possible if your content wasn't excellent.

You know you're putting out intellectual content when other renowned creators constantly comment on your vids. Keep it up, and try not to cry when whatever happens with watson happens
Honestly, I think the biggest reasons KC lost were: - Lack of adjustment -Andy Reid & Co. being unfocused because of the Britt Reid situation, probably being the reason we had a horrible gameplan. -Fischer going down during the Bills game. -No plan for help on the oline putting Remmers on an island (which is a terrible idea.) - Referees being way more prone to flag calling than any other game (especially GB v TB and KC v BUF) ruining any chance of Chief's defense doing something in the first half, not counting the offsides.
Bucs defense tested the Chiefs offense and then the Chiefs just hung themselves by not adjusting. But hey Tom Brady was the reason the Bucs won, he did it all by himself. LOL Bucs defense overall was insane in the playoffs making Brees look like a rookie and shutting down Rodgers when they needed to and overall the reason they ended up winning.
Brett, thanks for the fantastic videos. You gave me a lot of hope with your breakdown of the Chiefs plan vs the Bills and I fully expected to see it again vs the Bucs... let down, but hope you reverse the curse next season. Cheers.

This post-season really made you realize how great of a D coordinator Bowles is. That Bucs defense had an amazing run. Hell against the Packers the Bucs were the reason for that 14 point swing in the end of the half (with Pettine and King's help playing horrible situational defense) and the beginning of the second half. Also the fact that Brady threw 3 INTs and held the Packers to 7 points off of those picks won them that game. And the Packers had the highest scoring offense. Now the Packers did help beat themselves by completely abandoning their offesive identity, but the Bucs defense still deserves massive credit. And then the defense holds the Chiefs offense to only 9 points. That is impressive as hell. Defense still wins you championships
You're still my favorite to watch break down film, my heart went out everytime I saw the Texans do something..."strange" So I think us chiefs fan still came out on top, long live the Hunt family's kindness and dedication to KC
Hey! My high school defense was basically revolved around what Saben calls 77. We called it special, great coverage however rub routes were the weakness.
Just want to let you know that, as a Chief fan, this is the first SB video I've been able to stomach. Part of that is time since the game, but most of it is the way Brett is able to point out the flaws and failings of teams without being condescending or insulting. Thanks, Mr. Kollmann!

Keep up the great work. This is far and away the best football channel on RUclips. All my friends watch you too. Have a great Valentine’s Day everyone!!
Nothing related to this video but I found it funny that Packers Running back Jamal Williams said that his QB would never confuse what down he has to work with in comparisons to Brady's blunder vs the Bears. Which in turn showed Rodgers thinking he had 4 downs to work with vs the Bucs but really only 3 since Lafleur elected for the field goal. Just some funny shit right there
The fact that the Bucs are paying their top 6 DBs a combined 8 million next year.. its probably the single greatest position group value in league history (that might include 2013 Seahawks secondary that had all pros playing on 5th round deals, but Earl Thomas was a top 11 pick on the old CBA rookie deals) ... The fact that SMB is built like, jumps and runs like an outside corner (& tbh was probably drafted to be an outside corner when you consider that he went 39th in his draft which is a higher actual draft slot than everybody else in Tampas secondary and plays there in base) but plays in the slot gives this secondary so much versatility. Individually those 6 DBs could (will) all make 10+ million per year on their second contracts, maybe Mike Edwards gets something like 4/32..realistically Antoine Winfield Jr might have the highest pure upside of all these guys. Another crazy note about this secondary is that they could’ve had Vernon Hargreaves, Justin Evans & MJ Stewart who were all top 60 picks on rookie deals on this 2020 team, so they’ve swung and missed on top 100 DBs in the past 5 drafts, but still managed to build this secondary. When you look through the league and see that Trae Waynes is going to be a 15.8 mill cap hit in 2021.. heck Tyrann Matheiu will have 19 mill cap this season, and he’s a really good player. The Bucs secondary and what they’re being payed really is a unique advantage and just an excellent example of team building.
I wish I could learn to study film with Brett (and pet those pretty kitties that are just the sweetest). He is so good at knowing all of this and I wish I could even be 50% as good as him.
Question @ 10:30 is Bunting Robbing number 1 and just happens to bracket number Tyreek coming across? Is that a chiefs specific adjustments for the apex to bracket deep route from weak side? Or is that traditional stubble rules ?
It depends on the team honestly, and the game plan and whoever is lined up at number one. It seemed like they were all keying on Tyreek no matter what, so it’s possible that if he was #1 strong SMB would have just robbed that instead of bracketing the back side post
I honestly thought there would be some sort of change from Andy Reid in the second half and was really disappointing to see nothing. From a neutral standpoint, made the game kinda boring in the second half cause KC didn't put up much of a fight against that Bucs defense.
I think reasons like this which are KC what seem like inability to fix and adjust to their own weaknesses even when they know the bucs will exploit what they found on film is a big reason why EB hasn’t got hired.
3:24 they actually got a great chip, and probably had a touchdown if the linemen can contain the D end who got floored. yet would get up and disrupt the play...
I mean, ole Patty did play great. Dude made insane throws to attempt to keep the team in the game. Statistically it didn't look good but he was pressured and forced to scramble a record breaking amount of yards behind the LOS.
I think people need to place more emphasis on Oline play when looking at teams. Those tackles got destroyed by TB and we really should've seen it coming
A few players I’d really like to see get a break-down over the offseason. -Derick Stingley (I know he is the 2022 draft, but he’s sooooo good.) -Tray Lance, Cam Newton 3.0 -Rashod Bateman, I think he’s under rated -Micah Parsons, mans an athlete at its finest -Penei Sewell ( I think you did a video on him, but I can’t remember.) -The Big 3 WR, no one seams to know who’s the best, most people say it’s Chase, but Devonta Smith won the Heismann and Waddles speed is crazy, so I want to know how you’d rank them 1-3. (Also just wanted to add, yes Mahomes was part of the crumbling of the game, but I think he had the best performance of any player on the feild. He was under pressure every single play but kept cool, he made spectacular plays as he was getting sacked. Specifically when Suh was tackling him, and as he was about to touch the floor he threw a 30 yard dot to Williams, he proceeded to drop it. Kelce,Pringle, Williams, they all dropped perfect passes and that’s a massive reason for the lost. Atleast 2 touchdowns can be attributed to the receivers which wouldn’t have won the game, but it would’ve given momentum or very least not embarrassing the franchise by putting 9points up with the best offense in the league.)

They did the same thing last year against SF, but they made the right plays at the right time and were facing Jimmy G who couldn’t hit wide open receivers
49ners should have won last year. Jimmy G blew that 4th QT smh.
But that's 2 super bowls Maholmes has looked pretty bad so far.
Love the video breet, I have a video suggestion. I would love to see you break down coastal carolinas offense and how their offense works
10:48 : " Fucking deer on steroids "
Apologize to the Chiefs, that are gifted with Patrick fucking Mahomes, and offer KC fans to curse the Raiders - as if we would need it...
Thx Brett...
Man he praising us all year long smh
I watch UrinatingTree and I can tell you right now that trying to use your curse power to jinx another team doesn’t work lol
While urinating tree may be the Andy Reid of sports predictions ,in more ways than one... It's always a possibility that certain RUclipsrs have more power over the fate of sports games than others.
Stubbie/Special is my base call versus any 3x1 or 3x2 set. Works great on the high school level but I believe you need to have a great football player at Nickel.
You need a nickel that can RUN, or else you can really get caught with the deep ball. It’s a great coverage but you’ve gotta have the right dudes
😆 And I now believe that the Nickel DB has to be one of your best football players.
your cats are always welcome to join you. they probably have more football knowledge than i do.
Hey man, much love from Germany
I just wanted to let you know u have a fanbase all over the world and u do a fantasic job!
vielen Dank!
Last time I was this early, Patrick Mahomes had the best supporting cast in the NFL
Still does in comparison on what Watson and Lamar's got
@@beastmode218 I understand Watson but Lamar has a much better defense and o line and better running backs tf are you on
i love how genuinely appreciative brett is of his job
we appreciate you too brett, keep up the great work!
I was completely shocked about what you said about Chiefs offense and how to defend against them. With minimum linemen and 2 safetie, Bucs managed to outplay Chiefs
Brett: gives a very exhaustive detailed explanation of 77 stubbie coverage
Me: that’s pass interference
I'm still waiting for a buttfumble hoodie
Maybe if Helmets weren't used to catch balls in the end zone and half of the O line composed btw of a failed left tackle that let a defensive end get superbowl mvp for the first time in history or just counting on a offensive genius who didn't adapt to a crucial situation allowing his best receivers to get shut down putting the whole fate of their win on a toeless quarterback throwing darts parallel to the ground (did I sound sarcastic enough?) they woulda perhaps won.
Next video: How Herbert improved so much to win ROTY
He learned how to be a real QB.
PLEASE NO! The chargers have gone through enough agony as it is...
Your videos are so unique. Football and drinks and done so well. This shit makes wanna kick back with a cigar and I don’t even smoke.
Hey, love your videos. I think a small “drink responsibly” in the corner during the b-roll goes a long way! No criticism on the football content, you’re amazing!
14:22 Brett you're killing me with the shot at the Texans!
I learn more from a single Kollmann video than from an entire season of watching every game. Brilliant channel!
As a Chiefs fan, Brett Kollmann is the only football analyst that I WANT to just constantly trash the Chiefs.
I'd say, more like a fair critique. Take both the good and the bad to provide a better opinion. Blast that team when he absolutely has to.
I played college football - and it so incredible to have a place to go and watch someone who has solid film break downs.
Brett: "I think the curse is real"
KC fan who just saw their team lose in disturbing fashion: "No Shit Brett!"
What leads to lack of adjustment
brett turned the curse on us on purpose because he still hurts from the 24-0 game
the original (OG) CHOKER is backkkkkkkk!!!!!! this award belongs to Andy Reid !!!!! Whooo!!!
When you realize you're a Lions fan and are too familiar with curses.
"It is not lost on me, the privilege of having a job description of watching football and drinking with a few a hundred thousand strangers every week in my living room"... Living the dream Brett. Wouldn't be possible if your content wasn't excellent.
Been waiting for this.
Despite you cursing the team I picked to win, I love your cocktail recipes you share at the beginning of your videos. I always like to try new stuff and you help with that.
Damn! Brett looking suave as hell with that trim!
You know you're putting out intellectual content when other renowned creators constantly comment on your vids. Keep it up, and try not to cry when whatever happens with watson happens
Ok please start hyping up Brady and the Bucs. Make them the favorite to repeat and say Brady is a 100% lock to repeat as back to back Champs.
Honestly, I think the biggest reasons KC lost were:
- Lack of adjustment
-Andy Reid & Co. being unfocused because of the Britt Reid situation, probably being the reason we had a horrible gameplan.
-Fischer going down during the Bills game.
-No plan for help on the oline putting Remmers on an island (which is a terrible idea.)
- Referees being way more prone to flag calling than any other game (especially GB v TB and KC v BUF) ruining any chance of Chief's defense doing something in the first half, not counting the offsides.
Bucs defense tested the Chiefs offense and then the Chiefs just hung themselves by not adjusting.
But hey Tom Brady was the reason the Bucs won, he did it all by himself. LOL
Bucs defense overall was insane in the playoffs making Brees look like a rookie and shutting down Rodgers when they needed to and overall the reason they ended up winning.
Brett, thanks for the fantastic videos. You gave me a lot of hope with your breakdown of the Chiefs plan vs the Bills and I fully expected to see it again vs the Bucs... let down, but hope you reverse the curse next season. Cheers.
Brady ruined many quarterbacks career including Russell Wilson Matt Ryan Donovan McNabb and Jared Goff
I kind of doubt that the same thing will happen to Mahomes.
@@andrewkelly1337 I mean I have been watching Brady since 2011 and then every Super Bowl he played and that he won their team falls apart
Damn I had no idea brady played defense ....
@@andrewkelly1337 you know I meant recent team right The legion of boom literally suffocated the next year after Seattle lost the Super Bowl
I click on these videos for football analysis and leave wanting to get a bar-tending license
Convinced andy's sons DUI had an impact on the adjustments
The excuses are raining from the sky right now. He was literally the linebackers coach bro.
@@rngesus5465 I meant an impact on andy reid himself, his son almost killed a kid (or did idk). Just seems weird that some "great coach" does nothing to adapt
"With great power comes great responsability", remember, boys; don't wave your curses around like this.
Thanks for cursing my favorite team! "I'm gonna put out a video on each team to cancel out the curse" he said on the Bootleg football podcast... Gonna hold you to that curse of the Raiders but good luck finding something to praise!
I thought he already made a video about the Raiders?
You're still my favorite to watch break down film, my heart went out everytime I saw the Texans do something..."strange"
So I think us chiefs fan still came out on top, long live the Hunt family's kindness and dedication to KC
Hey! My high school defense was basically revolved around what Saben calls 77. We called it special, great coverage however rub routes were the weakness.
When is the “I was wrong about Justin Herbert” video coming buddy we haven’t forgot
Just want to let you know that, as a Chief fan, this is the first SB video I've been able to stomach. Part of that is time since the game, but most of it is the way Brett is able to point out the flaws and failings of teams without being condescending or insulting. Thanks, Mr. Kollmann!
I’m glad I could make it palatable lol
I watch all your videos and I really hope you keep posting them weekly through the off season. I love the prospect videos and the videos for how you think next season will go for teams. Keep up the great work. This is far and away the best football channel on RUclips. All my friends watch you too. Have a great Valentine’s Day everyone!!
Honestly I've been waiting for this to drop ever since KC got blown out you're my favorite NFL channel keep it going.
Just some funny shit right there
The deer on steroids comment caught me off guard and I nearly spit my food out laughing 😂
@@BrettKollmann ah okay I see, thanks for answering my question!
I honestly thought there would be some sort of change from Andy Reid in the second half and was really disappointing to see nothing. From a neutral standpoint, made the game kinda boring in the second half cause KC didn't put up much of a fight against that Bucs defense.
Yea Man. Its real. But we still here standing with you.
Can you make a supercut of these liquor intros because they're so relaxing.
Discovered you during the 2019 szn and ur videos keep getting better. Good work!
By far the best NFL content channel on any platform. You are the man Brett!
I think reasons like this which are KC what seem like inability to fix and adjust to their own weaknesses even when they know the bucs will exploit what they found on film is a big reason why EB hasn’t got hired.
I think the bigger curse is that teams that don't adjust well seem to always lose!
I feel like i learn so much from his play breakdowns I feel like it also helps me understand madden plays as well. I love the vids
-Derick Stingley (I know he is the 2022 draft, but he’s sooooo good.)
-Tray Lance, Cam Newton 3.0
-Rashod Bateman, I think he’s under rated
-Micah Parsons, mans an athlete at its finest
-Penei Sewell ( I think you did a video on him, but I can’t remember.)
-The Big 3 WR, no one seams to know who’s the best, most people say it’s Chase, but Devonta Smith won the Heismann and Waddles speed is crazy, so I want to know how you’d rank them 1-3.
