I'm a miami fan and thought we were going to get blown out. but somehow at the end of the game it was a 3 point game. I don't understand how on earth this happens. I'd love a video on this even if it's after the superbowl :)
So Pederson had them in a trips look vs cover 8, but didn't Lawrence ultimately make the audible because he identified that they would've busted with that play? Great stuff always Brett.
I see it as this concept was a check that they had installed for the week if they got a Cover-8 pre snap look against trips, and once Davis got hurt I think Pederson was in trevor's ear telling him to alert check to it if he had it (which he did)
@@BrettKollmann according to Zay Jones this particular check was not installed this week in the offense it’s a base check called “winners” no matter the game plan Trevor can check to. Was not practiced in a few weeks according to Jones.

Mad props for the work you put in Brett, between this and the Bootleg podcast, the regular content is insane for the quality. Thanks for another great season!
I've been watching content regarding this matchup and your video helped summed things up. Pederson ultimately used the Chargers rules on coverage to exploit them in the 2nd half. Even if Davis was around he was going to keep trying cuz he was so confident even with his 4th and short calls. Regarding 2:40 one of the things Staley did well in the 1st half was masking pre-snap zone looks to Trevor (who is amazing at pre/post snap processing) and then fooling him 2-3 seconds after the snap with something different (which was that cover 8 drop). He was set on Engram as his target but as you noted, Samuel's instincts knew this and was waiting to jump on Engram as well.
Great stuff, Brett - also, as I was watching the Giants game against the Vikings, I kept thinking back to your video on how the Giants' running game was superior - and you damn well predicted their victory over Minnesota! You are one awesome youtuber and keep up the good work ;) This is better than anything I see on ESPN or other NFL analysts on TV today.
Interesting, the way i was taught cover 6/8 we do 'MEG' the iso wr on the weak side with the corner, but the LB doesnt man up on the RB specifically for the fact that hes needed in that hook zone so the weak side safety doesnt take the bait going across his face since that LB will be in front. This does allow the RB a shit ton of space on the weakside flat but better there than 30yds downfield
11:08 one other thing I noticed is the mismatch of a corner against the tight end in the bottom of the screen. 17 is Evan Engram and asking a corner to cover him is also risky due to the size advantage he has.
On the long TD play to Zay Jones against the half safety, Tlaw actually audibles into that play call. Marvin Jones on the sideline actually went up to trev and said “great call” after the play was over. I appreciate the love for coach Pederson, but give trev his flowers on this one.
Brett you know how much I love you for having my jags on your page??? I’ve been waiting so long for the day you breakdown one of our games🥲 this means more than being covered by espn because your not biased and actually break shit down before talking
The offense shares a lot of blame when a big lead is blown. Just 2 four to five minute drives ending in a FG would have won this. Same for Atlanta during that SB
On the big TD to Zay Jones, I don't think it was so much Peterson knowing the Chargers would be in Cover 8 as much as it was Lawrence recognizing it at the line and audibling to that Cover 8 beater (as it definitely seems like he's checking into something else before the snap). Great coaching, and great poise by a young QB after a really tough first half.
