What people fail to mention with his injury: JJ will still be the youngest QB from this class to make his regular season debut, if he’s on the field Week 1 of next season.
I don’t know how that’s a value or notable in any way. And honestly I feel like these Covid year fifth/sixth years will be at a great advantage. They aren’t Brandon Weeden old but should be mature enough to be pro’s immediately. Imo. I could end up being wildly wrong.

You mention three plays there and that would help those of us who are clueless know whats the alert , midlevel and the delayed one if the arrows came in as you mentioned them
I'm a die hard Vikings fan. I've watched them for 3 decades. This kid is by far the best QB I've seen them draft ever (coming out of college) and it isn't even close. 1. Comes from a winning pedigree and has proven he can do what it takes to win a championship 2. Never lost a regular season game in college 3. Most efficient 3rd down QB in the history of CFB 4. Best arm in the draft out of the big early round QBs 5. Great accuracy 6. Great mobility 7. Great leadership 8. Multiple scouts said his work ethic in the film room is unmatched. I'll take that over talent any day, and he has both. This kid is going to be fine.
You write like they just drafted the second coming of Tom Brady a guy who was some elite QB prospect which he wasn’t and isn’t close to being. McCarthy was a mediocre prospect who has several questions surrounding him, even if he works out I don’t see him being as good as the best QBs in the NFC.

I am not a big college football fan but I will watch tape and watch breakdowns for potential prospects for the Vikings (die hard Vikings fan) JJ is the truth and every time I try to convince my friends that he is a good QB and has all the tools you want in a potential franchise QB I get laughed at. I really like what I've seen from JJ McCarthy so it's a major bummer he's gonna miss all of 2024, but come 2025 I think he's setup to come out of the gates hot assuming his recovery goes well. I subscribe to your current point of view that just because a QB isn't being asked to do it, doesn't necessarily mean he can't(also doesn't mean he can, but I'm not gonna dock a guy points for it either). Michigan just had no real reason to ask him to make a bunch of riskier, low percentage throws, but as you highlighted on the occasions he did he would deliver which made me a believer in him to the point that as a Pats fan if the Commanders had decided to take Drake Maye at 2nd overall instead of Jayden Daniels I'd have actually preferred for them to try to trade down, get an extra pick or two, and get McCarthy who I think would've been a better fit for Alex Van Pelt's west coast style system than Daniels.

I think your point to compare JJ and Herbert at the end is an effect one. Sometimes coaches have different ideas on how to run an offense that it may cloud the ability of some players. Harbaugh loves to run the football and the team was damn good at it, so they asked JJ to play a field general role which he did very well. Now I’m not an expert on the Oregon offense when Herbert was there, but if that offense featured a lot of screens and whatnot why wouldn’t it because the offensive line featured guys like Penei Sewell. I know first hand as a Lions fan that we have the ability to call some plays that no one else can just because we have Penei. Regardless, this should probably be a good lesson for everyone to take into future evaluations. What is the coach calling and why? Who is the personnel?
The injury he has is a paper cut compared to Teddy’s. We are lucky that it happened at the start of the year. Besides if he played that game with the soreness imagine him being able to maneuver in the pocket
Minnesota currently is going into next year with I think top 5 projected cap space in 2025. If they can get him some interior line help, and a running game. McCarthy could very well put on a hell of a show.

Still appreciate your QB evaluation video, though definitely it can be expanded just a bit. Low validity environments benefit from algorithmic approaches.
Respect for admitting to your faulty analysis of Justin Herbert. Could have done the exact same video without that part and not lose any narrative, but you still chose to put it in. In a society with a rapidly eroding public discourse - in part because there is practically no one owning up to their mistakes anymore - this just gave me some weird sense of optimism on a rainy fall night. Greetings from a day one fan from Germany
I love JJ to Minnesota. I’m jealous! I’m not saying he’d be successful with my Giants. Qb, tho the BIGGEST issue with my team(Dan Klan argue with the wall), isn’t the ONLY issue. JJ in Minnesota just works well imo. I believe he will be good.
Yip, painted themselves into a corner passing on JJ. Funny, like Kwesi, I just felt confident the Giants couldn't handle the flak they would have got for taking a QB over a WR.
Sooooo many casuals are going to be triggered by an unbiased football analyst giving details of why Michigan was good because they were good, not because of a “scandal”

I made a similar assumption about Herbert (although with a slightly differently conclusion)
Gotta rub the dirt in that freshly healed wound 😂
Skol vikes heal up JJ
Respect for admitting to your faulty analysis of Justin Herbert. Could have done the exact same video without that part and not lose any narrative, but you still chose to put it in. In a society with a rapidly eroding public discourse - in part because there is practically no one owning up to their mistakes anymore - this just gave me some weird sense of optimism on a rainy fall night. Greetings from a day one fan from Germany
Still no Maxx Crosby video bro been pushing for this for years this is a damn shame 😂
Game 1: Darnold Balls out
LOL it's going to be funny when JJ ends up going the Trey Lance route
That would be funny
"I felt bad about the course, so I spent even more time on the episode which totally won't double down on the curse"- Brett, probably
