@@buckeye9983 I mean I'm not even a fan of the warriors but he has and is changing the game that will have ripple effects 25 years down the line. Lebron changed how superstars deal with free agency and money decisions but that's a handful of players. Steph is showing you don't have to be that tall or athletic to be dominant. Just have handles and shoot.
I know this isn’t that important, but I would rather compare Mahomes to Steph Curry. The way mahomes defied the rules of playing qb remind me of how curry revolutionized basketball with his play style. Also, both possess incredible arm strength and accuracy and can use their skills even in difficult situations. Finally, their dads played sports professionally in the USA.
he hasnt "revolutionized basketball" hes the best shooter hands down but he hasnt changed anything about the game of basketball what rules has the nba enacted to curtail his play ? players have rules names after them thats revolutionizing thats not taking away from curry at all just stop with the hyperbole though
Laszlo Kiss acting like curry hasn’t spearheaded (and is at least partially responsible for) the three point revolution that’s taken place in the last few years
Arm strength is overrated when that’s all you have. You see guys get drafted higher than they should off arm strength alone (Stafford, Cam, and, most notably, JaMarcus Russell). Mahomes is special because he not only the strength to throw the ball anywhere on the field, but he also has the accuracy to put it exactly where he wants it. Not to mention the fact that he’s good at reading defenses, he’s smart (having Andy Reid working with him helps, I’m sure), and he’s an underrated athlete when moving outside the pocket.
I grew up in Indy and my dad is a Packers fan, so I've gotten the privileged of watching QBs like Payton Manning, Brett Favre, Andrew Luck, and Aaron Rodgers for 30+ years. Despite all of that, watching Mahomes is fast becoming the highlight of my football week, and this video is why.
Mahomes is the Giannis of the NFL. - Hasn't beaten the goat - No rings - Future of the league - Unlimited potential - Super young (both 24 yo) - Insanely explosive - Can single-handedly lead his team to victory
I agreed, people are saying he will surpass Tom Brady and Joe Montana is a little ridiculous. No one in my life time will get 6 rings in the salary cap era.
Arthas Menethil I agree (unless mahomes takes paycuts like Brady). I am interested to see what mahomes looks like in 2 years. A lot of players come into the league with insane talent but the NFL is better than any league at figuring out how to stop talent. Brains keep you around. Granted idk if anyone has ever had as much natural talent as him and his no look passes are signs of him already figuring out how to manipulate defenses. If he ever figures out pre snap reads at elite levels (which I don’t doubt he’ll do) he’ll be unstoppable
@@michaelryan4282 "If he ever figures out pre snap reads at elite levels" Uhh, I suppose you could make the argument he's not "elite" at that yet, but he's already very very good at it. Down 3 in the 4Q in the AFCCG against the Patriots, he changed the play at the line, which led to a go ahead TD. Check out 9:50 in this video ruclips.net/video/nKLkj0FzoEo/видео.html And he did it a lot last year. As a rookie. If you want to say he's not elite at it yet because he's only been doing it for one year, I suppose that's understandable, but it's certainly not going to take long.
It would make sense IF Giannis didn’t have holes in his game. But he does, glaringly the jumpshot he has. Mahomes can literally do more than any QB in the league rn just off the arm and legs. That doesn’t even take into count his football IQ and intangibles. Mahomes is basically a Young lebron or a young Jordan. Doing shit nobody ever thought of. Now? Now we just wait and see. We can’t proclaim him to be the best ever or whatever bc he’s a kid. But if he wins rings? More mvps? He could go down as one of the greatest if not the greatest. But tbh, it really isn’t about Mahomes, he’s amazing yes but I think it’s more about coaching and the front office of the Chiefs than it is about Mahomes.
Brett, I wish you would do a video of NFL style defenses, their names, and the coverage/assignments for each of the defensive players. Or a series. Love what you've done on this channel. Great work and presentation.

Ryan Huestis cause your overpraising a young athlete, not even like your praising their potential, but literally praising what he’s done when it could very well be a fluke, just like we did with kaepernick
@@andrewbingham5360 ah yes I remember the good old days when Kaepernick threw for 50 TDs and won MVP in his first year as a starter. How foolish we are to overhype another athlete that accomplished exactly the same things as Kaepernick so early in his career.

@TheWhiteWhale Yeah people shoot more threes, but QB's can't just start throwing no look passes like Mahomes because it wouldn't work, He's not really doing anything different scheme wise he's just making throws other QB's are incapable of. Far as scouting nobody could have predicted he would be this good
I agree with what you said change the way the position is played some one is working on defense to contain this guy if they are able to other than that he will not play at this level his entire career.
Mansa Munsa I disagree, Mahomes is definitely doing things differently, brushing off everything as “just stuff other QBs can’t do” is disingenuous at best. For starters, he is proving that following the accepted rules of a Quarterback is not necessary. If up and coming QBs practice these forbidden passes that up to now coaches would tear you a new one for even daring to practice something like that, then you will get a whole generation of QBs capable and willing to do similar things. This would completely change the way defense is played, most likely even more complex zone defenses will be developed to counter the range of these QBs. “Gimmicks” will become more common as defense try to fool the QB more instead of purely relying on coverage.
Kobe was not doing stuff we have never seen before. We already saw a better version of him with Michael Jordan. Mahomes is like a late 80's Jordan or 2015 Steph Curry. That poor Raiders defense the other day. All-out assault of accurate deep ball throws, one after the other.

His arm talent is ridiculous. That about sums it up I think 😂. Seriously though, he is a magician out there at times with the things he can do. Going to Andy Reid was a great placement for him. How does Andy Reid keep landing talented QBs (McNabb, Vick, and now Mahommes).
And now he's a World Champion. After years of getting heart broken by likes of an Elway, Marino, Kelly, Manning, Brady....we finally have our own heartbreaker here in Kansas City. We're going to enjoy this one for a little while.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a quarterback unleash that kind of onslaught in a quarter, and I’m not sure I ever will again.” Sheesh, sorry for that 2nd quarter in the divisional round. My condolences.
Guys, it’s not just the eye test. This is the best start to a quarterback career ever. TD passes through 801 career pass attempts (Mahomes' current total): Mahomes: 63 Rodgers: 41 Peyton: 39 Brady: 34 Brees: 25
Watson would do the same thing with Andy Reid as his coach. Watson is doing his thing with a terrible coach just remember that. There is a reason guys are running wide open for the Chiefs
TLINC RIALB Watson is good but he is not on the same level as mahomes. mahomes ability to throw the ball off balance and from any arm angle sets him apart. That comes from the baseball background. Watson has a strong arm but I’m not sure it’s as strong as PM. If mahomes had Hopkins we would be talking about Hopkins being one of the best ever already.
@@texasnyghtmare I disagree, Mahomes was a reach at the time so if Andy Reid wanted Watson he would've got Watson instead since Watson was meant to go higher than Mahomes. I recon Andy Reid saw his dream QB in Mahomes and decided to take it because Mahomes wasn't meant to be drafted until late 1st or early 2nd round.
Brett, when you were talking about the "onslaught" against the Raiders, the only thing I could think was, "this poor bastard had no idea when he recorded this what Mahomes would do to his team, the Texans, in the playoffs."
Henri xyz : Funny thing is, Kareem and Magic were arguably greater than both, ESPECIALLY Kareem. If there’s ever a Mahomes-Brady argument it will be the same farce. Jordan was carried by the NBA refs because David Stern rigged it that way, the same way the NFL is rigged for Brady. A Super Bowl is mostly a team accomplishment; it is often an added accomplishment to a QB’s resume that can be held up as evidence of his greatness. But don’t try to tell me that Brady was necessarily greater than Montana (4-0 in Super Bowls, and an NFC title game with K.C), Elway, or Unitas. You can argue that Favre, Staubach, Peyton Manning’s and Steve young we’re at least AS GREAT. There really is no GOAT, and no GQBOATas for Mahomes? He’s not even the best QB in the league right now. That title belongs to Russell Wilson, who, unlike Mahomes, doesn’t choke in his biggest games. Even in that Stupid Bowl loss, Wilson threw the ball perfectly, but... The play shouldn’t have been called to begin with; it was called out of spite to discipline Marshawn Lynch for his behavior with the media. Former Seahawk Brandon Browner recognizes the set and directed Malcolm Butler to the spot of the pass. Ricardo Lockett didn’t break strongly enough to the ball; if he had he would have caught it, because it was perfectly placed. Wilson started as a true rookie after beating out high-priced free agent Matt Flynn, and started his career 11-0 vs. Super Bowl winning QB’s over three years - including his rookie year. He also went undefeated at home and in prime-time games, and still has the highest MNF and TNF passer ratings in NFL history! Mahomes, by contrast, SAT as a rookie, then proceeded in his second year to lose all four of his biggest games to Super Bowl winners Brady and Wilson, and Rivers and Goff. But Mahomes is the best in the game, let y’all tell it. You can’t be the top dog in the game if you can’t beat all of the other dogs. Only one QB in the entire league has beaten every consistent starter since 2012: Wilson! He even owns a 3-1 advantage over Brady (including an ass-kicking in Foxborough), and would be 4-0 if not for the Stupid Bowl. Btw, Wilson schooled Brady the first time he ever played against Brady. What did Mahomes do? Mahomes is NOT the best QB on the league! Wilson is the top dog, with Brees and Brady behind him.
@@DeCurtaRican could you be any more ignorant? Mahomes didn't choke in the afccg, his coach was beaten by Belichick. Additionally anyone who has watched with an unbiased eye will know bad calls are made by refs against every team (yes even the Patriots) in every game. Hell, in 2015 the afccg was practically decided by a few no call holding penalties against the broncos, leading them to victory against Brady.

The first minute of this made me literally laugh out loud. I love the "What the Hell" angle. And yes, it's totally unfair, especially for Texans fans, who have a legit, arguably elite QB for the first time in team history (especially unfair now, in context, after that Divisional Round... sorry again about that). But as a lifetime-suffering Chiefs fan, I am thrilled that right when Brady, Brees, and Manning are gone or close to gone, the strength in the NFL - and particularly the AFC - has been re-distributed, and mostly to teams that have never had it before. Over the next decade, I think we're going to be seeing a lot of instant classic primetime shootouts featuring Mahomes, Deshaun, and (assuming his arm gets even better as his legs slow down with age) Lamar, as well as Russell Wilson (and Aaron Rodgers for at least 3-4 more years). But yeah, Mahomes is a Frankenstein's Monster of good football talent, and after last year's MVP season and this year's Playoff/Super Bowl Comeback-apalooza, it's safe to say he's the best player in the league, and it's not close.
As a Packers fan I'm good with the torch being passed on from Rodgers to Mahomes as the most talented QB playing the game and possibly ever. Dude's a baller and I can't wait till the Packers play him later this year, full well knowing he's going to do his thing against us too. Spent so many years as a fan of the best in the league it'll be interesting to see what the other side is like
I mean lets be real, Ravens are over-hyped. I'm a Dolphins fan and when teams score less then 70 points on us that's a win. Pat Mahomes will scorch that defense and it doesn't matter how many points lamar jackson scores, he cannot compete with the future GOAT.
No way is it going to be legendary, Lamar isn't even that good as a thrower, last year his true completion percentage was worse than Baker Mayfields, and Mayfields was one of the worst in the league. Ravens losing in a landslide.
I am in KC, and we've suffered through some bad eras and even some successful eras that were hard to watch (looking at Alex Smith.) Patrick Mahomes is must watch television. I have been fortunate enough to watch him in-person a few times including the Patriots playoff game. What I love about him is that you don't want to miss a play, a single down of offense because you don't know what he is going to do that you've never seen before. Steph Curry is perfect because that's what watching the Warriors are in the NBA. You know they just go supernova and you are going to witness history. KC has been a good and loyal fan base for decades. I am glad we finally have someone to call our own.

I know this isn’t that important, but I would rather compare Mahomes to Steph Curry. Also, both possess incredible arm strength and accuracy and can use their skills even in difficult situations. Finally, their dads played sports professionally in the USA.
I don't think Stephen curry has great arm strength

Arm strength is overrated when that’s all you have. You see guys get drafted higher than they should off arm strength alone (Stafford, Cam, and, most notably, JaMarcus Russell). Mahomes is special because he not only the strength to throw the ball anywhere on the field, but he also has the accuracy to put it exactly where he wants it. Not to mention the fact that he’s good at reading defenses, he’s smart (having Andy Reid working with him helps, I’m sure), and he’s an underrated athlete when moving outside the pocket.

This video is almost a scary prediction considering Mahomes' recent performance, including the quarter comeback against the texans
Mahomes is the Giannis of the NFL.
- Hasn't beaten the goat
- No rings
- Future of the league
- Unlimited potential
- Super young (both 24 yo)
- Insanely explosive
- Can single-handedly lead his team to victory
I agreed, people are saying he will surpass Tom Brady and Joe Montana is a little ridiculous. No one in my life time will get 6 rings in the salary cap era.
Arthas Menethil
I agree (unless mahomes takes paycuts like Brady).
@@michaelryan4282 "If he ever figures out pre snap reads at elite levels"
Uhh, I suppose you could make the argument he's not "elite" at that yet, but he's already very very good at it. Down 3 in the 4Q in the AFCCG against the Patriots, he changed the play at the line, which led to a go ahead TD. Check out 9:50 in this video ruclips.net/video/nKLkj0FzoEo/видео.html
And he did it a lot last year.
He hasn’t passed Aaron Rodgers yet

@TheWhiteWhale Yeah people shoot more threes, but QB's can't just start throwing no look passes like Mahomes because it wouldn't work, He's not really doing anything different scheme wise he's just making throws other QB's are incapable of. Far as scouting nobody could have predicted he would be this good
What about Aaron Rodgers? He’s the Lebron
I agree with what you said change the way the position is played some one is working on defense to contain this guy if they are able to other than that he will not play at this level his entire career.
Mansa Munsa
I disagree, Mahomes is definitely doing things differently, brushing off everything as “just stuff other QBs can’t do” is disingenuous at best.
Had to come back after Mahomes dropped 51 points on a Playoff victory vs Texans

Pat wasn't highly recruited by big schools and the league still had questions about him but he shattered it early he's more like Kobe.
Kobe was not doing stuff we have never seen before. We already saw a better version of him with Michael Jordan. Mahomes is like a late 80's Jordan or 2015 Steph Curry. That poor Raiders defense the other day. All-out assault of accurate deep ball throws, one after the other.

One day, we’ll have the “Brady vs Mahomes” debate like Lebron vs Jordan

Mahomes is a madden character brought to life
The first minute of this made me literally laugh out loud.
