    The Chiefs D reminds me of that 2007 Colts defense that everybody slept on because they were trash in the regular season. But late in the season and in the playoffs when it mattered, they got it done.
    They're not playing Rex Grossman's Bears tho

    Chiefs D before week 10: Unhealthy Jones, unhealthy Clark. Everyone adjusting to a new zone scheme.
    After week 10: Sign Suggs, sign Pennel. Clark and Jones healthy. Everyone more comfortable in new scheme.

      Jones wasn't healthy in the playoffs until now ( didn't play vs Texans and I think was limited or inactive vs titans). Not sure when he got hurt in regular season though tbf.

      Its average at best. You cant compare the chiefs defense with the 49ers defense. Also the Patriots, Ravens, Bears, Bills, Vikings, Steelers, Eagles, Saints, Broncos, Chargers, and Rams. Chiefs defense got better but they still about average.

    I had this idea that football was a brutish sport with a bunch of big boys crashing into each other with reckless abandon. Watching your videos has seriously challenged that notion. I am developing a profound appreciation for the nuance, strategy and art behind the game and that's thanks to videos like this one. It's clear that your enthusiasm for football stems from a genuine understanding of what the game actually is. I've learned more from this 13 minute video than I have from any of the talking heads on ESPN and for that I thank you. Keep up the good work; liked and subscribed.

    Really enjoyed the analysis Brett. Given that KC just won the SB even without all the ideal pieces for Spagnuolo's scheme and assuming he stays as DC, ridiculous how long this team could be good when they draft and sign D players that fit better. We know the offense will produce. Congrats Chiefs fans.

      Marcus peters wasnt a press corner. Thats why he sucked with the Rams. Jones is a big splash get the QB guy. He needs to be DT to get that penetration. Put him at DE and he loses some of his effectiveness. Put the right guy in the right spot. Thats what good coaches do.

    Very interesting your remark about a remedy to Shanahan zone blocking schemes. The game comes down to 1) Can the 49ers keep Mahones on the bench? And 2) Can the Chiefs make Garoppolo try to beat them? Should be a great game.

    I'd see flashes of this last few weeks of the season chiefs defense that is so dominate now during the first part of the season. I just knew they needed to figure out pieces to the puzzle.

Sad how the whole team imploded the year after, with the defense being blown to bits by Gettleman. Had a lot of talent there.

    As a 49er fan I actually do want you to drop that video Brett. A lot of casual football fans really believe the 49ers run scheme is the same as the Titans, Jimmy is incapable of throwing the football and a healthy 49ers defense are going to get steamrolled by the Chiefs offense. Narratives the media have been pushing the last 2 weeks.

    Just watched this. How accurate you were. I really appreciate the effort you put in this... and how you ended up calling out great play by people like Nnadi. KC fans are aware of MVP, he is a local hero now. But, I never hear people calling out Nnadi. KC fans tend to know C Jones strengths but probably not his weaknesses. The Chiefs org certainly know (about Jones) and maybe that is why the big contract (nor trade) has occurred this year or last. Anyway, well done. I'll now look for your post SuperBowl video.

    49er fan here. Just like playing against the KC passing game is unlike playing against anyone else.... playing against the 49er running game and the 49er defensive front are unlike playing against anyone else. We shall see how it shakes out on Sunday. MVP will be either Mahomes OR Garoppolo/Mostert/Kittle/Bosa.

    It's hard to believe the Cheifs were kind of under the radar this season. When Ma'homes was hurt and fell to 6-3 they didn't seem to be all that. And then they lost their first game with Ma'homes back and were 6-4. But then something came alive in them! They got the bye thanks to the Dolphins and the rest is history

    It's because there last 6 games were against mediocre to low ranking rushing teams. Chargers (twice) ranked 5th worst, Bears ranked 6th worst, Raiders (13th), Patriots (18th), Broncos (20th).
