      Honestly wouldn't be surprised. I kept saying, and seeing the analysis all season that if you take away the home run shots they can't really march up the field and it was fairly true the whole season. I remember the one regular season tampa bay game, when tampa was playing one safety in the first half the Chiefs tore them up, and then when they played 2 safties in the second half the Chiefs offense looked like barely functional dogshit.
      But now every playoff game they've been marching it with ease looking like a well oiled fuckin machine. I am 100% serious that I think Andy Reid told Mahomes to just play balls to the wall to look for the most exciting plays in the regular season because they knew they'd win anyway, and now that it's the postseason they're running the actual offense that's efficient and still leaves you scared of the big play.

      They did a lot of stupid plays in the redzone. Some of them worked like the QB in motion bootleg, but a lot of them didn't like the Kelce pass to Mahomes against the Bucs. Some theorized it was a "reward" to the offense to run those fun, gimmick plays. They'd probably have been better just playing straight up because they're better than the defense they're facing

      @@12jswilson I think a lot of it was smokescreens, you know? Like let's do a crazy play. If it works, we score; and, even if it doesn't, defenses will have to keep track of all the trickery from the season still - which is allowing KC to do what they have done so far in the playoffs (playing straight up). Also, and it should go without saying, Spags has been brilliant. He knew Allen and Mayfield like to throw the ball up when they get pressured, so he consistently brought pressure almost every play or showed like he was going to send pressure every play. I bet against Brady he calls an entirely different gameplan. He will probably rarely blitz and instead play a lot of 2-3 deep zones. One thing Brady has shown this year is he WANTS to throw deep. Sure he will throw short passes a lot, but he will take risks and throw it deep. If he throws 2-3 ints against KC, the Bucs will 100% lose.

Mahomes spent the entire game taking those deep drops and trying to throw home run balls against two high safeties like Brett criticized in his previous Chiefs video. And I really didn't see the Chiefs give any help to their backup tackles that were getting destroyed by Tampa's DEs all game long. Really baffling game by KC, and a great game from Tampa.

      Just a fan of the NFL here, so take this with a grain of salt.
      They were getting cute with it. They were used to trick plays bailing them out. They were used to patrick mahomes completing a 20 yard pass during a sack. They were used to having a run option when pass failed(rarely), and having a pass option always.
      They used the talent to get to where they did up and to the SB, which is frickin incredible.
      They started sleepwalking because of the talent on that roster. It was taken advantage of.
      When you have two powerhouse, wet coast styled teams..with star QB's..fundamentals come back into play..If you want to win, score once per quarter, and possess the ball for most of the time.. that means rely on short yard gains via running.
      Tampa played 1940's football against a KC Madden scheme. Respect to both. My team didnt get there..

    • @zenunderground
      @zenunderground 3 года назад

      I disagree.. I'm more a fan of KC than TB, and I think TB and Bruce out coached Andy.
      Kansas City had so much confidence that it cost them..
      That game was one on possession time and understanding that the offense overvalued 3 players. Double cover the star runner, reciever, and quarterback as a defense strategy. Run the ball as much as you can, before you are forced to throw, as offense..You have a game where one team has possession of the ball most of the time if the defensive team refuses to change strategy.
      Just a guess..It's all smoke and mirrors on TV..

      @becpennington7470 3 года назад +1

      I'm not entirely disagreeing, but there's a subtle difference between holding back and trying to develop depth and maturity. Without preseason games you have to try stuff out in the regular season, and everyone was doing that. Yeah, you could argue they were more cautious with some key players like Bell, they threw away game 16 because they could - that's normal for a clinched top seed - and Andy won't pull out some plays until the Big Game, but that's not to say they weren't trying hard to win and making a lot of natural mistakes along the way. I wouldn't take away credit from the Raiders, for instance, who played amazingly well in that first matchup. I'll argue they truly weren't that good earlier because they hadn't gelled yet in some areas.

    Interesting note about splitting RB out wide before motioning him to the backfield: I used to chart Patriots games back in 2016 (or '17, don't remember exactly). They LOVE to do it, regardless of whether it's a run or a pass. It gave Brady a good sense of man vs. zone defense. And if it's a pass play, the RB can either go into pass protection with momentum and stop a blitzing DE/OLB, or go right into a wheel route against a slower LB. It's absolutely OP, and it's unbelievable that more teams don't do it.

    Nice job. As a chiefs fan, these past 7 years or so have been the stuff of dreams, and of course, what you call the Mahomes Era, has been wonderfully absurd in particular. Before I go any further, I also wanted to express my condolences concerning Watson and the Texans. That's been kind of like a burning multi-car wreck on the side of the road in the Kingdom; you can't believe you're seeing what you're seeing, but there it is. I can't imagine the pain you're going through, and hope God gives you strength through these darker days.
    Been watching for about 3 years now; love your stuff, even though every once in a while I don't agree with some of your assessments, but mostly you seem to get it dead nuts right. And I have to say that you've taught me quite about this game we all love, so thank you, I sincerely appreciate your insights, and your hard work.
    Parting question: is there any chance you'll do a film study on the Chiefs defense/Spags after the Super Bowl? I have a feeling they're going to be a big factor in the game, and would seriously be interested in your take, win or lose.

    @Brett Kollmann Awesome instructional breakdown of how the Chiefs are able to carve up teams with the short game. Too many "Experts" were saying that KC had lacked that in their game in the regular season as well as their run game is weak. Which I personally agree it is still suspect. My main concern for them in the Super Bowl is not Tom Brady and his weapons but that TB front 4 and the pass rush as well as athletic LB's to keep Kelce in check. If they are able to slice and dice TB with the short quick pass with long YAC and great blocking scheme then I'll feel much better about their chances but I wouldn't say it's an automatic win. I'm looking forward to which play you'll make for your hoodies in this Super Bowl. (I bought your Wasp and Minnesota Miracle) I'm looking forward to getting them. Keep up the great work Sir. PS. I hope the Bears sell the farm and get Watson so you can have that to root for. I just worry that that organization is cheaply ran and worry too much about $ tho. (My bro is a homer so he'd be happy as well. They should have just listened to John Fox and got him instead of their current QB.....smh).

Either show the offensive route the seahawks laid out and draw a X where the interception happened, or the defensive play and a X where Butler crashed the entire win for Seattle.
    Just a different take on the hoodies you have been putting out there cuz I think they are all pretty cool, just need some love for the defense. Cheers.
